“ Brand: Dior / Type: Eyeshadow „
This Christian Dior eye shadow was a gift off my mother over a year ago which I was very grateful for.
She tends to buy me eye shadows for birthdays and Christmases and doesn't always get it right I have to say, but this was a perfect present and was very much appreciated.
The man himself was a top French fashion designer who founded the brand in 1946 and it has been a hugely successful designer of clothes, make up and accessories ever since. It is said that Christian Dior revolutionised women's fashion following the war.
Impression Cuir - Leather Couture For The Eyes
The eye shadow comes in a beautiful deep blue and velvety cardboard box that fits the eye palette inside snugly and safely. Once you have taken the eye shadow out you find that it has its own little velvet pouch to house it in. This is a dark navy/black velvet pouch that oozes quality. The edges are stitched and the initials 'CD' are embossed on the front of the pouch. This keeps the eye shadow clean, safe and looking like new every time you use it
The eye shadow box is a tough durable plastic that is rectangular in shape. It is quite large with approximate dimensions of 8 cm x 7 cm and 1.5 cm deep. The box is a pearly dark blue that changes colour in the light and has Dior written in huge silver lettering across the top. To open the box you press the small button on the front and it divides in two to open.
Inside the box is your classic layout, a huge full length mirror on the top and your eye shadow on the bottom. The eye palette is ¾ the size of the case, with a small inlet across the bottom that houses the sponge brush. This is silver and is again embossed with 'Dior'. The eye palette is shielded by a plastic covering that clips on and off the palette, this keep the pressed powder safe and the mirror clean.
The eye shadow itself is a trio of colours that merge and blend into one piece from left to right. The shadows are brown, bronze and beige. Across the top of the colours is a sparkly gold topping that diminishes slightly with use as you wear down the shadows, however it still has a nice sparkle to it. The surface of the eye shadow is a crocodile pattern with Dior written in the bottom left. It looks really expensive and stylish.
The colours really complement each other and you can see this before you even apply the eye shadow. To apply I put a small amount of colour on my sponge and apply to my lids, you don't need to press hard at all because the eye shadows pigmentation is so strong and it is such a good quality pressed powder.
Depending on what you are doing - work, night out - you can use any or all of the colours to create the look that you want. I use the sparkly brown over the gold when I am on a night out and the lighter beige and gold for during the day. The shadows have a lovely satin texture to them and they look amazing and strong when applied. Their staying power is also excellent and once applied lasts all day.
My favourite part of these eye shadows is the sparkle, it is just the right amount making your eyes strong and impressive. They also blend together beautifully and easily, which means that you don't need to spend hours in front of the mirror, unless you just want to admire them.
This Dior set is quite old and was a limited edition at the time, but is available online on sites such as strawberry.net and makeupalley.com starting at £32. You get a huge 10g of eye shadow for this price and it really is of beautiful quality and fabulous colours which I feel justifies this price tag.
