Advantages: Some nice shades, not too dear, good colour pay off

Disadvantages: Messy to apply, not good quality if you are used to better things

Ages ago I had bought a purple glitter eyeliner by Urban Decay, and had a lilac Barry M Dazzle dust, but didn't have a dark purple shade for contouring. I don't remember exactly why, but I was limited to going to Tesco to solve my problem. I saw the Collection 2000 Dazzle Me pots, which were considerably larger than the Barry M Dazzle Dust pots and only £2.99. There was a dark purple shade, so I purchased it.

I was actually very disappointed in it. I didn't exactly have Collection 2000 held up high in my expectations at this point anyhow, and this just confirmed it as being rubbish, in my eyes. It didn't seem very good quality, it wasn't highly pigmented, didn't apply smoothly, and just seemed very poor quality.

It quickly became confined to my "rubbish make up" bag. This is a bag that contains things I am most likely to never use again but can't throw away just in case. I mean, if I was desperate for a deep purple, I would still use this colour, but I really didn't like it.

Then just recently I was in Tesco again, quickly choosing myself some things my daughter could give me as a birthday present, and I was after a silvery/grey shade for with my new party dress for the birthday celebrations that weekend. Up and down I walked, trying lines of every grey/silver colour in the shop on lines along my hand. I tried everything they had; Borjious, Maybelline, Max Factor, L'Oreal, Rimmel and Babara Daly. I tried this colour of the Dazzle Me range by Collection 2000 despite having a bit of a hate towards the range due the rubbishy purple I already owned. To my utter surprise, this came out better than everything else on my hand. It had good pigmentation, a nice shimmery look to it, and was a lovely deep silvery grey shade. I still hesitated for a long time as I couldn't quite believe I liked it, but I couldn't deny the facts of my now very silvery hand, and headed to the till with this in hand.

The next day I tried it on my eyes. I applied it over a Collection 2000 silver eye crayon which I bought at the same time. Applying it with a brush to the eye I found that it was still not brilliant quality for applying. It was very powdery. I know this may sound silly but for those who are used to Barry M Dazzle Dusts, MAC pigments and the like, these don't apply the same like you would think. As you are brushing it on powder literally goes everywhere, it doesn't seem to adhere to the eye very well but rather just pouf every where. There is a lot of fall out no matter how hard you try to apply it carefully.

I tried mixing with mixing medium to make a paint/paste like with some products, this gives a smoother finish and a paint like consistency for applying which is great. Unfortunately it didn't really work, the powder just clumped together into small balls, and when applied, still did the whole powdery puffy thing.

That said the colour that was applied to the eye was really nice, pigmented, and looked nice like on my hand. It seemed to apply much better however on my hand simply using my finger, so it may be better to just smooth this on with your finger if you are covering the entire lid, but if you are doing something more precise then I found it wasn't brilliant to apply with a brush, but it wasn't entirely awful either. Yes powder seemed to be literally puffing out of my face as I was applying it, but it wasn't actually difficult to apply as in getting it in the right place and getting it to look good. I would suggest doing this before your face make up, and cleaning up the rest of your face with a wipe once you are done, and before you apply your foundation etc as this is likely to go all over your face!

These aren't brilliant to be honest, and for the price, you can get better products at not much dearer (Barry M, Sleek etc) but if you are in need of a particular shade, there is some good shades here and the colour pay off with this one was good.

Like with the glitter eyeliners, there seems to be inconsistency across the range. Despite it's flaws, I really like this shade (I think it is called Angelic) but I completely hated my purple shade, and I'm sure there is everything in between quality wise amongst the different shades. All I can suggest is trying them on your hands. I'm not sure why there is such a vast range in quality amongst the different shades of the same products with Collection 2000, it is very hit and miss, but for every bad product there is a good one, so if you're willing to test them out and give it a shot then you could end up very happy with your purchase, but just be prepared that you could be disappointed.

As for whether I recommend them? I'm not so sure really, I wont be telling you all to rush out and buy them, but nor will I be telling you to steer clear. It's hard to form an opinion here, if it was based on the purple one I'd urge you all to run a mile, but based on the silver shade I would say why not give it a go, the colour pay off is good and it's a lovely shade, better than all those other brands I mentioned. You can however tell it isn't a quality product when applying it but it will do for some purposes and does look good once on.

Summary: They're okay but not brilliant!

I have the bluey/green one of these - it's a great colour but it goes everywhere! Not necessarily good for a cream carpet either, lol! Fab review : ) Eleanor x
