Advantages: Blends well, Doesn't dry out my skin!

Disadvantages: It's ORANGE!

I have a very fair complexion and finding foundations to match is so hard that I either end up looking orange, pink or resembling a goth! Coming into the summer and looking forward to the 2012 Olympics held in London, I decided to start wearing some fake tan but then quickly realised I needed a new foundation to blend my face to my neck and body! I didn't want to spend too much, as fake tan washes off after a few days so I popped down to Boots and had a nose at the Collection 2000 range as I love the low price but high quality. I didn't want shimmer or glitter so I was pleased to see the 'Natural Matte Foundation.'

The packaging is very simplistic and uncomplicated - if it was a person it would be very laid back and not fussed about much! That is the first time I have ever compared a foundation to a person out of all of the reviews I have done! The foundation is encased in a sort of flat tube bottle that you would expect moisturiser to come in and measures about the same size as your hand from wrist to finger tips. It's skin toned coloured with relevant information around the casing. It may not be the most gorgeous packaging but I don't think that is something to criticise or sway you from buying. Once you take the dark plastic lid off, there is no pump just an outlet to access the product - I would say it is a disadvantage but that is just a personal preference.

There are 5 shades to choose from all starting with the word 'natural' to hint at the ingredients perhaps?
Natural Ivory
Natural Blonde
Natural Beige
Natural Almond
Natural Amber

I usually go into detail about each shade individually, however this is one flaw I have about this foundation and caused me to entitle this review! Weirdly enough most of the shades are named after a hair colour except for Ivory. As I stated earlier I wanted a foundation to match my fake tan - I would have normally gone for Ivory as it is the lightest however I decided to go one up and choose Natural Blonde as I have blonde hair and though it would match me well. This was not the case. It was only the second shade in the range and it should have been called natural ginger instead of blonde as it was orange!

I applied with a wet sponge and loads of moisturiser to try and take some of the colour out but it was still very orange and I found I could not wear it. I have not tried the other shades in the range however from trying it on it is very creamy and smooth and does go on well and blend without drying or appearing chalky. It would be a brilliant foundation if it wasn't for the shade. So sorry Collection 2000 this one just wasn't for me.

However it could just be me as it was the winner of the Pure Beauty Award in 2009 for Best Foundation Launch. It is enriched with skin loving minerals that give a fresher looking complexion that also nourished the skin. It also contains a grape extract to improve skin elasticity - this would be brilliant if I didn't glow in the dark whilst wearing it.

Don't be put off buying and trying for yourself as everyone's skin is different so when you are in Boots or Superdrug try out the testers and see if you can find a shade that suits you!

Summary: Would be a good foundation if there was a better choice of shades.
