“ Brand: Collection 2000 / Type: Highlighter „
So, as I mentioned in another of my reviews, I tried Benefit Highbeam and loved it, well then I discovered these. I own them in Riviera and Maldives and they are both really versatile. Riviera is in fact almost a dead on dupe of Highbeam and is much easier to apply due to it being in stick form.
The stick can either be swiped directly onto the skin and then blended out or, as I have found works better, applied using a finger- this allows for greater precision (after all you don't want your whole face to shimmer!).
The stick is a really useful design as it is easy to store in your make up bag and lasts ages. I have had Maldives for over a year now and it is still only half used up. I actually found Riviera in a discount bin at a supermarket for 50p so it was a bargain find and works brilliantly. Definitely recommended if you want a high end look with out the price tag.
I am glad i'm able to review this product as it's one of the things I simply couldn't live without. I'll admit it, I've had this one for about 3 years...maybe I should replace it by now! OK so why is it so great you ask? Well I don't actually use it for it's intended purpose. I bought it with the intention of using it as a highlighter but I found the finish a bit too shiny for me as I have slightly shiny skin at times anyway.
So for the first few months of having this prodcut I figured I had wasted my money, until I had a sudden brain wave! My friends and I are huge fans of Barry M dazzle dusts and glitter dusts and every week we go out around town dressed in...and wearing the brightest clothes and make up you have ever seen! and it's this product which has made my make up that bright.
So here's how... I apply my main make up, foundation, concealer and powder which are normally products from the collection 2000 brand also. Then I use this highlighter stick in shade "1 Maldives" to create a base for my eyeshadow smoothing a thin layer accross the lid...waiting a few moments and then patting the dusts onto it. This creates a good base and really makes the colours pop. I have tried all different products intended as eyeshadow bases and even vaseline but nothing compares to this highlighter. I think it is the exact right consistency.
The reason I use the Maldives shade is that it is the lightest, it kind of looks like pearls and so whatever eyeshadow you put over the top, even white or white glitter shows up brilliantly.
This product is also super cheap and if I remember rightly only cost me about £3,which is a bargain when you imagine that if you bought something professional from MAC for example that it would cost about4 or 5 times that amount. It also seems to go on forever considering I use it most days and it still hasn't run out! it shows you don't even need to use much to get a good effect!
So overall, for fans of eye dusts or just eyeshadow in general I say this product is an absolute must have!
Ages ago, I was looking for a highlighter stick and couldn't find one anywhere. I knew the sort of thing I wanted, but my search remained fruitless for a long time. That was until I came across Collection 2000's 'The Highlighter'.
~About the product~
This is a highlighting stick that can be used on either the face or body. I believe it comes in four different shades - the one I have is No.4 Riviera, which is a sort of pink colour with gold running through it. It's basically used to give a glow to areas you may want to highlight such as cheek and brow bones.
The stick is sort of oval shaped (the shape reminds me of pan stick!), and comes in white plastic casing with blue metallic writing. I quite like the blue metallic colour on here, but unfortunately it has started to wear off a bit. The product has a little wheel at the bottom, which when turned moves the stick up or down, which is a nice touch and a bit different to the normal twist function.
To use you can either apply directly to the skin, or by rubbing a finger onto the stick, and then applying to your skin. When I first bought the product I used to apply it direct, however now I use my fingers as I think it gives a more precise finish. Although it can be used on the body, I only really use it on my face to give a bit of a glow. I have shimmer creams that I use on my body when I'm going out -if I remember, but I'm not really sure where you could use a product like this on your body - perhaps on the cleavage?
Anyway, I usually use this on my brow and cheek bones, to illuminate them a bit and give a bit of a glow. The product is very very creamy, and so glides onto the skin really easily and is easy to blend.
I love the finish this gives. Although the colour I bought is quite a pinky tone, the pink sort of blends with the skin, rather than making it look pinker, so you are left with a lovely golden shimmer to the areas you have applied it. It also looks really subtle - rather than making you look sparkly, it just illuminates the area you have applied it to, making you look a bit more fresh faced. In fact I usually use this during the day and use MeMeMe Beat the Blues at night as it is a little bit more dramatic than this one.
The main negative point about this product is that it doesn't last too long. I think it's because of it's creamy texture, it seems to slide off pretty easily. It will last maybe an hour or two, but needs to be re-applied quite a few times during the day, which can be a pain.
This will cost you just £3.19 from Superdrug. For that, you get and 8g stick, which is actually quite a lot of product. I've had mine ages, and there's still loads left.
I really love this product, it goes on so easily and gives a really lovely finish and it wont break the bank either. The only downside of it, is that it needs to be re-applied quite frequently, otherwise it's great!
