~~ Collection 2000 Shine Away Compact Powder ~~
For as long as I can possibly remember I have worn full make-up, particularly as I feel naked if I leave the house bare-faced. One of the essential items in my make-up bag is face powder due to the fact that I suffer with T-zone skin and as a consequence, my skin will shine as the day progresses. Whilst I am quite fussy with my make-up products with the majority belonging to the Boots No 7 range, I am not loyal with face powders and will buy whatever is on offer at any given time. My essential requirements with regards powders is that they have to be pressed as opposed to loose and the colour needs to either be translucent or light, particularly as I have very pale skin. A purchase that I made during the summer of last year belongs to Collection 2000 and this review discusses their Shine Away Compact Powder.
We are provided with 10g of pressed powder contained within a sturdy plastic and rather eye-catching compact. The lid is easily opened by placing my finger tips in a small groove and it firmly closes when not in use. Contained within the lid is a mirror, which I hadn't expected and is a most welcomed addition, particularly as I find it awkward when touching up my make-up when I have to search in my handbag for a separate mirror. The compact contains an application sponge and is easily applied where I use it on top of my foundation. The claim is that the silky powder contains ingredients that will control the production of oil and subsequently, prevent breakouts and minimise shine for up to ten hours.
The powder is extremely fine and perfectly covers my skin where only one application is required and I apply it over the top of my foundation. I have a few skin imperfections, which are probably not particularly obvious to others, but I know they're there, so it is essential for me that the powder is easy to blend whilst providing me with a natural look. I favour a flawless appearance, but do not wish my skin to look caked or artificial and the powder enables me to achieve my desired look with minimal effort. A problem I have experienced with a few brands of powder is that the remaining powder tends to break up once I've used approximately half. However, I've experienced no problem with this product as the remaining powder remains in place almost until the end. I've used the powder on a bare face and whilst it offers a light coverage I prefer to have initially applied foundation to achieve my much desired flawless look.
I have to agree with the claims where the powder prevents shine although I feel that ten hours is a little ambitious as after approximately four hours I am able to witness a few small patches of shine, so I need to touch up the appropriate areas. I love the matt flawless finish that it gives to my skin, which enables me to feel confident with my appearance. The powder is easily removed from my skin and I cannot admit to having suffered with any breakouts due to the product blocking my pores. I'm sure this powder was available in three shades when I made my purchase, but according to the Boots website it is only available in light and medium. You can either choose to wear the powder alone or over foundation. I can highly recommend Collection 2000 Shine Away Compact Powder as it serves its purpose well and at £4.19 I believe it to be excellent value for money.
I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
Summary: A reasonably priced face powder
