Another fabulous product by another fabulous supplier. I've always passed the Clinique counter in my local Debenhams store to have a browse and always thought they were at a high price and did ask questions and the assistants have always been very helpful, kind, polite and great customer service, now I know why because they are such great products. I did however buy this product on Ebay to try and cut costs a little bit and again a product I will always love. I have since bought many of these just to keep in case it ever discontinues because I love it so much. I've had many compliments when wearing this blush as it makes my cheeks looking glowing and healthy and I wear this everyday using minimal of the product. I would mostly defiantly pay full price for this item and would recommend anyone to buy this product if they are a fan of the pink cheek bone.
In my opinion blusher is one of the most important items of makeup as it really brightens up my face, makes me look healthier, more alive and rosy. I am quite pale so I need a nice blusher to stop me looking washed out.
I bought this Clinique Blushing Blush compact in shade 120 "bashful blush" 5 or 6 months ago.
=== Packaging ===
The blusher comes in a flat rectangular compact with a silver lid bearing the name Clinique in small block capitals. There is a mirror inside the lid, which I find a nice and handy extra. The bottom is clear plastic enabling you to see the colour of the blusher. You get 6g of blusher and a small brush is provided. The compact casing is very sturdy and has withheld daily usage and carrying in my makeup bag, the odd bash and being dropped on the floor. The powder has remained solid with no cracks, and the case is still completely intact. The only slight packaging issue is that the silver lid has become a bit scratched and worn away at the edges, making it look a little scruffy. However, considering I use it every day, I think a little bit of wear and tear is to be expected.
Inside, the blusher only takes up half the compact and I would prefer if the blusher area was slightly larger. Personally I don't use the provided brush as it is the flat, slanted kind which can sometimes lead to your blusher looking a bit like "racing stripes" on your cheeks if you aren't careful! I have a better more rounded blusher brush which I prefer (Body Shop one), so the brush area is just wasted space for me. However, it is quite handy to have the brush included for use on the go on the rare occasions I don't have my own brush, so I can't really criticise its inclusion.
=== Application and wear ===
This is a powder blush so application is very simple and self explanatory - it should be applied with a brush. As already mentioned, I don't think the provided brush is ideal, but it does the job if you don't have your own blusher brush. I apply this on the apples of my cheeks and sweep it upwards to give a rosy and natural glow.
My shade, bashful blush, is a really lovely, natural pink. It is not too sugary or bold that it looks fake but neither is it too subtle that you can barely notice it and wonder why you bothered! You don't need to use a lot of it as it is quite well pigmented. My shade is matte with no shimmer, meaning it looks more natural. I sometimes combine it with another blusher which has a slight shimmer and other times I wear it on its own. I have fair skin and dark hair as you can see in my profile photo and the shade Bashful Blush is ideal for someone with my colouring. There are 8 shades to choose from at Boots including pinks and peachy shades. A lady at the Clinique counter recommended this shade to me and I find they are usually very helpful and happy to suggest colours if you are not sure.
Now for one of the best things about this blusher - the colour stays on and stays true all day. With some blushers I find they have completely disappeared when I look in the mirror in the afternoon but with this I never need to top it up, as it stays on.
Although 6g does not sound like a huge amount of product, I find that this compact lasts for ages. I have been using it every day for over 5 months and there is a lot left. I haven't hit pan at all. I have another blusher (8.5g) which I like from another brand and I find that I hit pan in the middle after only 2 or 3 months, so the Clinique one compares well.
This blusher is available for £20 from Boots. I think this is good value considering it is a daily essential for me.
Over the last couple of years I have become a big fan of Clinique and have used a variety of their products from skincare to make up and although I don't find all of their products to be exactly what my skin needs as a whole I still use many of their items on a daily basis. One of their items I use on an almost daily basis is their blusher, which I only don't use if I apply the Clinique Bronzer instead!
~~What is it?~~
Clinique is a brand that has been round for quite a few years now, though originally being famous for it's skin care items, it is now a well established brand that also sells the likes of Make up, fragrances and sun protection, etc.
The Blushing Blush Powder Blush is effectivley their blusher and is one of their most popular ones. It comes complete with a small little brush. There is a range of eight different shades, from darker plums, slightly orangey/ burnt reds to coral pinks, so I am sure that the range is wide enough to suit many people and is range that is much wider than other brands.
~~What Clinique say/ the claim~~
'Defining moment for cheeks. Silky formula sweeps effortlessly over cheekbones to create a natural look. Fresh, jet-milled colour builds to desired intensity with custom-sculpting brush. Long-wearing. Stays colour-true. Oil-free.'
~~Price and Avaliability~~
This product is by no means a 'cheap' blusher and costs £20.00 for 6 grams. As far as I am aware this is the only size it is purchasable in, though they do often offer a free gift, or sometimes when you buy a magazine there is a free Clinique item where you can recieve this blusher in a 2 gram variety.
This item is avalible at the Clinique online store; Clinique.co.uk, also the likes of Boots and some larger department stores such as House of Fraser and Debenhams.
The product comes in a rectangular/square container with a clear, plastic flip top lid, which in silver writing is clearly labelled Clinique. The blusher takes up about half the space, whilst the brush taked up the other half. The plastic is very robust and strong and despite is being dropped on the floor and knocking around my make up bag, it has remained in tact and as of yet the blusher has not cracked / crumbled.
~~Using/ Applying the blusher~~
As previously mentioned, this blusher comes with its own minature brush, however, I prefer to use my own. This is not because I think that it achieves a better look, I just simply cannot get to grips with this brush and although its small size is good for travelling, I don't think the quality of Clinique is quite represented in it.
With the brush it came with
The brush it comes with is fairly small in size, hence it being able to fit alongside the blusher. It has a clear handle and brown bristles, the bristles take up around 1/3 of the brush, which I think is why I find this brush difficult to use as you do not have much of a handle to hold onto.
To apply the blusher I swirled this brush over the blusher in order to pick up the blusher, which it did do very well, not collecting too much, neither too little. I then began to evenly apply this to my cheek bones. The blusher itself felt very light and soft, almost silky as it was being applied, however, despite the bristles on thr bush looking soft when I was applying it to my cheek they felt coarse and ever so slightly scratchy. It was not uncomfortable and didn't bother me too much, it was just that I was used to my much softer brush.
I also found the brush difficult to hold due it being small in size, I felt like I had to grip it in order to kee hold of it, rather than holding is loose, as I would have normally done it order to get a lighter effect. The blusher looked great once applied and although this brush did do the job, I wasn't really happy with the quality of it. Although the small brush does make this perfect for travelling and I can see the idea behind it, as an everyday brush I find it too small and the bristles are a little too coarse for my liking.
With my own brush
When it came to using my own brush, I applied the blusher in the same way, swirling my brush in order to collect the blusher. I found that my brush was also able to picks up just the right amount - the bristles on my brush are black, so I was able to see what the brush had picked up better and must say, it did seem to look like a lot, though when I began to apply it seemed like the perfect amount.
When using this brush, I could still feel the same texture of the blusher; soft, smooth and ever so slightly silky. It seemed to naturally blend across my cheeks in order to give me a natural glow, without any real need for blending. My blusher brush did seem considerably softer in comparison with the one it came with and in such the blusher felt smoother to apply.
The blusher itself was very light on the skin when applying, yet was still able to give my cheeks the pigmentation I was after. It did have a powdery texture to it when applying, though this was to be expected, but I was glad to see there was no fall out and the blusher kept to the area I was applying it to.
~~Results/ What did the blusher look like?~~
I was very impressed with the blusher on my skin. I have fairly pale skin, yet I like to have rosy cheek complexion, not obvious like a russian doll, but a real flash of colour, so the one I opted for was 'Smoldering Plum'. This colour was able to suit my skin tone fantastically and was really able to make my cheek bones stand out, whilst at the same time it was still able to look fairly natural.
The colour that I chose was a really rich pink colour and once applied I noticed that it had some ever so subtle glitter / light reflecting particles in it. At the time, I wasn't too sure whether I would like this, however, it is now one of my favourite features of this blusher. It adds yet more depth to the cheeks and the colour of the blusher and when these particles get hit by the sun outside, although they do not sparkle as such, they really bring attention to your cheeks and definitley make them more defined.
The colour lasted on my cheeks all day and managed to look natural all day, as I sometimes find that over the course of the day the colour of blushes can sometimes change, or become too obvious as other make u is worn away, however this stayed looking almost perfect all day. I loved the fact that it blended into my skin to well, yet also managed to sit on top of my skin, without looking heavy, which is what gave the blusher the natural look.
I was really impressed with this blusher, admittedly I did not get along with the brush, but the quality of the blusher completley makes up for this. It was ever so light and smooth on the skin and the fact that it is an oil-free blusher meant that it the blusher looked matte and kept the natural look all day.
I defenitley believed this product lived up to Clinique's claims, as although I do find most of their products good, I rarely ever find one that lives up to almost all of their claims. I think had the brush been of better quality then this item would have been prefect, though, as I said the brush doesn't bother me too much and I still do find it handy for travelling.
It was really able to define my cheek bones and add depth to them, whilst still looking natural; which is often something I struggle to find in a blusher. I have also tried some of the other colours from this blush selection and have been equally impressed by their quality, though the 'Smoldering Plum' colour is definitley the one for me.
I think this product would be suited to almost all skin types, due to it being non-oil based and a matte poweder blush it means it would suit oily skin, yet at the same time I think it is equally suited to dry skin due to the fact it is a very light powder and is not going to sit heavy or dry out the skin.
~~How long will it last? Is it good value for money?~~
This product, despite the fact it is used almost everday seems to last for ages! The 20 grams tends to last me at least a year, which is a really long time for a piece of make up in my drawer! I know that most make up should be thrown out after 6 months, however due to this being a powder based formula and being used nowhere near the eyes I can really see no harm in using it past this date and it means you definitley get your moneys worth.
Due to it lasting me this period of time, depsite the £20.00 price tag, I think this does make it good valur for money and the period of time it lasts and the quality of the item somehow justifies the initial cost.
-Lovely colours, wide range means suitable for almost everyone
-Fairly widely avaliable
-It comes with a brush, which some people may find handy for travelling
-Colour defines cheeks, whilst still looking natural
-Easy to apply, blends perfectly
-Strong casing, helps to prevent the blusher from cracking/ crumbling
-I found the brush too small to use (bristles were also a little too coarse)
-The price is a little hefty
~~Overall/ Would I reccomend~~
Overall, I really do love this product. Yes, the brush isn't quite up to Clinique quality, however, most blushers don't come alongside a brush, so I just see this as a little added extra. The fact that it is light on the skin, blends almost perfectly and stays in place all day means I will definitley be recommending this product! I know the price may be a little off putting, though I think the quality is definitley refelcted in this and it is really worth it!
I am giving this product the full five stars based on the quality and results of the blusher itself, rather than including the brush within this rating as I think I would have knocked off 0.5 of a star for the brush not being quite up to the quality I would have liked.
At £19 this blush isn't cheap, but I'd 100% recommend it to everyone.
It comes in a wide range of colours and is very fine milled so it apllies wonderfully to the skin. The pigmentation is good so you don't need to spend ages layering it up, and it lasts all day.
Because of this, the compact lasts absolutely ages. I've had my current compact for 2 years, using it daily, and it hasn't run out yet.
Unlike a lot of products which come with brushes included, the blusher blush in this product is really good quality. The fibres are soft and the angled shape means you can apply the blush precisely to a small area, or in a wide sweep to cover a larger area.
My favourite colour is no. 101 "aglow", a peach with a soft gold shimmer. It adds dimension and colour to your skin without being too dark, so is perfect for a sun-kissed look on paler skin where normal bronzer can look muddy.
Yes it's pretty expensive, but for the quality and how long the product lasts it's really worth it. Also all Clinique products are fragrance-free and hypo-allergenic, so it's suitable for even the most sensitive skin.
The Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush is a blusher that I bought when I wanted to treat myself before my wedding. It is available in all larger departmental stores, larger Boots, and online. I purchased mine at the Clinique concession in the Trafford Centre Boots.
The blush isn't cheap, £21, when usually I'd spend less than a tenner. But I do believe it's worth it, as my review hopefully will reflect, and it's not a small block either. You also have to factor in the decent blusher brush you get, a bushy angled applicator which when used in different ways can achieve different effects.
The colour I went for is 'Aglow' which describes exactly the look I was going for - natural beauty not caked on makeup (as I knew I'd be looking back at my wedding photos in years to come, regretting anything other than a timeless look). If you go to a Clinique concession you have the added bonus of getting advice from a trained make up assistant, too.
So, to apply the blush all you need to do is use your regular base (I use a tinted moisturiser and mineral powder) then sweep the brush over the powder block and then apply. You can use this on the cheekbones for a high fashion, slimming look, or on the apples for a rosy glow, which is what I did and still do.
The powder is lovely and rich with plenty of pigment. With some cheaper powders you can get a slightly cheap looking sparkly effect or need to use lots of it - or worse still you can get uneven pigment resulting in a patchy look. With the Clinique Blushing Blush you are assured of a smooth, silky, sparkle free, easy to apply matte colour which looks even and fresh. The brush is of a high quality and it is easy to use, too. (The compact has a mirror so you can apply on the go!). It exudes high quality and it has great handbag appeal too.
On the big day, I got some great compliments on my make up and I'm so glad I spent the money on the blush as everyone said I looked glowing - well, that's thanks to Clinique 'Aglow'! The blush has lasted me ages (the brush can be washed in a thin mild shampoo solution) and now I have a new baby, the sleepless nights and pallid skin can be brushed away with a lovely rosy glow - it keeps me looking alive!
I absolutely recommend Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush whatever shade you go for - especially if you get some advice on which colour to go for. It's a real make-up bag investment and not one you will regret. I love it, it's one of my favourite Clinique products.
Once again, this is another piece of Clinique make up which has been passed down to me thanks to my mother. Being a student, I am unable to afford this kind of luxury so it is excellent when I get my hands on it. She had brought this Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush (bit of a mouthful) but gave it to me as she did not use it that often.
The shade it is in is 'Bashful Blush' which is a very baby pink and looks great on my skin as it is a little pale. It helps to bring colour to my face, and when it is applied it does compliment my cheeks wonderfully, but in a natural way. This blush is available in a wide range of pink shades, peaches and mauves, so I am almost certain there is something for everyone!
I have to start of by saying that I am not a big blusher person. I think it looks lovely, but I often find it an absolute nightmare to apply and get both sides even, and I somehow always manage to make myself look like a clown which isn't great. This means I avoid wearing blusher on a daily basis, and instead tend to stick to wearing it for special occasions only, or nights out. However, this blusher has completley converted me, and I have found myself wearing it on a more regular basis.
The packaging of the blusher itself is very modern and sleek, which is expected from a high quality, premium brand such as Clinique. It is very sturdy and unlikely to break if it is rolling around in your bag. As well as the six grams of blush which it comes with, you get a little mirror which is in all honesty too small to do anything with, but great in emergencies if you need a touch up and have no other mirror on hand. It also contains an applicator brush. Now, I am not used to using high quality brands such as Clinique on a regularly basis, therefore with most other cheaper brands I tend to just throw out the applicator brush without even trying it, because let's be fair, they are usually awful, cheaply made brushes which do not do any justice for the product. However, the small blusher brush that is included with this turned out to be actually quite excellent. The bristles on it are so soft, and pick up the blusher wonderfully, and it just feels such good quality, and not like the horrible brushes you usually get which scratch across your face. Because it fits perfectly into the little blusher compact, it does mean that if you are going out for the day or night, it is good enough quality to rely on this brush to apply the blusher, however if I was at home, I prefer to use one with a larger handle, just because this helps me to apply it much better. So overall, shockingly I was very surprised with this.
On to the most important part, the blusher itself. When my mom gave me this, I was immediately thrilled, as the gorgeous baby pink colour was right up my street. I was a little dubious at first, as I am never good at applying blusher, but I thought I would give it a go. I apply a small amount of the blusher across my cheekbones, and then I gradually build it up and up. When it is applied to your face, you can instantly tell the high quality of it, as it does not just look caked on like many cheaper blushes do tend to. One of my favourite things about it is that it is not completely matte, but it is also not really super shimmery and sparkly. It is the right combination of the two, meaning that it gives you a healthy, natural glow and helps to enhance your cheekbones. Due to this, I find that the shade is perfect for day time wear, however could easily be built up for a glamorous look also. Overall, I did find that it was very easy to apply on to the skin, and it sits there perfectly. One problem I often face when trying to apply blusher is that as you are blending it in, it drops down your face and on to your cheeks, resulting in glittery cheeks. This problem was not faced at all when applying the Clinique powder blush, and it managed to sit perfectly in place throughout the whole day without needing a reapplication. This is very rare to find with many blushes, including other ones I own from brands such as Benefit. It is designed to be very long lasting, and I can really vouch for this. I could confidently wear it throughout the day knowing that it had stayed as perfectly in place as it was in the morning. Another benefit of this blush is that it does not leave harsh lines across your cheekbones, as this can make your blusher look very un-natural and quite trashy. You do not need to use a great deal of this to get fabulous results, and considering I use this fairly regularly now, I have still got heaps of the product left, showing that it might well be worth splashing out on.
But just how much does it cost? Obviously, when it comes to premium brands such as Clinique, you know you are going to have to pay that little bit more, because not only are you paying for the brand name, you are also paying for the high quality product. I was fortunate enough to receive this for free, however if you want to pick one up from Clinique or any of its stockists such as Boots, you are looking at spending £19.00. This seems like a ridiculous price, and I do not think I would originally have brought this product if I knew it was this much. However, I can really assure you that it is worth every penny. It will deliver all the results in which you hope for, as well as last you a good few months. I have tried and tried many blushers priced around £5.00 in the hope that they may deliver everything I want, however there is always something missing with each one. When it comes to make up, it does show that the price in which you pay does reflect in the quality of product you receive.
Overall, I feel that the Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush deserves a well earned five star rating, as it is the best blusher I have ever come across. A make up essential which every woman deserves to have in her handbag. Definitely worth taking a look at if you are after an excellent blusher. Thanks for reading and I hope this has helped.

I was never much of a blusher fan. Having seen too many over-tanned, over-blushed women (oddly enough, frequently the ones who work on department store make-upcounters) I decided that was not a look I wanted to go for. One year though I was bought a make-up set from Debenhams which had eyeshadow lip gloss and blusher... I had a nice big blusher brush laying around unused so I figured I'd give it a go. Then I was hooked - and when it ran out I looked to my old friend Clinique for a replacement!
As I have come to expect with Clinique, the powder was light and easy to apply. It glided on effortlessly. The problem was, having spent a good half hour sampling the vaious available colours and coming away with the least offensive one, it was still too garish!
Major disappointment! Using the angled brush and mirror within the compact (particularly handy for on-the-go application), as directed, I ended up with a great long orangey-red streak across my face. I can only fear for the people who would use it generously - I am not one to overload a brush!! I tried using my own large fluffy brush, thinking perhaps the angled brush coming with the blusher was a bit harsh and maybe that was the cause of the hard tangoed line? Nope, no success there. Still incredibly harsh!
My concern is that I spent such a long time figuring out which of the colours would be least harsh, that I feel there is no where left to go!
As a plus point, if you find a colour that suits you, this is a blusher that doesn't budge. It stays with you all day and has just a very slight shimmer so can easily be used by day or by night.
So does it live up to Clinique's claims?
"Silky formula sweeps effortlessly over cheekbones to create a natural look".
- Skily formula; yes. Sweeping effortlessly; yes. Natural look? Not unless you're the colour of David Dickinson!
"Fresh, jet-milled colour builds to desired intensity with custom-sculpting brush".
- Good grief! Who would build up colour intensity?!
- (scuplting brush however was pretty good for a pcoket sized brush!)
"Long-wearing. Stays colour-true. Oil-free."
- Long wearing; yes. Colour-true; stays as intense as ever, so; yes. Oil-free; seems to be!
Personally; For £19 I am thinking it might be good value for money in as much as it will last me just about forever as I have to use it so sparingly. The powder is up to clinique's usual standard, feeling good and light and nice on your skin, if only they would do it in some more subtle colours! Choose your colour carefully!
I have been searching for the perfect blusher for years. Despite having quite a natural (red!) blush, I like to wear it to give my cheeks definition and disguise the fat hamster cheek look. I've always been told by make-up consultants that for my skin tone, I need a pale peach blusher for a subtle glow; however, though I've tried to stick to this, I noticed on photos that it looks no different to the rest of the face - pastey!
When I bought some Clinique products recently I got a free make up bag filled with goodies, including a Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush in 07 Sunset Glow. If you have a look on the website you will see how dark this shade is, it's almost like a red colour. Completely not what I would ever pick myself, given the advice and consultations I'd previously had over the years. However, during a girly night of trying out different looks, I had a go with the Blusher.
I was incredibly surprised. Usually it comes in a silver compact with an angled blusher brush at 6g, however as mine was in the gift bag it was only 1.8g, and in a solo eye shadow style compact (no brush, though I do have a full sized angled blusher brush by Clinique). I swirled my blusher brush on to the compact, noticing the light reflecting silky formula winking in the lights as I went. I applied a really small amount; a lot goes a long way, which means this product will last you a while. When I applied it to the undersides of my smile lines it was literally like I was sculpting myself a set of cheek bones! I couldn't believe how great it went on.
Most importantly, it looked natural, I didn't want Aunt Sally cheeks! It's oil free and long wearing, which is important to me, as first up I can't wear any make-up which isn't oil free and suitable for sensitive skin or I get a dirty make-up rash of spots and pimples and secondly because I apply make-up on a morning and don't carry it with me for top ups as I can't be bothered, so I need durable and long wearing products or they just wear off and I look worse than before I put make up on!
There are 8 different shades, ranging from really pale peach (Innocent Peach) and a pale pink (Bashful Blush) to a plum, violet and a bright pink. It can be purchased online from the Clinique site, from Boots Online and Department Stores or certain branches of Boots on the High Street. If you pop in to a Clinique counter you'll be able to get a consultation on which shade suites you, or have a play before you buy!
At £18.50 the product is not cheap. However, I've had my tiny 1.8g compact for around 8 months and I've hardly made an indent in it, so a 6g compact would last at least a year and there's a 24m shelf life. You can use as little or as much as you want, starting off with a little and building up the colour. I really don't think you could go wrong with this, and I like make-up that's easy to use where you don't need to be a make-up artist to apply it properly. It also looks really great as a highlighter across the décolleté and you can mix it with a little bit of crème like Nivea Soft or a touch of Vaseline to make a crème blush. It's quite versatile.
Overall owing to the durability, ease of application, versatility, value for money and gorgeous packaging - plus the specialised mini brush, I would have absolutely no qualms with recommending this to my friends and family. And, if my recommendation isn't enough, this product won The Sunday Times Beauty Awards in 2010 for Best Blusher.
Before this product i was not a blusher person, at all i just used to see girls with ridiculous amounts of blusher on and thought it looked awful. So I started using bronzer on my cheeks which honestly didnt suit me at all.
It was'nt until saw my friend putting on this particular blusher in the shade bashful blush that it completely changed my opinion. Obivously if you put blusher on in moderation it looks good. But this one just looked so natural it gave her sort of rosy glow and didnt look at all like it was put on. The natural look is always the best look and i thought i need to get my hands on this blusher.
The price was abit steep at £18.50 but i have had the same blusher for around 9 months and theres still alot left so its definetely value for money andd like most things it can also be found online - amazon cheaper.
The blusher also come in a handy little mirrored case wth a bruush its so compact and I love how the front of the clase is mirrored aswell as inside it, its definetely perfect for nights out when you need mirror access quickly and a quick application of blush, such a must have and what changed my overall blusher opinion.
This is by far one of the best blushers I have ever owned.
The blush comes in a wide variety of shades, but the one I purchased looked more orange in colour, but I used it like a bit of a bronzer for the summer months, and essentially kept using it throughout the year.
The compact is a rectangular shape about 8cm long. The bottom of the compact is divided into 2 sections, half of which is a small brush, which is very easy to use, and is one of the softest brushes I have ever come across, it feels really nice when you apply it, the other half is the actual blush. It is a hard powder blush, and you can apply it with your finger, but I found the brush a lot better. The blush goes onto skin very easily, and the shade I had looked very natural and didn't go on very bright. Which I personally really liked as I could add more to make it a bit darker, but didn't have to worry about looking like Aunt Sally with one application. The lid of the compact is a mirror, which is very handy. I would say the compact would easily fit in most handbags and is an essential item.
The cost of this is expensive at £18.50, but I think mine lasted a good 6 months of using it every day, and it was one of the best I have ever used, so I personally think it's well worth the investment.
The only downside to this product that I found was that when I got near the end it did crumble into pieces, so it got hard to use, but it never fell out as the compact lid shuts very securely.
I would really recommend this product.
I was looking for a new blusher and being rather impressed with Clinque's products in the past I thought I'd try their's.
This blusher is a great little compact with a silver lift-up lid with the name 'Clinique' embossed to the left-hand side. The back of the case is clear which is usefull because you can see how much of the product you have left. On the back their is the shade (114 Iced Lotus in my case). All other information is on the little green paperboard box that the blusher comes in. I like the fact that it comes in a box because it won't get damaged in your shopping bag. When you open the blush compact, you will see a handy mirror on the top half. It's great for women on-the-go. There is also a small travel sized brush included that works as well as (or if not, better than,) any other full sized brush I've tried (and that even includes my Body Shop Blush Brush which is pretty good).
*Using The Product*
I find that this blusher works best when used with the brush that's included. The brush is a shape that will help apply the blusher so it that it looks perfect. The blush is very easily blended onto the rest of your face. It's not streaky at all. It's not too powdery or too firm.. it's just the right consistency for spreading. The blusher feels nice to apply.
I have a lovely glow to my face after using this. It's perfect for any occasion. For the day it gives you a nice natural-rosy-cheek look but for night-time you can play it up a bit more to help give the appearance of higher cheekbones and a heavier cheek colour.
I would recommend this blusher to anyone. However, it's a little pricey at around £18.00, but I do think it's worth spending that little bit extra for makeup that's going directly onto the face. Also, little goes a long way- I've had mine for about one month now and looking at it, you can't even tell that I've used it. You get 6g of the product and in most blushers you get between 3 and 5. The only problem I would say is that if you are buying online, be aware that the colours look a lot different on the swatches to what they really do. I bought the shade 'Iced Lotus' which looks very purple on the Clinique website, but I asked for a pink shade in-store and the lady at the counter said she'd recommend this shade, and it is more pink than purple. It's always best to buy your Clinique products in-store because a lot of their shades looks different online. None of the shades are matte- they all have a slight shimmer to them. I've always preffered a matte blush but this still looks amazing. This blusher can be bought at most well-known LARGE drugstores (such as Boots, Superdrug etc) and also some department stores (such as Westgate, House of Fraser and Harvey Nics).
Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush was a gift from my parents for my birthday last year. Yes, I agree with all of you reading this, I do have great parents that always seem to hit the nail on the head when it comes to buying gifts for me. They know that I'm a huge fan of blusher as I don't have any sort of cheekbones to speak of. A blusher seems to define my cheeks a little at least.
*About the Product*
Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush claims to be a silky formula that sweeps effortlessly over cheekbones to create a natural look. It's fresh, jet-milled colours builds and blends beautifully to desired intensity.
Additionally, Clinique state that it is long-lasting, colour-true and oil-free.
Applying this blusher is very simple. This is thanks to the small brush that comes with the blusher in the small compact. All you need to do is sweep a small amount using the sculpting brush. Clinique suggest you allow the brush to hug your cheekbones as you custom-build colour and define cheek contours. If you follow these directions, you'll have cheeks to die for.
*Price and Availability*
Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush isn't that widely available to buy. You won't find it in your average Superdrug but you can find it in department stores like Debenhams, John Lewis and House of Fraser as well as the larger Boots stores. Alternatively, you can buy it online from www.clinique.co.uk.
This blusher will set you back a fairly steep £18 and this is a large amount of money when you consider the prices of alternatives that are available on the market. But hear me out before you decide not to consider this with others. Clinique's 6g of blusher lasts a very long time and when I say this I mean it lasts well up to a year. In addition to this, it gives you beautifully defined cheekbones even if you don't have them. Can you really put a price on that?
The packaging: The packaging of this product is fabulous. It is simple yet classy and generic to all Clinique products. The bottom of the case is transparent and you can see clearly the colour of the blusher. The top of the compact is a reflective silver with Clinique written on one side of this.
When it comes to opening up the case, you will see that it is split into two sections. The space at the bottom is for the brush that you get with this and the top is when 6g of blusher sits. This makes it great for travel as well as the fact that you have a fair sized mirror on the other side of the lid which allows you to apply the blusher on the go. Suits me fine.
The brush: The brush is angled in order to contour and sculpt. I found this a joy to use as it is an excellent brush considering it is one that you get with the compact. The bristles are firm enough to allow you to apply the blusher well whilst at the same time being soft. I even use this now if I decide I want to use another blusher.
Texture and colour: The texture of this blusher is very smooth, yet rich and glides easily onto your skin. As for the colour, the Iced Lotus colour that I own is a fairly bright pink, but without looking cheap and ridiculous. I tend to find that I only need a single sweep on the blusher on each cheek but if you feel the need to build up the intensity of the colour, simply sweep over the cheek again until you have reached the desired look.
Range of colours: Considering this is a blusher, the range of colours available in this blusher is fantastic. There are ten rich, long wearing colours that range from a light pink to a deeper red, nudes to an almost violet shade. The colour that I own is called Iced Lotus and is a gorgeous, rich pink. It has the slightest (and I mean ever so slight) hint of a shimmer which makes this wearable in the day and at night.
Longevity of the product: This blusher is very enduring. I have had mine well over a year now and it still has a bit left. What more can I say than that it is great value for money when you consider how much usage you get out of it.
Staying power: This blusher lasts all day. Seriously, I never thought I would find a product that has such good staying power but I have in Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush. It is an extremely rare occasion, if ever that I have to reapply this blusher. I'm guessing this is down to the rich texture which allows me to forget about my make up for the rest of the day.
Does its silky formula sweep effortlessly over cheekbones to create a natural look? Yes, it definitely does. The brush makes the application easy and the natural look is created perfectly.
Do the fresh, jet-milled colours build and blend beautifully to desired intensity? They most certainly do. I tend to start with one sweep of the blusher but for a more intense look, you just need to continue the application of the blusher. The effect it has is fantastic.
I believe that the fact that the blusher is oil-free helps my skin significantly from gaining spots. In the past I have used blushers that have caused me to break out in spots. Since using this, I haven't endured these problems, which as far as I am concerned is yet another thing I have to thank Clinique for.
*Would I Recommend The Product?*
There isn't a doubt in my mind that I would recommend this product to everyone and anyone. Clinique have definitely got this product 100% right. It is without doubt the best of its type and lasts for what seems like an eternity, not that you'll see me complaining about that. I love getting value for money. This blusher is superb if you are looking for something that that will give definition to your cheeks so head to your nearest department store and don't hesitate to buy.
Clinique Blushing Blush Powder Blush is undoubtedly the best blusher that I have used. It does have a large price tag but I believe this is warranted in the quality and longevity of the product. And the fact that it is a stylish compact makes me proud to use it anytime in public.
I bought this after a session with the Clinque make-up assistance when shopping for my wedding make-up.
As with the other Clinque products, all the make up are in cardboard boxes. The packaging surrounding the blusher itself is beautiful and very different to the other high street available brands. I just love the mirrored cover and the clear plastic holding the blush and the brush. It's very stylish and when you take it out of your handbag, it really doesn't shout high street brand.
One thing I noticed about this blush is that it doesn't crumble away like many of the cheaper brands. It has stayed in its container without making a mess all over the mirror and on the handles of the brush. The brush itself is bog-standard and it does its job.
This product blends beautifully into the skin, giving the cheek bones a great highlight (and I can assure you, you wont look like a clown or a drag!). The light shimmer of the powder adds to the highlight. You also don't need to put that much on to achieve a great effect.
As for its lasting effect - I had the blusher on from 12pm on my wedding day and when I checked in the mirror at 8pm on the same day, it was still there (even with the endless kissing on the cheeks from the relatives!).
All in all, another hit from Clinque! A great product which lasts for hours and provides the desired effect of wonderful cheekbones, especially for a blushing bride!
I am quite a fan of blushers and bronzers, and as a general rule, they tend to be among the more expensive items in my make up bag.
I came across Clinique Blushing Blush Powder whilst on a trip to Boots (I'd already make up my mind that I was going to spend far over the odds on some sort of make up product as a treat).
After trying a few shades, I decided that 'Iced Lotus' (114) was right for my skin.
The compact itself comes in a small cardboard box with the Clinique logo on it. On opening the box you find a very simple yet stylish compact made of clear plastic. The lid is almost mirrored & has Clinique written on the left hand side.
As you can see from the picture for this product, the blush powder itself takes up around half of the space inside, with the other half accommodating a soft blushing brush. The entire inside lid of the compact contains a mirror (I find it a very useful sized mirror for my handbag). The mirror allows you to see pretty much all of your face, which is great if you are applying blusher on the go. No girl needs some sort of blush-tribal-stripe arrangement going on!
This blusher currently comes in 8 shades (that I know of), varying from pale tan/peach, all the way to rich dark pinks/browns.
The specific shade that I'm reviewing (Iced Lotus) is a lovely warm pink, which is suitable for a wide range of skin tones.
The powder itself is silky smooth and goes on beautifully. Considering the brush is a compact one, I find it is actually quite a reliable and good quality little brush. The bristles are soft, but also have enough strength to give you a reliable dusting where YOU put it; not where it decides to end up! I certainly don't feel the need to take a full-size blush brush around with me when out and about.
The powder also has a very delicate dusting of sparkle - no, not in an 80's school disco way! More in the sense that it is an extremely subtle way of catching the light. It really is very pretty and helps to emphasize the cheek bones without needing a large amount.
Being oil free, it also helps avoid nasties like spots. I have quite sensitive skin at times, and as with all Clinique products I've used, there were certainly no problems with this one either.
I have had this blush for quite a while now, and although it is definitely on the more expensive side (currently on Boots website for £17.63/6g compact), I feel that I need to use less for the desired effect.
It also has excellent staying power, as I rarely need to re-apply of a day. Even when the majority of the product does eventually wear off, you can still see a pale blush to the skin.
Although many will not see just cause for spending nearly £20 on a blusher, I do believe it is worth the money.
I appreciate knowing that it does not irritate my skin, that it lasts, and most importantly, that I have found a colour that suits me.
Needless to say you can get cheaper blushes that are by no means bad, but if you are in the mood for indulgence, a Clinique blusher is a worthwhile investment :-)
I have written a few reviews for Clinique products now and I think i say the same things in all of them - i think i should be working for Clinique, promoting their products, hehe.
I just wanted to give my view on their blusher. I am using Pink Love at the moment. I like this shade, as it is a pale pink, which isnt too noticeable when you are wearing it. It birghtens your face up, giving you a lovely glow. It has little bits of glitter in the blusher too.
Clinique products always come in such lovely packaging. It is a lovely compact with a mirror and brush inside. The front of the compact is a mirror too. Great for when you are out and about. The brush is great too. Although i only use this when i am out, otherwise i like to use my big blusher brush.
I cant tell you how lovely this product is. It gives your face a lovely glow, but in a natural way. It doesnt look like you have plastered a load on!!! This compact goes such a long way. I got mine in Oct 2007 and ive only used half, if that and we are in July 2008 now. So, although it is expensive, it goes such a long way. You really do get value for money with all of the Clinique products, i cant rate them highly enough. As you can all see how much i have raved about them in my reviews. But i have yet to find any real fault with any of their products. And i do use alot of them. People think that Clinique is expensive, but for how long they last, you end up spending less with Clinique than you would with the high street brands.
