An excellent long lasting eye liner from Colorsport

Whilst I was satisfied with my choice of black eye liner pencil, I was intrigued to learn of a product manufactured by Colorsport named 24 Hour Eye Liner, which, as the name would suggest, claims to offer 24 hour staying power. As I am able to speak highly of the brand's 30 Day Mascara due to several years of continued use, I couldn't resist making a purchase and this review discusses my experience with using.

I must admit that I found the product a little difficult to locate in the Cardiff Boots store, as it was nowhere to be found on any of the make up counters. It was only after a good search that I discovered it hanging on a display rack in amongst make up accessories such as eye lash curlers, pencil sharpeners and face powder puffs. The eye liner pen is presented on a sturdy piece of cardboard, which contains instructions on the reverse with the pen itself being protected with transparent plastic packaging. I found this to be very favourable, particularly as I had the assurance that no customers had tested it out prior to my purchase, which is often a concern of mine.

I will only choose black when it comes to eye liners, as the deep colour draws emphasis to the eyes where it can be used lightly for a subtle look or boldly applied for a dramatic or smouldering appearance. The reason for my purchase was solely due to the 24 hour claim, as whilst I have no desire to wear the product for an entire day, I liked the fact that I would hopefully not need to reapply a few hours following the initial application.

I would describe the 13½ cm in length plastic covered pen as slightly stubby when making a comparison to one of my Boots No 7 eye liners and as a result, it offers a firm grip, which is easily maintained during application. It offers a deep lid, which is easily removed and securely clicks into place, so I had no concerns that it would detach itself and subsequently dry out whilst stored in my make up bag. The nib has been conveniently shaped to enable easy application although its appearance was initially a little daunting due to its 1 cm length.

However, my fears were soon alleviated as the nib is fairly rigid and as a consequence, does not bend during application unless slight pressure is used. I was able to maintain a steady hand, as the nib allowed me to draw a precise line in one single stroke from the inner corner of my eye lashes and along the curvature of my eye lid with a tiny flick on the outer corner. I repeated the same process along my waterline with the results being extremely impressive.

I would describe the appearance of the line as identical to that of a black marker pen that has been drawn on a piece of paper - defined and solid. Whilst I prefer a bold and striking effect, using a little less pressure will offer a slightly lighter line. I liked the fact that the colour enabled me to emphasise and offer definition my eyes and whilst you do not require any special technique I would advise that you need a steady hand. As a result, some consumers may feel a little more comfortable resting their elbows on a table.

I am not one to smudge my eye liner following application, which is just as well, particularly as this product will now allow, as carrying out a test on the back of my hand turned the line into somewhat of a mess. Consequently, if you favour smudging your eye pencil, this would not be the product for you. I was impressed by the speedy drying time of just a few seconds. The staying power of the eyeliner was more than impressive although I cannot admit to finding out about the 24 hour drying time, as my days of staying up through the night partying until the early hours are long gone!

During the working week I apply my make up at around 7.30 am where I normally need reapply my eye liner just before lunchtime. However, Colorsport 24 Eyeliner totally exceeded my expectations, as the colour remained as solid and intense as when I first applied it, so there was no need for me to touch it up at any point throughout the day. I generally tend to remove my make up with a supermarket brand baby lotion, which proved to be a little difficult and it was at this point that I referred to the cardboard packaging where I discovered that the eyeliner is waterproof. However, with using some slight pressure on cotton wool balls and a blob of baby lotion, I managed to successfully remove all remnants of the pen.

An issue I often experience with my eye pencils is that tiny particles will gather in the inner corner of my eye and more so when I have removed it at the end of the day. However, this is not something I have experienced with Colorsport and I have continued to use the eyeliner until this very day. I was finding that my Boots No 7 pencils would last me around two months, particularly with sharpening on alternate days. The Colorsport pen does not need sharpening and is still going strong after three months of use, which is generally five days a week. When I initially purchased the pen I had anticipated that the barrel could be turned to dispense more of the nib, but this is not the case. Consequently, the nib will eventually dry out with the pen needing to be replaced.

Colorsport 24 Hour Eyeliner is available in two colours, namely black and brown with my initial purchase being from Boots at a cost of £7.75. However, I have since discovered that Amazon are offering the eyeliner for £5.32 inclusive of postage and packing and if you opt for a regular subscription at intervals of your choice, you are able to purchase the eyeliner for just £4.79.

Due to the reasons discussed above I am able to make a high recommendation and can award nothing less than five stars.

I hope you found my review useful and thanks for reading.
