For a while now I've been hearing good things about E.L.F make-up. It appears to be not only very affordable but also of a decent quality which is why a while ago I decided to try a few products for myself. As far as I'm aware this make-up is only available on the E.L.F website (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk) so I headed over there during a 30% off everything offer and picked myself a few things out. One such product I decided to try was their mineral lipstick.
This lipstick comes in eighteen shades ranging from nude pinks to deep reds, dark plums and just about everything else inbetween. Finding a shade you like shouldn't be a problem here. The 3.8g lipstick currently costs £5 from their website although I'm pretty sure it was only £3.50 when I originally bought it (this was a fair while ago now though). With that 30% off I was getting too this seemed like a bargain and I didn't hesitate to purchase a shade I liked the look of.
I decided to play it safe and go for shade 'nicely nude'. I do like some brighter and bolder colours but I personally would never purchase such shades without seeing them in person first (this one disadvantage to only being able to buy online) so I stuck with someone I felt was a much safer option, a soft, pale and natural looking rosy fleshy shade.
The lipstick is housed in a black plastic rectangular casing pretty much as you'd expect from a lipstick. On the top is the E.L.F logo and along the bottom 'eyes lips face' is written. The base of the lipstick clearly states the shade too. As usual the top pulls off to reveal the lipstick whilst the bottom can be turned to reveal more or less of the lipstick.
The lipstick is cut into a slant at the top to allow easy application to the shade of lips and it glides and transfers onto the lips beautifully with one coat being enough for me. The shade I bought is perfect for everyday where and the name certainly isn't deceiving! It adds a nice pinkish flush of colour to my lips whilst still allowing them to look natural and not over the top when I'm just going to work or out shopping. Whilst I would describe the result of this lipstick as matte a very subtle shimmer is added to my lips due to the golden glitter which is sprinkled throughout the lipstick. This looks very nice and just adds that touch of something extra to my lipstick but, again, remains looking subtle and natural so ideal for everyday wear. I do pretty much wear this everyday too! I must have had this for coming up to a year now as well and I still have around half of the lipstick left so it definitely looks like I'll be chucking this out due to its life coming to end before I run out of the product. Fantastic value for money!
The staying power is pretty decent too. I'm a smoker, a nail biter and one of those people who seem to be constantly drinking due to always feeling thirsty! All of this combined means my lips are pretty much in constant use and lipstick does tend to fade and disappear on me after about an hour, sometimes even less. This one gives me a nice colour result for around three or four hours though which is pretty impressive given the price. I've paid much more for lipstick that doesn't stay on anywhere near as much as this one does so I've no complaints there. Due to it being your usual lipstick size it's easy to pop into my handbag for touch ups during the day if I feel inclined to do so too.
All in all I recommend this lipstick entirely. It's excellent value for money even at its higher price of £5 and I can't grumble about it at all. The next time I make a purchase from E.L.F I'll definitely be adding a few different colours of this to my basket.
I did a huge order from elf a while ago and bought myself a few of these lipsticks. I was a bit apprehensive because you can't try out the colours, but I checked several swatches on the internet before choosing my colours. My favourite so far is ripe rose - it goes on dark enough for a night out but it's not too red or plummy. I used it as a blush as well when I couldn't find mine - just put a streak on each cheek and blend with fingertips. The texture of this lipstick is nice and creamy, it slides onto your lips easily and has a nice opacity. It seems expensive compared to the rest of the ELF range but for mineral makeup it's amazingly cheap. Hope they never discontinue this product because I think I've found my go-to lippy! Just be sure to check swatches before buying because colours can look very different on the site and in real life.
I bought the ELF mineral lipstick a while ago when placing an order online. I didn't really need another lipstick, but was intrigued by this being a mineral product, as all mineral make-up I've used in the past has been powder.
==About the product==
This lipstick is described by ELF as containing 'a nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts'. It is 100% mineral based and they say it contains no parabens, preservatives or chemical dyes.
The product not only delivers colour but moisturisation to the lips. Amongst the ingredients are jojoba oil, coconut oil, castor oil and shea butter, all of which are known for their moisturising properties.
There are sixteen colours available, mostly pink and brown based, but with a few reds and plums in there too. I bought 'Pouty Petal' which is described on the site as being 'a sheer cool pink/lilac with gold shimmer'. When this arrived I was quite disappointed that the colour did not match the colour of the swatch shown on the website. ELF is only available online and of course there is always a risk of the shade not being quite right when buying make-up over the internet, but I'd say there was quite a vast difference in colour. On the website it looks a pinky-nude colour to me, but in 'real life' it is quite a bright pink colour which I may not necessarily have bought for myself.
Like all ELF products this comes boxed. The actual tube is plain black and square. It's very simple looking, but I think the plain black is very effective and I do like the packaging.
==My experience of using it==
I always apply straight from the stick and never bother with a lip brush. The lipstick goes on very smoothly and feels quite creamy on application. One thing I absolutely love about this product is that it feels really light on the lips. I hate thick and waxy feeling lip product, so the fact that I can't really feel I am wearing this is a huge bonus point for me.
The colour of the lipstick actually looks slightly more natural on the lips than it does on the tube. It is well pigmented so I don't feel any need to top up or build up the colour.
Given all the moisturising ingredients this contains, I may have expected it to feel somewhat like a lip balm but it doesn't. It doesn't actually dry my lips out, but when I am wearing it, I don't particularly feel like I am wearing a moisturising product.
The longevity of this lipstick is really good. All too often I find lipsticks wear off quickly or even worse come off in the middle leaving a horrid ring of colour around the edges of the lips! This one seems to last rather well and will stay put for several hours, assuming I have not been eating or drinking. If I do drink, then yes it will transfer to the glass and when eating, unfortunately it disappears completely.
This lipstick is a real bargain at only £3.50. At the moment ELF products are only available online at www.eyeslipsface.com
On the whole I do really like this product and I would consider buying another shade. The main downside is that I don't feel the colour of the product was represented well on the website, so if I did buy another one, choosing a shade may not be an easy task. In terms of quality though I think this is absolutely excellent for the price and so I would recommend it.
If any of you regularly read my reviews you will know that I recently discovered www.eyeslipsface.com.uk, otherwise known as ELF cosmetics. For any of you that haven't read my review on that please feel free to have a look. Anyway back to the point, one of the products that I purchased in my first elf haul was the elf mineral lipstick. Now I am not the biggest fan of lipstick and tend just to wear a coloured lip gloss but after reading what elf had wrote about the lip stick and the fact that it was a steal at only £3.50 I thought I would have a change.
WHAT E.L.F SAY
"Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft colour naturally! This nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts create the perfect moisturizing formula. The sleek lipstick has superior colour payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. Lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft throughout the day for no fuss, lip loving happiness. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes."
I have only tried mineral foundation in the past so was intrigued by the mineral lip stick. After reading this I thought the lip stick sounded amazing, a product that would leave my lips super soft with the added benefit of long lasting colour. As soon as it arrived I was eager to try it out.
I was surprised when the lipstick arrived that it actually came in a box. I thought that as it was fairly cheap it would just come as it is. I like to keep products in their boxes so that I know what has been used and what hasn't and it also makes it easier to store makeup so this was a bonus.
The lipstick itself is contained in a black plastic shell with eyes, lips, face printed on the side and the colour on a sticker on the bottom.
The lid attaches securely and the tube mechanism twists smoothly to allow the lipstick to be released.
This lipstick is incredibly smooth. It glides onto your lips with ease coating your lips evenly without any cracks. The colour is very pigmented and not at all what I was expecting from a lip stick costing just £3.50. What I would say though is that the colours given on the e.l.f website do differ slightly from the actual products but not hugely.
One aspect of the product that disappointed me slightly was the moisturising claim. I did not find the product to moisturise my lips any more than other lip products. I am not overly fussed by this as it is a problem that is easily overcome by wearing a lip balm underneath the lip stick if absolutely necessary.
The colour itself does last quite a long time but not the entire day. I would say about 4 or 5 hours at the most if you wear a clear gloss over the top. But for the price I still think this is a good deal.
There are a number of different colours to choose from on the e.l.f website in this particular lip stick from pinks to reds to oranges and browns. I purchased 'natural nymph' which is a very light pink and 'runway pink' which is more of a rose colour, both of which look gorgeous.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
As I have mentioned several times in this review this lip stick only costs £3.50 and is available on the www.eyeslipsface.co.uk website.
This is a fantastic product at a fantastic price. For only £3.50 you could have one of every shade and always have a colour for every occasion, and a quality one at that. This one deserves the full 5 stars.
--also on ciao--
As many of you will know by now I am a huge fan of E.L.F products and of course in a sale I am uncontrollable and buy a ton of various products. During the 50% promotion a few weeks ago I purchased one of the mineral lipsticks. Being so happy with the foundation I thought this should be pretty good and therefore I gave it a shot.
*~* Price and Availability *~*
These are available from the E.L.F website in the UK (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk), however in America it can be bought from various stores as well as online websites for around the world. It can definately be picked up but just to mention in addition to keep a look out in TKMaxx as sometimes the products can be found there for a little cheaper than online.
The cost of these is an incredibly tiny £3.50, a fabulous price if you ask me. I paid just £1.75 for mine so an even better deal but I would be more than happy to pay full price for this.
*~* Packaging *~*
The packaging for this lipstick is pretty classy considering the price. A sleek black box holds a black, square tube which inside has the creamy mixture. The bottom of the case tells us it's from Eyes Lips Face whilst the top of the lid shows a the E.L.F logo.
The lid fits well on the top of the stick, it does not stick but neither is it too loose in that particles could get inside and make it all yuk.
There isn't much to say about the packaging at all, some may find it depressing being all in black but personally I feel it looks very classy and sleek, it goes nicely in my make up case and is not at all embarassing to take out anywhere.
*~* The Lipstick Itself *~*
This is the best part about this product, it is very creamy looking without much of any scent. It is of a decent length with plenty of lipstick for the money. The slanted side at the very top makes this incredibly easy to apply and doesn't wear down quickly meaning there are plenty of applications done perfectly.
It is not at all crumbly or difficult to apply, it glides on easily and gives excellent colour in one sweep. I did find that the colour of the product was different from the colour shown online but it was still very pretty and suited me very well. It also gives even and very full coverage, you don't need a lot at all.
I didn't have to apply any sort of lip balm before application, my lips honestly felt like I had applied a conditioner. It was not at all sticky or thick but very light and lovely to wear. It also lasts very well. Eating and drinking an hour to two which is excellent and 4 hours of just general wear which I feel is exceptional value for money.
*~* Other Information *~*
The website states:
'Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft color naturally! This nourishing blend of exotic oils, natural waxes, vitamins and plant extracts create the perfect moisturizing formula. The sleek lipstick has superior color payoff, glides easily onto lips, and is long wearing. Lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft throughout the day for no fuss, lip loving happiness. All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.'
I have to say that this lipstick lives up completely to it's claims, doing exactly what it says it will. I normally find that with claims there are 1 or 2 things a bit of but not here, it is the complete truth.
I am also a huge fan of E.L.F in that they do not test on animals which is another excellent point to note. They are able to offer excellent products without causing harm, customer service is the best I have come across. Along with lots of promotions offering their products for insane prices makes this an ideal website to buy from and also an excellent product to try out. I have to give this 5 stars. If I could give it more I would have.
I recently discovered E.L.F and decided to try there mineral lipstick as i've heard so many positive reviews. I decided to only get one to start, to make sure that I actually lliked it and it was of good quality, although at just £3.50 per lipstick I was tempted to get more but decided against it - better safe than sorry! There are sixteen shades available from nudes and browns to scarlet red's. I decided to get 'Ripe Rose' which is described by E.L.F as 'Light scarlet red with gold shimmer'. The swatch looked perfect for me so I was quite dissapointed when the lipstick arrived - it was much darker in colour than it was shown on the website - almost a deep cherry.
Despite this I decided to keep it and try it and which I don't regret at all - I love it! But remember, if you're buying for the first time and are unaware of the shades, do not go by the website's swatches as they are not accurate - instead, type the product name into google and click onto google images - there are lots of accurate swatches of many of the shades on there which are much more reliable than the E.L.F swatches.
The lipstick packaging reminds me a bit of the Barry M lip paint packaging but bigger. It's basically a black plastic case (complete with lid) which holds the lipstick. The lid has the E.L.F logo on the top in silver writing and on the side of the case (also in silver writing) it says 'eyes lips face'. The packaging although plastic does not feel too cheap or flimsy, although i've noticed that it scratched really easily when I put it in my makeup bag so I now keep it on my shelf. It definetly does not look like a £3.50 lipstick and i'd definetly say the packaging makes it look that bit more expensive.
The lipstick is very pigmented and in a nice shape - not too thick but a decent sized tip to give even coverage. There is no scent at all to the lipstick - it's not perfumed and there is no waxy scent. This doesn't really bother me as I mainly use this lipstick for day wear (work, university) so I don't have to worry about it not smelling nice when my boyfriend kisses me lol. For nights out I do prefer something with a bit of a scent and generally bolder than this lipstick. The formula of the lipstick is good. It's nice and soft - very creamy, although this isn't the most lightweight lipstick - it feels quite heavy on my lips and it is easy to apply too much due to the soft texture and it then blobs up, so i'm always careful to apply it very carefully and gently to avoid this.
The lipstick is not as moisturizing as I expected, in fact to be blunt it is not moisturizing at all and if anything makes my lips feel quite dry, but not to the point of it feeling unpleasant, but seeing as E.L.F state in the product description 'Now you can hydrate your lips' I was a bit dissapointed. The lipstick doesn't highlight any lines or cracks in my lips, although my beauty regime includes exfoliating my lips with my lip scrubs before I put the lipstick on so some people might find that it does highlight inperfections.
The colour is nicely pigmented and not too sheer. The lipstick has a sparkly undertone to it which I don't particulary like, it is a bit too tacky for my liking and personally I think this lets the lipstick down, although it doesn't stop me from wearing it as I don't think many people actually notice the undertone unless they come extremely close lol. The staying power of this lipstick isn't very good - 2-3 hours maximum before needing another coat, but overall the lipstick is good value for money and i'd reccomend it.
Elf is a very cheap makeup brand with very high quality products. Their website is: www.eyeslipsface.co.uk for delivery to the UK, and www.eyeslipsface.com for delivery to the US and Canada. You can buy Elf products from some places in the US, like Walmart. They don't advertise their website/products, they rely solely on the word spread by the people who buy from them.
In my opinion, Elf is the best makeup brand out there for people who are on a budget. I always order from there and I always receive my package 1-3 days after I ordered it. If an item is faulty/damaged I just send it back and they send me a brand new one. That's called amazing service!
I bought this item for £3.50 hoping that it would be good. I bought it in Runway Pink. It was a nice pinky colour with a hint of silver shimmer and looked really gorgeous. I couldn't wait to use it.
When I received my items I tested all of them out. I tested the lipstick on two different criteria - how comfortable it was on my lips, and how long it stayed on for.
When I say 'comfortable', I mean, do my lips feel stiff when I wear the lipstick? Does the lipstick go dry and/or flaky when I rub my lips together? Does the product feel heavy? I found the lipstick very comfortable and lightweight - sometimes I even forgot I was wearing it! It moisturised my lips and didn't flake or go dry when I rubbed my lips together. In fact, they didn't go dry or flaky at all through the day!
The lipstick stays on for quite a long time if you know how to use it correctly (see How To Get The Most Out Of This Product Below). You could even use one of those clear glosses that you put over your lipstick to make it last longer.
-How To Get The Most Out Of This Product-
I applied the lipstick to my lips and waited 15 seconds before rubbing my lips together. Then, I got a tissue and blotted my lips gently. I applied more lipstick and, again, I waited 15 seconds before rubbing my lips together. I applied one of those special clear glosses to make my lipstick last.
Whenever I drank, I discreetly licked the brim of the cup where I was going to place my lips - that acted as a barrier between the glass and my lips, so the glass wouldn't end up wearing my lipstick! Next time you're wearing lipstick and you're drinking something, try that out - it actually works!
A couple of weeks after buying that lipstick I bought three more. None of them fell short of my standards and I really really loved them. I expect to purchase more of them in the future!
I would recommend this product to a friend, because the lipstick is very cheap and very good quality. It's good for people who are on a budget.
My new favourite cosmetics company is E.L.F., which stands for Eyes, Lips, Face. They are an online retailer and their UK web store can be reached at this address http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk. They have several different ranges of make-up, including their Basic, Mineral, and Studio lines. I love wearing make-up and have great fun experimenting with colours and different looks. It's nice to have lots of products to play around with but there are always a few items that become must-haves and form the basis of most of my 'faces'. I tend to opt for brightly coloured or heavily lined eyes and keep my lips looking natural.
After testing the water with their Basic range I decided to move on and try some of their Mineral range. I've tried other brands of mineral make-up before including eye shadow and foundation, but never tried anything for the lips. The photos of E.L.F.'s Mineral Lipstick on their website looked really appealing and I selected the Natural Nymph shade. It costs £3.50 for a 3.8g lipstick.
E.L.F. say: "Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft colour naturally! All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes." Sounds good, huh?!
The Mineral Lipstick comes packaged in a cardboard box with the ingredients shown clearly on the back. The box itself is white and there is a circular shape which I believe is supposed to show the colour of the lipstick - however it is really way off the mark and many shades darker than what I purchased, it looks like a chocolate brown colour which is completely wrong. Inside, the lipstick comes in a sleek and stylish looking black tube that is square shaped and plain except for an E.L.F. logo on top of the lid. The lipstick twists up in the normal way and has a slanted tip at one side to make it easy to apply.
Directions for use: Apply to lips and blend in colour for lip hydration. Re-apply as often as desired.
More information about the composition of the product:
"Jojoba Oil soothes, moisturizes and softens the skin. Coconut Oil is a moisturizing remedy to prevent wrinkles and sagging. Candelilla Wax protects the skin against moisture loss. Castor Oil is soothing, rich in antioxidants and helps to prevent aging. Shea Butter is deep penetrating and long acting. It is needed to restore the skin's moisture balance and prevent visible signs of aging and wrinkles. Olive Oil combats aging and locks in moisture. Tocopherol is a Vitamin E derivative and is a powerful antioxidant helping the skin look younger and promotes skin healing. Ascorbyl Palmitate is a Vitamin C derivative that promotes healthy skin and vitality. Retinyl Palmitate is a Vitamin A derivative that is a powerful anti-oxidant that increases skin elasticity, yielding younger looking skin and helps to smooth out fine lines. Mica ingredients impart a soft focus effect that creates a natural, healthy, and youthful glow that instantly fills facial lines to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Titanium Dioxide is also an important ingredient because of its ability to provide sun protection to the skin."
It's pretty easy to apply lipstick so I won't go into too much detail! The slanted tip gives a smooth and even application, and allows you to sweep the colour evenly over your lips to get a full coverage. It is very creamy and soft compared to other lipsticks, and I think this is down to the special mineral based formulation. I still prefer to wear a lip balm underneath as I do with any lip product, but this lipstick is less drying than others I have used before, and it feels nice and light on my lips.
The shade I have, Natural Nymph, is absolutely divine. It is my absolute favourite lipstick ever! The only time I ever usually wear lipstick is if I take a break from the norm and go for natural eyes with dramatic red lips. Natural Nymph is more my kind of colour, it's a pale neutral beige shade which is actually quite close to my ivory skin tone. It lives up to its name and looks remarkably natural for such a pale colour, and is perfect for everyday wear. I have quite pink toned lips and it covers my natural colour evenly so that it doesn't show through at all. I am left with a creamy natural shade that makes my lips paler and helps my lip ring to stand out and look even more noticeable! With the shade being so pale it helps to balance out the rest of the face and I usually make sure that I have at least done my eyebrows and added a little blusher to keep things looking groomed rather than sickly!
The only compromise is that it does wear off after a couple of hours, normally after I've eaten, which I suppose is to be expected. I can happily re-apply it though as it doesn't cause my lips to dry out and keeps them feeling moisturised. I've been using this lipstick nearly every day since I bought it and have barely even marked the end of it. I think you get a generous amount and this lipstick will be a long lasting product that I can get hundreds of applications from.
I cannot express how much I am in love with the Natural Nymph Mineral Lipstick - it is the best natural shade I have ever owned and has already become a firm favourite. I will most definitely be buying this again once it's been used up, and I have my eye on some of the other shades in the range including a very nice looking pale pink. There are a total of 16 shades to choose from including neutrals, pinks, browns and reds, sothere should be something for evryone to suit every look or occasion.
Mineral make-up not only looks great but it is great for your skin as it's free of harmful ingredients such as parabens, preservaties, and dyes. This is a natural way to stay looking gorgeous. I am thoroughly impressed with how well this product has suited me and would recommend it to everyone, as long as there is still some left for me! This is a newly discovered essential that I wouldn't want to be without.
E.L.F. are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!
Simmondsia Chinensis, Cocos Nucifera, Candelilla Cera, Ceresin, Cera Microcristallina, Carnauba Cera, Paraffin Wax, Ricinus Communis, Butyrospermum Parkaii, Olea Europaea, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Retinyl Palmitate, Mica.

I first purchased one of these lipsticks when the range first came in. I bought it in Natural Nymph, the now famous colour. It's a beautiful beige-y sort of colour that's a nude lipstick that unlike many others, doesn't actually make you look lipless or like you're suffering from a bad skin disease. It's a wonderfully wearable colour and I found the website swatch colour to be pretty accurate. The forumation was lovely and creamy, and one application lasted me all morning (and that was after eating and drinking quite a bit). I sometimes suffer from dry lips and find lipsticks sometimes highlight this, but my lips actually felt softer after I'd applied the lipstick and also once after it'd been removed. The lipsticks are only £3.50 each which is a steal when you see the quality it is - I've had Chanel and Dior lipsticks that weren't half as good as this. There's a great range of colours and I would definitely recommend it.
Over the years I have gave up completely on the big and fashionable cosmetics companies in the favour of using products with more natural ingredients. Is quite strange because I still enjoy going to Boots or Debenhams from time to time to look at cosmetics and test them, but I never buy them anymore, I look at the ingredients and see many pointless fillers and complicated substances that I know are more trouble then they worth plus not too mention over prices.
In my search for more natural cosmetics I turned to the internet based companies. I like to keep up with the latest products and so I came across one day over the www.eyeslipsface.co.uk who are selling a mineral lipstick with no parabens, preservatives and chemical dyes and filled plus natural extracts. The company itself is internet base mostly and sells ultra cheap cosmetics, in the spirit of selling cheap things they also sell this lipstick for the price of £3.50.
I always loved the ingredients list on it but because of the low price of the item I put off in ordering it sooner because I though is not going to be of an great quality.
The average cost on an natural lips gloss or lipstick is around £12.
I always found the natural lip gloss to be an fantastic quality item that many companies produced. But with an lipstick the story has always been different, it always seems that no matter how much they tried the natural producers of lipstick never got their formula right so I gave up in searching for a lipstick that is actually good.
I was in need of a red shade of lipstick so I though I give it a try to the E.L.F. mineral lipsticks.
I placed my order on a Monday morning and easily paid by Pay Pal. Shockingly Tuesday, yes the next day that is, my parcel has arrived . Now that was quick especial for an company that sells cheap stuff, they sure do not cut the costs down on customer service.
The lipstick come packed in a fitted cardboard box, white with all the information you would want to know about the ingredients on it and the company, very neat looking.
Inside there was the lipstick in a black stylish case of its own. Had very discrete writing on it "eyes lip face" There is nothing chap about it, the casing is nice and sturdy. I have been using both my lipsticks plenty of times by now, about half of them gone and the casing is still holding strong, has not come apart at all and shows not signs in doing so.
Inside there is 3.8 grams of lipstick, that is an average lipstick amount you would expect from any company. No a sample size or anything like that.
The lipstick has no flavour and no smell whatsoever. I personally hate flavours and smells in cosmetics as they rarely appeal to me.
The product has no taste either which is a big bonus.
***** Use in practice*****
The colours I ordered for myself wore: royal red and cheerful cherry. I was a bit worried about royal red when it came home as it look rather brownish burgundy at first sight, but once applied on the lips is a pretty dark red with purplish undertones. Cheerful cherry is more lighter red. I would not say any of this lipstick and very light red though. None of them is completely matte, they have just a bit of shine to them, nothing overpowering, quite discrete.
These 2 colours are highly pigmented, the reds on the lips are strong and powerful colours. They look expensive and stylish when applied which is surprising for £3.50.
I have dry lips and I found this lipsticks is nice and creamy. I find all lipsticks generally dry my lips but these ones are better.
What I hate about lipsticks is the fact that when I applying them I must go trough a routine of applying lip liner first and the blotting the lipstick in order for it not to feather. I am happy to say that e.l.f. lipstick don't need any of that. I just apply one layer and I am ready top go, no feathering for me soon after
**** End conclusion******
These products must be the selling point of an cheap cosmetic company. I paid around £14.00 for each other natural mineral lipsticks I have and they did not come even half way close to the high quality of the e.l.f. mineral ones.
All I can say that these 2 colours have become my favourites and I wear them all the time.
If you are into natural cosmetics I think these defiantly worth a go.
High quality product, my everyday favourites

You can purchase it off ELF's site http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk for a barging price of £3.50 you can pay a lot more than that for a mineral lipstick.
When I did my first purchase of ELF's makeup I noticed they had a mineral section, which is very reasonable priced, so I thought I would give one of their lipsticks ago. I bought Pouty Petal. Pouty Petal on a swatch at the back of my hand is a soft sheer pink colour but on the lips it looks a little darker but not a horrible colour it is actually really flattering on and surprising it lasts a long time on.
I also found this lipstick to be moisturising like they say, glides on and feels lovely. You would never think I paid £3.50 for it as it looks more expensive in the packaging and on the lips.
After that I decided to buy another mineral lipstick from there range and I bought there new addition called Nicely Nude. This colour was released at the same time of their Studio Line. Nicely Nude is again a nice delicate sheer pink colour, I would say more of a pink than Pouty Petal. But on the lips it does look more nude. I wouldn't say nude as in Barry M 101 or any other nude lipsticks in that line but a wash of delicate colour. Perfect for any occasion and with makeup worn.
In their range their mineral lipsticks go from nude (Nicely Nude) to a plum red (Prime Plum) they also have peach colours down to royal red's. There is a colour to suite everyone's taste.
I have bought more expensive lipsticks in the past and some times I don't dare wear them because of their price but this its a brilliant price with great pay off at the end of it.
What more could a woman ask for? Go on you know you want to.
~Would I buy again?~
When I placed my e.l.f. order the mineral lipstick was the item I was most keen to get my hands on. I'd never tried a lipstick made of natural ingredients before.
The range has twelve different shades to choose from. I chose Barely Bitten (from the mineral section) for £3.50. It looked like a soft dusky pink which is my favourite shade.
The site says 'Now you can hydrate your lips and get a lasting soft colour naturally! All our mineral makeup is 100% mineral based with no parabens, no preservatives and no chemical dyes.'
My order arrived within a few days and the first thing I looked for was the lipstick. It was packaged in a white lipstick box with the colour swatch on the side, and the e.l.f. logo on the top of the box.
I read the ingredient list printed on the packaging (you can also find it on the website) and the ingredients appeared to be all-natural. The ingredients listed first were jojoba seed oil and coconut oil.
The packaging of the lipstick itself is matte black plastic with the e.l.f. logo on top of the cap, and eyes lips face printed on the side. It's a good size, bigger than a lot of my other lipsticks, with the regular amount of product inside (The powder pans I ordered from e.l.f. weren't filled to the brim oddly, but they don't seem to have skimped on the lipstick).
I have noticed a recurring theme with every make-up product I've reviewed from e.l.f. so far, the colours are darker than the picture shown on the website, twisting the lipstick tube up for the first time I did wonder if they accidentally put the wrong lipstick in the box.
The colour I was expecting was a dusky rose, the colour I got was a soft brown-toned red! I don't think my computer screen is too light, as the colour swatch on the packaging matches the one on the website.
Something else I noticed is a slight colour marbling on the lipstick like on a bar of chocolate that's melted then gone solid again. In lipstick form though it's pretty and swirly, it reminds me of the veining in some MAC mineralised skin finishes.
When I looked closely I could see the lipstick was infused with a very fine gold shimmer.
Tested on my hand the colour was sheer, very similar to a tinted lip balm, and also the colour was a lot closer to the swatch. Perhaps they were replicating the applied colour instead of the in-tube colour? Maybe.
There is no scent at all to the lipstick, I thought I might be getting a cold so I sniffed several of my other lipsticks to compare - ably assisted by my cat Emily (from a hygienic distance of course), she always likes to get involved with sniffing things - and lots of them have that awful waxy smell, the e.l.f. one is scent-less. Emily can confirm this, it was one of only two she didn't recoil from.
When applied slightly I have to say it didn't seem moisturising, there was a slight sheen which was probably down to the gold shimmer. If moisturising is the main thing you are looking for in a lipstick I would not recommend this. Referring to the claim above, 'lips stay perfectly hydrated and soft throughout the day' that would only be true if you were wearing lip balm too.
It was smooth to apply, the coverage was even, and it gave my lips a lovely natural soft red colour - like bitten lips, funnily enough!
Even though I might not seem too enthusiastic I actually am! I wouldn't buy a lipstick for moisturising, it's all about the colour for me, and although the colour was different to the one I was expecting, it's a really flattering shade and I don't think you can get a better mineral lipstick for that price.
But I do have to knock one star off for the hydrating claim, sorry e.l.f.!
Minerals help nourish lips while giving them colour!
