I had a mini makeover at the Clinique counter as I was looking to buy some new make up and upgrade from the cheaper stuff I usually use. I don't wear a lot of make up so was recommended to try the perfectly real foundation as it isn't heavy and gives a lovely even coverage. I am very impressed by this product as it never looks like I am wearing lots of make up but does cover up blemishes and give me an even skin tone. It is also quite matt so although I do use a pressed powder with it, I don't have to. I am especially a fan of the colour palette as I have very pale skin and some foundations tend to make my skin look quite orange in the winter but this matches my skin tone perfectly.
I am also impressed by how long this product has lasted, a little goes a long way and it has lasted a good few months. I would highly recommend this product for those that want a light cover foundation.
The Clinique 'Perfectly Real' makeup, as the name suggests, is the makeup that gives you a perfectly smooth feeling without spoiling the natural tone of your skin. This is one of the rare instances where the product delivers its description.
This liquid foundation is my first and best purchase from a Clinique counter. It's oil-free and available in a variety of shades, which is perfect for me considering I have quite an oily skin. The one I use is shade 08 and I have been using this for over 3 years without any problems at all.
One of reasons why I love this product is that it gives a light-weight feeling with good coverage. Even in my 20s, I still have spots here and there and the foundation does hide them quite well. Also I have a sweaty nasal area and the makeup covers it without clogging the pores. However, using it on its own dry my skin a bit so I always apply a thin layer of facial lotion (non-oily) so it balances the dryness out. Stays strong all day long (especially on days when I'm working for 12 hrs straight).
Overall, I am very pleased with this makeup and will continue to use it. The price has increased by about £3.00 since I first bought it (last time, it costs £22.00) but it has been worth it. Highly recommended.

Up for review we have Clinique's foundation in the range "Prefectly Real". This is a foundation which I have used for a number of years. Having gone through a variety of high street make up brands, I evenually settled on this, and have never thought of changing since. But here's a bit more about the product before I elaborate!
*What Clinique has to say*
"Perfectly Real Makeup is a weightless foundation that provides the perfect match and a natural finish. Skin looks real but better. More even, perfected, healthy. It neutralizes redness, ruddiness and imperfections with just enough coverage that feels weightless on skin.
Skin Types: 2 - Dry Combination, 3 - Oily
Benefits: Long wearing, Natural skin-perfecting look, Mineral enriched, Full coverage"
*What I have to say*
There are a whole variety of shades, from the very fair to the darker skin tones, which are easily checked online or availble to test at most larger stores. The great thing is you can also get colour tested at most Clinique counters by their staff. (They can also advise if this is the best type of foundation for your skin if you are unsure).
-The foundation itself is lightweight and not particularly fragranced. A little goes a long way. I always apply mine with my finger tips for ultimate blending but this is a personal preference which I doubt affects the foundation coverage greatly. Despite being lightweight and easy to blend this foundation is surprisingly good at covering blemishes in concentrated amounts. Providing you have the right colour for your skin, this is not a foundation which (even spread thickly) leaves you looking like you are slightly tango-ed and overly made-up. Somehow it manages to cover my occasional blemishes and even my skintone, but yet I can still just about see my light sprinkling of freckles. I always used to buy expensive light-reflecting hilighter/concealer but soon found that just a little extra of this foundation concentrated under my eyes meant I did not need it. I would query however whether someone wanting particularly heavy coverage - for covering birth marks etc would find the coverage thick enough.
-For those of you who go so far as thinking about blusher, this foundation also has a very very subtle light reflecting sparkle to it. If you are not keen on wearing blusher, this will give you just enough tint on your cheeks to catch the light without any extra blush.
-As far as the feeling, it is indeed lightweight. I wear a powder on top (although this isn't necessary) but even then I do not FEEL as though I am wearing any make up. What's more - when I remove my make up my skin feels lovely, much better than it did when I used to wear other foundations which clogged my pores and dried my skin. Clinique says it is 'mineral enriched' and you can believe it. Its like an added extra - it feels great while you wear it and seems to be great for your skin should you choose not to wear it!
-As far as the length of wearing goes, I wear mine all day every day. Occasionally I have to touch up with a bit of powder as my t-zone can get oily, but I cannot fault the actual coverage. If you wish to top up though, there is no need to remove everything and re-apply - I sometimes add a little extra before going for a night out and in no way does this cake the foundation or look over-done.
Each tube of Perfectly Real make up comes boxed in clinique's floral-type patterned box - which I imagine most people will just discard. The foundation itself is packaged in a plastic container with a screw-on cap/bottom which is a shiny silver. The tube, with cap removed, has a small nozzle out of which to squeeze your foundation. I find this a good design which enables you to squeeze just the right amount out, without it all pouring all over the place!
Anyone who has ever looked at Clinique prices will know it is not nearly as cheap as other brands of make up which one can purchase. Equally there are of course considerably more expensive brands! Prices for this foundation seem to be at around the £18 to £22 mark. I would recommend buying from the stores that offer Beauty Product reward card schemes and offer 'Clinique Bonus Time' in order to get more for your money (Bonus Time usually involves buying two products and getting a bundle of travel-sized products absolutely free!)
It is very rare that one finds the marketing points of a product really live up to expectations, but this really does do what the first paragraph of my "What Clinique has to say" says. You know those women who just look naturally pretty and as though they aren't wearing a spot of make up - I bet they are wearing this!
Whether or not this would be suitable for acne sufferers - I cannot say. I would imagine that the minerals would be good for your skin, rather than caking your skin in thick heavy foundation, but if in doubt I would consult a Clinique adviser at the counter - which you can do for free at most places!
Name of the product I will be reviewing: "Clinique perfectly real make-up"
This is £18.50 for 30ml; it might sound expensive for some people, and cheap for others.
Usually people buy from drug stores and so they kind of get used to the low prices, but for someone who doesn't buy in drug stores they would probley find this a reasonable price as clinique is well known for its beauty products.
- Shades available -
Clinique offer a large number of shades, this is useful to buyers as you are bound to find the perfect shade for your skin.
- What the manufacturers say / what the product offers-
Perfectly Real Makeup is a weightless foundation that provides the perfect match and a natural finish. Skin looks real but better. More even, perfected, healthy. It neutralizes redness, ruddiness and imperfections with just enough coverage that feels weightless on skin.
Self-Adjusting Coverage and Colour: balances uneven skin tone for a uniform perfected complexion while sensing skin's undertones to be skin's exact match via advanced micro-pigment technology. Weightless Formula: ultra lightweight formula feels like nothing on skin. Skin Looks Natural, but Perfected: technologically advanced formula provides just enough perfecting coverage so skin looks naturally flawless in any light with "auto-focus technology".
~ Packaging ~
The packaging isn't too bad, I've seen a lost worse, the foundation is packed in a brown container with a shiny black lid, and I would have preferred the foundation to be in a glass bottle, so I could see how much foundation I have used, so I know when to top up again.
~ Application ~
Wipe the sponge onto the foundation and then apply directly to your face. However, this is not as easy as it sounds as it's easy to apply unevenly, particularly around the eyes, mouth and nostrils, so make sure you check your work before doing the rest of your makeup.
~ The Look ~
When I first applied the foundation, I really liked the results, if you have acne or any other skin condition I wouldn't recommend this product as it's very much a lightweight base, on the country, it is okay for people who have slight redness to their skin.
~ Long-lasting effects of the foundation ~
This foundation when first applied offered a lightweight, even coverage. After a few hours of using the foundation, my skin didn't look as good as when I first applied it, it looked quiet dry and not as flawless.
- My Verdict -
The foundation looks good; it's defiantly not caked and blends in perfectly on my skin.
I recommend it to people who don't have spotty skin, and just want a foundation to make their skin look more radiant.
