E.L.F. Eyeshadow Brush
Advantages: Soft, easy to use, long lasting, apply's colour well, allows colour build up.
Disadvantages: None at all.
I find those tiny little applicators that come with some eyeshadows really harsh and uncomfortable on my eyelids as well as being generally too small, I also find that sometimes they can apply too much of the product giving me a much darker colour than I would prefer and so when ELF had their 50% promotion last year I decided to pick this brush up alongside a few others. At just £1.50 regular price this are fantastically cheap however I paid just 75p for an even better bargain.
As always the products came quickly and well packaged to keep them nice and safe in transport. The brush came with a transparent, thick plastic cover that goes over the top of the bristles which you can use to keep the brush in keeping it clean but I don't. The brush is a good size with a nice long handle which is thicker in the middle although it isn't very thick but a little bigger than a pencil. It's white in colour but as I have experienced with my other budget brushes this has stayed white despite being in my case with everything else. Three quarters of the way from the top is a long silver metallic piece which holds the bristles in place with them sticking out from the top. The brush head is very small and rounded which is good for getting right into the corners of my eyes. The bristles are well compacted and lovely and soft against my skin. The brush is very light but I find is the perfect length and thickness to get a nice handle on the brush to apply my eyeshadow.
I have many eyeshadows in many forms but I use the brush only for powders, I simply sweep the brush over the powder which picks it up very quickly and very well. When I apply the product to my eyelids I find that the shadow transfers easily and swiftly and if I want a very slight colouring one sweep is more than enough. The reason i love this brush so much is that you can build on colour rather than just have a block of colour, I also find the brush is perfect for blending two colours to give a nice flow between them rather than the horrendous blue and pink blocks I thought looked good many moons ago. I find that my powders stick well and I'm not left with little flecks all over my cheeks which tends to happen with those cheap applicators you get.
I have had this brush around a year and although I don't use it daily it has had plenty use and still has plenty of life left in it yet, there has been no misshaping of the bristles of balding of the brush which i think is excellent value. You can clean the brush with a specific brush cleaner or in warm soapy water although admittedly I haven't actually done this as I tend to use the same shades so I don't really need to but the option is there and if I were to use a range of colours I'd have no problem in picking up another couple as they really are fantastic value.
Overall I am very impressed with this brush, it works well, blends my eyeshadow well, allows me to build up colour to the strength I want. The bristles are soft and strong without falling out or misshaping over time and it lasts a long time. I would definitely recommend using this brush over any of the more expensive ones as it does exactly the same job at such a smaller price.
Summary: Another excellent brush from ELF.
