      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Pricey but worth every penny!

As a beauty blogger i get asked constantly which products i would recommend and if i would recommend a pressed foundation. Normally i would outright say that i do not recommend pressed foundations because i find them to be gimmicky. That was until i tried Clarins Everlasting Foundation.

I got the colour Nude which is the lightest shade, i found the colour looked darker in the compact than it did when it was applied to my face. I used the sponge applicator which was provided but for me, i dont like the applicator, i find it to be product absorbing meaning the product doesn't transfer to your face as well as it would with a different kind of applicator.

Applicator aside, this glides on your face and leaves a medium coverage on your face. It literally feels as though you have nothing on your face, it feels invisible but looks flawless! If you need a higher coverage, i would recommend building this colour.

The product lasted all day and it didnt adapt as the day went on which was good for me.

The only downside to the product is the price, which is just under the £30 mark, but when you consider just what an excellent product this is, it is worth every penny! the product arrives in a suedette pouch and with full instructions and ingredients.

I was very impressed with this product!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A wet and dry powder foundation which I found could only be used dry.

I purchased the previous version of this when I was first introduced to make-up by my mum because I had acne which was causing me to lose self-confidence. I also had a prom coming up and wanted to wear some make-up for that too. I was not interested in caking myself in make-up but something just to take the edge off the redness and spots. Mum took me over to Clarins because at the time she used everything from their range. The lady sat me down and introduced me to lots of products and she applied this previous version of this current product to my face. It is a powder- foundation compact which can be used wet or dry. So the lady used it wet on me which really just means damp. She spritz the sponge with a water spray and applied the powder. After she was done I was completely amazed. My skin looked so much better - it wasn't flawless but the improvement was vast. I continued to use this product for a couple of years and then I moved over to Clinique and Estee Lauder for liquid foundations. I went back to Clarins about two years ago and asked if I could try this again and the lady informed me that they had discontinued it which I thought was such a shame. But three weeks ago I saw an advert for this in a magazine and thought that it looked just like the one I had used because it said that it could be used wet and dry. Very few powder foundations do this.

So I popped to Clarins two weeks ago and checked it out. I tried it on my hand and I remember being the lightest shade they did and it looked similar and I remember it being called nude which this one was too. I did not get the girl to try it on me (I wish I had now) because I thought I knew what it was like. Anyway I bought it because they were on their gift-time so I received a few gift with my purchase of two items. It cost £27.00 for a 10g compact. The compact is rectangular in gold and comes in a red velvet pouch. It looks very elegant and it comes with just the one sponge. I thought perhaps it should have been improved to have two sponges, one to use wet and one to use dry. Using the compact wet increases the coverage of it compared with using it dry. In addition it can be used as a touch-up powder during the day too.

Once I got the product home and tried it my disappointment kicked in. Firstly using the powder dry as you can the colour looked perfect on my skin but once applied with a damp sponge the colour changed from the gorgeous pale ivory colour to a tangoed orange. I was devastated when I looked in the mirror. I told myself I would make myself wear it for the day because I was at home all day. But as the day went on my face got more orange - it was not a good look I can assure you!

So I have wondered what exactly have Clarins improved with this product apart from the packaging? Well the instructions and advertised stated that it is a 15 hour hold foundation which definitely sounds pretty impressive... but uh oh no that was not the case, it held in place for all of about 5 hours maximum and throughout the time it was still turning that darker orange colour. The foundation is also supposed to even out the complexion with light optimising pigments (reflect light) and provide a natural matte finish. Well I agree it was matte, but how can an orange colour look natural? I have no idea. It also stated that it was an adjustable cover which I am guessing is because using it dry is less coverage than using it wet. Lastly it shows that it has SPF15 protection as well as free radical protection (which can cause premature ageing) which is always good.
The directions simply state to apply as needed... not terribly helpful for somebody who has never used it before.
I did ask the Clarins lady if it came in refills and she said it did not whereas the previous version did which was something I loved about it.

So would I purchase this product again? That would be a massive no. I am so disappointed. I will try to use it up by touching up my regular liquid foundation in the day time to reduce oil but I will never wear it again as a full foundation using the damp sponge. I have thought about using the foundation with a dry sponge but unfortunately my skin is very difficult and despite it being oily, it can become flakey very easily too so I feel that using it dry would be too drying for the skin.

So a lesson for me to take away from this is try before I buy and to never assume a product is something (because it may not be).
