I am a self confessed mascara junky having numerous tubes of half used and new mascaras in my make up collection due to having not yet found that 'perfect' mascara, so hearing that Clinique had devised a mascara especially designed for the bottom lashes I decided that I must give it ago. I often find that mascara either smudges or becomes a little flaky and seems so wear off my bottom lashes so I was intrigued to see whether this mascara would behave in the same way or whether in fact it would stay in place all day. ==~~Price and Availability~~== This bottom lash mascara costs £11.00, which I do feel is a little expensive as it can only really be used on the bottom lashes; especially as Clinique is very rarely on offer meaning you have to pay this price the majority of the time- though when ordering online off Clinique you do sometimes receive other free samples! Clinique is now quite widely available, you can order it off their online store and can also purchase it in store at larger Boots stores, House of Fraser, Debenhams and most other large department stores. This mascara is currently available in two shades; black and brown/ black. ==~~Application~== This first thing I noticed about this mascara was how tiny it is and due to this the wand itself is also tiny, meaning it is perfect for applying to the bottom lashes. The bristles are fairly tightly compacted yet, yet spaced evenly which allows you to coat the eyelashes a little more evenly. The mascara itself is a very glossy black smooth texture; it's apparently the same formulation as their 'Lash Power' mascara which I have previously reviewed and loved. I found this mascara very easy to apply due to the size of the wand, due to it being very small it meant I could precisely capture all the bottom lashes which I sometimes find harder to do with the larger brush wands. Due to the mascara itself being very small, I sometimes found the applicator a little uncomfortable to hold, mainly due to it being so small I couldn't quite get the right grip on it. Despite this, with daily use of this mascara I soon found a way in which to hold it which still allowed precise application. Due to the smooth texture of this mascara it was very easy to apply to the eyelashes as it just glided on, the small size also meant it was very easy to apply mascara to the very inner corner eyelashes which I often find I cannot do with other 'normal' size mascara wands. I also found that I only need to apply one coat of this mascara to achieve this look, meaning a little goes a long way as often with other mascaras I have to apply at least two coats of mascara to my bottom lashes to look like I have any on. ==~~Results~~== When using this mascara on my bottom lashes they appeared to be considerably longer and evely spaced, yet did not at all look clumpy or spidery. The mascara did have a very slight gloss like finish to it, which I actually really liked it as I found that it made the eyelashes look healthier and the eyes more awake. This also brought out the black colour of the mascara which I also liked it as I hate it when mascaras are a grey black colour. When comparing this mascara on my bottom lashes compare to others I definitely noticed a difference, they looked considerably less clumpy and spidery and also noticed that a lot more of my lashes had been individually coated in the mascara, making my eyes look bigger. Unlike most other mascara I have applied to my bottom lashes I found that this mascara stayed in place all day, living up to its claims. It neither became flaky and neither did it become smeary or smudged underneath my eyes and even stayed looking freshly applied all day which was the man bonus to this mascara as I often find myself having to reapply my mascara on my bottom lashes. The gloss like feel black colour also stayed in place all day so neither did the mascara start to appear dried out or a grey black colour even when wearing it all day. It is safe so say I was thoroughly I impressed with the look achieved with this mascara and also the staying power. Despite the great staying power of this mascara it was still very easy to remove and neither did it cause drag or pull at my eyes. Very similar to the Lash Power mascara by Clinique when you use certain temperature water in this mascara (fairly warm) the mascara tends to remove itself in pieces and is very quick to do so. It is also just as quick and easy to remove with regular face wipes or cotton wool and cleanser/ make up remover. ==~~Overall~~== Overall I have been very impressed with this mascara and although to begin with I was a little dubious as to whether or not it would live up to its claims of no smearing or smudging underneath the eyes, I thoroughly believe it has lived up to these claims. I live the glossy of this mascara and the fact that I only need a small amount to achieve such a lovely look I can see this mascara lasting me a fairly long time, meaning that the £11 price tag is a little more justified. Although I do love this mascara I do still find £11 a little excessive for a mascara that can only be used on the bottom lashes and although I will probably still repurchase it as it means I no longer have to suffer from smeary/ flaky mascara underneath the eyes I do feel it would be much better priced around £8. Nonetheless other than the price I cannot really fault this mascara and for that I would recommend this mascara and am therefore going to award it 4 stars.
I felt like I had to review this item as I am a very big fan of Clinique, following in my mothers footsteps. With this product, some people may love it, whilst others may hate it but for the simple reason that some people prefer not to put mascara on their bottom lashes. But, I hope I can persuade this group! This mascara can be summed up as simply fantastic. I am not biased in the slightest but this is a brilliant product. I bought this from John Lewis online because it seemed to be the cheapest available and I am all for getting a bargain! First of all, bottom lash mascara comes in a beautiful silver tube in either brown or black. The tube is very girly and also stylish, you would not be ashamed of pulling this one out of your handbag anywhere! Clinique products are also allergy tested and 100% fragrance free, therefore suitable for everyone. Moving on to the brush of this mascara...This is the tricky part of this product because it so unusual to have a mascara for the top lashes and a mascara specifically for the bottom lashes. Anyhow, the brush is slightly curved and thin aiming to intensify those beautiful lashes and make them stand out. With using this product daily, it has lasted me around 2 months and believe me, you only need one coat. This mascara is worth the money as it makes your eyes look very wide and extremely bold. I would also say this is not really for people who like to have a natural make up look because it is meant to be extreme and make the eyes stand out. The only downfall with this is that it can be a little clumpy at times, but this is easily fixed with a pair of tweezers making the eye lashes stick together and look wonderful! Thanks for taking the time to read my review. Holly.
I am not a big make-up wearer and in my make-up bag there is foundation, lipstick and mascara. I use these 3 items of make-up every single day, I am never without them. For that reason I like good quality, hardworking products. I have found one in this Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. The mascara is quite well priced at £10 for a tube. It is available to buy from all Clinique counters and these counters can be found in high end department stores like Debenhams and Frasers. They can also be found in larger Boots stores. I bought the mascara in black, it also comes in a black/brown shade. My results: I have always had trouble applying mascara to my bottom eyelids and for that reason I was looking forward to trying this new product. When I open the mascara for the first time the colour is a pure black. The mascara looks shiny and very glossy. The mascara is unfragranced, it really just smells like other mascaras. The tube the mascara comes in is both cute and pretty, it's a small tube, not much bigger than a lipstick, so it won't take up much room in your make-up bag. The mascara brush is quite small, much smaller than usual mascara brushes. It is compacted with bristles, the bristles are not at all jaggy, they are soft and flexible. The mascara brush although quite small proves to be very easy to use. On my first attempt at coating my bottom lashes with this mascara I am quite amazed with my results. I experience no smudges or smears at all, my bottom lashes looks thicker and longer, it has been a very successful application and a long time since my bottom lashes have looked so good. The mascara is waterproof and suitable for for all sin types. The mascara is easily removed with either face wipes or eye make-up remover. All in all I really like this new concept in mascara from Clinique. If, like me you have trouble applying mascara to your bottom eyelashes then this is the must have product for you. As I said before it is quite a small tube of mascara but the mascara is true black and gives a shiny, glossy result. It really is the end of smudged, stuck together bottom eyelashes. Good for the price and I really think this little tube of bottom lash mascara is going to be longlasting and worth the money. This in my opinion is a 5 star product from Clinique.
Mascara is my main vice I must have at lest 20 different ones in my makeup bag just for the fact I love trying new ones to achieve maximum effect on my lashes as I believe this is what really makes your eyes stand out. When Clinique brought this little beauty secret out it went straight on my Christmas list. Like most women this was a problem for me coating the bottom lashes so that they did not smudge but at the same time did not look clogged up. I chose the shade of brown as that is what matches my other mascaras for a more natural look but it is also available in black too.For £10 you receive a regular bottle of mascara with the silver decoration I am now used to from Clinique. On appearance it appears to be the same as any Clinique mascara until you unscrew the lid and then you notice the difference. The application brush on this mascara is tiny it is very small and thin and is perfect for reaches those difficult small lashes. The bottle and applicator are both comfy to hold and the regular sized bottle is a great idea as the comfort makes it even easier to use. Upon application I coated my top lashes with my usual curling Clinique mascara and then unscrewed this lovely mascara. I coated the bottom lashes very easily with the small brush it me space to manoeuvre to the more difficult lashes at the edges to leave my lashes with a brilliant full coated effect on the bottom which paired with the top was brilliant. I apply it early in the morning before leaving for work and it is still apparent when I return home at night time that it has been used on my bottom lashes which is great as it is long lasting. I have tried using it on my top lashes and it still gives a great effect just not as full as it is a smaller brush and it takes a little longer to apply it. This is another great idea from Clinique as it is a problem that has been solved before being given this I did not know there was such a thing as a mascara just for bottom lashes. Its long lasting very effective and at £10 it does last for ages so well worth the money.
I received this in a gift bag that I got for Eid from a friend. I received two mascaras, this one and the "top lash" mascara. If you read my review on that mascara, you will know I certainly wasn't impressed with it. Although with this it was a slightly different story. My top and bottom lashes are very full and very long. However, my eyelashes are blonde and I sometimes feel that my eyes are always ghost-like and I never feel very confident about them. I never use the Clinique top lash mascara as I felt my Maybelline Stiletto does a much better job. However, I am absolutely always using this non-stop and I bought another one even thought the first one was free. It is very hard to catch the bottom lashes with a larger brush without getting mascara all over the bottom of you eyes and causing you to smudge your foundation. The brush is absolutely tiny. It is very thin at one end and a bit thicker and the other, the length merely 1cm long. The brush goes almost in a spiral shape, allowing you to twist and turn the brush to really catch those bottom lashes. It is a fluffy brush and not a plastic one like the top lash mascara is meaning you can catch the little corners of eyelashes that the large plastic brushes wouldn't catch. I have had two different colours with this mascara. I have had brown and I have had had black. I thought the brown down a much better job as they highlighted your lashes and framed your eyes a bit more but it wasn't as harsh and as bold as the black. The black can sometimes highlight your bottom lashes a bit too much making you look a little silly. The application is very easy with this tiny brush. You must scrape a lot of the mascara off the brush before using it as it collects more mascara than what you actually need. Then you can very slowly give your bottom lashes a tiny touch the with the brush just so you can see where they are. Them, you can place the brush under the lashes and swirl in in a upwards direction and they should just bounce back down looking highlighted and a lot longer. As it is a smaller brush, it does not clump and stick your eyelashes together. It doesn't increase your eyelashes in length very much although nobody really wants incredibly long bottom lashes anyway, all you want is for them to volumised and darkened without getting all your face covered in mascara. I have poked myself in the eye with it a few times and it did sting like nothing else. However, you aren't exactly supposed to get it in your eye, but take this as a warning anyway. It isn't as durable as I thought it would be because almost one year later and my second bottle is starting to dry up a little. However, you can always take the mascara brush and put it into any other mascara and simply keep using it. Since the brush is so small it will fit into another other mascara tube no problem and you can keep using the mascara despite the actual liquid itself running out. It lasts for 24 hours meaning you really do get good value. The product is only £10 which is great as most mascaras cost this price anyway.
I saw this mascara being used by 'pixiwoo' on their you tube channel and I thought I have to have it! I have really rubbish eyelashes and find putting mascara on the bottom set with a normal mascara wand quite difficult and it often led to my lashes leaving some black around my eyes. Not dramatically so but enough to get on my nerves. So I headed off to Debenhams to snap up this mascara that the gurus claimed was 'fantastic, didn't transfer and made lashes look fab'. They weren't lying it really is fantastic. I wonder what took beauty companies so long to come up with it? Price: £10 from the clinique counter at Debenhams. It is a tiny little tube so £10 seems expensive, but Clinique mascaras are quality and this is no exception so it is worth the money. Packaging: I love the packaging for this. Inside the typical clinique floral cardboard outer packaging, there is a small silver mascara tube with floral embossing on the body and plain silver for the lid. It looks cute but elegant. There is no writing on the tube at all so I often lose it in my make-up drawer, confusing it for an eye liner due to its size. I think some writing would have been nice, but its not a huge issue. Application: The mascara wand is a small bristle cone about 1/2 an inch in length and this makes it perfect for bottom lashes as it can get into the corners and separates each lash nicely. The colour is strong and the effect that it gives is fantastic. Much better than any effect I ever achieved with a normal mascara wand. Performance: This mascara does not budge! I can wear this all day and there is literally no movement. I don't have black trails under my eyes at the end of the day any more. My eyes look more wide and alert, I love this product and can't really think what I did before. I have on occasion used it on my upper lashes too and it works fantastically. If you want to make the most of your lashes this should be a make up staple! I'm sure many other make-up brands will follow with their own bottom lash mascaras but for now Clinique is top of the game!
This is a small mascara with a small brush ideal for those small bottom lashes! Okay, enough of the small word, but you get the drift! Anyway, I have only recently invested in this Clinique product, but I have found no disadvantages as of yet. I find that with normal mascara brushes it smudges or gets a bit tricky to apply without leaving marks. The little brush is ideal for applying the mascara, and the actual mascara is proving well for a bottom lash mascara, long lasting wear and does not smudge (which mascara on the bottom lashes tends to do). I even use it for the little inner top lashes as it easily applies on those hard to get lashes. If your mascara is working well for your top and bottom lashes, then obviously don't bother with this product. I only ending up investing because 1. i'm a beauty fanatic anyway, but also 2. is that I gave up with putting normal mascara on bottom lashes, as I always found it smudges and was annoying to apply at times. So this led me too try out the Clinique mascara and so far, it works well for my bottom lashes, and small inner lashes too. The whole container is approx. 8cm long, and the brush is under 1cm so you can get a feel for a small it is. On the down side, considering this is a small bottom lash mascara the pricing (normally retails at £10) is a bit too much in my eyes. However, Clinique aren't really a cheap brand - so I guess you can expect this kind of price but that is a bit of a disadvantage. Overall, i'm pleased with the product.
Like most of us girls I love my make up and usually buy regular mid range priced items. I am lucky enough to have natural very long eyelashes, and am always getting asked if they are real and if not where did I buy them but while long lashes are very nice they are also hard to get covered without getting them all stuck together. This is one of my pet hates and usually find that with my top lashes a good comb sorts this out but the bottom lashes are a different story altogether. I find the whole process of getting them coated nicely a very messy process. Hence I spent more than usual on Clinique Mascara especially for lower lashes I bought my Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara from my local Boots for £10.00. It is sold in a pretty silver and black tube with a flower pattern on it. Whilst this is very attractive and I'm sure I am paying for this it hasn't lasted very well in my make up bag. I found the pattern scratched very easily. The lid twists on and off easily and the wand is attached to the lid as with all mascaras. I know the brush is designed for the bottom lashes and I was expecting it to be small but I was surprised to see just how small it actually was, its barely 1cm! and at this point I'm thinking it will take me hours to coat my lashes. My local Boots only had 2 colour choices, Black or Brown, I bought black. The first morning I used the new mascara I found it was quite runny compared to other brands. It did coat my lower lashes very well and built up the layers quickly and evenly though. The little brush made it much easier to get all the lashes in the corner of my eye. I was quite impressed. I did have a couple of splodges on my face but the whole process was much less messier than using a regular sized brush. I found the little brush made it easy to coat the very tips of my lashes which are very light. When I had finished the mascara looked nice and I was pleased. It lasted well all day and I had no problems with flaking and no irritation. I always take my make up off with a remover and I had no problems wiping this off. It didn't drag my lashes or pull any out. All in all I'm pleased I bought this. It does make applying mascara to the bottom lashes easier and the results look good. I had less blobs to clean up after applying it although I suspect if you have a very steady hand you might not need this in the first place. It coats tiny lashes and the tips of my eyelashes better than my regular mascara, the quality is good and it goes on well. The price is a bit more than I would usually pay but its not too outrageous. If you struggle with mascara on your lower lashes I would recommend giving this one a try. I certainly wasn't disappointed.
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara is a recent addition to their extensive mascara collection. I haven't heard or come across a product like this before purely aimed for your lower lashes and think it might be quite unique to Clinique. This was a gift and a superfluous makeup product that I would not normally think about buying for myself. The mascara comes in a box slightly larger than the product itself. The packaging is the normal pink/green/beige cardboard wrapping with Clinique written in silver and a short product description on the back of the box. The mascara is a small, silver circular tube with dimensions of 7cm x 1cm diameter. The lid twists off and is plain silver coloured that scuffs very easily. The tube holding the mascara has a frosted silver background with a shiny floral pattern which looks very dainty and pretty. I was honestly shocked at how small the mascara brush was, it is cone shaped and about half a centimetre in length with only five whirls around the mascara brush. The mascara fluid is quite thin and coats the bristles well. The application process is quite odd, as you are having to use two different mascaras it would not be practical to use this on your top lashes as it would take days to apply! The nice thing about this is that it is very delicate and easy to control during application and you don't end up with the mascara transferring or smudging under your bottom lashes leaving marks. The mascara leaves just enough coating on the lashes to make them stand out and separates them well. The applicator brush and lid is very light and easy to control and let you define your lashes that a larger mascara brush just can't let you do. I only tend to put this on at weekends or if I am out for the night purely because of the extra time it takes to apply and I am always rushing to get to work. I would say it lasts well (about seven to eight hours) and doesn't run or smudge when I'm wearing it. For a change this is a modestly priced item from Clinique costing £10 available from their website and department stores (currently out of stock on both their website and Boots but should be available in stores). The product comes in Black and Brown colours only and is 2ml (which might explain the price!). I am happy with this mascara, however I wouldn't buy it again, I just cannot get my head around the fact you need to use two mascaras and in the addition the expense of them. The person who gave it me said the shop assistant said you could use it on both but I don't have that much time on my hands, plus it wouldn't last a week! All in all for the cosmetic obsessive's among us this is a great addition to any makeup bag and it does what it says on the tin, but in my opinion is a bit pointless.
Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara / Small by design / So bottom lashes can show off / Big time / Coats those hard to reach bottom lashes with a slick coat of black for lashes that are stand out pretty /
