Cheap impulse buys
Every so often I buy some makeup from online discount cosmetic retailers, and I can never resist throwing in a few extra cheapie items to try out! With my most recent order I found myself adding one of these eye dusts to my basket - at only 49p I didn't have to deliberate too long over my purchase!
It comes in a range of shades including white, blue, green and gold but the one I purchased is called Moonlight Silver.
Luxury for under 50p!
According to the site I bought mine from, these are "tiny pots of pure pleasure and luxury" - which to be honest seems a bit unlikely for under 50p! However you do get quite a lot in your pot, and the packaging isn't quite as bad as you may expect for such a low price. It is a little see-through plastic tub with a silver screwtop lid and a bit of black lettering. Nothing special, but not actually too bad either!
But it is under the screwtop lid that there is a bit of a problem! There is a small hole at the top of the pot through which you dispense the product - but this is harder than it sounds. The hole is too small to get a brush through, so you have to tip the pot up and I tend to tip this onto my fingertip. However this means you have no real control over how much is dispensed and I find I get a different amount every time I try this! As the product is such a fine powder this can get a bit messy.
Bright and shimmery
The powder itself is actually really nice. It is a very bright silver with lots of glitter and sparkle to it. However once you smooth this onto my eyelids it is easy for the colour to disappear quickly! If you are after just a sheer sweep of shimmer then this is ideal, but if you want something a little stronger then you have to layer this up a bit! The key to me is to apply this quite thickly, and as I use an eyelid primer this helps give something for the powder to cling on to. Without a primer I do think this eye shadow would disappear very rapidly!
Despite my reservations, for the price it is hard to complain too much about this eye shadow. It does take a bit of effort to build up the colour of this but once on it does look very pretty and has a nice amount of shimmer and glitter to it. In fact I wouldn't hesitate to buy a few more shades in the range! And I would even suggest that if you are a fan of Barry M dazzle dusts these make a pretty decent much cheaper alternative. My only real reservation about this is the dodgy design of the dispenser.
Shop around online for these as they seem to be quite widely available.
