      CND Solar Oil

      I have a really great lady who I met through a friend that does manicures and pedicures and the first time I went to her she mentioned to me that I had quite dry nails and really dry cuticles. I was pretty sure she was trying to up-sell me and get me to buy more products than just my pedicure but I did agree that my cuticles were very dry and were always peeling off on my feet so when she mentioned a bottle of this oil I bought a bottle. I also wanted to make my Shellac pedicure last a bit longer and she said that by applying the oil on top it will soak in and condition the nails as there are tiny little microscopic holes in the Shellac paint that allows the oil to soak through. Anyway, a 3.7 ml bottle only cost me £3 which wasn't too big of an investment and I've been using it everyday for the last couple of months and have only now go to the bottom so I think it is very good value.

      I had never heard of it before then but I believe it's quite popular in the manicure world. CND Solar oil is a nail and cuticle conditioner and according to their website it is an, "Award-winning cuticle oil is infused with jojoba oil and vitamin E. Repeated use drives nutrients in deeper, creating stronger, healthier nails and hydrated cuticle area. SolarOilTM should be used with ANY nail service."

      Like I've mentioned the oil comes in a little bottle and looks a bit like a nail varnish bottle as when you unscrew the lid there is a little brush attached to the lid so this enables you to brush the oil onto your cuticles around your nails. In my opinion this makes it really easy to apply the oil and it doesn't make a mess at all. The oil is thin, I would say it probably has the consistency of baby oil rather than a thick gel oil but that means you only need to use a little brush per nail as the oil goes quite far and then I find it soaks into my nails and cuticles really well. I just brush it on and then put some socks on so the oil doesn't rub off or wash off.

      The oil has a really lovely almond smell to it, it almost smells like a cherry bakewell although you can't really smell this once it's on your cuticles. The oil has worked wonders on my feet and my hands as well although I don't put it on my finger nails as religiously as I do my toe nails. The skin around my toes is lovely and soft and I don't really have any hang nail bits of skin anymore. Plus my nails look in really good condition as does my nail polish.

      All in all, a little quick and easy treatment I would recommend for your nails.

        Best friend for the nails

        I wouldnt call myself a girlie girl, I never had. But one area that Ive always enjoyed and been quite fascinated in is the world of nails. Having lovely, well maintained nails and a pop of colour on them, make me feel good, uplifted.Very much like when you have your hair done, gives you that new lease in life.Same feel I have with my nails.If nothings on them, I feel naked. After having my second child and losing my job, I decided I wanted to find a career that I genuinely liked and wanted for myself. Beauty therapy had crossed my mind many years agobut did nothing about it. Then I thought about looking into a career in nails, and from that seed I have been taking courses when I can fit it around the kids.

        One of the downfalls I have discovered with being, or learning to be a nail technician, is the fact you will be using products on clients handsranging from different polishes, gel polishes, acrylic systems, manicure products such as scrubs, masks. So many products, so many brands and so much choice.When you first start out, depending on who you train with, you will be exposed to certain products, but not all.And its very hard to decide which ones are right for you, which ones work, which ones can you retail. After doing lots of research, I discovered the company CND and its product Solar Oil which was getting rave reviews from nail technicians, so I decided to give it a go.

        Who is CND?

        If you get your nails done from certain salons, nail technicians, chances are they will be using some CND products. CND are a company that provide products for the professional nail technician along with training courses in different nail treatments such as spa maincure/pedicure, Gel, L+P ( acrylic ), Shellac ( power polish 14 day wear manicure system ) and more. CND is only sold through very few of their distributing partners ( companies that will sell to professional nail technicians only ) therefore as a consummer, you would be able to buy their products from the nail technician themselves.

        What is Solar Oil?

        Solar oil is an cuticle oil. Its made up of the highest quality oils such as jojoba oil, vitamin e, rice bran and almond oil. It penetrates into cuticles and nails and helps them from becoming brittle and promotes healthy nail growth. CND Solar Oil has worn numerous awards over the years, such as 2010 Instyle Best Beauty Buys, Nail Readers Choice Awards 2011. Its a cult product in the world of nails.

        How does it look?

        Very much like a typical nailpolish in regards to the bottle. It comes in various sizes but the most common is 15ml.Its a simple glass bottle with a brush apllicator in the lid, exactly the same as most polish products. Ingredients are listed on the back, and you have 12 months to use once opened.

        How do you apply?

        You paint the oil around the cutile and gently rub into the nails and around it at least 2 times a day. It can be applied on a naked nail or over polish. If your going to poilsh your nail, dont do it directly over a nail that has just had Solar Oild placed on it as the nail needs to be clean to allow the polish to adhere. Place the oil around and alittle over the nail after you have placed on polish.It will make nails and hands look moisturised and give a freshly salon style manicure look to it. Or you can place it around a naked nail if you dont want to use polish.You can also use it around nails that have gel, acrylic, gelmpolish products no problem. As long as its been placed on after the relevant system has been applied to the skin not before.

        What is this product like?

        It is important to use it twice a day at least, every day.Its a fantastic product thats easy to use and makes your nails appear and be stronger and more healthy. The smell is amazing, as it contains almond oil this is the main scent you will smell, very much like marzipan. At Christmas, they did bring out a limited addition vanilla fragrance, so from time to time they do like to offer an alternative.

        The oil sinks in well.You dont need much as it is very concentrated and an oil, so dont go mad, you'll only be wasting products and making your fingers greasy when its not necessary. The smell you will smell faintly throughout the day, which I love.

        Is this product readily available?

        It shouldnt be.CND are very specific when it comes to who gets their hands on their product as its only sold to professionls from them, but like alot of things and products they can slip through the net and fall into places such as Amazon and Ebay. The rrp for a 15ml bottle is £9.95 which should last roughly 2-3 months.I would sugesst if you do want this product, buy it from a salon or nail technician to ensure its the genuine product, as alot of fakes are around with the CND branding such as Shellac.

        Would I buy this again?

        Most definitely, and I will be using it on clients when I have finished my training.

        Great nail conditioner that really works

        I started getting my nails professionally done about 5 years ago now after seeing a friend at works fabulous nails and being very envious of how fantastic they looked. They were gel nails with some fantastic nail art so I decided to book in and get mine done too. That started a nail obsession with me and I've had them done every month since. I noticed as did my nail technician that the gel nails weren't lasting as long as they used to and were lifting and breaking off long before my next appointment was due. She suggested I get some Solar Oil and told me that CND was the best to get as that's what they use in salons.

        I bought a full size 7.3ml bottle on ebay for £6.49 but you can also get a smaller what they call "pinkie" bottle which is just 3.7ml and £2.75 which is handy for carrying around in your handbag or if you just wanna give this product a try without paying out full price for it. It comes in a clear nail varnish bottle with a black screw top lid which has the brush applicator inside just like a bottle of nail polish would. The liquid inside the bottle is a light amber and as you would expect oily to the touch and it has the same consistency of an oil too. So what is it supposed to do for your nails? Well according to CND "Creative Nail Design Solar Oil is a synergistic blend of naturally light oils and Vitamin E, designed to deeply penetrate and protect skin and nails.

        Jojoba Oil carries Vitamin E deeply into the skin to help prevent cellular damage and reduce visible signs of aging. Naturally light oils keep skin soft and supple. Jojoba Oil draws Rice Bran Oil and Sweet Almond Oil into natural nails, nail enamel and nail enhancements to keep them tough and flexible. Repeated use drives oils deeper into natural nails and nail enhancements, maximizing the benefits and reducing service breakdown.

        Super penetrating formula conditions your skin and nails."

        My nail technician actually uses this on my nails at the very end after my nails are all done so I knew how to apply it already. You simply brush it along the cutical on each nail then simply massage it into that whole area around the skin on the bottom of your nail and up the sides. I use it once every evening before bed because when applied the area is a little greasy for a few minutes. The oil has a lovely almond smell to it which I just adore too.

        As I said before when I first started using this my gel nails were lifting a lot and therefore breaking which is really annoying when you are paying so much money to have them done. Plus when gel nails break they can really really hurt believe me. Also as I'd been having my nails done for so many years my natural nails were becoming very thin and sometimes would actually hurt under the UV lamp. I would say it took a full 4 weeks before I started noticing a difference in my nails. I started using it and my nails still lifted but my nail tech said to keep going with it to give it a chance to start working. I carried on and got my nails freshly infilled again as usual and this time they lasted the full 4 weeks until my next appointment with very minimal lifting and no breakages at all! I've since used it every day and have been using it foor about 6 months now. My gel nails last a lot better now with hardly any lifting and my natural nails are a lot stronger underneath.

        I have to give this 5 stars as it's a fantastic product that really does work given the chance and prolonged use.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          A great all round nail and cuticle conditioner

          Solar Oil is a must have for anyone who uses acrylic nails. Actually, scrap that; Solar Oil is a must have for anyone who cares about the appearance of their nails, real or fake!

          I am a current acrylic nail wearer, so know how important it is to keep your nails and cuticles nourished and hydrated. Solar Oil by Creative certainly lives up to the job. The Jojoba oil and Vitamin E deeply penetrates your nail and cuticle, helping to keep the signs of ageing at bay. The light oils keeps your skin soft and supple, as well as deeply nourished.

          Solar Oil helps with dry, flaky nails, tough cuticles, and helps to prevent lifting of acrylic and gel nails. It also encourages your natural nail to grow.

          Solar Oil is best put on just before you go to bed, so it has all night to soak in. Just sweep a little across each cuticle and rub in to the whole nail. Just remember to not touch your hair, or it may get a little greasy!

          Solar Oil comes in three different sizes, 236ml, 15ml and 7.3ml. If you buy from a salon, all are very expensive. I bought my 15ml from eBay and paid £4.00, so it's definitely worth scouring the internet for the best deal.

          The oil smells like almond and is very oily. It does take a while to soak in, but it really does work. It certainly has helped my nails look healthier, and has prevented my acrylics from lifting too much.

          A great investment and worthwhile buy.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          Great!

          .Solar oil is a conditioning oil for nails, cuticles & skin.

          I use solar oil on my nail enhancments (or more commonly known as fake nail & nail extensions) I hardly ever have my natural nails as I am just so used to having enhancments I feel bare without them! People are forever asking me "how do you type with those?!" and even "Do they not wreck your natural nails!?" The short answer is yes they can do...if not looked after properly...and that's where solar oil comes in.
          Solar Oil is a synergistic blend of naturally light oils and Vitamin E, designed to deeply penetrate and protect skin and nails. All you have to do is rub the oil over your nail cuticles on a morning and evening. This will also stop any discolouring you may get with extensions.

          Creative Nail design (also known as CND) manifacture this product amongst many others in the range, their products are so gentle that they won't damage your natural nails and yet are strong and beautiful that you will enjoy the results.
          This product has been seen in many magazines including; More, Town & country, Star, Ladies home journal, Womens health and many more. It has also picked up awards at; readers choice awards and totalbeauty.com.

          Onto the prices, to buy from the website you must be a member (in the trade) so I have searched around online and found the following prices:
          15ml bottle: £5.07 @ TailorMade Nails
          7.39ml bottle: £5.74 @ Pura Natural Beauty
          15ml bottle: £9.56 @ lookfantastic
          68ml bottle: £16.99 @ Galaxy nails
          15ml bottle: £7.65 @Tiffany's Nail Supply

          As you can see the prices fluctuate drasticly so it is deffinatley worth shopping around :) many nail technicions will actually provide you with a miniture bottle on your first visit though. If you are not a keen online shopper then I would reccomend going into any nail bar and they should be on sale however you will probably pay over the odds for it. If you are a keen online shopper...eBay!!
          I think I have covered everything but if anyone has any questions or queries feel free to let me know :) Please find photo's of my nails! I hope everyone had a brilliant christmas & happy new year!!

          Nail fans, try this... now!

          Want lovely strong beautiful nails? Look no further, I've got just the product for you!

          **What is it?***
          Solar Oil by Creative Nail design is just magic! It's a blend of light oils and Vitamin E, and works with false or natural nails. The formula deeply penetrates and protects skin and nails.

          **How I discovered it***
          I was introduced to this brand by my line manager who couldn't recommend it highly enough (she buys hers from the beauty salon) and I see why now! It has a lovely fragrance to it, a sort of almond smell I think. It seems weird putting oil on your nails but it somehow works!

          **Packaging**
          The bottle looks just like a nail varnish bottle with a brush inside to help with application. It's see through too so you can see how much is left in the bottle.

          **How to use***
          You are meant to apply the product daily if possible to the nail bed and massage in. It sinks in really quickly and penetrates deeply into the skin, keeping it soft and supple. You really don't need a lot, one dab does your whole hand.

          **Don't just get one!!**
          I keep a bottle at work, in the car (for those traffic jam moments!) and one for by my bed. I just use it when I'm watching TV or reading and it's really nice and relaxing and leaves your nails feeling lovely.

          **What's in it?***
          It's made of jojoba oil, rice bran oil and sweet almond oil which are all lovely natural products. You can even use the product over nail varnish and if you keep using it, it will help keep nails tough and flexible.

          **Why does it work so well?***
          I think the key to this product is that it doesn't dry out the nail bed, the moisturising properties help keep the nail healthy and conditioned.

          ***It's not even expensive***
          If you want nice nails and have never tried this product, what are you waiting for, you can pick up a full sized bottle for under a fiver! I found some cute 3.7ml bottles on ebay, snapped up half a dozen and they have lasted me more than a year. You will never look back once you've tried Solar Oil.

          ***The verdict****
          Verdict? I like my nail products a lot, and I've tried other brands which are all OK but this is the best and has become one my daily 'must haves'... Be warned though, it's addictive, once you start using Solar Oil you won't be able to stop.

          **PS**
          I've just found this on ebay, it comes as a balm too which is better for travelling so will be getting some of that to try pronto!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

            A cult product with good reason!

            My Review:
            The product is a pale yellow oil with a subtle almond scent. I find this product sinks into the skin extremely well and I use it on my elbow sometimes when the skin gets very dry.

            I use this product by painting it on my cuticles and leaving it for 10 minutes and then I use an orange stick to push back my cuticles. I then wash my hands thoroughly with soap prior to applying any nail polish so that any residual oil doesn't affect the polish.

            Background:
            I purchased this product about 4 months ago and I use it perhaps once a week.

            Packaging:
            The product comes in an oval shaped bottle with fairly flat sides which I find makes it easier to hold as its a slim shape. The brush handle is long and easy to handle. The brush itself is slim so you don't pick up too much product and you can apply it precisely. You buy the bottle by itself and there is no unnecessary outer packaging which I like.

            Price:
            The product is available at around £5.50, you might struggle to find a stockist in the UK but it can usually be found on auction sites. You get 15ml of product which will last you a long time so I think this is good value for money.

            Creative Nail Design (CND for short) has been going since 1979. They produce professional nail care products to the beauty industry all over the world.
            Their mission is to provide the beauty industry with everything they need in nail care.
            They are very committed to making the best treatments and have won many awards for their products. All there research in their state of the art laboratory.
            CND support nail technicians all the way with their training.

            CND also sell:

            ~ Hand and Body (Sensations washes and Sensations Lotions)
            Solar Oil is a synergistic bend of naturally light oils and Vitamin E. Solar Oil is designed to penetrate deeply into your skin and nail bed protecting the nails while making them strong and protecting the surrounding skin giving hydration and long lasting moisture.

            Jojoba oil carries the Vitamin E deeply into skin and helps to reduce visible signs of ageing also helping to keep skin soft and supple. Keeping your natural and nail enhancements in good condition.
            The product also has Sweet Almond Oil, which helps to condition nails.
            Solar Oil is one of CND's best selling products and has won endless amounts of awards including Life Time Achievement Award.
            It helps to promote natural nail growth and is good for enhancements as it helps to stop them drying out and peeling.

            **TIP** A great tip is that Solar Oil is great to help nail polish dry quicker, simply apply a base coat, 2 thin coats of enamel, top coat and a drop or two of Solar Oil. Nail polish takes a long time to dry due to the oxygen in the air keeping the polish wet, when you apply a product like Solar Oil you are starving the polish of oxygen so it dries quicker and less likely to smudge in the process.
            Gently apply Solar Oil to the nail and surrounding skin and rub the Solar Oil onto the polish and surrounding skin and leave to soak in for a few minutes, keep gently rubbing it into your nails every so often.
            Solar Oil usually comes in a 15ml bottle, but does come in bigger sizes. Theses are normally for qualified nail technicians only unless you can get one from a salon who sells Creative Nail Design.

            If you are a qualified nail technician you can purchase any CND products from http://www.cnd.com otherwise a salon will stock CND and you can purchase from them.
            There are sellers on eBay selling CND products. If you choose to buy from them please be careful as it could be fake or gone off.
            You can also buy from Internet sites, but make sure they are reliable.
            The 15ml solar oil bottle looks like any normal nail polish with a brush for application. The bigger sizes Solar Oil 68ml for example is a round glass bottle with a pipette for easy dispense of product.
            Solar Oil should smell sweet with a virgin olive oil type smell. You can tell if you Solar Oil have gone off as the smell isn't pleasant and you would want to take your nose from the bottle.
            Colour varies between harvests of Solar Oil but Solar Oil is a lovely golden colour, to white all having the same properties.

            Solar Oil just doesn't come in an oil form as I find oil are hard work especially when travelling or applying it on the move. CND have also created Solar Balm. Solar Balm has all the same jammed packed ingredients as original Solar Oil but in a balm form that comes packed in a handy travel size gold tin of 9g. Solar Balm is meant to be thicker in consistency like a lip balm and I find harder to sink into the skin and nails. It is blended to be richer, which is fantastic if your nails and skin that are super dry and nothing seems to work.
            I purchased Solar Oil a while ago now because the skin around my nails and cuticles were always peeling, dry and in bad condition. I have bought other cuticle oils and lotions in the past and thought this just made the problem worse even thought I was applying through the day.

            My nails have always been in fairly good condition but I am occasionally subjected to peeling nails and I heard Solar Oil also helps with this and help to condition and hydrate them.
            Ever since I was introduced to Solar Oil with regular use my nails haven't peeled, I feel they are more hydrated, growing lovely and are healthier. I no longer have dry; peeling skin at all I now have nails I am proud to show off. I have had friends and family who have commented on how lovely my nails are. I now wear nail varnish in all colours as I just want to show them off.
            Once applied it doesn't feel like you think a oil would. At first it does feel a little greasy but skink in quickly unlike other oils that just sit on to the top.

            I apply a tiny amount of Solar Oil every time I wash up as the detergent can damage nails and cuticles causing them to dry them out. So I apply it every time to condition them. I also apply it last thing at night to condition them as I sleep. I wake up with lovely hydrated nails and skin.
            The best thing about Solar Oil is it is not just for nails and surrounding skin. It can be used on all areas of the body that is dry, lips, elbows, knees, hands, feet, anywhere.

            It really is a multi-tasking life saver.

They are originally an American company, who are now just as popular all over the world, including the UK. They are one of the most popular and I must say the best brand of products for hands, feet and nails in the industury. If you go to salons quite regularly or are in the beauty industury, it is likely you will have heard or even used Creative Nail Design. I use their products for all things hands, feet and nails and will never use anything else as I know the standards of other products don't even come close.

            What is Solar Oil?
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Solar Oil is a synergistic blend of four naturally light essential oils along with Vitamin E, it is designed to deeply penetrate and protect both natural and acrylic nails as well as your skin. It comes in a more liquidous form than other oils like massage oils and cooking oils.
            Solar Oil contains Jojoba Oil which helps Vitamin E penetrate deeply into the skin, this prevents cellular damage and eliminates visible signs of aging, so is good to start using whilst young. Jojoba Oil penetrates Rice Bran Oil and Sweet Almond Oil into natural nails and acrylic nails and this keeps them tough and flexible. Repeated use drives oils penetrates to product deeper into your nails and skin therefore maximizing the benefits and preventing problems.
            SolarOil has won the Best Cuticle Oil for the third year running in the prestigious In-Style 2008 Best Beauty Awards which gives it the cult Hall of Fame recognition.
            Use and Effects
            ~~~~~~~~~~~

            It is recommended for use on natural nails to keep them looking and feeling healthy as it promotes healthy nail growth. It is also a must have for acrylic or gel nails as it helps to prevent them from drying out and lifting. It helps your natural nail underneath remain strong and healthy. When you get acrylic nails done at a salon, it takes 24 - 48 hours for the product to fully cure, even though it feels dry immediately. If you regularly get yours done, you will know what I am talking about, and if you don't I'm sorry it seems like I'm babbling about nothing! You should use Solar Oil three to four times in the first 24 hours of getting your nails done, which will keep oxygen out of the product, which is what can cause those nasty air bubbles in the acrylic and it also results in faster cure rates which in the long run results in longer lasting nails. After a while when you have acrylic on your nails, it can lift up at the edges, this is due to the plate no longer receiving oil and moisture from the nail bed. When your dried out plate comes in contact with water or moisture, it sucks it up, making the plate expand, the plate then dries out and contracts and the plate then begins peeling and looses its shape, pulling away from the nail that it's attached to and this then results in cracking and breaking. Solar Oil prevents this from happening, all from just using it a few times a day on the nails. Solar Oil also ensures the the acrylic nail remains strong and flexible. Solar Oil is designed to penetrate through the acrylic or gel to act as a shock absorber and a lubricant for the product, stopping it breaking or lifting.

            I use this on my own nails, which I have acrylic nails on and also where I work at a beauty salon and always apply it to a clients nails after a manicure and pedicure to make sure the nail is rehyrated and kept healthy. I also always use it on clients with acrylic or gel nails and recommend them to purchase it, and any client who has, is always coming back and agrees that it really makes a difference to not having it and think it's fantastic.

            The bottle looks quite similar to a nailvarnish bottle and you apply it with a brush that looks like that of a nail varnish brush, so it is very simple to use, and unlike nailvarnish, you don't have to worry about it going past the area you meant to apply it to. You should apply it to your nails as much as you can, preferably at least twice daily. You could apply it as many times as you want, but try and aim for at least that. Apply it to your cuticles and rub into the rest of your nail. You could even use this to massage with. It can also be used on an dry areas on your body as it has a high moisture content it is fabulous for dry areas, you can even use it on your lips to prevent or relieve chapping or dryness. The best time to use Solar Oil is before going to bed so the oil can really penetrate. It is also good to use 10 minutes before getting into water to help seal the nail plate to prevent moisture absorbing.

            When you apply it to your nails, it doesn't feel greasy or drip off. If you have severe dryness you can apply extra and wait for it to absorb, but this will obviously feel a little greasy straight away. Solar Oil absorbs quickly into your skin, and immediately leaves your skin and nails feeling soft, supple and smooth. It really hydrates your skin and instantly relieves any tight feeling your skin may have due to dryness. Due to the content of Sweet Almond Oil, it smells delicious, just like marzipan, is the only way I can describe it. I am allergic to nuts including almonds, but somehow I am not allergic to this product, which I am so pleased about! Solar Oil will shrink back your cuticle making it more soft and supple all the while helping to prevent hangnails, which can cause soreness to some people, if left.

            Price & Availability
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Solar Oil comes in a variety of sizes: 1/8 fl. oz. (236 mL) 0.25 fl. oz. (7.3 mL) 0.5 fl. oz. (15 mL). The picture shown is the 15ml one. The largest one is a salon size and the smaller two are usually sold in salons to customers. The large on can be purchased for about £34.00, but this trade price and the smaller ones are sold ranging from £5-15, also depending where it is purchased from. You can buy Solar Oil from any salon that uses Creative products or some sites on the internet also stock it, but these can prove quite costly. Unless you have a Creative trade account you will however be unable to purchase it directly from them, but this doesn't mean they don't want non-trade people to have it. Also if you are interested in this product Creative stock a similar product called SolarBalm, it is SolarOil but in the form of a balm, it works the same way but has deeper effects, so it's good to have both these products as they work well together.
            Conclusion
            ~~~~~~~~

            Solar Oil is truley a fantastic product that I would recommend to anyone, male or female who cares about the condition of their nails. I personally couldn't live without it and I know alot of my clients feel the same. It is very simple to use and really helps protect, restore and ensure your nails are kept at their healthiest. Although it is quite expensive, you only have to use a small amount so it lasts a long time, I would say a small one for a client using it only, would last at least 6 months, so when you think of it that way it isn't too much at all. There are other similar products on the market but they just don't work the same, you pay for what you get in my opinion.
