I've heard loads of great things about this foundation so I was really excited to try it. I have seen this foundation used two ways - spraying it directly to the skin or using a brush. I applied this product with a brush so I didn't waste any of the product or get any in my hair since I'm a blonde. The packaging is really nice and luxurious but it is quite tall so I had to lie it down in my drawer. This foundation comes in 10 different shades which I don't really think is a wide enough variety. Dior air flash foundation is describe as the first revolutionary spray foundation that brings airbrushed perfection to your daily make up routine. It has very good coverage and it covered my imperfections straight away. I think that using a brush makes the application of this product more precise. When I first put it on, it looked so good and the finish is very nice and natural. It isn't super full coverage as you can still see my freckles on my nose through it which I like but it is definitely buildable. I would say if it is sprayed on from like a distance it is light coverage and if you use a brush you can built it up to a full coverage. My concealer went onto the foundation really nicely and it didn't move the foundation. The one problem I have with this foundation is it sinks into the lines in my face where I have moved my face. It doesn't catch onto the dry patches I have ion my face unlike most other foundations I have tried. My usual everyday foundation is the Estee Lauder Double Wear but that one looks weird in pictures with a flash because of the spf in it but the Dior foundation still looks good in pictures with a flash which is another advantage to this foundation. The foundation lasts amazingly but it does feel quite dry and like tight so it might not work so well for someone with dry skin. It doesn't go shiny but the coverage does fade slightly throughout the day but this could be because I don't use primers. It looks really flawless and airbrushed so it definitely lives up to its claims.
I remember when this foundation was released and what publicity it received. Everyone was looking for an airbrush look and wanted to look flawless and we still do. Estée Lauder tried to go into competition with Dior by offering airbrushing on counter by using their airbrush machine and one of their selected foundations. However Dior won the race as everyone wanted the airbrush effect from the comfort of their home or anywhere else.
This revolutionary foundation spray is in a small cylinder design with a dark blue lid. Open the lid to reveal the spray and instead of dispersing the foundation on your hand, spray it directly on the face. Reach your arm fully out and then bend your arm to create a 90 degrees angle, close your eyes and then spray it directly to your face whilst doing a very light zig zag motion.
I felt my skin fully covered without the caked feeling. It felt smooth (this is because it has glycerine) and light on the skin and I felt fresh by its cooling sensation. The smell was sweet and pleasant.
It has right reflecting pigments, so instantly the skin looked radiant and even toned. You can build up the look, so if you want a light finish then do one light spray and of course if you want to keep building up then keep spraying.
Firstly cause it sprays the foundation it can get on your clothes, so I recommend putting a towel around your neck and shoulders.
When you do spray the product please make sure you close your eyes. Once sprayed it will be on your eyebrows, eyelashes and lips, which initially will make you look like a ghost. With a wet tissue or with a bit of cleanser, wipe it off your eyebrows and lips. You can leave the foundation on the lips if you wish, as when you add lipstick on to your lips the colour of the lipstick will show up and look more intense. For your eyelashes I would definitely recommend coating the lashes thoroughly. If you do not like wearing mascara then wet you fingertips and lightly rub your eyelashes between your fingertips to remove the foundation.
The foundation sometimes needs to be blended, to do this just pat into the areas that need attention and add a little bit of foundation to your fingertip to reach areas like the back of the nose if it has not been covered from the initial spray.
The other thing I found with this product is that it ran out very quickly compared to most foundations, so if you are a rare to light user then you will be fine but for people who use foundations regularly or a lot then I will recommend using something as a base and then to finish off with Airflash.
The foundation also claims that it conceals fine lines, I would like to add that it didn't make much of a difference.
I know I have added more disadvantages to this product than advantages but I will not like to discourage anyone from buying it as the overall finish is great and worth the aggravation.
Butane, Aqua (Water), Cyclopentasiloxane, Propane, Nylon-12, Cocoglycerides, Sodium Lactate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Glycerin, Caprylyl Dimethicone Ethoxy Glucoside, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Aluminum/Magnesium Hydroxide Stearate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Silica, Sodium Chloride, Methylparaben, Potassium Sorbate, Propylparaben, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Parfum (Fragrance), Zinc Stearate, Zea Mays (Corn) Oil, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Tocopherol, Benzyl Salicylate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hydroxycitronellal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene, Carboxaldehyde, Citronellol.
If you would like to have an over all picture perfect look, apply Skinflash/YSL Touche Eclat or any other Radiance Pen around the eye areas and face to give that added radiance. Finish off with a pressed/loose powder to set the make up. All you need now is to carry your Radiance pen and pressed powder for a touch up during latter hours.
You can purchase this product at £32.50 at most department stores or can be bought online directly from Debenhams.com or from Boots.com. If you are going to be buying online please check in store to match your colour first or go to Dior.co.uk and look for the shades presented there.
This is by far my favourite ever beauty product.
I first saw this foundation when I was about 15 or 16 (am now 20!) and the snobby woman at the counter happily pointed out that it cost £26.00 which was how much I had on me to last me the whole shopping trip! I still enjoyed spraying it on my hand nevertheless, and watching the gorgeous foundation turn my hand in to a beautifully smooth, even colour. I loved the spray bottle - amazing idea for a foundation.
Just after Christmas I thought I would treat myself and ventured in to John Lewis, where the woman behind the counter was very helpful, showing me which colour would best suit me.
There are four shades to choose from - the lightest being very very fair, the darkest being almost orange. I was second from last and it suits my skin tone fabulously. The woman taught me how to apply, and said to use a foundation brush for the first few times whilst I'm getting used to it. It turns out I didnt really need the foundation brush, I found it pretty easy to use straight away. Make sure your hair is pulled back out of your face to avoid orange hair, and you have to give your eyebrows a quick wipe afterwards.
The first few times I used this foundation I used it very lightly over the top of my usual foundation to give me a gorgeous 'dewy' look. It turns skin flawless & makes you feel a million dollars. It definitely gives the hollywood look to your make up :)
This foundation is absoloutely perfect but at £30 a bottle it doesn't come cheap. I only use it on extra special occasions otherwise it would last me about a week!
4.5 out of 5. the only reason it's not a five is because of the price :(
I had previously used Dior products in the past but never tried their foundations. As i work in a cosmetics department i thought it was high time i gave one a bash. Airflash had just came out when i tried it and i loved it instantly! It's a versatile product which gives a flawless finish everytime. I personally like to use it to set my make up as i find it gives that airbrushed perfect skin look and makes my foundation last all night
(even when i've been dancing the night away). It's also great on it's own as you can build it up to the coverage you want making it handy for taking your make-up look from day to night. Fantastic for use during the summer as it can give you that light coverage that's more desired during the warmer months. It never feels heavy or cakey on and i actually found it very comforting on my skin which is something that is very important to me. I suffer from eczema and the wrong foundation can cling to my skin and make me want to claw it off, something i thankfully didn't suffer from with Airflash! When i first used it don't get me wrong it freaked me out a little as it just didn't feel right spraying on my foundation and i'm not gonna lie it got a little messy lol. I quickly adapted though and found the easiest way to apply was to cover my top and hair with some tissue to avoid any exess foundation going all over the place. Like everything else you get used to it and find your own technique and now for me it's two ticks and the jobs done! I admit the price can seem a little off putting but in my opinion definately worth it! I've had mine for quite some time and still have a fair bit left in it. I don't use it everyday though so you will have to take that into consideration when going to purchase it. Overall i love this product and the flawless finish i achieve with it i have went on to try other Dior foundations but always come back to old reliable Airflash. Hope this helps :)
I have used this foundation after I thought i'd treat myself for a friends wedding. I thought it may end up a disaster and would be difficult to use but it is not.
It is suprisingly easy to get an even coat and the mist appears to come out evenly and with no mess. Once on the skin you lightly brush it to ensure that you get an even look and I chose to layer it slightly on my problem skin.
The coverage is very good and most of my blemishes were covered with this foundation, just use a little concealer as usual and you really do look as though you have great skin!
The make up did stay on my skin well through the day, although it is not really possible to re-apply when not in the house which may be a problem for some people. It works best when you are applying your make up and not for retouches.
The colour I had was lovely and worked well with my skin, it is possible to blend with your skin well so you do not look as though you are cakes in make up and for those just wanting a light coverage would love this.
Let me start by saying I LOVE DIOR!
I don't usually use foundation as I have tanned skin and don't feel the need to cover it with foundation. The only time I use foundation is when I'm going on a night out and making an effort.
I purchased Diorskin Airflash as I saw it as an easy way to apply foundation without a hassle of powder and it getting everywhere.
This foundation comes in 3 shades:
It's so simple to use, you shake before use, and spray on the area you'd like to cover. I tend to blend it with my fingers, as I get a better feel for it on my skin, but you can use a foundation brush. Once sprayed it goes on as a light mist on the skin. It feels very smooth on my skin and it covers the dark circles under my eyes perfectly while at the same time covers any redness around the base of my nose. It provides total coverage without making your skin look covered and caked with foundation, it's a very light and matte finish.
It has no SPF protection, so if you're a lighter shade and would like to use it on holiday you will have to put on a SPF moisturiser.
When spraying you have to be careful as it might get on your clothes if not at the right angel.
This is my ultra wonder product and i reccomend it sooo much!! I tend to use liquid or cream foundations and really didnt like any of the powder ones I had used but as I have combination skin towards the end of the night it was as if my make up had slid and I would have a slighlty oily forehead...lovely!!! I would never of spent £32 on a foundation but now i'd rather pay extra for the results. I used my friends first and although the colour didnt suit me I was amazed at how flawless my skin looked... through the whole night and when I got home I was still flawless. I was a bit wary buying it as I thought foundation in a can would not last that long but I bought it august '09 and it is still going strong... I only use this product on a night out though! It leaves skin looking healthy, flawless, smooth and honestly like youv had a pro make over! You need to invest in a foundation brush though as when you spray it on you need to smooth around the eye area and also dont apply it after doing your hair make sure you tie it back and put a band on as the colour will stick to your hair!! I do recomend to still put concealer and a foundation primer under it but it is still an amazing product even if you didnt.
When i went to prom, the lady at the dior counter used the 'dior skin air flash foundation' on me as she thought it was the best foundation that dior did. she was right. Not only did it make my skin look completely flawless, but it lasted ALL night! and being prom, it was a really eventful busy night - i was really surprised. Because this foundation is a spray it is easy to apply (althought you have to be very careful not to get your hair skin coloured) but the fact it is a spray makes the product easy to apply and it spreads evenly, whereas if you use a foundation that needs applying with your hands, a sponge or a brush then it often goes onto your skin patchy and leaves you with a line under your chin - which isnt a very attrative look in anyones book!
Although being dior it is pricey and doesnt last very long!
I came across Dior Airflash a few years ago admired it whenever I went into cosmetic and department stores but never bought the product as it is around the £30 mark and couldn't really afford to spend that much on foundation.I ended up buying it finally, and I loved it.
I tend to not use it on its own in the evening,I put it on top of my usual foundation and I find that it give a flawless finish. In the daytime I wear it as my main foundation and it gives great light, even coverage. It comes in a range of colours and is so easy to use.Spray on,sometimes it may to be rubbed in slightly but as long as it has been shaken before use it should just be as easy as spray on and go.
Can be bought from most department stores and in a range of sizes.
Although it is expensive I think it is well worth the money and seems to last for a while.
I am not a great fan of make up and hardly use anything, lip gloss and nothing else is more my style. I have tried many foundations, but they never looked good so I just gave up.
A couple of years ago I was buying a present for a friend of mine and was given a tester of Airflash and ever since I was hoocked. It is the most expensive product in my draw, but it is worth every penny. When I can't afford to buy it, I ask my husband or friends to get it for me for my birthday/Christmas/Valentines.
It is very light, does not give you that clogged pores look, the colour is very natural. In fact, I don't think you can even notice the foundation as such, it evens out your skin an gives it a radiant look, without you having an obviously made up face.
I don't apply too much of it, I tend to spray a circle and then spread it across the whole face by using my fingers. Some prefer to use a brush or a sponge, but I once heard some famous make up artist give her advice and it was to always use your fingers as the foundation gently warms up because of the heat in your fingers and spreads more evenly, so have been always doing that.
I tend to use the spray 2-3 times a week and it lasts me for 10-12 months, so if you think how many applications you get from one can - it is definitely good value for money.
I usually never wear liquid foundations as I think they look too cakey- so I go for powders instead. I was interested in this product because to me it's like airbush in a can! The packaging is very classy looking- but then I would expect that from Dior and also because I'm spending so much.
I use this by spraying a z then w motion quickly and then using a flat topped brush to blend it all in. I think the key to getting a good airbushed look with this is to blend with a brush afterward. The product itself is very light on the skin and extremely soft to the touch. I was quite impressed- it gives you brilliant coverage and makes it look as though you have naturally gorgeous skin- not something anyone would not want! I think this is a top performance product, a little expensive but one can (if used once every day) lasts about 3 and a half months so I'd say it's worth the money and for the finish it gives, it surpasses most expectations easily. I wouldn't recommend this to young girls becuase it does take a little while to get used to and you do need to spend a little time blending in, so in that case it isn't very practical if you don't like to spend time blending although it doesn't take long. Also, I really like that for travel purposes this won't drip (like liquid foundation) or risk being cracked (like powder compacts).
This foundation gives a really dewy look to skin. It seems to be hard to colour- match perfectly for a truly natural look, but the overall appearance of skin is so lovely a minor tone change is forgivable.
A can does not last very long so its not exactly an economic option for every day, but for evenings and special occasions it is unbeatable.
I found a morning application lasted all through a working day and if I was going out straight from work it was easy to revamp my foundation without starting from scratch.
Airflash comes off easily with basic skin cleaning routines and did not cause any irritation or acne break outs. I used Mac Prep and Prime to give it a good surface to cling to but it also worked well on unprimed skin. Dior may make a similar base product which could give it even greater longevity.
So Peeved...Tested Dior Airflash Foundation today...looks flawless..feels amazing but has an orange tint to it! why oh why lol. I am fair, not pale in any sense and used the lightest one shade 200. Seriosuly one spray covers your enitre face leaving it airbrushed, flawless, like silk, doesnt get oily all day, yet the second I stood in my bright bathroom light notice a HUGE difference from my face to my neck and chest. Leaves such an orange tint for no reason in the light. im sorry but for $60 a can and from DIOR I expect way more. Sadly not my hg as I had hoped leaving me looking like those rediculously tan girls who go overboard and have burnt orange skin and bleach blonde hair....scary and unhuman lol! I really wanted to like this for it working so easily and being so conveneint in a spray and wasting less product but horrible color options. I am definitely now going to try the dupe for this aka Sally Hansen Carmindy Airbrush Spray Foundation at $13 a bottle and crossing my fingers it will leave my skin feeling jsut as nice without the whole oompa loompa tint to it!!!! lol
I love this foundation, its definately one of the better ones! I often struggle with foundations as I have combination skin so my foundation tends to go dry in certain areas, however, with this it feels so light and soft and doesnt have that "caked on" feeling!
It also produces even coverage so no tell tale lines or that "tango" look!
It lasts long as well I can easily wear it the whole day without needing to touch up.
The only downsides to it are the price, (anything from as high as £36 in some shops) it is a bit on the pricey side for most and for some the spray/mist action might not be liked as you have to close your eyes and spray it on, personally I dont have a problem with it!
I would recommend searching for it online as you will get it cheaper online than in the shops!
Perfect foundation for a really flawless finish and look!
Being a model I regularly have my hair and makeup done for me and it bugs me when I cannot get anywhere near the results the pros do.
Recently when having my makeup done for a shoot the girl doing it used a spray foundation that seemed simple to use and gave great results.
After my shoot I asked her what the foundation was that she had used because foundation is my nemesis, I can never find a foundation that I can apply that looks anywhere near decent and does not go flaky.
Turns out the foundation she had used was Diorskin Airflash Spray Foundation from the superb Christian Dior company, priced at £31.99 online I was in some doubt as to whether or not I would splash out on it but as time went by I just had to have some.
I found that I could use it almost as simply as the makeup artist had after a few tries and it really does look very natural when compared to other foundations and does not flake or leave your skin feeling dry so it really is worth the money in my opinion.
The other thing I really liked about it is that you do not feel like you are wearing foundation at all as it goes on so lightly and even in hot weather or hot indoor places you do not get the clogged pore feeling or the tight skin that often goes with cheap foundations.
I have now found this in a few places at just under the thirty pound mark and will certainly be using it again, I really do not think I could go back to a cheaper stick or cream foundation now and the feeling I get when people comment on how good my skin looks and some not even realising I am wearing foundation makes it worth its price alone for me!
