I much prefer liquid eye liners to pencil, I find you can get a much more defined line with bolder colours. My usual Ruby and Millie eyeliner seemed to have been taken off sale when I needed a new one so I wandered around Boots looking for an alternative and decided to give this Dior Precision Eyeliner a try.
The Dior Precision Eyeliner comes in a lovely shiny black and gold cardboard box with silver writing on, a short description and the Dior branding across. The eyeliner itself looks very much like a felt tip pen, it is long, thin and rounded with approximate dimensions of 12 cm length and a 0.8 cm diameter. The liner pen is all black in colour, like the box it has silver branded writing across the side of the pen saying 'DIORLINER'. There are two nice strips of silver identifying where the lid is and the other on the twist mechanism that releases the liquid liner.
About three quarters of the way down the pen the cap comes off, this clicks on and off easily and is very secure so you do not have to worry about the lid coming off in your bag and ruining the tip of the liner. Before your first use the liner the tip bristles are pure white, which shows that the product is new and never before used. These are flexible and much like a nail varnish brush but softer. The bristles are just short of 1 cm, and shaped like a felt tip nib, thick at the base and thinner to the tip, which makes using and drawing precision lines very easy.
To release the liquid liner you twist the top of the pen, on first use this takes many turns and you wonder if it is ever going to come out! Once the brush has become coated in the liner you simply need to turn it two or three times to re-coat it, it is easy to keep track of this because on each full turn you hear a 'click' noise. Before each use you should shake the pen to make sure you get the optimum colour and to keep the liquid well mixed. Obviously if you turn it too many times the liquid can 'blob' on the tip and you get excess, unwanted eyeliner and uneven lines, so that is something I am always mindful of, as well as wasting good quality eyeliner.
This pen certainly lives up to its name, it gives you amazing precision lines on your eyes. I have the black colour and it gives a great solid and bold black line. The pen is really easy to apply and the long grip and stem of the pen gives you good accuracy. I do like this eyeliner and it gives great looking results.
Also available in Navy Blue and Brown.
The one drawback to this Dior product is the price, it costs £24 for 6ml of eyeliner. In its defense I use this (almost) everyday and have had it for at least 4 months, so overall it doesn't break down to being too expensive. This is available online and in stores with Dior counters such as Boots and Debenhams.
