A new clinique product landed in my life and I was very excited to try it! The eye serum with a rollerball on the end promised de puffing eye massage action and I was definitely up for that.
First impressions, size and price
The peach coloured tube is instantly recognisable as Clinique and my generous five ml sample was a third of the full priced 15 ml size. This product costs £23 in Boots at the moment.
You could not find a simpler item than this to use. It's a simple screw top, then use the metal roller ball directly on the eye area and a small amount of serum is delivered to the delicate skin around the eye area without dragging or pulling your skin.
How does it work?
This works instantly and is extremely cooling. the roller ball helps massage away bags, then refreshes and hydrates puffy eyes on contact.
Anything which reduces the look of tired eyes is welcome in my life. I like trying out any skin care which helps combat ageing and my eyes are always a direct giveaway when I am tired. This does feel really cooling upon application, thanks to the roller ball applicator.
Watch out for...
This product comes in a slightly squeezy tube but it works well with gravity alone and if you do squeeze it be careful as the product can drip out of the tube and you don't want to waste the precious eye bag saviour!
Would I repurchase this eye serum? Probably not as it is a skincare step I forget to do in addition to night care but it is nice and cooling so I would consider a summer purchase in the future.
I’ve been a fan of the Clinique Moisture Surge and ‘All About Eyes’ products for years and was quite excited to discover that there is now an eye serum in a roller ball pack. The roller ball contains 15 mls of under eye serum and bought alone, costs around GBP22 though I bought it as part of a three part gift set in duty free. The serum contains caffeine and soothing plant extracts. Since this is a thick liquid rather than a gel or cream, a little goes a very long well and there’s really no waste. I struggle with eye gels and creams to dispense the right amount. With the roller ball, you can easily use just the amount you want and get it to exactly where you want it. The metal ball seems to stay very cool and delivers a cool, light massaging effect.
The shape of the tube has indents on either side to make it easy to hold and to control when in use. I generally upturn the tube a couple of times to make sure there will be liquid on the roller, then screw off the cap and apply it. The guidance says you should roll it across the skin from the inner corner of the eye to the outer corner twice. On the skin, the effect is wet and cool and the serum soaks in very quickly. I like that I don’t have to pat it into place. When using a cream, I have a bad habit of accidentally poking myself in the eye but the roller ball doesn’t cause this problem.
The full name of the product is “All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage” which clearly indicates it’s supposed to be good for under-eyes that are puffy. I don’t have this problem, nor do I have dark circles for which it’s also supposed to be a good choice. In fact, looked at in cold hard terms, I probably shouldn’t have bought this because it’s targeting problems that I don’t have. However, because it’s so easy to use, so hygienic (because I don’t have to put my fingers in it) and so lacking in waste, I’m still happy to have it. If it does miracles for puffy and dark circled eyes, I can’t see it can do any harm for mine. I do sometimes keep this in my bag and use it when I’m tired, to give a bit of moisture boost and to wake me up a little bit.
I love the design of this one, like the way it makes my skin feel, and I appreciate the hygienic massaging applicator. My only reservation – and the reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 – is that I’m not 100% sure that I’m using it correctly and I still don’t know if I should use a cream as well.
I bought this when it was first launched, i was in Debenhams and was approcahed by a rather beautiful young girl who told me she used this serum herself.....if she could look that good then why couldnt I? Duly bought i took it home.
I have always used Clinique products as my skin is really sensitive and can be a little blotchy, having tried various other products including haemorrhoid cream (apparently this is supposed to reduce puffiness around the eyes and all the models use it!?), where nothing does what it says, or in the case of the haemorrhoid cream, stung like crazy. I suffer with 'bags' under my eyes a lot of the mornings and although i dont have dark circles yet, im sure these will follow if i dont sort the puffiness. I have used creams in the evenings to reduce this glorious look but in fact, it would only appear worse in the morning so i really need something a little different.
I was rather hoping to get the serum with the Bonus Time scheme but that wasnt available, the girl gave me a few samples of other products and i duly paid my £28 (rather pricey), I know there are cheaper versions but i hadnt tried these for fear of getting that much skin irritation my eyes closed altogether and that would have been disastrous at the school playground the following day! It was a 15ml mascara sized potion that has a metal rollerball action, dispensing a slither of soothing lotion in the undereye area, the packaging was the usual green Clinique box and was nothing less than i expected....it looks good.
I decided i would use the serum in the morning after the school drop as i would have a chance to sort any reaction quite quickly, and indeed i was expecting this. I had cleaned my face and without makeup set to work with the product. It contains antioxidants and botanical substances but its main power is the caffeine and this was the key ingredient i believe. It was lovely and refreshing when applied and just a few rolls were enough under each eye. I waited for 30 minutes to see if there was an effect (adverse) but i didnt feel any irritation at all, so I applied my makeup and continued through the day.
Over the period of about 3 months i can honest say that as refreshing as the serum feels, i cant really say I saw any lasting effects from it, maybe its better for dark circles than puffiness, which it tackled as soon as it was applied but didnt seem to last the day and when you are wearing makeup, its difficult to remove this, reapply and then put the makeup back on.
Overall, i would say that this serum is good but i guess that maybe a lot that use the same method will be as good, the advantage with the Clinique one is that we know its anti allergenic. Apparently, some people have an allergy to caffeine so i would maybe try a cheaper version before you part with the money for this one....always best to check. I would only buy this again if i had a lot of spare cash as it didnt really give me a lasting solution to my puffiness but or those of you with dark circles, i believe it may be worth the investment.
I have dark rings around my eyes and they are often puffy. I usually just cover them with concealer, but I do keep an eye out for other solutions. Before trying this one, I had actually tried a cheaper version from Avon and wasn't that impressed with it. I figured that Clinique was a reputable brand and when this one was on offer in an airport somewhere, I decided to give it a go.
I have been using the serum for about three months now and the thing that I like most about it is that it really does sooth my eyes. it is cooling and makes them feel so much fresher, particularly when I am tired. It is very easy to apply because it has a roller ball ending on the of it. I think the metal roller ball actually does help with the soothing as well because it is quite cool to the skin.
I have found since using it that my eyes feel a lot less puffy as well. My husband has even commented that they look less puffy too, which shows that it must do the job because husbands aren't very well known for noticing things like that.
The only thing that I don't particularly like about the serum is that whilst it is drying, it tightens the skins a bit around my eyes and makes them quite dry. This is an easily rectified problem though because you can use moisturiser on top of the serum. It actually says that you can apply it over the top of make up but I haven't tried that because I can only imagine that the liquid would smear anything underneath it.
The serum costs about £20 at normal price although I have seen it online from £17. I got mine, like I said, from the airport on offer for about £12. I paid £9 for the Avon one that wasn't that good, so paying a few pounds more for one that works was great value for me. Even at full price I think it is quite good and worth it.
The serum is designed to sooth your eyes and it claims that it can reduce dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. I think it does the first and third things, but I'm not so sure about the second. To be honest I didn't really expect it to be able to because I don't think that anything can genuinely reduce dark circles. But it is good enough at the other things to still give it four stars.
As you might know from my previous reviews, I really like Clinique skincare and tend to use a lot of their products. This All About Eyes Serum depuffing eye massage roller pen is one which I received in a Bonus Time gift with purchase goodie bag a month or so ago from House of Fraser. The full sized product contains 15 ml of serum, whereas mine is a miniature version containing only 5ml. Other than that it is the same.
I am quite conscious of taking good care of the skin around the eye area, as I have a tendency to get some dark circles there and if I don't get enough sleep my eyes can look puffy and squinty, which I hate! I am also starting to notice some people getting slight crows feet from my age onwards (I will be in my "late" 20s from my next birthday!), so I am paranoid about that too (though I don't have any yet...) and am therefore always on the look out for a good eye product to try.
I have been using this serum in the mornings only, as I prefer a richer eye cream at night (All About Eyes cream which was one of my early reviews). The serum is easy to apply by simply rolling the metal ball over the undereye area in a gentle motion. A small amount of serum is transferred onto the skin. This feels instantly refreshing and cooling, which is partly due to the cold metal as well as the serum itself. Clinique say that it hydrates and brightens the eye area, reducing the appearance of puffiness and dark circles. It definitely does help my eyes feel more awake and revitalised, banishing the puffiness and making my eyes look wider open. Some eye serums make the skin feel tighter, but I do not experience that sensation from this serum at all. It feels very gentle and mild.
I was sceptical of the claim that it can reduce dark circles, as I have never found anything which can really get rid of them, but in fact I do think they have improved a bit over the weeks I have been using this. It is hard to tell whether it is really all down to the serum or just a coincidence or because I am getting more sleep and relaxation now that my final exams at law school are over! I have seen an improvement in any case, so I think it is fair to say it has some positive effect on dark circles even though they obviously cannot be completely erased by any product.
The serum contains caffeine, antioxidants and soothing botanicals. It is oil-free, non-irritating and ophthamologist tested. I have not encountered any irritation or side effects from it at all and I find it really pleasant and nice to use.
At full price it is quite expensive, costing £20.00 for 15ml. I would consider buying it during a Bonus Time deal as I find it really nice to use and it is effective, but I would also be interested to try some of the cheaper brands' (e.g. Simple) serums to see how they compare, as most serum applied by roller ball would give this cooling and refreshing effect.
At first this seems like a really pricey product, and I could understand if you felt wary about buying it, and it actually working, but it is well worth it. Espcially after a long day at work, if your eyes feel tired and puffy (I also wear contact lenses so I feel like this even more so!) and then if you are heading straight out, a quick roll on of this under the eyes works magic. It is really quick and easy to use and instantly refreshes your eyes. Bags are visibly reduced, but the feeling itself of refreshment, and your skin starting to feel new and light again is enough for me! Brilliant as well if you have been flying, as it is an instant 'perk me up' for tired eyes. Everyone that I know who has used this would reccommend. It also comes in a man's version which looking at the ingredients is slightly different, but not so much that I think you would notice. Other than the colour of the packaging.
My eyes tend to get really puffy especially in summer time so I have tried to find a product to help with this as it can often be a big problem and one that can never really be solved just reduced. When I was shopping online at clinique I noticed they had a serum that claimed to help I decided to purchase it. At £20 for a 15 ml bottle as with a lot of there products I thought this was expensive but there other products had been a hit with me so I thought why not.
The serum comes in a small bottle that has a twist of lid. Once the lid is removed you get the roll on applicator secured to the top of the bottle and it is then ready for application. It is always good to give it a shake before use and then simply roll the product under the eyes to the problem area. Only a small amount of the product is needed and it transferees of the roller very easily. It feels so light and not sticky which is great as it is not adding to the heaviness.
Instantly my eyes feel so much better refreshed and not so puffy. After a minute or two I can see the results my eyes seem to look a little lighter more relaxed and less puffy. This feeling lasts all day for me my eyes feel so much better if on the off chance they start to feel heavy again I just add a little more of the product and it then lasts for hours again. Usually I add a some at night before bed and in the morning when I first wake up and that does the job I want it for very effectively.
There is a little scent to it rather sweet but this disappears as soon as the product drys which is very quick in a round a minute the eyes are dry and ready for make up to be added.
My only downside is it claims to be ok to apply over the top of make up but I find it actually removes my foundation and leaves me with 2 white patches under my eyes where it has been applied so have to retouch up my foundation but for the relief it brings this is worth it.
I would recommend this serum to anyone it actually reduces puffiness which is a first for any product I have tried. It cools refreshes and softens my eyes when they are feeling heavy and puffy. It lightens dark circles not so they disappeared but definitely noticeable difference. It may seem a high price but this has lasted me around 4 months with use at least twice a day and is still going strong and it actually achieves the objectives that it promises.
This is a fantastic product and one of many similar tube roll-on eye creams you can get on the market now. It comes in a 15ml tube that is slightly flexible and a peachy colour with a silver lid and the usual Cllinique branding. It does retail at £20 for the 15ml, but it lasted for about 6 weeks being used morning and night, so perhaps it's quite good value.
All you have to do is roll this product under your eyes and over your eyelids after cleansing. The metal roll on ball probably has a lot to do with the cooling effect of this product, but it does cool my eyes on a morning and seems to reduce my puffiness on a morning and my undereye area seems to be brighter. It contains caffeine, anti-oxidants and botanicals. It contains no oil and truly is non-irritating, if you have seen any of my other reviews you will know I have sensitive skin and this product didn't react at all.
All in all another great product from Clinique.
I am have never before bought an eye cream product, I tend to just use my moisturiser all over my face and make sure I include my eyelid area to give them refreshing. Recently I received a Clinique gift bag with lots of goodies in and one of the included products was this All About Eyes Serum. I was quite intrigued by it and tried it immediety and have been using it regularly ever since.
The tester product I have has a similar colour packaging to the full size one in the picture, being a pearly gold colour with a metallic sheen to it. The tube is flexible and it has a screw on cap to keep the inside applicator safe and clean. What I really like about this product is the roll on application method, it is genius. The roll on ball is silver coloured and very smooth, which rotates when you move it across your skin replenishing itself as it rolls. The ball is brilliant as you don't have to worry (as with a lot of liquid products) about spilling the stuff all over the place or squeezing too much out and having to waste it. You can also control the amount of serum that comes out of the tube, by just gliding it leaving a thin gloss over you eyes or if you put some pressure on a thicker coating can be achieved. One drawback I can potentially see occurring with this application technique is dirt getting attached to the ball and going into the tube, but as long as you keep the lid on this shouldn't occur.
The product is so simply to put on, to apply you simply glide the serum ball over the desired eye area, using gentle pressure, covering both over and under the eye from the inner corner to the outer corner twice in a kind of circular motion. Clinique state that it is best to use in the morning and night and whenever you need refreshment during the day. I usually use this first thing after my morning shower and at bed, I don't think it would do too with my eyeliner during the working day but I don't see how you could under use this product otherwise.
The product is called a de-puffing eye massage and I have to say it is lush to use. The silver ball and clear serum have an instant cooling effect on your eyes which just makes you want to sit back and enjoy the freshness. The serum has a soothing effect on your eyes and eyelids and really does remove puffiness and tired, dirk circles from your face. I really enjoy putting this on of a morning, it just seems to instantly make me feel happier and ready to start the day. After application you can feel the serum every now and then when blinking which gives off more of the freshness, almost like bursts. The product leaves a kind of protective film on your eyes which keeps them feeling fresh and beautiful.
I would guess this product is very similar to their All About Eyes lightweight eye cream, however this being a handy long, thin applicator shape and securely sealed makes it great for carrying around in your handbag and for an extremely quick fix with no mess. I am definitely going to buy the full sized version of this when I have run out, I can see me using this all year round. Each time I apply this I forget refreshing and great it is. I would certainly recommend this to both men and women alike for a daily boost!
This product contains caffeine, potent antioxidants and soothing botanicals. It is oil free (so no greasy looking eyes!), non-irritating and ophthalmologist tested. For all skin types.
The current price of this product in high street Clinique stocking shops and online is £20 for 15ml/0.5oz. My 5ml size is still going strong after daily use for over a month so I would say this is great value for money for the benefits and results this eye serum gives you.
