Advantages: feels lighter than air
Disadvantages: can cake and dry out skin
I am one of those unfortunate people who doesn't really have a set skin type. I guess you could call it more combination skin than anything but this does not mean I have a greasy 't-zone' and dry cheeks - oh no! I actually tend to get a dry nose and chin with cheeks which can be dry or oily, there appears to be no pattern.
As you can imagine, it can be quite difficult to find a foundation to suit my skin. I had heard many good things about dream matte mousse so I thought I would give it a go, even though I had tried other Maybelline products before and hadn't been impressed. Lucky for me I had a £10 Boots voucher so it wasn't like I was actually losing out really if it was no good.
So off down to Boots I went. The Mousse comes in an 18ml glass tub, which is so small it looks like it will last about 3 days and at a cost of £6.95 I did have second thoughts. But then I had third thoughts and decided to give it a go!
There seems to be a very limited variety in shades, though I don't know if this is just because I was in a small Boots or if Maybelline have not yet developed many but luckily the one I wanted was there.
I opened the tub to see what I was getting (the testers in store were a bit manky so I wanted to see the unused product).
I lightly ran my finger over the top of the solid seeming foundation and was pleasantly surprised to see that just by skimming the surface, you seemed to get quite a lot of foundation out, so maybe it would last quite long after all. The mousse felt just like that - err moussey. It was like sticking your finger in some angel delight, though I resisted the urge to taste it!
When I applied some to my face it felt amazing! It was like rubbing soft velvet onto my skin and it glided on effortlessly.upson closer inspection, however, I noticed that on my nose the foundation seemed to be a bit drying and as the days have gone on, I have noticed this more and more.
Around the cheek area the foundation is perfect. It goes on smoothly and looks flawless, but on drier areas it just aggravates the problem so a lot of moisturising/exfoliating is needed before applying to these areas.
Other than that though, I am fairly impressed! It feels lovely on my face and hasn't caused any spots (as I have heard it has with some people). I would definitely recommend you try this, though you may have a few problems if you suffer with dry skin.
Summary: lightweight mousse foundation, may not be suitable for dry skin

sgathach - 04/04/06 Och shame it's not so good for dry skin, I could fit in my handbag with everything else. Sheena |
