“ Brand: Clinique / Type: Lip Treatment / Subcategory: Balm / Suitable for: Lip / What it does: regenerates, „
I love this stuff, put simply. Fair enough it is quite pricey in comparison to other lip glosses on the market, but this is the best one in my opinion and so worth the price.
It comes in a variety of colours, I have used grape and watermelon. In the tube, they look quite like the sort of colours you would find in a little girl's first make up kit, but because the glosses are just tinted, the colours are not that scary when actually used. They give what the tube says, a slight tint, great for the day to day, natural look.
The gloss itself is really smooth and glides on easily. Because it is moisturising, it doesn't dry out, feel tight, or sticky. And I find it lasts for quite a while, despite eating and drinking.
It comes in a squeezy tube with a screw on lid, so no accidents in the bottom of your handbag. When the top is off, the applicator is on the end of the tube and is shaped like a lipstick - on an angle, great for applying. You just have to squeeze a little out which comes through a tube onto the end of the applicator, and the gloss glides on.
Clinique superbalm tinted lip treatment
My husband is forever hanging his head in dismay when he has to retrieve something from one of my handbags and gets a small glimpse of how many lip glosses and lip balms I own. I can always justify buying yet another new lip gloss, I dread the day he actually finds out the exact number I own. This Clinique superbalm is one of my all time favourites, the people over at Clinique have combined everything that is good about a gloss and a balm together, making something that suits most occasions. In my opinion this superbalm is great for use in the summer and the winter, through the day and as part of your evening make-up wear.
--The lip gloss/lip balm--
There are eight shades available to purchase and all of them are really quite nice pinky or red tones; Apricot, raspberry, mango, root beer, lilac, ginger, currant and grape fruit. Personally, I own the currant colour, which is one of the darkest shades but the lip gloss is still only provides a hint of colour. Mostly it provides a sheer glossy coverage, I find that the slight tint doesn't provide a strong colour to my lips but a healthy look, accentuating what you already have.
Overall, this balm manages to make you look gorgeous while pampering your lips. If you have cracked, sore or dry lips then this works wonders. If you don't then this still works wonders as a great gloss. It is a bit thicker than other glosses but I find that it lasts longer. I apply this and unless I eat, drink, or do any of the other things that cause you to re-apply a lip gloss, then this superbalm will stay looking good for quite a while.
I paid £12 for a 15ml tube, I use mine quite often and I find that it does last. I bought my last one three months ago and there is still plenty left. I like this product so much that the £12 price tag doesn't put me off or make me think twice about handing over my credit card for a shiny new renewal when mine runs out.
--My overall opinion--
I am going to award this superbalm five out of five stars, but I think that it deserves much more. I have and do recommend that people should try this. Out of my shamefully vast array of lip glosses and lip balms this is probably the pick of the litter. It really does the job of both a balm and a gloss making it ideal for anyone (who like me) suffers from dry, sore lips and still wants to look fabulous.

The packaging is nice, high quality looking and also has a quality feel to it which you would expect for this sort of money. It's a clear plastic squeezy tube with a silver screw on lid. The end of the tube has a simple applicator which is a slanted edge with a hole in for the product to come through, so you just squeeze a little out and apply straight to the lips.
It's really easy to use and you don't need to faff about with a mirror as it's easy to control. It glides smoothly over the lips leaving behind a layer of gloss which feels instantly soothing. you do have to be very careful about how much you use because the texture of the gloss is really thick and if you use too much your lips will just end up feeling really greasy and heavy.
Using just a small amount of the gloss makes my lips feel soft, smooth and intensely hydrated, and it does provide a protective layer or barrier against the elements. It does feel really lovely on, just so long as you remember not to use too much, and with regular use it really helps to improve the condition of the lips.
The gloss looks great, obviously the exact finish will depend on the colour you choose, but it's a nice high-shine gloss, without being over the top or wet-look. The colour is quite sheer and natural, nothing too bold, and works really well either for a barely there daytime look or with 'wow' eyes for nighttime glam.
Like most glosses it does need to be reapplied at least every couple of hours to maintain the look. The tube lasts a surprisingly long time so although it seems expensive at first glance, it actually works out to be pretty good value.
All in all this is a great balm and gloss combined.
Thumbs up from me
I must have tried dozens of lip balms and lip glosses but this is still my favourite. I use this in Mango, but have also used the Raspberry one which is also lovely. Each colour is slightly tinted, but doesn't really colour your lips at all.
This superbalm is slightly thicker than a standard gloss. It looks stunning- like a really glossy lip gloss but it feels like a balm. This product really moisturises your lips, leaving them feeling soft and smooth.
This recent cold weather and the heavy use of central heating has left my lips feeling very dry and uncomfortable, but the moment I apply superbalm my lips feel calmed and soft again. The balm also contains anti-oxidants to protect your lips from environmental nasties.
This superbalm costs £11, which isn't exactly cheap for a lip balm, but a tube does last a long time. It also tastes and smells wonderful! The tube that is shown in the picture on here is actually the older style tube- the new one is almost twice the size at 10ml (and it is the new, bigger one which costs just under £11). I always try and stock up on this when Clinique bonus time is on as this makes it even better value for money.
