I always buy new products I very rarely keep using the same products just because I like to try new things and have a change around all the time. This Dior pencil retails at £16.50 which yes is very expensive for a crayon. It comes with a sharpener but most of us have a sharpener so it really doesn't make up for the price. I suspect that it's this price due to it being branded by Dior. This can be found at any shop like House of Fraser and Boots at their cosmetic counters or online. If you are buying from either of those shops you can get points cards for both stores so it may be £16.50 but you can get plenty of points for buying it which is possibly one of the only positive points about this product.
The liner itself is more gel like than crayon like is suggested in the name. Crayons I have found when sharpened can be quick prickly at first touch and having sensitive eyes that isn't what I want to feel first thing in the morning but like I said to my surprise this is more gel like which makes it softer and easier to manipulate the types of lines, thickness and smudging effects.
I never have a specific way of doing my eye make up, I just do whatever depending on how I feel on that day and to be honest it isn't that often that I wear crayon liners I usually wear liquid eyeliner but pencils are easier to out line the corners of my eyes and sometimes do faint lines under my bottom lash line. I found when applying under my lash line this went on quite smoothly but when doing the corners of my eye this didn't give a precise sharp line and I suspect this is due to the product being a squishy gel.
Due to the nature of this product it means I have to sharpen almost every time before using it because the tip flattens so easily. In the end I gave up using it and ended up using it as an eyebrow pencil to help fill in my gaps because my eyebrows are so naturally dark this was perfect and it meant I wasn't constantly sharpening and binning £16.50 away really fast. With the exception of the points on the card and it becoming an eyebrow pencil, this products wipes off almost instantly with wet wipes, no fuss or mess and straight to a clean face however, I feel that as an eyeliner this product is pretty poor in comparison with other considerably cheaper brands and this isn't something I would put on my to get again list.
Finding a good eye liner is a bit of a challenge as I want one that can blend easily but I want it to last. Some eye liner comes off so easily; I blink and it dissolves on my face! If I go on a night out I do want to look like a panda by the end of the night, I want my make up to stay and last all night. I bought the Dior eye liner and I certainly did not regret buying it. My pockets felt very light afterwards but it is a great eye liner and a good investment.
==Price and availability==
The eyeliner costs around £16.50 and I bought it from Boots so I could earn my advantage card points too.
The eyeliner comes in a posh box with its own sharpener. I love buying posh eye liner as you always get a new sharpener which is a bonus. The eye liner is silver with shiny lids on either side. One end is the pencil and the other is a sponge tip to blend with. This is the most irritating thing about eye liners. A thin hard sponge tip is useless and does nothing but pull the eyeliner straight off and pull on your eye lid. The pencil end of the liner is wood but it is soft rubbery wood so when you sharpen it you always get a smooth finish with no splinters. The pencil is gel like so it glides on the skin without too much pushing on.
The eye liner is brilliant and with a delicate hand you can leave a fantastic straight line that can be so thin you can hardly see it or bold and thick to make a statement. It is easy to work with and you do not need much pressure for the colour to be transferred. I have a black eyeliner and it can be used to create some very dramatic looks. It is easy to apply and it blends well if you do not want a harsh black line. I often wear my make up for long periods of time and this eye liner lasts really well on the skin. It does not run or disappear and if I apply it once, I will not need to touch it up at all unless I want to do something different with it. I love how easy it is to apply and with one fell swoop of the nip you can line the full lid. Because it is quite gel like and goes on the skin well, the end tends to wear down quickly so I do find myself sharpening it an awful lot with ultimately runs it out quicker. I often have to sharpen between each eye as I like a perfectly sharp end. However, because you only need to apply it once, this does not matter so much and I would much rather find it easy to apply then be scratching away at my eye lid with a really hard pencil.
To conclude, yes this is expensive but it looks really good. You get such a definitive black line that it looks like liquid liner, yet it is much easier to apply! This is well recommended.
