Collection 2000 (now known as Collection) Primed & Ready Smoothing Makeup Primer is designed to prep the skin, providing a beautiful base for easier makeup application and ensure your makeup remains in tact throughout the day. It's priced at £5.99 for an 18ml tube.
The packaging looks quite cheap but unlike most primers I've used so far Collection have had the sense to put a flip top lid on the tube, which makes it so much more convenient to use.
This is a colourless primer so you don't need to worry about blending it into the skin, just smooth it on and that's it. It has a fairly thick gel like consistency but it's a dry feeling gel rather than moist if that makes sense. It smooths really easily onto the skin and feels lovely and silky, and I can instantly feel it taking away the oil from my skin, leaving it feeling much fresher.
I love the way this leaves my skin, it really does take away all the shine, even when I'm having a patricularly greasy-skin day. My skin is left with a lovely matte finish and my pores look less noticeable and my skin has a more even look to it.
It definitely helps my foundation, or any other makeup I use over the top of it, to go on more smoothly and easily, and it gives a more perfected looking finish. I also find it helps my makeup to stay on for longer, several hours longer in some cases.
I mostly use this alone as generally I don't wear a lot of makeup and just like to look shine-free, and this is probably the best primer I've used for this purpose. It doesn't keep me completely shine free all day but it is the longest lasting one I've found, and it's also really easy to just top it up when I need to without creating a heavy feel on my skin.
Yes, I would recommend this primer to anyone looking for something to keep the shine at bay. It performs much better than many more expensive primers so I'd say it's excellent value for money.
I have bought quite a few items from the Collection range and I like to use a primer before I apply my foundation. I don't like to wear foundation every single day and only really like to wear it when I am going out for the day or out for the evening. When I spotted this primer I decided to buy it to give it a go because it was cheap to buy and worth trying it to see if it worked and if it was suitable for my sensitive skin.
It comes in a small black plastic tube and has a flip back lid. It is a fairly rich consistency and almost like a gel. It has a smooth, soft texture to it and I cannot detect a smell. When I first tried it on my skin I applied a small amount onto my fingertips and gentle massaged it into my skin. It massaged well into my skin and glided across it really well. It absorbed almost instantly and didn't leave it feeling tacky or sticky on my skin, just felt really smooth. My skin felt like velvet and extremely soft, I was really amazed how this primer felt on my skin and I certainly didn't expect my skin to feel as soft as it actually did from using this product. I was quite impressed with the way my skin felt and it felt as if I had applied a really nice moisturiser on my skin. Felt like a top brand primer and not a shops own kind.
The first time I used it I decided to use my mineral foundation powder to see how it worked and I was pleasantly surprised how well my mineral powder felt over the top of the primer and how well it blended onto my skin and over the top and remained in place extremely well. The primer gave it a really good base for applying the mineral powder and I was more than happy with the results.
The next time I used it I decided to use a liquid foundation and the liquid blended well over the primer in the same way as the mineral powder and both foundations sat well over the top of it and I was happy with the results from using the liquid foundation.
In terms of how long the primer worked for helping the foundations remain on my skin for a longer time I found that they remained for a longer time than I expected and for most of the day without having to top up my foundations.
I loved the way this worked as a base I then decided to just use it and apply my blushers over the top, both powder and cream blushers and it worked very well as a base for my blushers without wearing a foundation and just bare skin with the blusher over my cheek area. My blushers also blended well over the primer to give a nice natural appearance.
It leaves my skin with a flawless finish and a natural appearance and no shine to my skin because it dries a matte finish and doesn't give that glossy, shiny look I find some brands tend to look, with this one the look is just natural looking like I am not even wearing a primer.
This primer is super as a base for wearing any make up but the only problem I have is the tube is quite small and I only wished it was a little larger tube and lasted a little longer. A little does go a long way but if used every single day of the week the tube wouldn't really last that long used regularly and that is the only downside to this product. Everything else about it is a dream for a base for my make up.
I have sensitive skin and this primer hasn't caused any rashes or irritations on my skin and is a nice gentle primer which is more than suitable for my kind of skin.
For a 18ml tube it costs £5.99, I do think this is a good price for the way this one works as a base but do think it is slightly overpriced for the amount of primer in the tube compared to the price of other brands priced at the same price because some of the other brands are larger tubes. The quality is really good.
If you are looking for a nice primer which works well as a base for make up, this one is ideal but if you use a primer most days just bare in mind the size of the tube won't last too long before you will need to buy another tube. For myself I don't use a primer or wear make up every single day so the size does last me a good few months.
I recommend this product if like me you only use a primer 2 or 3 times a week or so and it is one I will most certainly buy again in the future.
I am going to drop 1 star and give this product 4 stars only because I think the tube should be a little larger for the price of this one.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
I got this product in a beauty box some time last year. It's not something I would have bought but a primer is something I use every day so I was pleased to be able to try out a new one and see how it fared. It costs around £4.99 which is very reasonable compared to other primers.
The packaging is ok though it's not really to my tastes, it looks quite cheap and cheerful which I guess is what collection 2000 is all about. It's an opaque black plastic tube which means you can't see when it's running out. It has a flip top lid thatakes it really easy and convenient to use. Unfortunately it isn't that easy to get the product out of the tube once you get down to the last bits which is annoying.
The primer is quite thick in consistency and it looks almost grainy but in fact it has a smooth silky texture which is quite gel like but less moist (hopefully that makes sense to someone?!). It does feel lovely smoothing it onto my skin and I don't have to use much at a time.
When I first apply this it leaves my skin with a lovely matte finish and it does help to make my makeup look a bit better. However I find it doesn't really last long and after a couple of hours I'm starting to look shiny again, which is disappointing as the main reason I use a primer is stop the shine. I also didn't find it helpedy makeup to stay on, which again is a major factor when choosing a primer.
All in all I didn't really rate this primer and I wouldn't buy it again.
