Clinique is a premium beauty brand offering skincare, makeup and perfume. They offer many foundation and powder options to provide the skin with colour and an even complexion.
Almost Make-Up from Clinique, is a lighter version of a foundation. It claims to provide a sheer, natural finish to the face whilst hiding any imperfections you may have. It contains SPF15, is fragrance and oil free aswell as being allergy tested.
A green plastic tube with a screw on silver lid holds the make-up. Silver and white writing adorns the tube and underneath the lid, a small dispensing hole is present allowing you to squeeze some foundation out.
~~Availability and Price~~
This makeup has been discontinued by Clinique but can be purchased online in a few shades from fair to light, medium and deep. Ebay appears to offer the best choice with 45ml tubes priced at around £29.99.
I don't tend to wear much makeup around my face except on my eyes as I like them all done up. My skin is very dry especially on my forehead and liquid foundations are a no no so I tend to stick to my mineral powder after moisturising my face and a stroke of blush. I can't remember when I got this tube of Almost Makeup but it was likely to be in an ebay lot last year. I have a 45ml size tube of the Light shade. Clinique seem to be discontinuing every product I have of theirs at the moment..typical!
Anyway, I have been using this lately after running low on my powder. The tube is covenient enough for me to be able to comfortably squeeze a small amount onto my finger tips ready for application. The foundation as I call it, is of a medium consistency once dispensed..not too thick nor too fluidy that it runs straight off my finger tip. The light colour suits very pale as I would expect and I intended on wearing this for a natural, slightly tinted look so suited my needs perfectly.
~~Almost But Not Quite There~~
So, freshly cleansed and moisturised face as a blank canvas and I'm ready for my make over. Applying this foundation is extremely easy. On contact with my face, it melts slightly turning rather oily despite Cliniques claims of it being oil free. It is easy to spread and feels a tad damp on my skin which is fueled by a shiny appearance. A slight, cosmetic type scent lingers but isn't obtrussive.
The colour doesn't transfer all that well but appears to even out my skin for a flawless look which I like. It doesn't look like I have plastered on foundation but instead, gives me a healthy, natural sheen like I have been out in the sun for a short while. It covers up the redness and disguises any little blemishes. Within a few moments of applying, the foundation settles to a soft, almost silky feel on my face leaving my skin feeling unclogged and pleasant.
The healthy, tinted look remains put most of the day without going patchy or flaking off. I have worn this out in hot weather and it feels incredibly light against my skin and refuses to react to heat. The addition of the SPF allows me a little more confidence and if I wear this over an SPF moisturiser, the chance of my facing being burnt is also reduced further. I can sweep some blusher over my cheeks easily too adding a flush of colour. At the end of the day, the foundation comes away on a wipe or cotton pad with makeup remover on it.
~~Cleanse Tone Moisturiser!!!~~
Ok so once I made the mistake of applying this over my face when it had simply been washed. This is no good especially if you have dry skin like I do. I found applying this foundation onto unmoisturised skin to be a nightmare. The dryness shows through the foundation and flakes within an hour of applying and looks unsightly. So, the point I am making is..always cleanse, tone and moisturise before applying any powder or foundation as it will last longer.
~~Conclusion and Recommendation~~
This is a basic, lightly tinted foundation that offers a natural look. It does offer my skin softness but doesn't moisturise it which I would expect from a product such as this one. I have loads left in my tube as I use it sparingly and only when I don't feel like having my powder on but still want something on to cover up odds and ends. As this has been discontinued, I won't personally be buying another tube considering how much sellers on ebay are offering them at. Fair enough, you do get more mls compared to a normal foundation but it isn't a wonderful enough product to justify the price.
Thanks for reading :)
I bought this Clinique Almost Makeup SPF 15 lightweight foundation because, like many other women, I really hate most foundations.
I hate the way they sit there on the surface of your skin, screaming MAKE-UP, MAKE-UP LOOK AT ME! And they can be very unforgiving of blemishes, drawing more attention to them than covering them up.
I had used a clinique foundation before which I found pretty good, but it was quite heavy and shimmery - pretty good over all but I wanted something which would feel more comfortable and more suitable for everyday.
I found Almost Makeup! Hallelujah! It really is 'almost makeup'. It feels incredibly lightweight and once on, I don't feel like I am wearing foundation. But I do get the advantages of a more even skin tone and a slightly dewy glow!
It is, according to the tube 'Allergy Tested. 100% Fragrance Free. Oil Free. Natural, sheer coverage for all skin types. Lightweight liquid makeup perfects skin tone. Provides good-for-skin SPF 15 protection. Water-resistant.'
A 45ml tube was £20, so its not incredibly cheap, but a little goes a long way and it seems to me to be fairly well placed price-wise among the higher end brands available on the high street. It comes in a variety of colours. Being pale I went for '02 light'. It has a nice cosmetic-y smell but isn't too overpowering.
I find that I prefer to apply is either with my fingers or with a wedge shaped makeup sponge, although when I bought it in the shop the assistant used her fingers and a foundation brush when she tried it out on me.
The only issue that I might have with it is that being so sheer and light, the redness around my nose can show through a little on a particularly bad skin day, but I find a little dab of concealer sorts this out without much fuss. It really gives me more confidence in my skin, without feeling like I am hiding behind some thick shield of makeup.
I have tried a lot of foundations over the years and seem to be in an eternal quest for the perfect one, but having said that I think this Clinique one comes pretty close.
Presented in the distinctive but boring green packaging, which screams Clinique, this foundation comes in a 45ml tube with a screw off lid. It contains SPF15 and is oil free.
I am very pale and use the lightest shade which is 'fair' and I find it a perfect match for my skin tone. The foundation comes out of the tube in the form of a thick, creamy liquid which is non greasy as well as non sticky.
Until recently I applied all foundations with my fingertips, but since discovering foundation brushes I now use these instead. I start off by applying a small blob to the palm of my hand and then dipping the brush in, before applying in even streaks across my face, which I then blend in with the brush.
Clinique Almost Makeup sticks nicely to the brush and is easily transferred to my skin. I find it blends quickly and effortlessly and gives even coverage which is light but sufficient.
This foundation is so light that it leaves me feeling that I am not wearing a base at all, which is the effect I go for since I favour a translucent, natural look.
The finish is flawless and I am not left with any tidemarks or blotches, instead I have a fresh, even complexion thanks to a product which lasts well and does not need reapplying.
Once applied and set with powder, this lovely foundation stays put anddoes not melt in the heat or go sticky or greasy on my skin. It really is just like having no make-up on!
The downside is that this base costs around £18 a tube, although I have to say it's worth it as it lasts forever. I can't even remember the last time I needed to buy a new tube.
This is definately the foundation to use if you want a natural but not completely nude appearance and a product that is functional and effective.
The Clinique Almost Makeup is the best foundation I have ever used! I don't like heavy sticky makeup, so this was perfect - it felt light, and provided sheer coverage, which was what I needed.
It stays on really well, even in very warm weather or when there are tears, and doesn't clump up.
It serves as a really good, smooth base for applying other makeup on top. It helps the other make-up layers on top stay on well, for a really long time.
The shade I use is perfect for me. However, I have quite a few friends who use this, and we all have different skin tones, and they all say that the shades they buy work really well for them, and very natural-looking.
I would've liked a higher SPF, because I don't like wearing moisturiser which contains sunscreen. So I depend on the foundation, which has sunscreen, for the sun-protection.
Clinique Almost Makeup is a very light foundation with the sheerest coverage. It is suitable for all skin types and is oil-free. It leaves the skin looking fresh and natural.
The box- The box in which the tube comes in has leaf and flower decor in a pale green and peachy colour. On the front it says 'Clinique' and 'Almost Makeup'. We also see that it's SPF 15 and the amount of foundation we get: 45ml. The top of the box says the shade of the foundation, so in my case it says "01 Fair". On the back is a description of the product and a warning. On the side is a list of ingredients.
The tube- The tube is a green plastic with a silver screw-off lid. The front of the tube tells us the brand and what the product is. The back of the tube is the same as the back of the box.
*Using The Product*
It is recommended that you apply Almost Makeup with your fingers, but I find that anything works well, whether it's a brush sponge or fingers- it still goes on silky smooth. I have never had a foundation that is this easy to apply before.
I love this foundation. It is now my favorite. It makes me look flawless and very natural like I'm not wearing makeup. I've read other reviews on this product and people sound quite disappointed about it's lack of coverage. I didn't have this problem. It covered my dark under-eye circles and acne scars perfectly. I like this foundation because it feels so light on my face and it doesn't feel like I'm wearing any makeup at all. The shade I bought matches my skin tone perfectly and a good variety of shades are available so it's suited to anyone. When I wear this I feel like I'm doing my skin good because it protects from the sun and pollution. It's like beauty and protection all in one. When I first applied the foundation it was the first time I looked in the mirror and thought "Wow! You look gorgeous!"
This is a foundation perfect for anyone. I'd say it's on the expensive side at £18.50, but It's worth it. Also, you do get 45ml, which is quite a lot as most brands give 30ml. Almost makeup is great for any occasion and it makes a perfect base for powder blush.
Because I have quite sensitive skin, I always struggle when wearing foundation because it clogs my pores and makes my skin sweat, which then makes my skin irritated and blotchy. I went to my clinique counter, because I get on really well with their face washes, and their representative recommended this "Almost Makeup".
It is like a tinted moisturiser really, although it does not really moisturise awfully well, but that's not a problem for me as I always put a separate moisturiser on. Its very fine and does not block up the pores, and you don't need to use an awful lot because a little goes a long way.
Don't expect it to look exactly like a foundation, the main thing that it does is even out your complexion, so you may not necessarily see that you are wearing it, but that you face looks a more even tone. I would definitely recommend it for people with sensitive skin who need a thin foundation. Mine has got a little watery now when I squeeze it out of the tube, but I have had it a while now (as you don't need much it lasts a long time - so whilst its more expensive it lasts longer than more foundations).
I saw this stuff and decided to give it a try. Well let me tell you this is the best stuff that I have worn yet. I am a natural kinda girl meaning I just dont get into all the super caked up makeup. If you are like me and looking for something thats kind of barely there then this is the product for you. It works great and doesnt clog your pores and covers just enough to cover up the stuff that I want covered up. I loved it so much that I went back to the site and ordered more right away. Its not too terribly expensive and it is well worth the price that you pay for it. I would definetely recommend anybody to try this stuff it is really that great. I wear it every day. I was initially looking for a summer time beach kinda make up but it was so good I decided to use it as my every day foundation.
Clinique Almost Makeup is a tinted moisturizer that can also be worn over a moisturizer as a foundation. In that regard, it's fabulously dewy and translucent for dry or mature skin that needs no coverage or camoflage. If you have very clear skin. want a dewy radiance and just a hint of color to even out skintone, Almost Makeup fits perfectly. Since its consistency is creamy, a little goes a long way and provides surprisingly good coverage it feels slick and slippery when first applied, but give it 5 or 10 minutes to absorb, and it looks superb. If you are seeking coverage, this will not work for you unless you like wearing alot of concealer. The fact that it contains an spf15 is an added bonus and means that you only have to wear one product instead of two! I highly recommend this product to those with dry to combination skin who want to eliminate redness and leave a light and dewy finish without causing breakouts or excess oiliness.
I bought this last summer to use when I was on my holiday as there is nothing worse when you have thick pore clogging make up in the heat, it kind of melts and makes your skin look greasy and spotty.
I thought I would try this particular one because usually I wear Clinique Superfit foundation which I love in the winter months as it gives good coeverage but is lightweight and lasts all day.
This foundation cost me around £17.00 which is a lot for a foundation but you know tour getting a good quality product which is oil and fragrance free and perfect for sensitive skin, or if you have spotty skin like mine as you dont want to clog your pores.
It comes in a tube with screw lid and its more of a tinted mosituriser than a foundation. You must apply it with clean hands and after cleansing and simply apply a dot to forehaead cheeks, nose and chin and rub in using fingers or a sponge applicator. The foundation doesnt cover spots too well as its lightweight but does give a lovely finish and looks lightweight and natural and perfect in the summer when you have a slight tan. Overall I would recommend this to anyone who would like a lightweight foundation which doesnt irrittate skin and makes skin better when used regularly compared to a normal foundation. There are 6 shades varying from dark to light and its best to ask the clinique lady which one is best for you as she will check it on your jawline and get the rigth sahde fro you.
