“ Brand: Clarins / Type: Makeup / Suitable for: Eye „
Clarins Eye Duo provide you with a little box which contains two Clarins eye shadows which are complimentary in colour and so are recommended to be sold together. The duo colours I have are Rose Petal and Grape, which, as the names would suggest, are a nice delicate pink and then a darker rich port wine colour. They do indeed compliment each other nicely - and so I like to use both colours in order to provide depth and shadowing to my eyes.
The eye shadows come in a small compact box which is certainly small enough to store in my make-up case or even to carry it around in my bag. When the compact is closed, it does not open accidentally and so it is unlikely to open and then accidentally spill - as I have found with a number of my other eye shadow compacts. On the underside of the lid is a mirror which is handy for applying the eye shadow if I'm out and about. There is also a small eye shadow applicator - although I don't particularly like this applicator as it is a bit hard and I generally prefer to use a professional brush to apply eye shadow as I feel a really good quality brush allows better and more complete blending.
When the eye shadow is being applied, like most of Clarins products, I feel it's quality really shines through. Despite being in powder form, the eye shadow feels creamy and luxurious. It applies evenly - and you can apply it very subtely and lightly if you wish - or alternatively you can be more bold. Even if I decide to go for the bold look, the eye shadow never looks clumpy. It blends really well, and as I said previously, the colours very much compliment each other. It also has the stay-ability factor as once I've applied it I would estimate that it doesn't need touching up for at least eight hours.
The downside about this product is the fact that it is quite expensive. The Clarins Duo Eyeshadow cost me £22.00 from Amazon (including postage and packaging) which is slightly more than I would normally choose to pay for an eye shadow. Having said that, it has lasted me absolutely ages and so it might be cost effective in the long run.
Overall, I would recommend this product if you can find a shade that you like. It does cost more than many eye shadows, but it is a quality product - which can be optimised if you have your own professional brushes!
This is a Clarins eye shadow duo that has been in my make up bag for so long I can't actually remember when I bought it. The duo I have is the number 28 Wheat and Dusk. Now this item is no longer readily available from the Clarins counters but is still available from various on line retailers but as it is a discounted item the price of those still available has gone up accordingly and these duos now retail from £20 up to the princely sum of £42.95 new. I can't say I remember what I paid for mine but it was no where near the £40 mark
The duo comes in a lovely golden style compact with a mirror and an eye shadow applicator with two ends one for each color. I no longer have mine and use a make up brush to apply the eye shadow. The compact does have a mirror but I find with my poor eyesight and contact lens this is too small for me to use so I end up using my normal mirror to apply the eye shadow.
The eye shadow itself is a lovely creamy texture that is soft to the touch as well. What I find about this is that it goes on a treat as there is very little dust that flies off in all directions and very little becomes loose in the compact meaning it stays where it should in the compact and doesn't get wasted. This soft texture means that it goes on to my skin well and doesn't seem to aggravate or irritate my eyes in anyway. I think the colors provide a love balance of matte with a hint of shimmer that means it perfect for day wear in my opinion. The wheat is a lovely soft shimmery brown/ cream whilst the dusk is a muted brown that has purple tinges to it in the right light. I think this provides a very versatile combination as I can use the dusk on the crease of my eye lid and to line the lid and the wheat looks fabulous on the lid and the brow line. What I do find about using this combination is that it gives a lovely natural look to my eyes which is what I like for the majority of my make up wear. However the slight shimmer in the eye shadow actually lifts it slightly to give a nice look that can bring a bit of sparkle to your eyes.
I find that the eye shadow actually lasts well on my eyes and is still noticeable at the end of a day rather than sinking into my skin like some cheaper makes tend to do on me. The eye shadow is easy to remove with a normal make up remover.
Overall I would definitely recommend this eye shadow but only if you can get it at the cheaper price of £20 no eye shadow in my experience is worth over £40. If I can find some more of this I will buy it so and may do a few eBay searches. But if I can't I would be willing to look for a similar shade in Clarins new mono eye shadows as I have had such a positive experience with this duo on the lasting qualities and how it is kind to my skin and how it doesn't aggravate my contact lens.
Available still from http://www.lavishchoice.co.uk/clarins-eye-colour-duo-28-wheat-dusk.html for £42.95
Recently, my friend gave me a Eye Palette Quartet in Celestial. She used the green shade on me before when she did my make up. The colours in the particular palette Celestial are sheer and have a beautiful sheen that can be worn on their own or over a brightly / dark coloured eye shadow to give a beautiful pearl effect. Ideal for evening occasions or subtle (on its own) for the day. It contains 4 shades, pink, lilac, yellow and green; all pale, pearlescent shades.
It is long wearing make up which contains fine pearl and creates a smooth soft texture which is perfect for blending. It also contains an anti pollution active ingredient which helps protect the delicate skin around the eye from pollution, free radicals and light!
There are 6 different palettes to choose from; Celestial, Nudes, Forest, Earth, So Sublime and So Chic.
For the RRP of £29.50.
I was wandering around Dublin Airport Duty free shops because my plane had been delayed. (just for a change!)
I was a bit blown away by the prices that woman were being asked to part with for beauty products.
I was quite shocked to see that a mascara that my daughter had lent to me (and which is still languishing in my jacket pocket!) cost 15 Euro. And this is the Duty Free price!
The item in question is a Clarins Pure volume Mascara, 7ml
I see it is available online for £16.25 so there's not much of a saving buying it in Ireland!
The box is simple, recyclable and bears the Clarins Logo.
The mascara tube is plain glossy plastic. It's rather a nice shade of red.
The brush is well spaced out and the bristles are a decent length so you can do the corners of your eyelashesd without blinding yourself.
The blurb says.........
This mascara, which has a rich creamy texture based on selected vegetal waxes, coats and increases lash volume. And, true to form, Clarins has also included high-tech pigments which give thicker, supple more radiant lashes. Perfect for everyone including those who have sensitive eyes or who wear contact lenses.
How to use:
Apply to the base of the lashes up to the tip, then apply a second coat for more sophisticated results.
My eyes say.
It goes on easily, it covers well and doesn't clump the lashes together. (I hate that!) The pigment is really stong. The shade of mine (sorry, my daughter's) is 'Pure Brown'. It is too!
It is also available in 'Pure Black'. (I bet they stayed up all night thinking up a name for those colours!)
Suprisingly, it had a pleasant smell. I assume that this is the conditioning vegetal waxes that it contains.
I found no irritation of my eyes at all. I often don't wear mascara because I don't like the itchy feel a lot of them leave me with. This one is fine for me.
It stayed on well, I used it at my daughter's wedding and it survived my brimming eyes.
There is no doubt that this mascara does what it is designed to do very well. But.......
I think it is very expensive and in my opinion there is nothing in this mascara's performance which justifies the price. Other brands will do the same job for much less.
