Now my opinions on lip gloss/gels/balms can be pretty mixed. Having long hair, I tend to my glue it to my mouth in the wind, and end up with a beautifully coloured streak right up the side of my cheek as the gloss/gel is gracefully dragged along my face. Either that, or it lasts but two minutes on a hot sunny day when my hair is tied safely away, because I dared to get an iced tea…
There aren’t many lip gloss/gel products I have used that I actually like, so when I decided to try one from my oh-so-favourite Clarins, I was pretty nervous. I didn’t want to hate anything from the love of my life!
I ordered the gel balm online and it cost me £18 for a 12ml tube. The price can vary depending where you buy it from, but I still think this is a good price. The price I’d expect to pay for Clarins, anyway.
The tube itself is very pleasing to the eye. It comes in the colour to match your chosen gel – from pale pink ‘Rose Shimmer’ to a pearlescent brown ‘Rosewood Shimmer’. My gel was the pale pink mentioned, as I chose ‘Rosewood Shimmer’ for my shade. The lid is the signature gold, which I always have a soft spot for. It look luxurious and of quality. The name of the product is clearly printed in white, in both English and French as is standard with Clarins.
When you take the lid off the product, you may be surprised to see (as I was!) a little sponge on the tip of the tube. It is a tiny little white thing that with a small squeeze of your tube slowly turns the colour of you gel. Now, I have to say at this point that ‘rosewood shimmer’ is a stunning shade – a very pale pink, not at all sickly looking (by this I mean a sugary pink looking shade. I personally like that colour, but some people like a natural pink – this is it). It looks very natural on the lips, and no colour pops out obviously. It just makes the lips look healthy and full. The gel comes out the top of the sponge, and you are able to softly spread it on your lips. I cannot fault the ease of application of the product – usually with gel I get it all over the edges of my mouth and have to tidy up afterwards, but this didn’t happen with the cute tiny sponge. Perfect application immediately! Now the texture of the product itself is lovely. It isn’t at all sticky, and feels very silky smooth. Unfortunately my hair did still stick to it! But nowhere near as much as usually happens. And seeing as it is a softer feeling gel as opposed to sticky gloop, the hair was easily removed with no messy steaks up my face. Result!
So it is all well and good thinking the product is pretty, liking the sweet smell, and thinking the packaging is nifty, but I bought this product for 2 reasons:
1. My lips are dry, and the Shea Butter in the product promises to help with that as well as repair them (along with Wild Mango and other lovely helpers). As a bonus, this product helps protect against free radicals (the baddies in the environment that will damage your skin) by using derivative of Vit A and E. Awesome!
2. It is suggested that it can be worn over lipstick or alone. I like having that option, as although I have dry lips I still like to wear my lipsticks! Yes I know that can cause more dryness, but I am a lipstick junkie and admit it. That is party why I chose this shade; I figured it was least likely to look awful on my lipsticks – any colour I chose.
So for number 1, I obviously can’t say if my lips have been protected against free radicals, I have to take Clarins word on that! But I can definitely say they are much smoother. I have worn it for a week or two now, and I have noticed a difference. I have no flaky bits, and the dry patches are almost gone. My lips no longer look unsightly and painful! As previously mentioned, you can’t really see any colour when it is alone and it just makes the lips look full and healthy. I like this effect a lot. It disguised any dryness right away.
For number 2, this really does look great over lipstick. My favourite lippy is Clarins Rouge Prodige in ‘Rose Orchid’, and when I put this over the top the colour looks even more amazing! It does alter the lipstick colour slightly, which I expected, but what I didn’t expect was the result. The colour was slightly lighter, but somehow deeper – the purple was brought out much more in the lipstick. The gel also added a lovely sheen to the lips which looked simply beautiful. I was over the moon with the effect.
Sadly, this is where I have to add a little negativity to my review. The longevity of the gel is not very impressive in my opinion. I expected to apply the gel and not have to reapply for some time, but I found I did so a few times an hour, sometimes more. My lips definitely still felt soft, supple, and moisturised once the actual gel couldn’t be seen, but I had to reapply to get the look I wanted. I think this will make the price of the gel a lot less acceptable, as the product will not last long enough to warrant the cost. I also find that applying over my lipstick makes the lipstick come off very quickly; and I do not normally have a problem with my Rouge Prodige. I would ordinarily apply this every few hours or so, but with the gel, it came off within 20 minutes. This again makes me feel that the product just isn’t worthy of the cost.
Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector from Clarins will get 4 stars from me because it does help dry lips, the colour is beautiful, the application is effortless, and the packaging is of high quality. But the longevity of the product on the lips lets it down; and it isn’t very often I say something negative about a Clarins product.

When it comes to Christmas and birthdays I tend to tell family not to bother or just tell them to pop money in a card as I never find myself wanting anything specific. My mum in particular dislikes not buying me a gift and likes me to have "little treats" that she knows only I can use, as she tries to encourage me to look after myself. As a result my "little treats" usually take form of premium cosmetics or skincare products as she knows I probably wouldn't buy these for myself anymore. In my birthday goodie bag this year one of the gifts was the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector.
***Clarins Natural Lip Perfector***
The Clarins Natural Lip Perfector is a lipgloss which gives the impression of fuller smoother lips. The range of colours are all very subtle which give a natural colour whilst offering moisturising effects and protection.
The Clarins Natural Lip Perfector makes lips look fuller and have a natural looking shine as it contains light reflecting pigments. The product contains mango butter, Shea butter and vitamin A and E so it offers moisture and also prevents peeling and flaking.
The lip product comes in three different shades. These are rose shimmer; a pale pink colour, apricot shimmer; a pale peach colour and nude; a brown/ peach colour. All of these colours are very subtle and also very similar as they are so natural. My Mum purchased the rose shimmer for me therefore my review will be based on this shade.
The Clarins Natural Lip Perfector is available from a number of department stores which have a Clarins counter. This includes John Lewis, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Fenwicks and Selfridges. I usually find prices at these counters are higher than if you were to buy online and you are likely to pay around £18-£20 for a 12ml tube of this product if you purchase in store. At £20 for a lipgloss this definitely would be considered a "premium priced" lipgloss.
If you shop around online the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector is available at a more reasonable price. Online cosmetics stores such as www.eChemist.com , www.fragranceX.com and www.feelunique.com all sell this product. Feelunique.com sell all of the three colours of the 12ml product for £13 which is a very reasonable saving.
The Clarins Natural Lip Perfector comes is a 12ml tube which you can squeeze. On the end of the lipgloss is a sponge applicator so once you screw off the lid you can squeeze the tube to dispense the product and then run the sponge applicator over your lips to distribute the lipgloss. The sponge allows you to be very accurate in your application a lot more so than many lipglosses which just have a plastic slanted tip on the end of the tube.
I say lipgloss but the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector has less of a sticky, glossy lipgloss feel and more of a soft smooth balm type consistency. As a result I find not as much product is dispensed as the lip product is thicker so you get less wastage. After applying twice daily for over a month the tube was still about ¼ full of product so this is quite an economical purchase despite the higher initial outlay for a lipgloss type product.
The Rose Shimmer Clarins Lip Perfector smells very pleasant and has a very sweet creamy vanilla aroma. It is very sweet and very sickly but does taste good enough to eat. If you do get the lipgloss in your mouth it is not the most unpleasant sensation but it does leave quite a sweet greasy feel on your tongue therefore this is not a product good enough to eat!
The Clarins Natural Lip Perfector is very simple to apply and can be easily applied within 20 seconds. I have the Rose Shimmer colour and once applied to my lips I would say the colour is not the first thing that you notice. The most noticeable effect of the lipgloss onto my lips was their appearance. Unlike many "lipgloss" products the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector gives a more shimmery balm type look to lips rather than a wet, high shine gloss type look. This is very natural and I do feel lips look plumper but naturally emphasised and healthy because of the light reflecting on them.
Colour wise I would say the lip gloss in rose shimmer is a very natural colour and it is not immediately noticeable that you are wearing a coloured lip product. Compared with my natural lip colour there is a slightly more pink look to my lips but not a candy type pink colour like many "rose" coloured lipglosses give to lips. Rather than a block colour the rose shimmer has more of an opaque shimmery colour.
What I really like about the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector is it is very subtle and gives a natural make up look rather than making it obvious you are wearing a lip product. This is great for those that want to create the impression they are wearing not a lot of make up or for those that perhaps want to create nude lips because they are wearing a lot of eye make-up and do not want their lips to overshadow this look.
After applying I did feel my lips felt very smooth and soft and would definitely agree that this product from Clarins has moisturising effects. I was wearing this mainly during the winter months when my lips are prone to becoming dry and chapped and during the time I was wearing this on my lips I did not suffer chapped lips.
My main criticism of the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector is that it does not last on lips if you are eating or drinking. For the high price tag I would have expected a product with more staying power. If you go without eating or drinking after 2 hours of wear your lips look exactly the same as when applied. If you do eat or drink I find that although my lips still are left with a balmy moisturised look, I lose the shimmery effect so my lips do not look as full or plump.
This is a very subtle lip product great for those that want shiny, shimmery lips with a hint of natural colour but don't want the sticky feel of a lipgloss. I definitely feel after applying lips look smooth and the Clarins Natural Lip Perfector has moisturising effects which minimises dry flaking lips. The shimmery effect the Lip Perfector gives lips definitely makes lips look fuller.
My main disappointment with the product is that for £18 for a tube I did expect it to have more staying power on lips, especially through eating and drinking which removes the Lip Perfector from lips.
A product I love the effects of just not the price tag.
Clarins instant light natural lip perfector is pretty much just a lip gloss.
I received the Clarins instant light natural lip perfector as a gift from a family member much to my surprise because my family and friends know just how much i hate lip gloss its sticky, sweet and looks messy.
Clarins instant light natural lip perfector costs £15. You can buy Clarins instant light natural lip perfector from Boots, Debenhams, John lewis and strawberrynet.com online.
It comes in three colours, nude shimmer, rose shimmer and apricot shimmer, i was given the rose shimmer. Rose shimmer is a pale pink colour with a glitter look to it.
The tube is slim , plastic and clear so you can see the colour of the lip gloss. It has a screw silver lid and underneath is a small sponge top attached to the top of the tube. When giving the tube a gentle squeeze you can see a small amount of the pink lip gloss coming through the sponge.
Applying the gloss is easier with the sponge top , just squeeze and run it along the lips , i find it gives an even coat.
The scent of the Clarins instant light natural lip perfector rose shimmer is a strong smell of shea butter witch i love although others may not like it being strong.
I do find the lip gloss gives my lips a nice pink shimmer and this has been perfect over the summer when i have not put lip stick on. The pink tint is quiet weak and my lips are more glossy looking still i think it is a nice look. My lips do look plummer and the gloss doesn't feel as sticky as others so all in i'm pleased with the Clarins instant light natural lip perfector lip gloss. I did need to reapply it a few times throughout the day as it comes off or wears off quickly.
For luscious give Clarins instant light natural lip perfector a try.
I think anyone who regulary reads my reviews will of guessed by now that I am pretty addicted to lipstick and lipgloss! I have an enormous collection however this product is definetly one of my favourite lipglosses. The lipgloss retails at around the £15 mark and is available from a wide variety of places. I got mine from Boots in store as I had a Boots voucher. The colours available are Rose Shimmer, Nude Shimmer and Apricot Shimmer. I have the lipgloss in Apricot Shimmer and I absolutely adore it! It's a gorgeous sheer pink with undertones of a peachy sort of colour - it's amazing.
This lipgloss comes in an average looking lipgloss squeezy tube. The tube is transparent allowing the excact shade of the lipgloss to be visible which is handy if purchasing in store as it saves alot of time when choosing which colour that you want - it is very accurate so swatching the product is not neccessary. The tube has a screw-on silver lid which adds a bit of a luxury feel to the product. On the side of the tube there is the Clarins logo and it reads 'Eclat Minute Embellisseur Levris' which translates as Instant Light. Once the lid is screwed off the sponge applicator can be seen.
To use the product, I simply squeeze the tube gently and the lipgloss almost instantly forms on the surface of the sponge, making it ready to use. Applying it to my lips is extremely quick, easy and accurate and the soft sponge applicator is really soft and gentle on my lips. In my opinion the applicator is a great idea as it definetly makes the product last much longer as it doesn't allow any product to drip out and go to waste, although if you squeeze the tube too hard then you can't get it back into the tube so remember to be careful!
The first thing I noticed about the lipgloss was the smell. It smells amazing! Mine (apricot shimmer) has a very fruity smell to it which although is subtle it is noticeable. When the lipgloss is on my lips it doesn't feel too sticky/glossy and it's nice and lightweight. It definetly moisturizes my lips and makes them feel lovely. The colour is very sheer and gives a gorgeous subtle hint of sparkle/shine to my lips but it looks very natural if that makes sense. My lips also definetly look plumper (due to the 3d light reflecting particles it contains) and healthier as they look moist and fresh. The gloss doesn't highlight cracks in the lips. It also definetly makes my lips feel nice and soft even after it's been on for hours, this is because it contains Shea Butter.
The lipgloss lasts really well although requires a top up after eating/drinking and although it absorbs into the lips within an hour or so the glossy finish remains. Overall I would reccomend this product because it's high quality, lasts well and ofcourse looks/smells good.
Clarins is another premium cosmetics and skincare brand that I absolutely love. This is a product that I happened to try at a friend's house. She told me how much she loves it and urged me to try it. It is called a Natural Lip Perfector in the Instant Light range. The Instant Light range has a few other products in its range such as, the Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base and the Complexion Perfector. It is a range that in my opinion helps to give natural finishes to make-up and helps to enhance a make-up look without it being obvious that you have put lots of make-up on.
----------------------- WHAT IS THIS PARTICULAR LIP PRODUCT? ------------------------------
This product comes in three different colours: the rose shimmer (which is a pale pink), the apricot shimmer (which is a pale coral shade) and the nude (which is as the name says, a nude, skin colour). All of these colours are very natural shades, when I applied all three shades to the back of my hand in Boots I did not see a massive difference between the colours. The Clarins lady told me that her favourite colour was the nude and I tried it in store, the shade I tried at my friend's house was the rose shimmer which was also very nice (but very similar). I think Clarins could get away with just having the one nude shade.
This product has light reflective pigments and ingredients which help to make the lips look fuller, with a natural shine. It does not feel sticky in the slightest. The texture and consistency of the perfector is more of a balm/gel formula than a lipgloss. This is what I love about it the most. It also moisturises the lips with mango butter and shea butter and protects the lips preventing them from flaking and peeling with vitamins A and E.
I think it is a 'must-have' for the winter when our lips are more prone to flaking and peeling from the harsh weather.
-------------------------- DOES IT LAST WELL ON THE LIPS? -------------------------------
This product lasts on the lips for approximately 2 hours. It does not last through eating and drinking but I do not mind, especially as I only apply such products after I have eaten.
--------------------------- WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE? --------------------------------
The smell of this product is just amazing, and because it is applied to the lips (directly under the nose - in case you were not aware!) it smells incredible for the whole time in which you are wearing it. It smells like a mix of shea butter and vanilla (like cupcakes - if you have ever smelt the Yankee Candle in the Vanilla Cupcake scent it smells just like it - yummy!).
---------------------------- PACKAGING OF THE PRODUCT--------------------------------
The packaging is a really smart move by Clarins in an easy to squeeze tube (which I have never squeezed too much out of) with a sponge applicator at the end with a screw on lid. The sponge applicator is amazing; the product seeps through the sponge and onto the lips so easily which I think adds to the loveliness of this product. I am not a fan of lipglosses in a tube which you have to pump the wand in and out of.
A quick tip: if you ever sneakily put on any make-up whilst driving - or whilst you are stopped at a red light (which I do not for one second encourage you to do) then this is a very easy lip product to apply, it only require one hand!! Love it!
----------------- LAST OF ALL... HOW MUCH DOES THIS WONDER PRODUCT COST? ---------------------------
It costs £15.00 for 12ml which is not too bad for Clarins and I reckon it will last me a very long time because so little of it is needed in one application. It can be bought on http://www.feelunique.com/p/Clarins-Instant-Light-Natural-Lip-Perfector-12ml for £13.50 with free delivery.
At Christmas Clarins often has a giftset which includes miniatures of the Instant Light range usually with a 5ml of this product so look out for these because they are usually about £25.00 and are so useful to try out.
--------------------------- OVERALL -------------------------------
This is a fab lip product which protects and moisturises the lips whilst giving them a gorgeous shimmer with a divine smell! I love it because I can wear it everywhere and my lips still look natural but they feel and look amazing!
I Really like my lip glosses and use them almost all the time as I find my lips are very dry so a lip gloss adds a bit of moisture but very subtlety and naturally.I came across this lip gloss and purchased the nude shimmer shade for £12 which for a Clarin's product I thought was a good price.
The gloss comes in a 12 ml squeeze tube so you just need to lightly squeeze the tube and the gloss comes out very slowly. Then you just lightly rub across your lips and apply a small layer of gloss cause this is all you need. As soon as you apply the product to your lips they feel softer and more moisturised.
When applied the lip gloss does not feel sticky but in fact feels really light and soft. It gives a real plump looking effect but at the same time does not feel too heavy. The shimmer in the gloss gives and illuming effect but at the same time is not too over bearing. The colour is noticeable but in a very natural way so you can see you have make up on but do not look over loaded.
Once applied the gloss last for ages a good few hours which on experiences with gloss is great as usually after an hour there is no sign of it left on my lips. However I can apply this and 3 hours later I can still feel the gloss on my lips providing the protection needed for my lips. It is a great 2 in 1 as I often get chapped lips this helps prevent that and gives my lips a nice little colour and helps define them.
Over all this is a great product light moisturising and comes in lovely natural shades. Only a small amount is needed and it lasts for ages so works out being great value for money although it seems a lot on first sight. Would definitely recommend this product especially if you often get chapped lips.
I was given this product by a friend for my birthday in the shade rose shimmer. This is a pinkish colous but still quite natural. I am known for not using lipstick, prefering to use lip balms or lip tints that are less harsh looking, so this product was a perfect gift for me!
Price: When i looked into it this product costs £12 for 12ml, it does seem quite expensive but at clarins you expect to pay that little bit more for a quality product.
Packaging: Considering it is just a lip gloss tube, Clarins still manage to make this product look classy and expensive. However it has lost some of its colouring over time which makes it look a little tired. There is a sponge at the end of the clear tube for use when applying the product. I am not as fan of products with built in applicators but this one works well.
Application: This lip product smells lovely and is really nice on the lips. it goes on easily and is not overly sticky like some lip glosses can be. The sponge aids application, allowing the product to get into all the contours of the lips.
Performance: Clarins say this product provides a 3D shimmer and provides natural colour. They say it nourishes, repairs and protects. I feel that it comes good on these claims. When wearing the product my lips look gorgeous and it provides a lovely shimmer. I imagine this would look great on top of lipsticks too. My lips feel good whilst wearing it and also when its been removed, they feel nice and soft. My only concern is it doesn't last very long and I find I have to reapply it often, meaning that the tube doesn't last very long, making the product more expensive than it initially seemed.
I really like this product though and will buy it for myself once this tube is gone. Its just subtle enough for my liking! I would recommend this product.
I currently own both the nude shimmer and rose shimmer versions of this Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector from Clarins, each 12ml tube cost £10.99 and there is a third colour called apricot shimmer. Out of the two that I won I do like the pink shimmer as it adds a bit of colour to my lips however the nude shimmer also is a great product and well worth trying.
They come is clear squeezable tubes with a silver top that they stand on as the tube tapers at the other end. As far as lip glosses go there is nothing remarkable about the packaging however it is the contents of the tube that really matters and on this point Clarins have produced a winner. When you take the lid off you will see a sponge underneath it, when you squeeze the tube some of the lip gloss absorbs into the sponge and you are able to apply it to your lips easily enough. There is a shape to the sponge to allow it to adapt to the contours of your mouth. It is a nice design feature and works really well.
The effect on my lips is superb, they feel very refreshed and mositurised as the lip gloss is applied, they also feel nice and smooth, I like the pink colouring that is left on my lips as they have a healthy glow to them, it is certainly as good as any moisturising balm that I have used in the past. There is a slight glimmer to your lips as well after application but it is only a slight effect and nothing over the top. With the nude colour it is possibly a more pronounced glimmer in my opinion while the pink adds a bit of colour however this is a subtle pink not the shocking pink kind.
It lasts really well on my lips even in the cold of winter. I find that it does protect my lips in the winter and overall this is a great product that I would certainly recommend.
I've been using Clarins products for a number of years and on one of my most recent shopping trips I ended up getting a complimentary 5 ml tube of the Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector. The colour of the sample was rose shimmer and after using it only once I knew I had to go and buy the full sized version! I bought the same shade; Rose shimmer in the 12 ml tube and paid £12.00. The products come in three shades; the one I purchased, nude shimmer and Apricot shimmer. All three colours are very natural looking but I preferred the pink shade as I liked the colouring it gave my lips. For the purpose of the review any references to colour are down to the Pink Shimmer shade that I bought.
The lip perfector comes in a squeezy pink tube with a tall silver screw on lip. I hate fiddly little lids that are easily lost and find the design of this tube quite refreshing. The lid is big enough so that you can grip it easily to take off. The silver paint on the lid has started to come off as it gets bashed around the million and one other items in my hand bag. This is not a major problem but when you spend £11.00 on a lip gloss you want to show it off! The pink tube is soft and very squeezable so you can get the most out of the product. I hate it when I buy lip glosses and I can see lots of product left inside the tube but the lip gloss wand cannot reach it.
The lip gloss comes out easily when the tube is squeezed and soaks onto the application sponge located under the lid. I really like the sponge application end as it feels like my lips get a mini massage every time I apply it. The sponge is angled to fit the contours of your mouth and I find that the gloss is easier to put on because the sponge tip is easier to control and helps the product spread out more equally. The only downside I have found to the sponge tip is that when applying the lip protector over lip stick, the colour of the lip stick transfers on to the sponge tip so it is slightly tainted. For this reason I always now apply the perfector underneath any other lip products.
The product is not like any other gloss I have found. It is gel like in consistently and it is not sticky at all and feels more like a balm. It is very moisturizing and makes my lips feel smooth. I can use this product right through the winter when I have extremely dry and chapped lips and it acts as a moisturising balm. As soon as I applied this product for the first time, my lips felt wonderfully smooth and soft with a hint of glimmer. The product is really natural and subtle. It adds a hint of colour and makes the lips look shiny, shimmery and well conditioned. The colour is subtle and natural looking. If you want a heavier colour then I suggest that you look for another product as these will not give you the dark luscious colours you may be expecting.
Clarins claim that the lip perfector along with giving your lips 3D shimmer for a natural-coloured, luminous smile, it nourishes, repairs and protects the lips.
I agree with Clarins; this product does nourish the lips. The product contains extracts of mango, shea butter and vitamin A and E. These are all designed to protect and care for the skin.
The product is slightly scented. I do not usually like scented lip glosses as I find them a bit childish. However I really love the smell of this product. It is a sweet, creamy vanilla scent. It is not overpowering and rather subtle but if you do not like scented products it would be best you try this one out before you buy it.
I am overjoyed with this product and simply love it. I wear lip liner with this over the top and find the look subtle but sexy at the same time. My lips look glossy and well looked after. I like the shimmer aspect of the gloss; it is enough to reflect the light but doesn't look glittery in any way. I love the smell and think that it smells delicious.
I re apply the product a few times a day and unfortunately don't find it stays on the lips as long as I would like. Luckily, due to the sponge applicator every time I apply it, it feels like a mini lip massage so I tend to enjoy putting it on.
A tube will last me about 3 months which for £11.00 I do not think is too bad.
I would definitely recommend this product.

I first came across this lip gloss in my friends make-up bag at a party when mine had worn off and this looked really nice on me so I bought my own online at uk.clarins.com, it cost me around £11 which is not a bad price to pay for a lip gloss and it can cost up to £14 depending on where you buy it from. You usually get a saving online if you browse around but then you have to pay for the postage so it works out about the same price as from a retail shop.
The tubes are plastic and squeezy so that you can get the very last drop onto the applicator when it's running out, I like this as you get good value for your money.
The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector comes in two colours there's the rose shimmer and the apricot shimmer. I buy the rose shimmer as it looks nice and subtle on my lips, it's not a loud pink as the name suggests but has a light covering and is more of a sheen on the lips than a colour to be seen.
This protects the lips in windy weather too so your lips won't dry out and it is packed with vitamin A and E which is really good for the skin. The ingredients are extracts of Shea Butter, Wild Mango and plant perhydrosqualene, shea butter has also been used on skin for softening and making the skin supple although you can't really taste the mango the lip gloss does smell nice and fruity.
I like the way this lasts for a while on the lips, it doesn't feel sticky as you only need a thin layer to cover the lips and make them shimmer. It doesn't leave marks on cups like some lipsticks and feels good to wear.
You can apply it on it's own or over lipstick but I like it on it's own.
The applicator is a sponge on a long stick and can be swiped across the lips gently for a smooth covering.
I can recommend it to you as a good pproduct that lasts when wearing it and it's good value for money as my tube lasted me about two months but I was only wearing it about two or three times a week.
It fits easily into your make up bag and is convenient to re-apply anywhere as you don't need a mirror to apply it just wipe it over the lips and your ready.
This has been my makeup bag staple for some years now. I used to buy a bobbi brown lipgloss which was a perfect neutral colour but was so sticky my then boyfriend (now husband) wouldn't kiss me. Natural lip perfector is different. It has the perfect neutral colour and lasts on your lips for ages, but your hair doesn't get stuck to it. It is also a lot lighter to wear than a lipstick and has a slight shimmer which is really attractive. The lip perfector is very easy to apply. There is a sponge applicator attached and it means you are not using a brush like you would with a lipgloss. It means you can apply on the run without worrying about going over the outline of your lips... and because it is a transparent application you never look messy. This is a really neutral and classic shade - would recommend.
The Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector cost me £12.60 from John Lewis - which I ordered online and then received it 2 working days later. The three colours that are available from John Lewis are Rose Shimmer, Apricot Shimmer and Nude Shimmer. From the look of the samples online, I thought the Apricot Shimmer looked too orangey from my skin tone, and so I opted for the Rose Shimmer (a subtle pink) and for the Nude Shimmer (a pinky - beige).
The Lip Perfector is a lip-gloss which comes in a squeezy and transparent plastic tube with a metal lid. Under the lid is a sponge applicator, which fills with the gloss when you gently squeeze the tube. I have found that I only need to very gently squeeze the tube to get enough gel out onto the applicator. One thing to bear in mind is that you should only squeeze gently because if you squeeze too much out, you will not be able to get it back into the tube. Although each tube only contains 10 mls (which didn't sound like very much to me), in actual fact its lasted me really well.
Application of the gloss is smooth, easy and even with the use of the sponge applicator. The gloss is not gloopy and feels thinner than most other lip glosses - which is partly this which means you are left with a natural look. Having said that, it does leave my looks looking like they have a bit of a shimmer and gleam to them - but this look is subtle and very much understated. The colours are also natural and instead of masking the natural colour of your lips, they seem to enhance and accentuate them instead. I particularly like the Nude Shimmer colour as this seems to really help if you are going for that natural summer - kissed look.
A bonus of using this lip gloss is that it is also good for your lips as it has active ingredients which moisturize (Shea Butter and Wild Mango) and repair and protect (Vitamin A and Vitamin E). I have to admit that using this lip gloss has left my lips in really good condition so that they look better even when I'm not using the Clarins Lip Protector.
This is essentially expensive lip gloss which may be over priced, but having said that, it is good quality and lasts a long while, as well as being nourishing to your lips. I say kiss your lips with this and treat yourself!
I have tried both these shades and I love this product.
The lip perfector is like a lipgloss but instead of sitting on your lips it seems to sink in like a balm and leave a nice moist sheen in a very natural shade sitting on your lips. I think it looks like my lips are plumper when i am wearing it.
I first bought the nude colour and thought this was excellent at providing a light slick of moisture without having any sticky gloopy high colour effect. It worked well with my natural colours and really brought my makeup together for work (usually use a light foundation and subtle peachy blush). I am a brunette and the pink looks a little more like I am wearing something, but brings out the pink in my cheeks so i still like it.
Both tubes are soft plastic and have a sponge applicator top under the lid. When you squeeze the tube gloss forms on the surface of the sponge and you can apply it. I find this is good at not letting you squeeze out too much gloss and so you don't waste the product. Saying that, if you DO squeeze out too much, it won't go back into the tube!! So don't squeeze too hard. I am at the end of one tube now and the plastic is great because you can squeeze every last drop out!
The smell of this product is divine - like toffee!
I must have tried a fair few lip products over the years, looking for something that was natural looking, yet enhancing, and something that would also make my lips feel nice and moisturised too. I find many glosses too sticky (or too glossy!) and balms don't really do much for the colour of your lips. So I was delighted to find this Clarins product really seems to do everything you could want from a lip product!
It really does feel as if it is doing your lips some good and mine always feel very moisturised when I'm wearing it - it is just as easy to use if your lips are quite dry (which I find you can't do with traditional glosses as they just seem to stick to the dry bits!). It gives you that polished look without feeling like you are wearing lots of product. Apparently you can also use it over lipstick to help it last longer but I haven't actually tried this.
It is marketed as a nourishing product but it also has 3D light reflecting particles in it which help give the lips a plumper look. I think the colour is really good - subtle but definitely a perceptible shimmer. It comes in three colours, Rose Shimmer, Apricot Shimmer and Nude Shimmer (which is just clear). I prefer the Rose which I would say suits pale-skinned people like me, whereas the apricot looks great on darker skins or more olive complexions. It also has a good smell, a fruity sort of vanilla!
It costs around £12 which seems quite a lot for a lip product maybe but it does last for ages so I think it is worth the money. Useful for summer and winter, all in all a great product.
A softly textured lip gel with a deliciously sweet scent / Lips are left looking soft, smooth, shiny and plump / Sheer, but has enough colour to wear alone or to complement your favourite lip shade.
