I started using Clarins extra firming foundation when i was 20 years old and 4 years later continue to be impressed. Though slighty pricier then a lot of liquid foundations, and i must admit, slightly heavier too, its coverage and skin tone match is simply perfect. Being of mixed race (half english, half Indian) i had always found it hard to find a foundation that was my tone, with the shades i had tried either being too orangey, or too pale. However, after being recommended the brand by a friend, i headed to my local boots. They matched my skin tone to the appropriate shade and gave me a free sample, i haven't looked back since! Application is smooth and easy, i find best applied with fingertips and I find only a small amount is required to cover all visible blemishes and scars (of which i have many, from years of acne), so the price is justified. It gives a natural finish whilst at the same time leaving a noticable glow to the skin. In regards to scent, it has a slight smell, but it's a lovely one. Whether for every day use, or glamming up for a night on the town, it's perfect for all occassions. Definately money worth spending.
I have struggled for years with a decent foundation that didnt make my overtly sensitive skin irritate or flair up or left me with a flaky, heavy make up base. I was given a tester of Clarins Extra Firming Foundation prior to Christmas and tentatively gave it a go one weekend.
Firstly, the product has a very light fragrance which is great considering that some foundations have a very heady floral scent. Secondly, wow, the product just glides on, evens out tone without clogging, looking heavy or becoming dry. Your skin feels smooth and not tight and it provides a wonderful base for the rest of your make up.
The absolute deal breaker for me is that at no stage did my skin become irritated during the day long wearing of foundation or cause a spot break out a few days later.
I now put all my faith in this wonderful product and thank goodness that Clarins made it! Yes, it is more expensive than say a Max Factor or No17 product but it is cost effective due to the length of time the produce lasts, I am 2 months in still have well over 3/4 bottle left. I have seen prices ranging from £21 to £27 dependent on where you buy it from so shop around and grab yourselves a key make up item for all us sensitive skin types!
This foundation is the best I've ever used. I haven't tried any of the other premium foundations like Dior or Clinique because I am just so happy with this foundation.
Before Clarins I used many different foundations like Max Factor, No7, and Rimmel etc. All the cheaper versions that you find in Superdrug and Boots but I was never happy and was always spending my money on new products. I had a makeup bag full of various brands of unwanted foundations.
Then in 2002 I decided to splash out and spend £22 on the Clarins Extra Firming Foundation and what a transformation. It just smoothes really easily onto your skin and your complexion looks perfect without being too heavy and it lasts all day.
My husband gasped when I told him how much it cost but then 10 months later I ran out and spent another £22.
I think it's now about £25 but if you think about it it's not really expensive because it lasts just under a year. Before Clarins I was spending between £8 - £10 on a cheaper foundation and I was buying one every month. The cheaper foundations available on the market are really not that cheap. If you think of how long they last you end up spending more because you have to replace them more frequently.
I suggest you get yourself down to a Clarins counter and purchase one of their foundations. You won't be disappointed!
I first came across this foundation as a sample in a magazine. When I tried it I couldnt believe the difference it made to my skin (i am only 21 but i still noticed a difference). I am not one for extravagant make up and dont wear it that often but I neeeded this foundation it was simply the best. I decided to purchase it at a department store make up party as they were taking 10% off all purchases and lots of freebies to go with it. My mum decided to treat herself aswell and when she had tried it she said she was never going to purchase any other foundation again. The Extra-Firming foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle with a pump so its not so easy to waste any. You only need 1-2 pumps per application and it lasts for hours. I also have slightly dry skin and it moisturises it so well leaving no sign of flaky skin. It is not very creamy but also not to watery which makes it just right. I have tried Elizabeth Ardens firming foundation and it was just to creamy for my skin and made it look oily. Clarins foundation comes in several shades to suit all types of skin tone and leaves your skin looking flawless without the use of concealer. I have had my bottle for 3 months now and there is still half a bottle left, so even though it is £22 it is value for money, definitely. I give it to clarins that they do make excellent products and I will keep buying this foundation until they make a better more face lifting foundation.
