You open each lid with a slight twist, and it pops off with a gentle spring action Inside the lid is a stubby but slightly pointed applicator - a bit like a felt tip - with some of the green powder on the end. The powder actually lives in the top of the lid, packed in tight so it doesn't drop out. Always keen to try out new items, this was dropped into my basket as I did a little shopping with an online cosmetics retailer.
