Advantages: A little goes a long way

Disadvantages: Messy

This is a review of a dazzle dust I have from Collection 2000 in the shade Mystery which is a deep blue green colour. I don't usually buy Collection 2000 make up, well not since I was about 13 when I used to use their concealer sticks!

Why Mystery?
The dazzle dust comes in a huge range of colours and I picked Mystery particularly as I wanted to try it as a nail polish (my new hobby!) by mixing it with clear. For the purposes of this review I have also tried it as a wet and dry eye shadow.

Price paid
I paid only £1 for my pot of dazzle dust, which is a great price, I'm not exactly sure how much is in the pot but it's a lot bigger than all the other eye shadow dust pots I own like Barry M or No 17. I picked up my pot in Poundland and there were many other shades to choose from so I may go back and get more some time soon!

Packaging
The pot is clear so you can see how much you have left and the lid is silver screw top. Inside is a sifter and when you first buy it there is a clear sticker to pull off to release the product through the holes. Once this is off, a lot of product will collect in the lid so with dark shades you need to be really careful.

Performance (as an eyeshadow)
I find the dust eye shadows really messy and a bit difficult to use dry. Dampened down (with a wet brush) they are really concentrated and make a really dramatic look. It is easy to go wrong though if too heavy handed. You really need to be careful when using such a dark shade. It lasted all evening though and came off easily with a cream cleanser. I found using an eyelid primer (I have bare minerals one) made it go on better and last longer.

Nail varnish
This is the real purpose I splurged a whole pound on this product. I just gave my nails a base coat and then dipped an old clear polish (a Sally Hansen one) into a pile of the powder in the lid and painted on the nails. One coat was plenty and it went on really well, creating a great two tone polish, green blue like one of those beetles you see that are iridescent . I find using the powders as a nail polish gives a really concentrated look and unusual colours can be achieved. I added a top coat as the nail polish I created was really sticky (but it was smooth) and the top coat helped it to dry quicker. The nails lasted me three days before I needed to take it off which is average for me. Normal cheap nail polish remover worked just fine with this.

Final thoughts
I think the dazzle dust is great value for money and I will buy some more colours to try out although I do like the colour 'Mystery'. For a pound you can't go wrong and whilst it was OK but a little messy as an eye shadow, I will definitely be using this for a nail polish again some time soon.

Summary: Versatile and cheap product
