E.L.F. Clarifying Pressed Powder
Advantages: Cheap, good range of colours not completely awful
Disadvantages: Needs a lot of blending, needs of lot of reapplications and doesn't cover up greasy areas very well
Having recently introduced myself to Eyeslipsface products (E.L.F to people in the know and how I will refer to this manufacturer for the rest of this review if you don't mind lol) I have made rather a few purchases of late. This is an online cosmetic company that keep packaging simple and prices low and I have found many of the products to be of great quality.
Noticing I was running low on pressed powder once again I turned to E.L.F and grabbed a few things in time for the Christmas party season that is impending. This product costing a mere £1.50 a compact seemed far cheaper than any sort of pressed powder I have purchased in the past and I thought that it had to be worth a go!
The compact comes covered in see-through plastic and on a peachy coloured and white card. On the front of the card we are told that it is E.L.F (Eyes Lips Face) Clarifying Pressed Powder, the colour is stated (in my case that colour is Ivory, 1305) and that it' Eliminates shine, treats and prevents breakouts' and the size is stated which is a 5g compact and the only size this is available to purchase in. On the back of the card we are told a bit about the product and how to use it, the ingredients are listed and contact details for E.L.F are given. The compact is rather small, round and plastic with a white base and you pull to open and close the see-through plastic lid to the top of it which simply says E.L.F Clarifying Pressed Powder in gold lettering on it then within the compact you get a round mainly white 'puff' which is like a slightly fluffy towel idea with a satin white top to it again with E.L.F written on that in brown lettering. The compact itself does look rather cheap and small however when first presented the powder is presented nicely with swirls indented into it and the word E.L.F yet again and its easy enough to open and close etc and of course the information on the card is well enough to feel your well informed about what your using!
The Powder Itself:
This powder is available to buy in seven shades so there is pretty much a shade to suit everyone! As I mentioned earlier I opted for the ivory tone as I have a very light skin tone indeed and this is actually a pretty true reflection of an ivory colour in my humble opinion and really rather light.
The puff is ok. it doesn't flake or go bobbly through use and its easy enough to wash through without damaging it with a drop of water and some sort of soap or shower gel or something like that.
The powder isn't bad but it isn't the best to be fair.... it just isn't exceptional. I find it ok for day to day use but do need to 'top up' rather alot.
The powder goes on quite thickly, even if I use say a blusher/face blush. However it applies evenly enough I just find I need to really work at blending it in, which I can do with good light and a steady hand. Once on it does go on smooth, feels soft and gives no transfer. However I suffer with a greasy t-zone and although this helps marginally it doesn't completely rid the greasy look, particularly to my nose.
Because this isn't great at disguising greasy areas from the get go any that it does as I have already said do need re-applying with this powder rather often however I find that ok really and at least it doesn't clog or get too heavy over time no matter how many layers I apply.
All in all this isn't too bad and I don't regret paying £1.50 for it to be fair. It feels and looks smooth and it hasn't given me any breakouts or upset my skin in any way shape or form however it isn't great and I wouldn't be happy had I have paid much more than £1.50 for it to be honest. If you don't have particularly greasy skin then this could be a very good buy for you however if you do...not so great and don't think this will cover up spots and the likes cos it simply will slide off and give up the ghost! Because of the frequency or reapplication in a day I have found that it it running out fast too!
Only available from E.L.F (.UK or .com).
