Following on from my mineral foundation review I thought I'd write about the mineral eyeshadow I bought from E.L.F at the same time. Like the mineral foundation I wanted to try this out and unlike the mineral foundation it went very well!

These little pots of mineral eyeshadow are £2.50 and come in 18 different shades so there's a colour to suit everyone. The pots are 0.85g and are the same as the mineral foundation in that they have a screw lid and a sticker you remove to release the powder. The sticker is actually a bit fiddly to get off on these little pots though as there's not much room for your fingers but once off the holes are revealed that you shake the powder through.

Obviously these eyeshadows are loose powder and on first inspection look very, very sparkly. I wasn't sure about this, not being a fan of glittery things I hoped they wouldn't look too garish once on.

I chose the shade "Wild" which is a dark brown and would suit my green eyes. It is actually a very dark brown but I figured some blending would calm it down a bit.

In the description for these eyeshadows the word "translucent" is used and I'm not sure why because these aren't translucent, at least not the one I bought anyway. They can be used wet or dry and if you use them wet basically you get a more defined look so you can use them as a liner in this way.

Anyway, once the holes had been uncovered I shook the pot a bit to get some powder through and found you don't need to really shake the pot or loads comes through! Just tip it and powder easily falls through the holes. The powder is easiest to use if you tip a little bit into the lid to pick up with a brush. That's what I did and then used an eyeshadow brush to apply it.

My glitter worry was unfounded, as you smudge and blend the powder the glittery bits seem to blend in to give an overall shimmery effect which is much better than having chunks of glitter on your eyes. If you use these wet I imagine they stay glittery so if that's what you prefer you can still achieve this.

The effect was very nice, a brown shimmery eyeshadow that stays put all day. No sign of the translucent promise though, this is definitely much the same as a normal eyeshadow but with more of a shine to it.

The pots will last ages, only the tiniest amount is needed and it blends a long way.

I can honestly say this was a successful mineral experience and the eyeshadow looked good, stayed on well and didn't bother my eyes. I think I may buy more colours from the E.L.F range of mineral eyeshadows too. E.L.F products are on the whole very good and very cheap so don't let my experience with the mineral foundation stop you trying these lovely little pots of mineral eyeshadow.

Highly recommended.

Summary: A great product

E.L.F makeup is so cheap! I've heard great things about so much of it too. Maybe I'll give this eyshadow a go now instead of my usual £14 Benefit shadow.

Sounds good, and not a bad price either! :)
