E.L.F. All Over Cover Stick
Advantages: Covers any redness from spots, cheap
Disadvantages: Oily, awkward to blend as quite thick, shiny finish, yellow tone
When I first came across ELF I went a little crazy and bought heaps of different products to try as they're so cheap!
While I do love a majority of the products, the all over cover stick is one of the more slightly dissapointing ones and while it's okay for the price, it is never my first choice of concealer because it isn't easily blendable and it is hard to achieve a natural finish. It's also quite greasy and shiny looking which isn't a great look!
I have quite dry skin so it doesn't look awful as long as I set it with loose powder, but for people with oily skin I definitely wouldn't recommend this. This retails at just £1.50 per four grams of product so obviously I wasn't expecting it to be amazing and as good as my usual, more expensive concealer but it's not awful quality or anything and it just about does the job.
The concealer is available in seven different shades which are suitable for all skin tones. As I am naturally very pale I have it in 'fair' which is the lightest shade available. While it is quite pale I personally find it a little too dark for me and it has an un-natural yellow tone to it which I find hard to disguise even when it is applied over foundation and set with powder, so my under-eyes and spots can actually look even more prominent than they were before in certain lights.
The concealer is easy to apply and I like the design of the tube - it's a bit like a pan stick but white with 'elf' and the product name written on the front. It is quite a chunky tube and it takes up quite a lot of room in my make-up bag which I find a bit annoying and I'd prefer a long, thin tube but eh, for the price I really can't complain too much! ELF claim that the concealer makes the skin appear smooth and flawless and it is infused with natural ingredients.
While it does cover up any redness of spots and helps make them less prominent, the finish certianly isn't flawless and the coverage isn't half as good as my usual concealer. As I have mentioned before it is also quite hard to blend, especially if applying it straight from the stick and the consistency is quite thick and heavy and once applied it feels like a layer of product on my skin rather than feeling weightless/unnoticeable. The lasting power isn't great - it starts to kind of melt and go patchy after four or so hours which is a lot quicker than my usual (and not much more expensive) concealer.
I give the ELF all over cover stick three out of five stars and while I do recommend it, there are quite a few disadvantages.
