Advantages: colour, staying power , packaging

Disadvantages: none

I first spotted this new series of Addict lip glosses about a year ago. I'm always on the lookout for new and unusual colours as I'm admittedly a bit narrow minded. This whole "pink craze" brings out the rebel in me, and it seems that by avoiding pink you're only left with 20% of possible shades to choose from. Red seems too special for everyday use, though I'm not shy about wearing it. This shade (537 Stretchy Brown) caught my eye with it's two contrasting colours. It is a natural brown with contrasting pink/ purple glitter particles. (Yes, I know, but it doesn't look pink, more like some car paints create a bi-colour effect.)

I was very ready to try something of better quality than some others. I know that a brand name doesn't guarantee quality but supposedly you get what you pay for.
Even some glosses from other "reasonable quality" brands had proved lousy. Some leave a smudge around your mouth, others make their way onto your teeth, still others simply vanish without the least input from yourself.

This new series promises a lighter texture compared to previous Addict glosses, a "magnifying glass" plumping effect (both visually and literally) and great staying power. I haven't tried any previous Dior lip glosses and comment on how they compare.
As far as I'm aware the tube and box are very much like all previous ones, though the lid can vary in colour, gold, silver, blue or a combination. This one is blue with a silver knob. The box is the usual holographic silver, like the original Addict perfume.

The truth is that one can only expect so much from a liquid texture. If you brush against it with your hand, it will come off. Anything else is unrealistic. With that in mind, I'm very impressed by this product. The gloss seems to contain a lot of pigment. Even this relatively neutral shade doesn't require applying a big amount. It stays where you put it and for a long time. The first time I used it, I sort of kept an eye on the time it would last. I applied it in the early afternoon, and it stayed on during a couple of drinks and dinner later at night. I didn't need to reapply once, there was enough left to use makeup remover on it.
Wind, hair and lip gloss can be a problematic combination. So I avoid using it before leaving the house, but apply it once I arrive somewhere.

On the whole I'm very happy. I paid £16 at House of Fraser. It may seem like a lot for lip gloss. But in view of the enjoyable use of it and how little one needs, it seems very worth it. There are cheaper prices online, but I like the shopping experience at Fraser's. There is also a point system that gives buyers vouchers. In the long run this can lower the prices of things a bit.
I won't list all the available shades, ciao has put them into separate listings individually. I would definitely recommend this, and I will have to get at least one other colour soon.

PS Another plus point is that it's fragrance and flavour free. I always wear perfume and don't like cosmetics distracting me with their own smells.

Summary: my favourite lip gloss
