moisturises and lasts all day, and there is a variety of colours

I am a big fan of Dior lipsticks as though they are pricey they usually do as they claim, and last a long time. This lipstick costs around 22pounds and is available in a variety of colours from deep, sexy reds, to more caramel tones and browns. I usually opt for quite a dramtic shade, as I am spending a lot on it, so want it to have an impact. The colour I usualyl wear is gipsy rouge, which is a deep red/brown.
The packaging is classic, with its navy casing, and silver band, with dior stitched detailing.
This lipstick claims to last all day and moisturise at the same time, which is usualyl hard to find in a lipstick, as the ones which do last all day can be quite drying on the lips, and look really dull by the end of the day. This lipstick lives up to its claims, and moisturises all day, and feels so soft on the lips. It glides on really easily, and feels like it plumps up the lips and makes you feel sexy. The colour looks dramatic, and vibrant and is really long lasting. Although it has a hefty price tag the lipstick is worth it, as it does last all day.

The ultimate lipstick combining staying power with moisturisation

Dior's "Rouge Dior" lipstick claims to be the ultimate in lipsticks, 'ultra brilliant, lusciously full, perfectly smooth, and wonderfully moist' lips. Quite a claim, given that lipsticks tend to either be long lasting and therefore drying, or moisturising and therefore have poor staying quality. Having both in one seems to be something of a Holy Grail!

The packaging is fairly understated but sophisticated - a traditional lipstick design, navy blue with the Dior stitch pattern and a classy silver band separating the base and the lid.

The formula is really creamy and just smoothes onto the lips beautifully and feels really velvety. Unlike many other lip products (even other Dior ones), it's so creamy that I find it doesn't dry out my lips, instead giving them that much needed bit of moisture. I find lots of lipsticks feel a bit grainy, and harsh on my lips, but this feels lovely and smooth, like you're not wearing anything at all. It lasts nicely - a good few hours which is pretty good in my opinion for a lipstick which doesn't claim to be super long lasting.

The colour I have is 759 Prize Pink which is a matte warm and deep mauvey pink and the slight blue tone to it suits my cool colouring perfectly - this is my 'perfect pink'. The lipstick is really highly pigmented and the colour looks really bold, but can be applied to look quite subtle, or more heavily to give a more glamorous look - very wintery, "just in from the cold" look. The coverage is great - there's no patchiness at all and your lips have an almost airbrushed look. Sadly this colour seems to now be discontinued so I will have to try to find a close match to it! Dior do produce a huge selection of colours in this range, mainly pinks and reds, so there's one to suit every skintone.

One thing to note is that it does have quite an old fashioned "lipstick" smell, which may sound odd, but it does have that typical smell I associate with lipsticks that seems to have disappeared from most modern products. It's not a nasty smell and it doesn't bother me, but worth noting if you like your products to have a good scent.

Price wise, this being Dior, is not cheap, retailing at £17.50 from Boots. If you hunt around you can find discount sellers - the cheapest I've found being www.cheapsmells.com where they sell for £12.95.

In all of the lipsticks I've tried, Dior "Rouge Dior" Lipstick is the best that I have come across, and that's saying something! I bought mine Duty free before a holiday about a year and a half ago and it has lasted until now which is pretty good going! I normally have at least 3 lipsticks on the go, but as this one is my favourite it was normally used most so a year and a half is pretty amazing and says quite a lot about its staying power!
