I've never really been much or a girly girl, and until recently my make up bag consisted of just four or five items, I didn't own hair straigteners, and I'd never have dreamed of using facial serums . This all changed when I started seeing my current boyfriend, who frequently tells me I'm gorgeous - and I started to believe him! I've gradually become more of a girly girl, and a little more groomed, just due to blossoming confidence, and one of my new favourite make up items is this Plastique Lipgloss from Collection 2000.
Packaging wise, it's nothing exceptional - no sensual curves on the packet, no kitsch designs or funny little plays on words . It's simply a clear plastic tube with a silver metallic cap and a little silver detailing on the pack, which lets me know that as well as being a high shine lip colour, this contains vitamin E and Jojoba, as well as UVA and UVB sunscreen. Nice to know this is going to give my lips a little extra protection from the sun .
Collection 2000 makeup is available in Boots, Superdrug, and in many super markets. I picked mine up at a little under £3 for an 8ml tube - a little searching on Ebay shows that these can be purchased there from as little as 99p. There are many different shades, including a clear one, so I'm sure you could find one to suit you .
The colour I chose was shade 31, Fire Opal, a rich copper brown in colour, with a slightly pearlescent appearance, almost glittery and slightly metallic. Applying this was easy using the applicator brush housed inside the lid, although I found the texture a little thick and sticky at first . To be fair, I can't criticise the product for this - I was unused to wearing lip gloss, and wasn't aware how much it would differ in texture from lipstick. Havign experimented with a few other glosses, I now realise the stickiness is par for the course.
Regardless, it was easy to evenly coat my lips with this, and it certainly provided the high shine it claimed . The colour when applied was a little lighter than it looked in the bottle, but still a lovely rich copper, with a little shimmery effect - it almost looks as though there are tiny tinybits of glitter in it . It was smooth once applied, and the stickiness of my lips became less noticable after half an hour, although some of the shine and most of the colour remained .
It didn't 'bleed' into the fine lines around my mouth as some other glosses do, but I did find I needed to apply every few hours to keep the glossy appearance .
Overall, I'm very impressed with this product . As make-up goes, it is pretty inexpensive, and it does the job it claims to do. My lips also felt a little softer after repeated uses, although I don't know how much of this is due to product, which doesn't make any claims of being able to moisturise. A great gloss, 4 stars!

- 09/11/09 Sounds good! I'm on the lookout for a cheaper lip gloss as my Bourjois and L'Oreal habit is rapidly emptying my purse. Think I'll give this a go! |
