This is one of my make up bag must haves and I'm a sucker for trying new mascara's as I just want to try them all. I was a bit unsure what this one was going to be like as I've never used a mascara with a wand like this before and thought it was going to be difficult to use. I do only use this for the top lashes as I find it a bit more awkward to use on the bottom lashes. the product is good and doesn't get claggy it comes in different colours however I only use black and I think its a great mascara. I use this everyday along with another, not sure why but I've always used 2 mascaras - one after the other. Gives a great effect and great for spreading the lashes apart. I love the Clinique range and also bought a different mascara to try.
I've already reviewed Lancôme's Hypnose, but I bought this mascara before I'd used that one. (No, I'm not sure that it's a good idea to have so many different mascaras, etc, hanging around, but they are unused and unopened until I actually start using them, and then, I discard them after three months. Anyway, I'm a bit obsessive about always having things "in stock" so there we are.)
The first thing to say is that I start with Hay fever quite early in the year - usually around March, although it was late this year - and the only time my eyes don't really water is during the winter months. They don't stream if I use something for the Hay fever, but they do water. I do rub my eyes quite a lot and I wear contact lenses. Thus, I'm quite fussy about my eye make-up, it generally has to be water-proof or it just doesn't stay on. (Some of the ones labelled as water-proof don't stay on!)
So, it was quite something for me to use non-waterproof mascara, but I try to rotate my stash, and this is the oldest one, so thought I had better use it before it dried up. And I am very impressed. I use black mascara because I'm quite fair, so it makes my eyes stand out more, and this one makes them look long and quite full. It stays on really well - I even wore it to my dance class (which is held in a non-air-conditioned room and is stifling in this hot weather) and it stayed on my lashes, rather than being on my cheeks - and believe me, I was sweating! My shirt was soaked! It doesn't smudge down my cheeks either, which is an absolute must for me.
The brush is curved but not too big or thick (I don't like the really big brushes, like the one in Benefit's Bad Gal. That's a personal thing, I know, but I prefer something thinner. I always use about three coats of mascara - I use a primer, but can never really see the first coat. So, I do the upper and lower lashes of one eye, then change over, and repeat straight away until I'm satisfied. I'm not sure whether it's the curling that makes my lashes look so long, but I do like it. Maybe it's the curling bit that makes them look longer... I don't know. (I don't use my eyelash curler every day for work, I just don't have the time, and didn't miss it at all with this.)
It retails at £17.00 for 8ml (compared with Lancôme's £22.00 for 10ml) - that 2.125 per ml for Clinique and 22p per ml for Lancôme, so not much difference in price.
Which do I prefer? Well, I haven't tried the Clinique in the shower (which happened with the Lancôme) and this comes off more easily than the Lancôme. This is difficult to prove unless I try them both on different eyes at the same time, or get someone else to check for me, but I think my lashes look better with the Clinique one.
I have quite a few sample sizes to try, so I will report back.
I love the Clinique range of make up and beauty products. Although they are expensive in my opinion they are extremely well made and work very well for me. I use a number of their products, from the toners to the compacts and lipsticks and the latest product of theirs I have tried and now love is their Clinique high impact curling mascara.
Clinique is one of the world's largest suppliers of prestige makeup and fragrance products. It was launched by Estee Lauder Companies in August 1968. I have always viewed Clinique as an upmarket product and one that is known to have a very good reputation.
I was coming to the end of my Benefit mascara and although I really do like that I also needed to buy some Clinique Clarifying Lotion and got a free gift if I spent over a certain amount so decided to get one of their mascaras. I wear contacts quite a bit of the time and I always manage to get some eye makeup in my eye somehow but was interested to read that this mascara was suitable for contact lens wearers so I decided to give it a go.
I was also intrigued by the curling capabilities of this mascara as this is what it is specifically designed to do. I have quite long eyelashes that always stick out. I do curl then with a curler in the morning when I put my makeup on but sometimes if they are not in a cooperating mood later in the day they will tend to have lost their curl and look and I don't really like how they turn out. So, I thought this might be an interesting way to add a bit more curl to my lashes. I had never used this kind of brush before on a mascara so it took a few days to get used to it. The brush on this mascara is curved and look a lot like the curve of your eye. I have always used straight mascara brushes in the past and so I found it a bit tricky trying to get to all the lashes in the beginning but once you get the hang of this brush it is really simple. I still curl my eyelashes to begin with and then use the brush. THe nice thing is that the brush will then work with the natural curve of your eyelid and eyelashes and coats the eyelashes really well.
Clinique say that this mascara will, help coax lashes to a long, bold, upturned look, without a pinch, pull or tug. The smudge, flake, smear-resistant formula holds for up to 24 eye-opening hours. I definitely feel no tugging when I apply this mascara. It covers well and does not leave any clumps. I never put too much not he brush int he first place for it to clump as I always clean the brush off at the top to stop too much product getting on my eyes in the first place. I suppose I did notice that my eyelashes were lifted up a little bit and fanned out a bit more than usual and overall I was pleased with the results I got.
I bought the mascara in black as that's the only colour I use. A 8ml tube costs £15 which is somewhat expensive but if you compare that to say a mascara from Benefit or another one of the good makeup brand ranges it is not too expensive. The mascara comes in a shiny silver container and looks very sleek in your make up bag.
Apparently it is ophthalmologist tested so it is safe for eyes to which is an important consideration although you should still change your make up every few months as after that you can get infections from make up that is too old and has been opened for too long.
One I recommend!
This is my only Clinique product I own because being a student I cannot afford too many luxury products to buy for myself. My mum usually gives me gifts of luxury brands that she buys but she strangely does not like Clinique, I think its because the ladies in the white coats at the counters scare her.
This mascara in comparison to the trashy high street brands that I am used to buying when younger is good value. I usually buy a mascara from superdrug for about £10 and this is only £5 more and it feels a whole lot better for my eyelashes.
The packaging is nicer that the plastic form stuff that I am used to, the shiny tube is classy and stands out from all the toot in my make up bag. The mascara wand is attached to the lid as in normal except the wand is significantly curved and slightly thinner at the end, to mimic the normal growth pattern of a persons eyelashes.
I always opt for black mascara as nothing else shows up on dark lashes but it does come in brown too for the fairer lashed lass.
The formula does not feel sticky, does not clump or smudge. It dries very quickly so great for that morning rush before work and it does have staying power. It does not run in the rain but if you are having a good cry... well game over. It will run unfortunately.
I would recommend this product as not everyone cries all the time and if you don't cry the product will stay and keep your lashes lengthened for a good period of time and it is easy to reapply over the lashes that are dry and will not clump over those either, and infact lengthen them more. Go as far as you dare!
I bought this mascara from John Lewis with a voucher that I had, it cost £15, which I think is pretty steep for a mascara, but by no means the most expensive I have ever bought.
It comes in a lovely sleek silver tube, the wand is curved (as you can see in the picture) and this helps to curl you eyelashes. I however tend to use eyelash curlers as well as mascara and didn't think that this used alone had the same effect.
The mascara itself was a nice consistency and went on without any gloops or blobs and I didn't look like I had spider eyes. It didn't irritate my eyes (as a contact lense wearer I have to be careful of such things) and I didn't get smudgy panda eyes either which is always a bonus.
The only problem I had with this mascara is that it took quite a lot of effort to get it off at the end of the day. Rubbing the eye-makeup removed over my eyes didn't exactly do the any good, so I'll have to get a better eye makeup remover as I really like this mascara.
I recently had a bit of a splurge on Clinique products as I had a Debenhams gift voucher to use and needed to update my make up bag anyway. Mascara is a product I genuinely dislike as I am awful at applying it and tend to find it very difficult to get right. I am also always disappointed at how quickly the wands become sticky and hard to use, I cannot remember the last time I used a mascara right to the end of the vial without the applicator becoming so unwieldy I have given up.
So, you could say I am a bit of a cynic about mascara. It is very unusual for me to spend so much on one - an 8ml, standard size of this particular mascara is around the £15 mark. However, I was completely convinced by the nice lady on the Clinique counter that this mascara was different. So far, she seems to have been telling the truth!
There are two main reasons why I really do like this product. The first is that the wand is curved in a really delicate arc that makes it very easy to reach all your eyelashes in one stroke. This, for me, means it is very easy to apply and seems to be one of the best designs of applicator I have ever seen. The applicator feels high quality and the individual bristles do not seem to clump at all. I have been using it almost daily now for nearly a month and no clumps at all! Remarkable!
The second reason I love it is that it DOES NOT MOVE once applied. Almost to the extent that you need hardcore remover to get it off. I have cried in it, carelessly rubbed my eyes (and I wear contact lenses so this is a big deal for me) and been absolutely drenched in one of our delightful and unexpected summer showers - and none of these things have affected the mascara in the slightest. I am always quite amazed at how much it still looks intact at the end of a busy and very long day.
Ironically this last point would also be my only teeny tiny criticism of the product, sometimes my eyes are rather red from all the scrubbing after removing this. But then if you want a mascara that absolutely stays put you cannot have it both ways.
Overall, this is a great buy in my opinion. It is unusual for me to totally endorse such an expensive product (being a proper skinflint when it comes to make up) but in the case of this item, I do believe it is worth the investment for the quality.
I have a thing for a few different brands, Clinique being one of them, but as I'm a student and not working four days a week as I used to at college it's not something I can indulge in too often anymore. I received Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara in my Christmas stocking which my Mum fills with goodies she and my Dad have bought me. I've had a look online and the mascara sells for £15 at places like Debenhams, House of Fraser and Selfridges and that's about as cheap as it comes. I don't think it's that bad of a price as I usually buy mascara from Boots where a Loreal of Max Factor mascara which are usually rubbish are about £12.
The packaging for the mascara is lovely, it's a shiny silver 8ml tube which is classy not tacky and certainly stands out in my make-up bag. The Clinique logo is clearly visible in black and the silver lid screws off to reveal the application wand attached to the lid. The wand is curved which allows it to follow the curve of your lashes and apply the mascara better.
I opted for the black colour as my lashes are really dark anyway and I'd just always choose black, it is available in a black brown too but these are the only colours I'm aware of. The application process is really simple, because of the curved brush all of your eyelashes get coated evenly and in one go from corner to corner. Although the colour is very bold the mascara looks very natural whilst lengthening my lashes and making them full of volume. The mascara stays on well; it doesn't smudge or smear and dries quickly making it easy to apply a second coat or just perfect for a quick application. I've found after an application in the morning my mascara is still going strong well into the afternoon and early evening. The mascara doesn't run in rain but only needs a bit of warm water on a cotton wool pad to remove.
I would definitely recommend Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara, it's a reasonable price for a high quality product that is much, much more worth the money than the slightly cheaper brands. The mascara stays in place all day meaning it doesn't need to wasted by re-applying time and time again, it isn't waterproof but doesn't run in the rain and comes off easily with no sore eyes from rubbing it off.
I had used other Clinique mascaras in the past but they had come as free gifts with magazines or I had been given them, and they had been really good quality products. I have quite long eyelashes anyway and wanted a mascara that would open up my eyes rather than give the appearance of longer lashes. Usually I would spend up to £10 on a mascara but I decided to spend a little bit more on the High Impact Curling Mascara.
I bought mine in black but it also comes in brown for a more understated look but I prefer smokey eyes. It comes in a 8ml tube and I paid £15 from the Clinique counter. The packaging is obviously more high end, the product comes in a thick silver tube and the brush is a good size. The mascara wand is curved and is big enough to give full coverage.
Application is very easy. The curve in the brush makes it really easy to apply and makes it easy to reach the corner of your eye to cover all lashes. This gives fuller and longer looking lashes, it surprised me how natural this looked. Without a doubt, it definitely opens up my eyes and gives a curl to my lashes. I find that I only have to apply once in the morning and it lasts me all day, I only re apply if going out in the evening.
I have to note that this is great for sensitive eyes and perfect for contact lense wearers.
To remove, I soak a cotton wool pad in eye make up remover and hold it on my lashes for 15-20 seconds, I then find that the mascara just wipes offs. Although it doesn't claim to be waterproof, I've showered and een swimming with this on and it has only slightly run.
Personally I think this is a great mascara, it is smudge proof and has great staying power. I would and have recommended this product and will drefinitely buy it again myself, it is worth paying just a little bit more for a quality product
Upon disappointment on another clinique mascara I was a little dubious of purchasing another but as all the other Clinique products I had used had been very good quality I decided that I would purchase one in the faith that they have brilliant cosmetics. That is when I came across this super curl mascara that I thought would be perfect to give my eyes the look I desired. It comes in a range of colours I chose brown for a more subtle look.
It comes in an 8 ml tube which cost me £15.It looks stylish in a tall thick silver tube which is great as I find thicker application handles tend to be a lot comfier to use as long as the brush is a nice size. You screw of the lid to reveal the mascara wand which is small but big enough to give full lashes. It has a definite arch to it to help aid the curve of the lashes.
The brush itself flows very well on your lash's the curve of the brush glides along naturally with the curve in the flash helping to give them a nice curl. While doing this it makes the lashes very full and gives a gentle but at the same time aggressive bold look to the lashes. It is very easy to apply to the side and bottom lashes as the application brush it small enough in the corners to easily reach these.
The finished effect of my lashes are full noticeable curl in them and definitely a winner. This is now my favourite mascara and follows me around everywhere. This is not really needed as when I apply the mascara in early hours of the morning before work I find that even running around all day and looking after 3 small children it is still working all day and there is no need for re applying it.
To remove it is very easy just a bit of make up remover and pat gently on the eyelashes and it comes right off. Although it does not boast to be waterproof I have been swimming after applying this mascara and although it was not perfect and there was a slight run from it the result was very minimal and after the black from under the eyes is removed the mascara still looked good on my lashes so I do not think there would be a problem with getting caught in the rain.
I would recommend this product to anyone it gives a full on look but lasts all day definitely another winner from Clinique and will remain one of my favourites. The small yet wide brush with a curve makes it so easy to apply to all arrears of your eyelashes which I do not find with many mascara's.
This High Impact Curling Mascara from Clinique will set you back around the £15 mark, I got lucky and only paid £10.99 for mine but that was because I had a £5 discount voucher. Despite the slightly high price tag this is certainly a product that I would recommend as it is a great black mascara that looks great and is easy to use.
It comes in a long silver tube, it is a simple sleek design that is very stylish and certainly helps to create the right impression of a quality product. The brush has a really nice easy to hold handle and the curved design of the brush really does help when it comes to applying the mascara. You only want to apply a little at a time as this is a good quality product. The brush is just the right length to make it easy to use and I find I can often apply the mascara in a single upward stroke that really gives my eye lashes a nice upward curl and lift.
For me this mascara certainly makes my lashes look fuller and longer and helps to accentuate my brown eyes which I reckon are one of my best features or so others have told me. I have also found this mascara from Clinique to be long lasting and does not run at all. It dries really quickly so there is no waiting around and you can vary the look depending on how many layers you choose to apply, personally i find a little is the best look for me.
It does take a bit of effort to remove it at the end of the night however given the quiality of the mascara that does not surprise me at all. Definately a product that I would recommend.
I have been using this Mascara for about 2 months and although it isn't the most amazing Mascara in the world, it is still a pretty good one.
This wasn't all that cheap. This 8ml Mascara cost me £13, but this is a designer brand after all, and the price for it is the same as any other designer brand. I don't have long Eye Lashes and they are kinda boring just sitting there all Stubby, so i'm still on the lookout for some wonder product that will make them look glossy and nice. I believe you can get this in a black/brown colour, but I got my usual Black colour.
The tube look like the picture. Nice and shiny silver. I think this makes it look a bit expensive (then again it is expensive), but makes a change from the black tubes that you tend to get. When you look at the wand and the Bristles part you will see that this has a bit shape to it. A big enough curve, but this shape means that it sort of shapes to your Lashes and with only 1 sweep you should get a good even coverage. Although the Bristles are firm, they aren't as hard as other Wands that i've used, and they seem to flex a little as you move this through your Lashes, which gives a good enough coverage anyway.
I find that 1 coat of this does the job, but if you want to apply another coat then this dries in just a minute of 2. On the odd occassion I have applied another Coat it doesn't go clumpy or sticky.
So how does this make my Lashes look? They look nice enough. The black is a rich jet black colour and looks glossy and a nice sheen on my Lashes. They appear to be coated heavy, but not really thick or that, just a good covering of this. This also curves the ends of the Lashes up slightly, which gives the illusion of longer Lashes I think. I guess this is achieved by the shape of the Bristles on the Wand.
I would recommend this for a good Mascara. It does a good job and if you did have a bit cash to splash then this would make a worthwhile buy.
This High Impact Curling Mascara is another Clinique product that I'm more than happy to recommend as it is a good product that really lasts and certainly makes my lashes look fuller and more prominent whenever I use it. I bought this product online for £14.99 which is a pretty good price especially as it was part of a big order and I did not have any post and packaging to pay.
The mascara is in a long silver tube which is nice and stylish without going over the top. I really like the design of the brush, for me it is just the right length and the curled effect makes it easy to apply the make up in a single stroke that lifts up your eye lashes to great effect. It is easy to apply the mascara a little at a time and to build up the layers so that the end look is consistent and does not leave your lashes clumped together
This is a great black mascara that really does help to define your eyes and make your lashes look that little bit longer and fuller. I have also found it to be very resilient and long lasting which is a good thing especially if you are having a very active night out, the last thing you want is this running everywhere or losing hold. It is quick drying and while it does last a long time I have also found it to be pretty easy to remove at the end of the night.
At the right price this is a great product and it does pay to shop around or stick up when it is on offer. For me it is a good mascara that lasts a long time and improves the look of my lashes significantly and that is why I'm happy to recommend it to all you Dooyoo readers.
I bought this Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara from Debenhams and it cost £13.50. I bought the mascara in black but it is also available to buy in a black/brown colour. I opened the two sample mascaras on display at the Clinique Counter at Debenhams and I honestly could not see any difference between the black colour and the brown/black colour. In the end I just decided to just stick with my usual black shade.
The mascara comes in a very classy looking silver case. The case is made from plastic which can be recycled after use. To get to the mascara you just twist of the lid, the lid contains the brush. The brush is made up of lots of tiny plastic bristles and it is curved in shape. The bristles are soft and smooth, they are not at all harsh or rough.
The mascara applies well. It is a very rich and thick textured mascara. There is no fragrance at all with this mascara. I apply two coats of the mascara to my eyelids. I experience no clumping at all with this mascara even while wearing two coats of the mascara. I am happy with the results. My eyelashes look much richer in colour and much fuller, they are glossy and look much longer than before I applied the mascara.
The mascara looks good, it is not a magical curling mascara, really this mascara just enhances the tips of your eyelashes with a slight curled effect and this is down to the curved mascara brush. The brush helps to curl and coax your lashes so they look upturned. I have used normal Clinique High Impact Mascara and you get all the same effect as this Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara except the curled, upturned eyelash effect. They are both very good and very effective mascaras.
This mascara is ophthalmologist tested and suitable for contact lense wearers. This mascara is not waterproof. it is very easily removed with cotton pads and warm water and also with eye make-up remover.
All in all I like this mascara. It does have a slightly curling effect and it does make my eyelashes look much more defined, thicker and fuller. It applies really easily with the brush and it is very easy to remove at the end of the day.
It is long lasting and this one full size 8ml tube has lasted me nearly 3 months. This is a really lovely mascara from Clinique. I highly recommend it.
I llike to wear mascara to enhance my eye lashes as I don't always wear eye shadow yet want my eyes to stand out and this Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara is really good at getting the good looking results I am after in a mascara.
I buy most of my beauty products online to save me trapesing around the shops so things get delivered to the door but the down side is you have to pay postage.
I paid £15 from the clinique.co.uk site where I was then eligable for two free samples of my choice with my order. I chose, Repairwear Lift Day Cream Normal 7ml Sample and Youth Surge SPF 15 Dry Combination 7 ml which I'm sure I will review at some point or other seperately.
I also paid £3.95 for postage for a standard delivery which takes two to three days, so far I have ordered other things as well seperately and like this order they have been on time so I am happy to pay for buying online.
This mascara came in the alloted time scale, the tube of the mascara is a nice sleek silver colour that looks very stylish and good quality. I like taking it out of my make-up bag at clubs when re-applying or touching my eyes up as it looks expensive, but really it's along side the price range of other leading brands of mascara.
The brush inside is thick and curled so that you can smooth it over the shape of your eyelashes easily without worrying about getting it all over.
You just need a little mascara which is picked up on the end of the brush everytime you push the lid on and pull it out. Smoothing the mascara casrefully onto the upper and lower lashes and building up the layers gives a good stand out impression of your lashes to enhance the colour and shape of your eyes.
You can get the mascara in brown/black and black. I always go for black as it gives a more dramatic look.
This drys quickly so your not left with smudges on your face and you don't need to re applied during the day if your going out in the evening as it is long lasting, a touch up will do. I always have to be careful not to rub the eyes when I'm wearing mascara as I always forget I have it on, sometimes smudging it off and having to re apply but this one is good as it doesn't smudge or wear off it's long lasting .
It removes quickly with make up remover on a cotton ball and a little goes a long way you don't need loads of layers as it goes on nice and thick to enhance the lashes.
I'm happy to recommend this to you if your looking for a good durable mascara at a good price.
I'm lucky that I have naturally decent eyelashes, they're not amazing (my sis got those!) but are pretty long with a natural curl. This means I can get away without mascara on a day-to-day basis, but I can really go to town on my eye make-up for a night out. Clinique's High Impact Curling Mascara is a really good mascara to use, although I find it difficult sometimes to build up the layers in order to get a sexily dramatic look.
I have the mascara in black, but it's also available in brown/black for a more natural effect.
The mascara is supplied in a silver tube, the Clinique logo and details of the product are in an understated black type. It looks good, just the sort of packaging that I like having in my make-up bag!
I do think this is a great mascara, the curved brush makes it a simple job to follow my eyeline and by using the very tip of the brush means I can catch even the very tiny lashes at the corners of my eyes. The colour goes on smoothly with no clumping, the curling effect in my case is negligible but as 'just a mascara' it's great.
To be fair it's more than 'just a mascara'. The colour is rich and glossy; you'll never suffer with spider lashes after using it as the brush separates them nicely, I'm not sure if this is a side-effect of the curling brush but it's great however it comes about! I think it probably is something to do with the shape of the brush actually as while applying my mascara this morning I watched the brush pull my lashes naturally in an outwards direction, sounds weird even to me but that's the best way I can come up with to describe it!
As I mentioned, I don't find it a very reliable mascara if I'm looking to build up thicker than average layers. This is a shame as I love the glossiness of this High Impact mascara but will always end up having to top up the layers with Maybelline, and therefore lose some of the gloss effect. The problem is simply that if you try to coat this mascara too thickly on your lashes you'll just end up with a very amateurish looking finish.
One brilliant thing about it is that this is the easiest mascara on the planet to remove. It's as quick as soaking a cotton wool ball in warm water and giving each eye a few wipes. This is surprisingly effective too as the next morning there are never any tell tale smudges underneath my eyes to show up my shoddy cleansing routine! Obviously this means the mascara isn't waterproof in the slightest, this doesn't matter to me as I don't swim and it's rare you'll find me out in the rain - just bear it in mind if you need something a bit more resistant to the elements.
The mascara does last quite well; better during daytime wear if I'm honest, but I never look at it as anything other than a daytime mascara anyway. It's the sort of product I'd wear for a meal out rather than when we're pubbing/clubbing it as I like to make more of a statement with my make-up then.
For me this is a premium product and worth the £15 price tag, but only really as a regular everyday mascara. The 'High Impact' claim isn't really accurate as while it separates my lashes nicely and evenly colours them, there's no lengthening or added volume which doesn't exactly create an impact on me! The curling aspect isn't the best either, I sometimes use an eyelash curler and can definitely say that's much more effective than relying on this mascara. I don't particularly look for my eyelashes to curl so this isn't a problem for me, but if you feel you need a bit of extra help in this respect just don't expect miracles from Clinique!
I'll buy it again though. Definitely. I don't have much time to myself these days; I've always been proud of my ability to have ME-TIME, but baby number four is the one that finally broke the camels back - now you're more likely to hear me asking what me-time even is! So my days of spending an hour just faffing with my make-up are over, I'm a grown up now and looking for beauty products that will save me time. And the High Impact Curling Mascara does save time. The brush is so nice to use that I can whizz through mascara application without it looking (too) rushed, while the consistency of the product also helps with speedy application as the colour glides on so smoothly and evenly.
Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara / Helps coax lashes to a long / bold / upturned look / without a pinch / pull or tug / Smudge / flake / smear-resistant formula holds for up to 24 eye-opening hours / Ophthalmologist tested / Appropriate for contact lens wearers / too /
