This is not a cheap lipstick but it is an excellent quality one and that is why I would recommend it. One of the really big plus factors is that it has excellent staying power and also holds its shape on my lips so it looks great and retains those great looks all night long, or at least until that time that I decide to remove it.
The packaging is rather stylish as the lipstick comes in a gold casing which has very smooth lines and looks quite expensive, sometimes gold coloured items just look a bit tacky but this one manages to carry the look off. There are lots of different colours and shades to choose from, the one I currently have is a rather dark red colour which is slightly vampish however that look is only really achieved if you slather it on which I do not.
It applies to my lips smoothly and does not leave them feeling sticky which is another reason I really rate this lipstick and it stays on your lips and does not come off even when drinking wine which is another positive. It looks great and as I said before it lasts a long time on my lips. In fact the only real downside is that it takes a bit of effort to remove at the end of the night but I'm happy to put up with this because of the quality of the look it gives my lips. It makes them look nice and plump and the colours are great as well.
While it does not mositurise my lips neither does it dry them out either so I do not have the urge to lick them constantly. At around the £15 mark this is a great range of lipsticks and well worth checking out.
My sister swears by the Clarins rouge prodige lipstick and after admiring her lips on a few occasions i decided to save all of my Boots vouchers that i earn online and treat myself to the lipstick. I never usually spend more than £5.99 on lipstick but this one is a luxury item to proudly have in the make up bag.
Clarins rouge prodige lipstick £18.00 from Boots. Clarins have a few good colours in this range like, miami pink, dark chocolate, tea rose, raspberry sorbet and red prodige to name a few. I got to test a few of the colours i was interested in but the colour of the lipstick it true to form and goes on the skin the same shade.
I picked raspberry sorbet number 111, i took this shade because its a nice dark pink with a slight ting of red it looks lovely. I am not keen on bright red lips so the raspberry sorbet fits well with me.
The packaging of the lipstick is a simple small slim red box with the brand Clarins and the colour written on the bottom of the box along with the number. Inside the box is a gold shiny lipstick, it is gold all over and the lid clicks well and stays on the lipstick so even if its rolling around the handbag it wont come off because its so stiff, i like this as i have ruined so many lipsticks and handbags because of the dodgy lids.
One the lid has been taken off you see the lipstick and the gold holder, this has Clarins written on it and the lipstick stands out. You have to turn the bottom of the lipstick to get the stick to come up to use, its slightly angled for easy application.
The lipstick has a slightly sweet smell but no strong and when applying to the lips its very smooth with a creamy texture , it really glides on to the lips. It feels nice when on the lips.
It gives a distinctive colour and lipstick look. I have found the lipstick lasts around six hours before needing reapplied, i think this is a good amount of time especially on nights out and your drinking fluids etc.
This might only be me i found wearing the lipstick everyday really dried out my lips so now only use it on nights out instead of an everyday lipstick. This also surprised me because it is creamy it gives the impression it may actually moistures my lips but doesn't.
I love the colour and wouldn't mind adding more from the range however at this price its a rare treat and as i don't use the lipstick everyday it would be a splurge for nothing.
I will recommend this lipstick because its a really nice product and lovely colours available. I only give three stars due to the fact it dries my lips out and price.
I like to wear lipstick now and then and came across this Clarins Rouge Prodige Lipstick online at Boots, I like to buy online as I live rural and don't get into town a lot, but I have to pay for postage and this cost me £4 to have it delivered but thats about the same price I have to pay to put petrol in the car to drive to town, so for me I am still saving money by having a product delivered to my door.
This it cost me £17 and was delivered within three days.
The lipstick is a sleek gold style casing which is quite elegant for any womans make-up bag, I like getting this one out and applying it as it looks like an expensive brand, even though the average price of a good quality lipstick can be a little more than the £17 which I paid and I must admit to paying more for a well named brand lipstick that I trust so I was happy to pay this price.
The lipstick isn't a soft one and keeps it shape well as you wear down the stick, it doesn't go soft in the heat of the day like some I have bought before and left out of the make-up bag and come back to it later to see it has lost it's shape. This one is a good solid stick and the choice of colours you get is a wide enough range to suit all skin tones and tastes.
There are around twenty eight different shades to chose from so there are too many to name without doing a huge list of them, but they range from a very light neutral colours through to the pinks, peaches and reds then to the browns and darker tones.
I like a varied choice of colours but usually tend to stick to the same tone.
One that matches my skin tone, the lipstick does actually last for a long time as you wear it through the daytime and doesn't feel sticky on your lips, yet it isn't absorbed into the lips quickly.
It doesn't leave marks on the cups when you drink which is another plus for me as I hate to see this when I have made someone a cuppa and they go and leave the marks on the cups.
This doesn't dry the lips out either as it has waxes in it that help to keep the lips soft and supple, its not a glossy lipstick though so you can get the neutral look if you don't like to have make-up on that stands out too much.
I'm happy to recommend this to you as it is one of my favourites.
I enjoy wearing lipsticks or more particularly lip stains (so it does not transfer on boyfriend's cheek) but seeing as I was doing a night out with the girls, I wanted to look good for the camera.
I am a fan of my deep colours and I bought this in boots in the Mystic Plum colour which is a cross between purple and red and it cost me £14 which is usual for good lipsticks from the counters.
The lipstick has a neat gold case with the normal twist function for the lipstick to appear, one added feature that I like about the lipstick is the angled shape for ease of application on the lips, it glides on smoothly with one sweep and just pucker your lips and go! The colour is quite matte as opposed shiney and glossy. However I find that with my sensitive lips after about 2 hours, my lips feel quite dry, probably due to the more mattifying ingredient opposed to the glossy one.
The lipstick has a sweet taste that sort of reminds me of Vimto... but it is not a foul taste (for someone that LOVES Vimto Fizzy like me!) The colour does most of the day (6 hours?) and even after rubbing it off, it does leave a little bit of non-transferable colour stain which I do like.
I do not often wear lip stick as I find that it leaves my lips dry and prefer lip gloss but when I'm going on big nights out I like to wear a bit of colour and so while browsing boots I decided to purchase this Clarins lip stick in paradise pink. It cost me £14 which I thought was high price but I know that Clarins products are really good.
The lipstick comes in a gold case with the usual twist function to make the product twist up out of the top of the tube. The tube is a little thick than most of my lipsticks so I thought it may be a little strange to hold while applying it but it actually makes it easier it sits more comfy in your hand.
The lipstick begins with an angle to it so that it is easy to apply and this can be continued easily to make the lip stick easier to apply. It goes on very easily just 1 sweep of the lips are needed and it transfers on very easily.
The lipstick is very soft and light and is barely noticeable when on my lips. It is moist and does not dry my lips out as most lip sticks do which is great cause my lips chap easily. The colour is vibrant yet not too over the top and it also has a really good shine to it but not so it looks like your lips is wet which is great.
The lipstick itself has a real sweet taste and smell its rather unusual for a lipstick to have such a strong scent yet not be annoying or have a foul taste so I was rather impressed. It lasts all day I can put in on in the morning go about my normal day and even after several cups of tea running round lunch all the things that usual prove to rub my lipstick off this stays put and only needs a small touch up around 5 hours later which I think is absolutely brilliant.
Over all I think it is great there are a range of colours to choose from so a colour to suit everyone and although it costs that extra money with not needing to keep reapplying it soon works out at what would be the same price of a cheaper brand of lipstick. As I rarely wear lipstick this has lasted me well over a year but even with regular use I'm sure this would last a long time as only 1 sweep of the lips is needed each time it is applied.
Clarins was started in 1954 by Jacques Courtin-Clarins, when he opened the first Clarins Institut in Paris. Later, his two sons Christian and Olivier also joined Clarins, and they're still the President and the Director General of the company to this day. Clarins has become a permanent fixture on the British high street, with counters in department stores up and down the country. The company is world-renowned for creating high-quality products, including for the face and body, make up, fragrances, sun products and products for men.
The product which I will review today is the Clarins Rouge Prodige True-Hold Colour and Shine Lipstick, which is currently priced £17 on both the Clarins and Boots websites. There are over 20 shades available, including pinks, reds and nudes. I own shade 109 Rosewood.
What Clarins say: "An unrivalled formula that delivers long-lasting lip colour, shine and exceptional comfort. High Fidelity Pearl technology ensures that colour and shine stay true for hours while the creamy rich texture provides nourishing skin care lip benefits."
First of all, this lipstick looks really posh and good quality. The casing is sleek and gold, and once you've removed the lid, the lipstick twists smoothly and gently up out of an elegant gold tube. There's no doubt that it looks really good quality, but for me I think it looks a little too grown up. I can imagine my Gran using something looking like this, but of course it should be the lipstick that counts, not its packaging!
This lipstick is so easy to apply. It's very smooth and creamy, and just glides on. It doesn't drag or feel dry, and once applied your lips will feel really soft and smooth. If I was judging it on this alone I'd give it five stars, as the application is a pleasure.
It doesn't have any sparkle and isn't high gloss, but does give your lips a nice sheen. It doesn't feel sticky or gloopy at all, but does give your lips a slightly moist look. It's hard to describe but it looks lovely and feels great to wear.
I was lucky enough to win this lipstick so didn't have a choice in the colour which is a shame. The shade that I own is almost exactly the same colour as my lips, so although when it's applied my lips have a slight gloss to them, you can't notice the colour at all. I know this isn't a fault of the product, but for most people if you want to notice your lip colour I'd recommend choosing a brighter or darker shade.
Now, this is supposed to be a long lasting lipstick, but with my one being the same colour as my lips it's very hard to judge where the lipstick ends and my lips begin. However, I've done my best.
The shine lasts a while (a couple of hours at most), but doesn't withstand the trauma that is eating a meal and having a drink. This isn't uncommon with lipsticks, as your lips do take quite a battering during mealtimes, but on examining my lips after finishing meals I get quite a shock. It might be hard to notice with the shade that I own, but I could discern that the colour itself was still there on my lips. This is unheard of! A lipstick lasting throughout a meal? Whatever next?! The shine doesn't last that long, but the colour stays around for hours and hours! I'm sure that this would be much more noticeable with the darker or brighter colours.
I haven't experienced any transfer with this product, or any smearing or bleeding. Once it's on, the colour stays put.
The major downside with this product, in my opinion, is that even before the shine has worn off, my lips begin to feel very dry. I have a bit of an obsession with lip balm and having soft, smooth, moisturised lips, and hate the feeling of dryness. However, I found this lipstick very drying and soon felt that I needed a top up or some lip balm...but with the colour still remaining, I couldn't do that as I'd mess up my lip balm! I don't know what "nourishing skin care lip benefits" Clarins were talking about, but in my opinion they don't work. It starts out creamy and soft, but soon feels dry and uncomfortable. That's the price you have to pay for getting a long lasting lipstick, I guess, and it's up to you to decide which is more important to you.
Overall, I think this lipstick is a bit of a let-down. It looks great and starts of really well, but the drying effect is something which I just can't overlook. For the rather hefty price tag and the brand name I was expecting something a lot better, although it appears to be very good quality. For me, I'm pleased I won it rather than having bought it myself, as I haven't been that impressed. I think that if this is the type of make-up that you can afford to buy regularly, you won't think it's anything special and you can probably get a lot better for your money; if this would be an extravagant treat for you, I think you'll be disappointed so look elsewhere.
I love lipstick, it's my main make-up vice and definitely where my money goes as far as cosmetics are concerned. I bought this Clarins Rouge Prodige one on a whim while in Boots recently, the golden minimalistic packaging appealed to me and it was also available in a gorgeous dusty red shade (red being my signature colour) which I loved as soon as I saw it. Incidentally, the number code for my specific shade is 101 but there doesn't seem to be a shade name anywhere - I suggest you nip to your local Clarins counter to see the different colours available.
The lipstick is intensely moisturising, as soon as I apply it I can feel my lips starting to soak up the moisture within the lipstick. I do find Clarins lipsticks can be quite drying but this definitely isn't the case with this one. I started wearing this when we had that mini heatwave at the beginning of April; my lips were looking and feeling parched due to the drastic change in temperatures at the time, but after exclusively using this lipstick for a couple of days they were in much better condition and a week later were in their usual kissable state.
The Rouge Prodige lipstick has a lovely creamy consistency which makes it so nice to apply. When it was brand new (ie. the first couple of times I used it) I found the end was slightly too pointed and this made application a bit fiddly, but after that it melted down into a nicer shape. I always use a lipliner, and I think you'd really need to with this lipstick as the colour once applied is so intense that I'm sure it would bleed if you didn't create a liner barrier.
I absolutely ADORE wearing this lipstick, it's such a sexy colour that it makes me feel good every time I apply it. The colour is so up to date (surprisingly for Clarins!) that it looks good however I decide to do the rest of my make-up and whatever outfit I'm wearing. It makes a fab going out lip colour, but to be honest I wear red lippy during the day too and can tell you it's definitely not overpowering or 'tarty' looking.
The colour lasts for hours, in fact it's one of the longest lasting lipsticks I own - and believe me, I own lots of them! Another thing I love about it, which wasn't made particularly clear on the packaging, is that the Rouge Prodige lipstick gives my lips the most amazing shine. It's not lipgloss shine but has a glossy finish that looks absolutely amazing and lasts almost as long as the actual colour. As an example I applied my lippy at 9am today, it's now 5pm and it still looks fab - if I was popping out (which I'm not) I'd only need to give it another coat to bring the colour back as bright as I like.
There is one issue that I think Clarins need to look at, and this is the fact that the lipstick lid doesn't fit very well. Providing you push it on properly it'll stay in place but you know what it's like when you're in a rush, tops aren't always clicked into place before you throw your lippy into your bag ready to hit the town - and considering the price of this one it'd be nothing short of a tragedy to lose the top and have the creamy colour covered in bag-fluff!
I paid £17 for this excellent lipstick and it's honestly worth every penny, I'd go as far as saying that I would definitely pay more as it's such a fantastic product and an essential for my make-up bag.
