Mascara is probably the make-up item I wear most often. I don't apply a full face of make-up on a daily basis but I often apply a little mascara in the mornings. I've tried a number of Collection 2000 mascaras and find then to be generally good. With this in mind I jumped at the chance of trying out this Magi-Length mascara when I found it in my local Poundland store.
The mascara comes in a very eye catching metallic orange tube. To be honest, I'm not too fond of the colour but hey, as long as the mascara is decent then that doesn't matter, right?
Fortunately, the mascara is decent, more than decent actually! I love it so much I've since been down to Poundland to buy a few more while they have them in stock. The mascara is just under £5 in my local Asda for a 9ml tube so it's not exactly expensive to begin with but still, might as well get it cheaper if you can!
The mascara has the usual screw top lip which comes off easily to allow access to the application brush. The brush itself contains a number of rows of short bristles which are spaced quite far apart from each other. I find these bristles to be a lot harder than usual mascara brushes but it's still comfortable to use. It really does lengthen my eyelashes dramatically! I find the mascara easy to apply, I don't have a very steady hand and can often get more mascara on my skin than eyelashes, this has yet to happen to me using this mascara even applying to those trickier bottom lashes.
There is a noticeable difference straight away. It doesn't do much in the way of making lashes appear thicker but it does darken them and give them a little volume as well as the dramatic length. It doesn't leave eyelashes clumpy or heavy either which is obviously an added bonus.
The packaging says 'apply two coats for maximum effect'. While two coats does give you that 'maximum effect' I find that one coat easily suffices.
The product has the usual unpleasant mascara smell but you can only really detect this if you make a conscious effort to smell it and even then it doesn't exactly make you want to run off and throw up so I see no problem there.
This mascara is very long lasting. There have a been couple of occasions where, after a night out, I've simply been too tired to go through the make-up removal process and gone to sleep wearing this mascara. I've woken up with the same lengthy eyelashes I went to bed with!
Combined with a decent eye make-up remover, however, it does come off pretty easily.
I really love this mascara and will continue to use it for the foreseeable future. Highly recommended!
I was very dubious at purchasing this product as I have never thought that a mascara without a bristle brush would work as well. I was recommended it by a family member who really raved on about it so thought I would give it a try.
Collection 2000 is a budget brand that sell cosmetics for eyes, face, lips and nails and offer products that are bang on trend and the range is endless.
No products are tested on animals - never have been and never will be.
The tube is larger than my usual mascara and is in presented in a vibrant metallic orange finish with black text with fluttering eyelashes at both the top and bottom of the tube.
The brush is made up of lots of short rubber bristles as opposed to the usual fibre brushes.
On the back it states that it is a super-lengthening, lash defining mascara with a unique defining brush and Super advanced lengthening formula - for lashes so long it's magic.
Price and availability
You can find the Collection 2000 range in a variety of stores including Boots, Superdrug, Tesco, Asda and local chemists. The recommended retail price of this product is £4.99 but I purchased it from my local Superdrug store for £2.49 on promotion which made it much cheaper than my usual Collection 2000 Longer Lash Mascara.
When I tried it for the first time I was not impressed to say the least. The liquid seemed very thin and it gave my eyelashes the terrible spider lash effect which I did not like and found it very messy. I disliked it so much that I carried on using my regular mascara. When I had a bit more time to experiment with the mascara for a night out I gave it another go. This time I applied it over my current mascara and the results were impressive. I guess because my lashes were already separated the Magi length coated each lash and made them look thicker and longer instantly and really enhanced them. I would even go as far as saying that I prefer this mascara to wearing false lashes.
Just a word of warning for anybody that likes picking mascara off of your eye lashes - dont! This mascara really clings to your lashes and you end up pulling the lashes out with the mascara, I know because I ended up with a bald patch that took ages to grow back!
It is also quite difficult to shift with normal cleaning/make-up wipes so invest in an eye make-up remover that specialises in waterproof mascara.
I must say that I am now hooked and would not go back to my previous mascara. But I would say if you do not get on with it then do try it over your original mascara you will be instantly hooked.
I am not a devotee of any one particular brand or type of mascara, I flirt with all different types as and when it is time to buy a new one, and to be truthful, I usually buy one that is on special offer at the time of shopping. I was in Asda on a Saturday afternoon a while ago when I suddenly remembered I was in desperate need of a new mascara for that night. I grabbed Collection 2000's Magi Length mascara as it was new and therefore on special offer, to tempt people into trying it. I picked it up for £2.50. It retails at a full price of £4.88, so I got a bargain.
The product is supplied in a 9g metallic orange tube, which is very eye catching, with simple black lettering containing product information. Screwing off the top and pulling out the wand reveals the rubber type applicator that has lots of lots of tiny "teeth", which I much prefer to the traditional style brush applicator. I think it coats the lashes much better.
This mascara, as the name says, is for extra length on your lashes, and it really does work. I am lucky in as much as I have naturally long eyelashes, but they are blonde, so invisible without makeup. Just one coat of this product really extends and lengthens the lashes instantly. I find that one coat works wonders but two coats really adds the 'wow' factor. It's fantastic that a mascara costing under £5 can hold its own against the most of the other brands I have tried with their products costing between £8-£12 a pop.
It comes in three colours at the moment, black, ultra black and black shimmer, and I believe there are plans to extend this range if the trial run proves popular. Best of all, I believe this mascara is still on offer at Asda at the moment, definitely worth a look next time you go food shopping!
i am a sucker for buting mascaras,iv been through them all while using STILETO i spotted this one....was cheap so thort ....why not!! AMAZING!!!!!and so cheap compared to what iv brought befor. i put this on one eye and stileto on the other and asked my daughter which was best.....staight away with no humming or aaaarring she said magi length......so gets a thumbs up from me!!
I had been spending just under £20 each time I purchased my favourite mascara until one evening I had gone away and forgotten to pack my make up. I rushed to Asda where the only make up available was Collection 2000.
I chose the Magi Length mascara because of the striking shiny orange packaging and slightly retro styling. At less than £5.00 for the 9ml pack I thought that if it was no good it wouldn't be a huge waste of money.
This mascara is fantastic - the modern plastic (not bristle) brush easily separates, coats and lengthens every lash. Because the brush is really narrow you can get to all those tiny little corner lashes without getting the product everywhere. It doesn't flake or smudge and lasts all day. I'm a contact lens wearer and it has never irritated my eyes. It comes off easily at the end of the day with make up remover. I've had mine a couple of months and there's no sign of it drying out. This is better than much higher priced mascaras. The only downside is the small choice of colours - no brown I'm afraid!
