Well done for a celeb creating something this fab for us pale skinned lasses!

I have long been a huge fan of red lipsticks and worn them on and off for years. However I am incredibly pale skinned and feel that although I really do like a bright red shade on my lips that it is hard work for me to wear as I find myself trying to dab the colour in and stuff so it doesn't appear so bright and it kind of defeats the object then of wearing it at all!

My preferred brand of make up is Max Factor and at almost 39 years of age you'll see more items from their range currently in my make up collection than anything else and the red lipstick that I was using prior to buying this one was from their range. I am happy with the quality and longevity of the Max Factor lipstick and am kind of brand loyal so when on Amazon looking for red lipstick I was hoping to find another from their range that might suit.....but it wasn't meant to be and the one that I was using I simply thought was a bit too bright!

Typing in red lipstick though into the search bar on Amazon after looking through Max Factor products I found plenty to choose from and that is when I came across Dainty Doll By Nicola Roberts. I remember the range being launched in 2010 by the ex Girls Aloud member but I didn't pay too much attention to it at the time though as I don't like celebrity endorsed or made things and I tend to think what does a singer know about perfume (unless that person is Victoria Beckham in which case I love all her perfumes and make a big exception for her stuff!) but I do remember that this cosmetic range was launched for pale skinned people because Nicola herself is very pale skinned and with ginger hair and had always struggled not only with her appearance but getting make up right. However I was personally put off by the whole celeb thing that surrounded the range and when I did see the prices felt they were way too high anyway and simply never bothered with it.

However moving on in time the range doesn't seem to be that successful really. I haven't seen in stocked anywhere and the only place I have seen it on sale is on Ebay or Amazon and the prices are rather low. I spotted a colour from the Dainty Doll Range for just £2.15 with a p+p of £1.99 and according to Amazon alone the lipstick has an rrp of £10.35 and the colour I chose is Saucy Sailor and other colours are available and I saw about 5 other shades from very pale pinks to very deep reds and all are around about the same price as I paid give or take a pound or two.

      The Packaging:

The lipstick comes in an oblong box and on the front of it there is a doll like picture shown with a shock of orange hair and we are told in gold writing that it it Dainty Doll and then in discreet smaller writing at the side of it Nicola Roberts name appears and then on the back of the box other information listed includes being told a bit about the product and the ingredients are listed and contact details for the manufacturer are given. The lipstick itself comes in a sort of matt, black plastic tube casing again with the words in gold telling down the side of it that it is Dainty Doll, Nicola Roberts and on the base of it the number of the lipstick shade is given (in my case 002) and that is simply it. To use the lipstick you simply pull off the lid part and twist the lipstick up to which the lipstick is held into the case by matching to the writing gold section. No size is given on the packaging to the size, me I would say it isn't as chunky or as large as a lot of standard lipsticks on the market at the moment but it isn't tiny either and my only quibble with the information on this lipstick is that if I wanted to reorder it I would look for name Saucy Sailor however if you have a few lipsticks from this range it could be a bit difficult to know what your trying to order as all the lipsticks have on them are numbers and Amazon goes on names! However keep the box as the number and name of the lipstick are on it and that's what I shall be doing!

      The Lipstick:

I won't lie I bought this as an experiment, I had a couple of quid spare and didn't expect very much from it at all but what can I say....this lipstick is fabulous darling!

Nicola Roberts has comes up with a grown up, classy offering here and I quite simply adore this lipstick and can't get over the price I paid for it! Enriched with moisturising meadow foam seed oil to help igve the perfect pout and natural plant wax and Vitamin E not only is this lovely to apply its lovely to wear.

My lips are almost 39 years old and sadly they have lost alot of definition over the years. I smoke so I have little lines appearing and usually I need to use a lipliner but seriously not with this. With most lipsticks I own I have to apply, blot, apply blot...you know the way girls but not with this! I apply and go...its that simple. No lip liner, no blotting...no anything just a quick whizz over my lips with this and I'm good to go!

It applies smooth like a dream, feels moisturising when on and I can really simply define my lips with this straight out of the tube. Yes I get a little transfer say if drinking or kissing to start with so I can have a wee blot if I want to but I don't bother if I'm only say drinking as it naturally gets blotted anyway and sinks the colour into my lips, it really isn't a big problem. It feels kind on my lips and not one bit greasy as it isn't highly glossy and the colour is superb, in fact if feels very gently creamy on but still doesn't squidge anywhere. This colour is a red but not a really heavy one but well, it really is red but without the gloss look but it isn't matt either just very slightly glossy hence the small bit of transfer you get. Once I have applied it, it stays put about 3 hours, good wear from any lipstick I think and on it just looks so classy and I get comments on it to which I reply you'll never guess who this is by....!

This is the perfect lipstick for me. Its high quality for a low price, easy to use and quite simply a wonderful buy for a woman of any age in my opinion and I just can't rave about it enough, I really can't so well done Nicola Roberts with not only not plastering your name all over something but making a truly remarkable make up product!
