So in all fairness, I love clinique products and have tried most of the different lines of make-up anyway, but this was an impulse buy for me. Why? because it is pretty. And I'm sure that's how this blush has found its way into many a make-up bag. This blush is a seasonal product so I can't remember how much I paid for it at the time (no longer on the website) but I can remember thinking it seemed a bit steep for a blusher, even for clinique's average prices. However my 'pretty thing radar' got the better of me when I was on holiday, and impulse buying always seems like a better idea. I was buying a few clinique things anyway and needed a blush, and as it is really pretty, I ended up having to buy it.
Is this the only thing which makes it different though? When I have my practical head on, I think it is really. So the product itself. It is an average size blush made of pressed powder in a plastic box. Prettiness aside, the quality is actually really good. I have tried many blushers and this has by far been one of the best (along with other clinique ones). It comes in different shades, and I have tried two of them: Peony which is pinky and better for paler skin, and a neutral toned one (can't remember by name) which is better for mid-toned skin but which I have used as a bit of a bronzer. Fortunately I only bought the Peony one which I wanted, and got a few mini tester sizes of the next shade.
The flower design has three different tones which are easily blended on your blusher brush. I usually go for a few swirls all over, but depending on the time of year, skin tone, type of look, I suppose you could limit the blusher on your brush, to lighter or darker.
The powder is really nice. It has a bit of a sheen to it, so gives a really nice glow on the cheeks, without looking shiny. But also, it is quite sheer, avoiding the doll or clown appearance. It gives a bit of a lift without looking too done. So if a more natural look is what you want, this product acheives it. After a while, it doesn't make your skin feel tight or dry either. So blusher wise I think this is a great option.
My major drawback, which I was not happy about was actually because of the flower design. After only a few weeks of use, I picked it up one day to find the entire block of pressed powder had decided to break up and disintegrate into a big mess. Especially not good, as I was in a rush and didn't have the time to sort it out or find another blusher. Needless to say, a fair amount was wasted even trying to open up the plastic container carefully. In the end I bought one of those little plastic pots from boots and put all the powder in. I took it back to a clinique stand, but because I had bought it in America (even though it is exactly the same as over here) they said they couldn't do anything or even swap it for me. I still use the powder as it is still great stuff, and i am refusing to waste so much money, but it is a pain. Because it isn't in pressed form now, it does go everywhere, and big clumps are picked up by the brush. Could this be a one off problem though? Had I dropped it and not realised? Probably not. The same thing happened with all of the smaller sample blushers I was given unfortunately.
It seemed ironic to me that the main pull in this product was the appearance, and now it is the most ugly blusher I own: a big powdery mess in a big tub. It does seem a shame and that is why I have to mark it down in comparison with my reviews on other clinique products. It is a great product, but I'm hoping someone at Clinique will have a look at this design flaw.
// CLINIQUE FRESH BLOOM \\
Wow, am I getting the Clinique prices wrong or something? its just so expensive for such a tiny thing..wow!
Anyway, for me I personally find this way to expensive for such a tiny product!
Fresh Bloom comes in a tiny white square plastic container with a clear plastic lid.
The pattern on the powder is brilliant, its so nice and pretty, a few different rosy pink shades decorated into the shape of a flower, it really is eye catching and makes the powder look incredibly expensive and attractive.
On the front of the container is the Clinique logo and on the back is a sticker with some information on the product.
Over all I think this is a cute little container, makes it look really cute and expensive and attracts the eye, if I had of seem this in a store I would of wanted to buy it!
This can be used on all skin types but I find pink shaded powders look a lot better on paler skins.
There are four shades to choose from:
Posy is the one which I had, a nice pink shade! I'm quite pale without the fake tan and darker foundation so I decided to use this without my usual darkness, when I used it with my 'look of darkness' I found it didn't really look right so decided to use it just for my none make up days in the house!
The powder is meant to be long lasting and create a sheer and subtle radiance that looks fresh and dewy. You can either sweep all over the face for a lovely luminous flow or just brush on to your cheek bones to highlight them.
I used this just on my cheek bones with a spare blusher brush I had, the colour went on to the brush quite easily, but I did have to make the brush work with the blush because its so small, I moved it around quite a lot.
When I swept the colour on to my face it didn't go streaky like some blushers/bronzers had done on me in the past, it went on quite sheer as it said it would and did make my cheeks look dewy and it lit up my face. A few hours later and it was still on, didn't seem to fade at all..
Removing it was very easy, it didn't seem to break me out, it felt quite moisturising on my skin even though it was a powder!
I decided to give this away to my friend though after 2 or 3 uses because I don't really think blusher suits me and I only used it around the house, my friend always wore blusher so I thought she may as well have it as she would get a lot more use out of it, when I next seen her I noticed that she was wearing a different blush, her cheeks looked fresh and dewy and she looked much more vibrant, she suited it a lot more than I did and I am glad she got some use out of it.
I recommend you to try this and then see if you like and if it suits you, it looked fabulous on my friend and I know it would on a lot of other girls, great product but not for me!
What first attracted me to this was the gorgeous flower on the front of the actual blush, plus I have always used Clinique and found them to be the best skin care and make up products around.
Clinique is one of the world's leading brands of prestige skin care, makeup and fragrance products and since its launch in 1968, it has developed 100% fragrance free and allergy tested products that have all been dermatologist tested.
It has a clear 3-Step Skin Care System. Cleanse with Facial Soap. Exfoliate with Clarifying Lotion. Moisturise with Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion to meet individual needs.
This comes in Cliniques trademark green cardboard packaging, that is recyclable. The actual blush comes in a plastic see through square tub with a lifting lid that clips into place.
*****Size and price
9g is £ 23.50 and the price per 10 g is £26.11. This can be bought online at Ebay, Boots or Amazon for cheaper and also at the Clinique counter (you can also sometimes get free treats like lip glosses and foundation samples)
Benefits & Application*****
This powder creates a sheer, subtle radiance. It looks fresh and stayson your face. You could sweep over face for a glow or brush on cheekbones to highlight.
Sweep over face, neck and chest for a natural looking glow. Or apply to highlight cheeks.
- Almond Blossom
- Plum Poppy
I have used this for a while now and find it is one of the best blushers on the market. I tend to use it as a blusher on my cheeks, the end of my nose and sometimes on my neck (and cleavage if Im off on a night out!). I especially like it as I use the darker colour for my cheeks and the lighter colour for high lighting my cheeks and also underneath my eye brows so they appear bigger.
I found that it lasted ages and didnt leave any smudges or streaks. It felt light weight on my ace and have even used two of the colour palletes and found them both to suit me.
I also would recommend using a good quality blusher brush if you want an all over colour.
My only negative is that the pallete broke up in my make up bag and ended up all over the place when I opened it.
I bought this product some years ago when it was first launched by Clinique and I must say I am quite happy that it continues coming back every Spring.
Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover Colour is sold as a powder that can be used allover your face and even chest or neck as the name suggests it but I prefer to use it mainly as a blusher.
There are four different shades that you can choose from. I chose the "Peony" one.
This blusher gives you a health glow instantly making your face look fresh and radiant. When my face is looking tired there is nothing better than this blusher to cheer me up.
Also you can use the different shades of the powder separately on your eyelids or nose. The lighter shade is perfect to create highlights. I specially like applying it in the inner corner of my eyes as it make them look brighter and bigger.
Unfortunately this powder is a bit on the expensive side costing around £22.00 but for me it is completely worth it.
Amazing. Buy this now. I am pale skined and bought Peony. It makes me look fresh faced even when I am at my most tired and hung over. Expensive but well worth it. Totally transforms skin! Highly recommended!
