Collection 2000 Eye Shadow
Advantages: Great value, lasting wear, blends well, great choice of colours
Disadvantages: Flimsy Packaging
I love make up and love experimenting with different looks, especially with my eye make up. I would usually opt for M.A.C or Benefit eye shadow products for everyday wear for more subtle shades however when experimenting with bright colours I have tended to opt for cheaper brands. However since trying Collection 2000 eye shadows, initially for this purpose I have been so impressed I have started using more frequently.
The Collection 2000 eye shadows come in a clear plastic case. This is a curved rectangular shape. The eye shadow is completely visible inside of the case. The case opens fully with a hinged lid, with a two tipped applicator brush inside of the case. Collection 2000 is written in pink font on this lid.
Probably one of the only disadvantages of the Collection 2000 eye shadows is the packaging. It is quite flimsy and if dropped the case will smash. I have also found that if I have the eye shadow in my make up bag in my suitcase when travelling there is a higher than 80% chance that when I get to my destination the case has either cracked or burst open. So not the greatest of eye shadows to transport, and needs to be "handled with care".
A Collection 2000 eyeshadow trio (10g) costs £3.50 in Boots and Superdrug. A single colour eyeshadow (5g) from Collection 2000 costs £2.19 in Boots and Superdrug. However if you shop around you can pick up these eyeshadows even cheaper. Asda for example often run multibuy deals on these products.
In terms of price the Collection 2000 eye shadows are excellent value for money; a very low price for a product that performs so well. Against more expensive brands such as M.A.C you really cannot tell the difference and the Collection 2000 products give just as good results.
***Application & Results***
The claims on the packaging are "Intense colour eye shadow in easy to blend shades, softly shimmering for long lasting 8 hour wear that is crease resistant for a fresh faced look that lasts"
The Collection 2000 eye shadows definitely live up to this claim.
I have a number of eye shadows from the Collection 2000 range. The single eye shadows are usually more dramatic and bright colours whereas the trios are more neutral and suited to everyday wear in my opinion. My particular favourites in terms of colours from Collection 2000 are the single "Enchanted" a bright green colour for dramatic bright eyes and the "Zenith" eye shadow trio which is a collection of light beige, mid bronze and darker brown; great for everyday wear.
The colours are very easy to blend, especially those in the eye shadow trio as they compliment each other very well. I use an eye shadow brush rather than the applicator sponge which comes with the eye shadow as I personally feel a brush gives better coverage and blends different colours of eye shadow together more effectively. Once applied the Collection 2000 eye shadows actually stay on the eyelid and you do not find eye shadow power under your eye and on your cheekbones. This is particular important if you are wearing one of the brighter coloured eye shadows from the range.
All of the Collection 2000 colours have a shimmer to them which is subtle and not overly sparkly. I think this is perfect for everyday in addition to special occasions as the eye shadow does not look too dramatic especially if you use the more neutral tones but still gives a shimmer which highlights and frames eyes well.
The Collection 2000 eye shadows definitely live up to the claims that they last 8 hours and remain crease resistant. In fact I believe the eye shadow lasts longer than this before it needs reapplied, probably up to 12 hours; one of the only cosmetics products that actually underestimates its claims! The natural bronze colours I wear from the trio are applied at 7am and at 5pm when I come home from work they still are visible; have not creased and look just as good when I have applied. The brighter colours from the singular Collection 2000 eye shadows are also long lasting and the colour remains on eyes. I wear the brighter colours for nights out and even after a night out my eye shadow has not creased.
This is a great value product and a make up essential. Collection 2000 offer a wide range of eye shadows to create a variety of different looks whether that is bright and dramatic or natural and subtle there is an eye shadow (or shadows) in the range to create that look.
The eye shadows have a lovely shimmer to them and blend brilliantly allowing a number of colours to be blended together. The eye shadow is long lasting and actually is a product which actually surpasses its 8 hour wear claims, giving a crease free look all day.
All of this for a bargain price. One of the lowest priced eye shadows on the high street, but undoubtedly one of the best in my opinion!
Summary: Great value eye shadows in a variety of colours for a great price
