      lovely

      I was recently treated to this eye shadow duo by my daughter in law for my wedding anniversary. It may seem like a bit of an odd present but Clinique is rather expensive and I cannot justify spending that money on myself so whenever it's a celebration of some kind my family treat me to some more beauty products from this great range.

      I really like Clinique, yes they are more expensive than others, but they are very good quality and do actually do what they say they will.

      This duo eye shadow is lovely. It comes in a shiny silver case which you can actually use as a mirror it is so tiny! It unclips and opens to reveal two colours of eyeshadow, an applicator and a little mirror inside. This is what makes Clinique products different to high street make up- you are not likely to get a little mirror inside your eye shadow or a case which looks so classy as this.

      The eye shadow I have is the brown one and it is split into two. A large section of shadow and a small section. The small section is the main colour which is a deep brown, the large section has a pale fawn colour within it. Sometimes I do think it's a bit of a shame that the main colour is the smaller section but I think this is because you use the two together to make a perfect blend and you shouldn't need as much of a dark colour as you would a light.

      The applicator has a pad on one side and a brush on the other so you can use whichever works best for you. I think this is a great idea!

      The aim of the make up is to use the two colours together to create an impact so you can highlight certain areas- under your eyebrows perhaps and add depth. The two colours work very well together and they blend into each other perfectly, it is definitely well thought out.

      I like to save this for special occasions as I think it's quite special and the result can be quite an impact but you can use it for every day wear if you like as you can tone it down a bit.

      I find that when I apply this is goes on well and doesn't gather at creases. It also stays on throughout the day, quite often with eye shadow it just disappears but not this it actually stays in place although it may need a bit of touching up!

      This costs about £15 which is very expensive compared to other brands but I think that it's great value for money as it looks very effective and it does seem to last a long time but perhaps that is because I don't use this as part of my daily make up regime.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        good but expensive!

        Clinique is a premium beauty brand offering skincare, perfume, mens products and makeup.

        ~~~Colour Surge~~~
        Clinique have a few different ranges of eyeshadows. One such range is the Colour Surge range which offers single, duo, trio and quad sets of eyeshadows. There are various colour combinations available depending on which set you purchase. The duo eyeshadows in this range are ophthalmologist tested so suitable for sensitive eyes. The eyshadows come in powder form and Clinique claim that intense colour can be obtained with one stroke.
        ~~~Shades~~~

        You get 2 shades per duo set and one shade is larger than the other. They can be worn alone or blended for different looks. The current duo shade list available includes 11 different duos. These are named Deco-Dence, Blackberry Frost and Strawberry Fudge to name just a few.

        ~~~Design~~~
        The full size eyeshadow duo, comes as a silver, mirrored palette. The shadows are placed into sections within the palette and a Clinique embossed double applicator is present in its own slot.
        ~~~Availability and Price~~~

        Clinique is available online and in departments stores. This duo eyeshadow will set you back £19.00 for 2.5g of eyeshadow.

        ~~~My Thoughts~~~
        As you all know, I buy and sell premium beauty products on ebay and often keep some bits and pieces for myself. In general, the products I sell are gift with purchase meaning they are smaller than the full size and usually packaged slightly different. My Clinique eyeshadows come in either silver palettes or the green ones they offer. I have a few different Colour Surge eyeshadows including a trio containing the Strawberry Fudge duo and also the Like Mink. My palettes follow the same layout of the full sizes just smaller.
        These GWP palettes can be picked up very cheap on ebay and are a great way of trying out the eyeshadows without paying full price. £19.00 is a hefty price tag for a fancy palette so if you can get it cheaper, then I recommend going for it! My review discusses the use of the both duos I own. Although I don't where eyeshadow all the time, I do wear it sometimes and the colours/looks I go for depend on where I am going and what other makeup I am wearing.
        ~~~Strawberry Fudge~~~

        The palette I have containing this duo includes a single called Sugar Sugar. Strawberry Fudge offers 2 complimenting powder eyeshadows which have a light shimmer about them but nothing over the top. There is a light brown shadde and a matching dusty pink shade which are certainly day time shades and very cute and girly in appearance. The brush provided is spongy and soft but firm enough to allow even application.

        The dusty pink may put some off as it does look rather dark. The eyeshadow sweeps up onto the applicator sponge without the need to keep running over it. The colour lightens up and appears naturally bright as it is applied over my eyelids. It sweeps over my eyelid with complete ease and doesn't appear to crease into my eyelid lines. It is very smooth and feels incredibly lightweight to the extent that I don't even feel it on my eyelids.

        Colour wise, Cliniques claims are true and the colour does transfer from sponge to eyelid with one sweep and is quite intense but pretty looking. The pink is pretty and noticeable. The brown shade is quite intense and slightly glimmery. It offers a smoky eyed look which is quite nice when I want to glam it up a bit. Applying a sweep of the pink onto my lid and smoothing over a tiny amount of the brown, leads to a gorgeous, shimmers mauve shade.

        This look is ideal for summer and blending or wearing alone produce equally impressive results. Despite the colours being generally pale, they stay smooth and crease free for most of the day and come off with some makeup remover or wipes with no irritation to my sensitive eyes. The pink in particular looks stunning with some black mascara and eyeliner.

        ~~~Like Mink~~~
        The Like Mink offers the same design and applicator sponge as the Strawberry Fudge. The shade theme here is offers a larger section which is a creamy, ivory shade and a smaller section of a dark brown shade. I tend to use this one if I am going to be going out somewhere fancy where a pretty pink colour may look out of place! These colours may not suit everyone or appeal to them but don't let them deceive you.
        The intensity of the shades here are less noticeable than with the brighter colours. The ivory colour transfers onto my eyelid quite well and comes across as very natural, subtle and understated. There is a light shimmer about it but its hardly noticeable and the emphasis is on a creamy, smooth appearance. The brown comes onto the sponge rather dark but that is with quite a few rubs over the palette. Once on the eye, it lightens up and is more of a light, gentle brown which is a far cry from the colour in the palette.
        I usually blend these 2 colours together to increase visability. Applying the brown first and sweeping a layer of ivory over the top, allows a soft, natural look which is ideal for fancying parties or even for work as it doesn't confirm you are a show off! The colour tends to fade away gradually and is almost gone by the end of the day or night.
        ~~~Conclusion~~~

        Personally I feel the £19.00 price tag is for the fancy packaging and the premium name. Whilst I like wearing these eyeshadows and the shade range is appealing, I believe its a hit and miss between which colours stand out more than others. The Strawberry Fudge is a common seller on ebay and offers the better colour intensity so I consider this one my favourite. It feels so pleasant on my eyes and looks pretty with different looks being achievable.

        I believe you can get better eyeshadows and many of them for less than the price of the Colour Surge ones but certainly pick up the GWP palettes on ebay and save a fortune! I've owned a full size before and although the mirror provides enough room to apply to one eye, the packaging is very overated and how often do you take your eyeshadow out and about?

        Thanks for reading :)

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A good quality eye shadow but comes at a high price.

          Since I first started using Clinique products a few years ago I have been trying out and using their products ever since. I do believe that once you start using Clinique, it is hard to tear yourself away from the brand! It is pricey but their products are good quality and I have yet to be left disappointed with any of their make-up products.

          My sister also loves Clinique, and buys their products more than I do. Some time ago she got free gifts they were offering when you spent so much on their products. She ended up with a lot of miniatures and freebies and so gave some to me, this eye shadow being one of them. The shade is called Deco-dence, a brown and a nude colour. Clinqiue offer two different shades of colours in one compact that when put together blend nicely and go very well with each other. There are several other different shades available, but they are all quite subtle colours and no bold or stand-out shades. As I like to wear subtle colours for work though then this was perfect.

          Clinique state to apply the lighter shade to eyelids. from lash line to brow bone. Use deeper shade in crease, as liner, or all over lids. Blend up and outward to desired intensity level. I use the deeper shade on the outsides and in the crease and it creates a lovely look, but I have lately just been wearing the lighter colour alone by itself as it creates a natural look, which is what I like for work.

          I have found when applying the eye shadow that I really only need one stroke, and even from this it lasts all day and is still visible when I am finished work. There is no need for a top-up. With cheaper eye shadows that I was always used to wearing, I needed to apply several coats for my desired look and even then it would not last as long as this Clinique eye shadow does on the eye. I always thought no eye shadow could possibly last on the eye all day without fading slightly, but when I started using this I soon realised that this is not the case and you can actually get eye shadows that last all day!

          This product is ophthalmologist tested for even the most sensitive eyes, so if you are worried it could irritate you then don't. I have sensitive eyes and have to stay away from many of Rimmel's eye products and so I am always careful when trying out new eye make-up, but this one does not irritate my eyes.

          The only bad thing about this product is the price tag. It costs £19, which I would never pay for an eye shadow. I am glad that I got this free and the only way I will be purchasing this again is when it is included in a free gift by Clinique. So if like me you like this product or would like to try it out, but the price puts you off, then wait for when Clinique are offering a free gift when spending over so much on their products. They often do this promotion and the eyeshadow I have now, which was part of a free gift, is actually the full size.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A quality eye shadow that gives a polished natural look

            I love wearing make-up and have great fun experimenting with colours and different looks. It's nice to have lots of products to play around with but there are always a few items that become must-haves and form the basis of most of my 'faces'. I tend to put the focus on my eyes and go for bold, bright looks with heavy liner. I like to wear make-up every day and I stick to a natural look that is suitable for work. I received this eye shadow as a gift from a friend, and I must say it was very well received! You can buy Clinique make-up and skin care products from high street beauty stores and department stores such as Boots, Debenhams, House of Fraser etc.

            Colour Surge is an eye shadow produced by cosmetics giant Clinique. I have the Duo, and it is also available in singles, trios and quads. The costs are quite high but Clinique are a quality brand and I think this is a case of you get what you pay for. A Colour Surge Single costs £14.00, Duo £19.00, Trio £21.00 and Quad £23.00. The Single and Duo both contain 2.5g of product, with the Trio containing 3.1g and the Quad containing 4.8g, so you can see the 2 larger sizes cost more but you are getting more product and this gives you more choice to create and combine colours for different looks. The Colour Surge Duo Eyeshadow is available in 11 different combinations and each eye shadow contains two colours that complement each other. I have this in the "Deco-dence" colour, which contains a soft neutral nude partnered with a deep muted browned grey shade.

            Product description: "Creamy, intense colour in one stroke. Surprisingly lightweight. Ophthalmologist tested for even the most sensitive eyes. Blendable duos bring day/dusk/evening drama. The end of the quiet eye."

            The packaging is great, I think it looks very modern and sleek and would add a stylish touch to any girl's make-up bag. The eye shadow comes in a plastic box with a high shine silver finish on the outside, and instead of having a lid the outer section slides back and forth to open and close. Inside there are 2 sections containing the eye shadows, with the neutral base colour being a larger size than the deeper contrasting colour. It also contains a handy little sponge tipped applicator brush which slots neatly into the slide out inner section.

            Directions for use:

            + Apply lighter shade to eyelids, from lash line to brow bone.
            + Use deeper shade in crease, as liner, or all over lids. Blend up and outward to desired intensity level.
            + Clean applicator frequently for smoothest application, coverage.

            This eye shadow has an incredibly smooth powder formulation and I've found it feels a lot softer than any other powder eye shadows that I have in my collection. This means that it spreads easily and is incredibly simple to apply and to blend. I normally hate sponge tipped make-up brushes, but the one included in this eye shadow duo actually has a very good design. The handle is slightly longer than usual which makes it easier to control, and the sponge is very gentle on the skin which makes a blissful change from cheap and scratchy sponge brushes that drag over the eyelids.

            The way I like to use this product is to wear both colours at once. To do this, I first apply the beige shade over the whole of my eyelid. I then gently line some of the darker shade into the crease of the eye socket and blend along that line. This gives a straightforward contoured look that is fresh and simple for day to day wear, and still defines my eyes and draws attention to them. My eyes are my favourite facial feature so I like to make sure they look their best. I normally finish off this look with a bit of black eye liner pencil and a good coating of black mascara.

            I have been wearing this eye shadow duo day in, day out and had nothing but fantastic results. The soft powdery texture glides over the skin very gently and has superb staying power. From applying this first thing in the morning, it will still look perfect by the end of the day when I'm ready to remove my make-up and hop into bed. There are no signs of any fading, smudging, or the dreaded creasing. I find that because the colours are quite soft it can appear dull and muted but it just needs a bit of patience and you can gradually build up colour to your desired level. The shades complement each other very well and blend in neatly to give a complimentary appearance.

            I am really thrilled with my Colour Surge Eyeshadow Duo and think it was a lovely gift to receive. I've never been that into Clinique before, mainly because I think of them as being somewhat plain and overpriced. After looking at the other eye shadow colours in this range I must say that they are on the tame side and there is not much variety to choose from. Dare I say it the colours are a bit boring and basic, and would be best suited to a minimalist look for work, or for more mature ladies that want to step away from bright colours and avoid the garish Dame Edna look. I think that these subtle colours are more universally appealing than vibrant shades might be, as they are versatile and can be worn by practically any woman regardless of age and personal style. The neutral tones are very flattering against the skin and help make your eyes stand out.

            I'm very happy with my Deco-dence duo as it suits me perfectly for my everyday natural look, and I would consider checking out more of Clinique's make-up in the future. This is a high quality product and the performance really speaks for itself. Give it a try if you don't mind forking out the cash, it will be well worth the money in the long run.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              A lovely eye shadow from Clinique

              I'm a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for' and nothing can be more true in the case of a good quality eyeshadow. We've all been there, in a shop seduced by an array of fancy coloured eyeshadows at bargain prices, only to get them home and find that they are so insipid, that they are literally only good for kids make belive and dress up games. That's why I like eyeshadows by premium brand as the colour is more intense as it contains a better quality pigment.

              I purchased Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo a few weeks ago in the Strawberry Fudge colour way. It comes packaged beautifully, it has a lovely silver lidded case with a small mirror inside, and has a handy little applicator enclosed. This retails at £18.50 for 2.5g.

              I find that the small applicator is pretty good quality and works well too. It has a sponge applicator at one end, and a brush at the other. I find that the sponge is better than the brush as it can 'pick up' more eyeshadow. They are both gentle and soft, unlike some that come with other brands which tend to be poor quality and quite harsh.

              The colours are lovely, very creamy and intense, they glide on easily, can be built up in layers to increase depth of colour and blend easily too. They are very long lasting, I apply in the morning, and by the end of a long day, my eye shadow still looks pretty good, it does fade a little, but hardly noticeable. It doesn't tend to flake or melt away, and the colour stays true until it is removed.

              The eye shadow is lightweight and feels almost as if you are not wearing eye shadow at all, so making this very comfortable and not at all cakey.

              The colours are very wearable too, nothing too 'out there', but still up to the minute enough to be fashionable. The Strawberry Fudge duo is a medium coppery brown colour, and a light pink, both have a nice shimmer but are not overly glittery. This duo I feel is suitable for both day wear and evening, all depending upon how you wear and apply. Like I have said you can build up intensity for evenings out.

              The eye shadow is easy to remove using a good quality make up remover.

              Would I recommend this product? Yes, definitely, this is a premium product and deserves its price tag. The colours are beautiful, it's very easy to apply and lovely to wear. If you love eye shadow you will love Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Great for that added sparkle to your summer look

              Firstly i have a lot of makeup!, A big percentage of this is Clinique, it can be expensive, but if your after qaulity stuff then its definelty worth spalshing out a few extra pounds. Although lucky for me friends and family know me well, so i had this along with a few other clinique essentials taht i will also give a review for, as a christmas present.
              This paticular palet is now well on its way to seeing the bpttem of the bin, as its always in my handbag. You cant go wrong with a simple gold shimmer look for everyday makeup.
              If your looking for a quick simple, natural eye for work or just in a rush, this cute simple little set is all you need.
              Go for the lighter shade as a base all over the lid first, with the rounded brush side. Then switch to the darker shade closer to the lashes for a lovely golden shimmer, that really opens up the eye, add a little mascara, and youve got the perfect natural summer look for your eyes.
              The qaulity of the brush is great unlike with really cheap brands its hasnt fell apart.
              So small and cute, you can fit it in your purse, pocket or anywhere if your travelling really light and only have room for essentials then this is definelty one!

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              A sumptuous product but very expensive

              The Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo is a fantastic product with a number of great features, the main one being that it looks great!

              It comes in a very attractive mirrored compact which looks very classy and expensive. The applicator is also very good. It has a brush for applying the lighter base shade and then a sponge tip for applying the darker colour and blending. I found this particularly appealing as it kept the two colours seperate and made it very easy and quick to apply. I find that the two colours tend to mix on the sponge applicator with other products and the fact that Clinique avoid this is, for me, a distinct advantage.

              I initially bought this eye shadow as part of a three for two promotion in Debenhams. At approximately £18.00 it was massively expensive compared to the £6 or £7 I usually spend on an eye shadow but I'm glad I did - it looks gorgeous! The shimmery base coat is the first I have found that stays looking fresh all day. It creates a lovely effect according to where the light is falling on your face and is really striking. I use the 'strawberry fudge' colours and they compliment each other beautifully.

              As a treat this is a lovely product. It is excellent in quality and appearance and looks fabulous. However, for me, it is very expensive and although I would love to use it all the time the price does mean that it's a special occasion only product.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              Clinique's Colour Surge Eyeshadow Duos are well worth the money

              I'm hardly an expert on eye makeup but since I got a new, fancy job, I figured I had to look the part. After being unhappy with the quality of Boots No7 Stay Perfect Trio, I decided I should try something a bit pricier, and went with this Clinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow Duo.

              First of all, I always find that when you buy duos or trios that there's never enough product of the base colour vs the highlight colours. This isn't the case with this duo. As you can see from the picture above, there's lots of the base colour, but not too little of the highlight colour, making the amounts to be perfect. There's also a very nice collection of shades available, from ones that are lighter and better for daytime, to darker, more dramatic ones that would be great for dressing up for an evening.

              Another thing that struck me with this is how large the applicator is, despite the compact size of the duo itself. The sponge is big enough to get lots of product on it and give excellent coverage. In addition, I also appreciated getting a brush on the other end, which allows me to add just enough of the highlight colour to make an accent, and blend it nicely with the base colour. With this, I can get a lovely transition effect between the two shades, making the overall look very subtle and sophisticated. Plus, there's a mirror inside the lid, making this very portable - just right for the busy commuter who sometimes needs to finish up getting ready for work on the train.

              More impressive is how very soft and smooth this product is. It feels extremely light and silky on my lids, but not overly powdery - in fact, it almost feels creamy, which is a true surprise with a powdered shadow. What's more, since I wear contact lenses, my eyes are very sensitive to getting stray dust into them, and this product clings to my lids perfectly. This is particularly good since I bought one with lots of sparkle, and often the glittery bits are what seem to fall off and end up blinding me. So far I haven't had this happen even once, and even more incredible is despite how shiny it all is it all stays where I put it. I can't tell you how many times I've bought a shadow like this only to have glitter all over my face, making me look like Lady GaGa after application. Most importantly, this looks as good at the end of the day as it does when I put it on in the morning, and it doesn't well-up in the crease of my lids like some shadows I've tried (and with hooded eyes like mine, this is often a real problem for me).

              The only drawback of this product is that it is expensive. Selling at a whopping £18 at Boots, this is almost twice the price of No7's trio. Still, I'm so thrilled with this that I really don't care, and I can't even remove one star from it because of this. Moreover, this seems to last quite a long time, and since my No7 trio got hard quickly and covered less with more product, I think this is well worth the extra money. For that, I'll give it a full five stars and highly recommend this duo.

                I don't think I could possibly tell you anything that hasn't already been covered in the other review, I just wanted to reiterate what has already been said. This really is the best eyeshadow i've ever used, albeit I have only ever bought the cheaper ones from Rimmel, Bourjois, Loreal etc. Yes it is expensive for eyeshadow, but I've always had it given as a gift. If you wear eyeshadow on a daily basis then I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better one. I will last all day, won't crease, and the colour stays true.

                A high quality eye shadow from Clinique.

                My love of the Clinique Colour Surge eye shadow duo's came about purely by Clinique often popping an eye shadow into their famous free gifts. Seeing as I often only buy the things I use from Clinique when they have a free gift on, I've ended up with quite a few of their eye shadows over time. Before this I was quite happy using any old eye shadow from brands such as Rimmel or Maybelline, believing that a bit of 'colour' on my eye lids was all that was needed. I didn't realise the quality of these brands was rather poor until trying Clinique.

                When looking at Clinique's eye shadow range you will see they come in all shapes and sizes, with the Duo being just one. You can also get a Trio of eye shadows, or a Quad, or you can stick to just a solo shadow on its own. I love the duo ones as they tend to have a small darker shade and a larger bright shade in each 'shade.' The 2 shades will match together nicely, meaning you can have a darker shade for your lids, blending out nicely into a lighter shade.

                You won't find any bright and colourful shades here. I'm thinking of the eye shadows that Urban Decay do or the huge MAC range. The Clinique eye shadows are more suitable for everyday wear; I mean who wants to wear bright greens and purples on your average day in the office? That being said depending on how you apply your eye shadow, quite a few of the ranges would also be excellent for the evening if you apply them more heavily, you just have to flick through the shades to find the one you're looking for.

                A thing I love about the Clinique eye shadows is that they all come with an applicator, and it's not a cheap and nasty one hastily thrown in. It's an excellent quality applicator, and comes with a soft sponge applicator and a small brush. I've found when using an eye shadow trio from Rimmel for example, the applicator sponge brush that came with it was just awful, and I had to use a separate brush. This is not the case with the Clinique applicators as they genuinely do a great job of blending in the eye shadow.

                The eye shadow itself is brilliant, and you are certainly getting what you paid for with these. The colour goes on my eyelids instantly in one stroke, I found with Rimmel eye shadows I can be applying coat after coat and it still barely looks as if there's any colour there! This isn't the case with the Clinique eye shadows which are just so easy to apply. The applicator supplied with the eye shadow makes blending in the two colours so simple, and the overall finish looks great. The eye shadow once applied is really light weight, despite it being nice and creamy, and most importantly it won't crease during the day. I find that my eye shadow lasts all day, it doesn't smudge, crease or move, and it stays looking just as good as when I first applied it in the morning. I love to use the darker shade on my lids and sometimes as a gentle liner on my bottom eye lid to give a more striking effect. I apply the lighter shade from the eye lid to brow bone, making sure I blend it in nicely. You can build up the intensity of the colour if you want something more bold, and the colour pigment of this eye shadow shows really well, it's easy to see how high quality it really is.

                The eye shadow duo's will set you back £18, which is expensive for 2 eye shadows but worth every single penny. My Rimmel eye shadows now lay forgotten, in comparison they are terrible and not worth the money at all.
                If you don't want to spend £18 I would highly recommend checking out eBay, because Clinique gave away free eye shadows all the time in their free gifts you will often get one much cheaper on eBay. For example search for the Strawberry Fudge shade and you'll find many at a much cheaper price.
                The eye shadows last a long time too, I use the ones that come free and they've lasted me a long time and keep me going till the next free gift!

                Overall a superb eye shadow that lasts all day and gives a creamy and intense colour. If you're unhappy with your current eye shadow not lasting all day or not giving off enough colour then give this one a try, pop along to your Clinique counter and see for yourself or buy one for cheaper than RRP off eBay.
