Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara
Advantages: great little brush, makes lashes look great, fair price, lasts long
Disadvantages: none really
I received this in a gift bag that I got for Eid from a friend. I received two mascaras, this one and the "top lash" mascara. If you read my review on that mascara, you will know I certainly wasn't impressed with it. Although with this it was a slightly different story. My top and bottom lashes are very full and very long. However, my eyelashes are blonde and I sometimes feel that my eyes are always ghost-like and I never feel very confident about them.
I never use the Clinique top lash mascara as I felt my Maybelline Stiletto does a much better job. However, I am absolutely always using this non-stop and I bought another one even thought the first one was free. It is very hard to catch the bottom lashes with a larger brush without getting mascara all over the bottom of you eyes and causing you to smudge your foundation.
The brush is absolutely tiny. It is very thin at one end and a bit thicker and the other, the length merely 1cm long. The brush goes almost in a spiral shape, allowing you to twist and turn the brush to really catch those bottom lashes. It is a fluffy brush and not a plastic one like the top lash mascara is meaning you can catch the little corners of eyelashes that the large plastic brushes wouldn't catch.
I have had two different colours with this mascara. I have had brown and I have had had black. I thought the brown down a much better job as they highlighted your lashes and framed your eyes a bit more but it wasn't as harsh and as bold as the black. The black can sometimes highlight your bottom lashes a bit too much making you look a little silly.
The application is very easy with this tiny brush. You must scrape a lot of the mascara off the brush before using it as it collects more mascara than what you actually need. Then you can very slowly give your bottom lashes a tiny touch the with the brush just so you can see where they are. Them, you can place the brush under the lashes and swirl in in a upwards direction and they should just bounce back down looking highlighted and a lot longer.
As it is a smaller brush, it does not clump and stick your eyelashes together. It doesn't increase your eyelashes in length very much although nobody really wants incredibly long bottom lashes anyway, all you want is for them to volumised and darkened without getting all your face covered in mascara.
I have poked myself in the eye with it a few times and it did sting like nothing else. However, you aren't exactly supposed to get it in your eye, but take this as a warning anyway.
It isn't as durable as I thought it would be because almost one year later and my second bottle is starting to dry up a little. However, you can always take the mascara brush and put it into any other mascara and simply keep using it. Since the brush is so small it will fit into another other mascara tube no problem and you can keep using the mascara despite the actual liquid itself running out. It lasts for 24 hours meaning you really do get good value.
The product is only £10 which is great as most mascaras cost this price anyway.
Summary: It's fab
