I was introduced to E.L.F (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk) by a friend a while ago and since my first order arrived I have been hooked. Just recently there was a facebook promotion that offered 50% off every product on the website with a spend of £30 meaning that you were only paying £15. It was an offer I could not resist and so I made an order. Upon seeing these lashes at just £1.50 a pair I had to try them out considering after the promotion you are just paying 75p per pair.
I don't wear false lashes often, generally only on a night out but I do always like to have a couple of pairs in my make up case. When the box arrived, as with all ELF products it was carefully packaged and rather sleek looking. It's a cardboard box in a sort of off white, creamy colour. It states that these are 'Natural Looking Long Lashes' and I have to agree. They don't look fake at all. The lashes come attached to a plastic holder that also contains some eyelash glue.
The eyelashes have to be peeled off the plastic and a little of the glue added. Unfortunately the first pair I tried the glue was set in the tube and so I had to use an eyelash glue I already had. All you have to do is add a little glue on the edge of the lash and wait until it is tacky to apply to the upper lid. I held mine on for about 15 seconds before letting go and I found that they stayed on straight away. They are longer on than I imagined but not too long that they are obviously fake. I added a coat of mascara to blend the false and my natural lashes. They were very comfortable to wear, sometimes I find lashes can be heavy and get in the way, blurring the vision somewhat but these are brilliant, they blend in and stay on very well. Even after a hard night of partying I found that they were still well attached. There was no irritation what so ever and they were very easily and gently pulled off.
These can also be reused, I have used them once more since and they are fine for another use at least which is another fantastic positive.
I really love these lases and would definately recommend them even at £1.50 a pair which is in itself a fabulous price and much better than other cheap lashes available.
This product is great value for money. I always wear fake eyelashes and just have to wear them if I go on a night out. I bought a few other items from ELF so I thought i'd try these lashes, why not at only £1.50!!
To be honest they do not look natural and they are supposed to be the natural lash kit (i'd like to see the larger ones), they still look fake, but I usually wear big lashes anyway so this did not bother me. I had to trim these down when I used them as they were too long for my eyes (but I usually do this anyway with most brands). I didn't like the glue as it didn't really work well in keeping them in place, so I used a stronger eyelash glue which I used from another brand which worked well.
Despite these drawbacks, once the eyelashes were on they looked fantastic. They looked just as good as other big brands which i'd used in the past....MAC and Eyelure. The lashes stayed on all night (probably due to the other branded glue which I used though), and I got comments about how long my lashes looked (maybe they did look natural then). I used the eyelashes 3 times before I needed to replace them but will probably last longer if you don't put makeup on them (which I did). I will definitely purchase more, such a great price!!
I came across the E.L.F lashes when browsing the internet. E.L.F stands for eyes, lips, face, which originated in the USA and now sells within the UK. The website is www.eyeslipsface.co.uk.
The Au Natural eyelashes from E.L.F are priced at £1.50 on the website which includes both lashes and glue. Delivery on the website is £3.50 but if you order over £30 worth of products on the website delivery is free.
When I apply lashes I ensure the area firstly is dry. Some people apply false lashes as a last step when applying make up however I find that applying before is easier and if you do make a mess you don't have to apply all of your eye make up again. You will need extra time if applying lashes first to ensure the lashes are fully affixed and dry before applying your eyeliner and eye shadow.
I have never had this problem as the lashes fit my eyes perfectly but ensure the lash is the same size of your eye. If it is not trim it from the inner edge so it will fit on your lash line.
Ensure you have plenty of cotton buds to hand. The cotton buds should not be too fluffy as bits will get stuck in the glue. Apply the glue to the lash on the strip on the top edge of the false lash. Ensure that no glue gets onto the lash as the lashes will stick together. Allow the glue to dry for about 30 seconds to 1 minute so it goes tacky.
When the glue is tacky hold the inner edge of the lash with a pair of tweezers and press the lash strip down as close to your natural lash line as possible. Use the thin end of two cotton buds and hold down onto the lash line. Press the lash down so the lash does not lift. Apply pressure for around 1 minute until the lash is affixed.
I found the E.L.F lashes very difficult to apply because the lash strip is so flimsy and too flexible. Rather than bending into shape to fit along the lash line the lash just folds and flops down over the eye. Affixing the lash to my eyelid was difficult and I had to hold the false lash down with cotton buds for a lot longer than I did with other lashes that I have used.
The glue that came with the E.L.F lashes made affixing the lashes a lot more difficult than previous lashes that I had used. The glue that came out of the tube was very thin and as a result took a long time to dry. The first time I attached the lashes the lash slipped off my lid as the glue was still so wet. I had to wait over 3 minutes for the glue to get tacky before I could start applying it again to my eyelid.
Once applied the lashes after about 20 minutes started to lift up at the corners from the inner corner as the glue was not strong enough to hold. I used the whole tube of glue that came with the E.L.F lashes for one wear. I still did not feel that the lash was fully secure and felt anxious when wearing the lashing that the lashes would come off, and I had to avoid touching the lashes or my eyes.
Taking the lashes off was very easy as the glue was so weak. The corner of my inner lashes had already started to lift so I just pulled gently on the false lash and it came off my eyelid extremely easily. Because of the amount of glue that was used to attach the lash a lot was left on my eyelid, which I had to scrub quite hard with a make up wipe to get off.
The look I was wanting from these lashes was natural, thick and slightly fluttery, which I would wear a light bronze shimmery eyeshadow with. The occasion was a work lunch event so I did not want to have a very heavy make up look.
When the lashes went on eventually I was not impressed with the look. In fact some of my own lashes were slightly longer than the false lashes I had added. My eye lashes looked short and stumpy, some thickness was added but I felt the lashes made my eyes look smaller rather than bigger and wider which is what false lashes usually do for me. I put mascara onto my lashes but this did not really help and just added to the stumpy thick look the lashes gave on my eyes
To hide the glue that had over spilled I had to draw on a thin black line on my eyelid with liquid liner, to accompany my natural looking eyeshadow.
I was not impressed by the lashes by E.L.F , the lashes were extremely flimsy in particular the lash strip that attaches to your eyelid was too flexible which made application difficult. The natural lashes are great for people with quite short and thin lashes but if your lashes are already quite long these will do nothing for you. The lashes from E.L.F made my lashes look quite stumpy and not that thick and I feel a good quality mascara would have been more effective for creating a natural long lash look. My best friend tried these and the lashes look a lot nicer on her and gave both more volume and length. Her eyes are a bit smaller than mine and so the lashes looked a lot longer when affixed to her eye. Average lashes that done nothing for me; the glue included with the lashes is terrible. If you are going to wear these lashes you will need to buy different eyelash glue.

These were my first ever set of false eye lashes and I still find myself buying them to this day as they are such good value for money! I love how natural they look - they are not too long or thick that they look totally fake, in fact, no one ever notices that I have them on. The glue is okay but too watery and can loose its stick during the day (or night!). The lash band is black - I cannot decide if I like this feature or not because on one hand where the lashes stop, the black line (that looks like eyeliner) stops, so can be hard to make it look natural, but on the other hand, if you are rubbish at applying eyeliner (like me!), this gives the look of a perfectly lined eye lid! The lashes are not a blunt cut, which makes them look even more natual - they are not too strong though, and usually only last me around 5 usages whereas my better lashes last me around 10 - 15!
I love using false eyelashes to enhance my look. These lashes definitely do the trick! They look so natural and pretty, you wouldn't think that they were false!
Some lashes actually look false, but sometimes that is the effect that one is going for.
This is a great everyday lash and can be used multiple times. It looks very natural and is easy to apply. I use mine about 8 to 10 times, depending on its condition. You can just clean off the glue after each use by peeling it away with tweezers of fingers. Then simply disinfect with alcohol and make up remover and you can use them again.
I wouldn't recommend the glue that comes with the lashes, it's very poor quality. They simply won't stick with that glue! I like to use mini gloo that I get with my red cherry lashes or lashgirp adhesive. These glues are much thicker and go tacky and stay put a lot easier than the gel that comes with the lashes. These lashes are only £1.50 from elf.co.uk, so defiantly worth a try! I'd say they're just as good as the more expensive ones!
Eyeslipsface.co.uk is the sister site to american eyeslipsface.com. It is an online shopping site for makeup and cosmetics, and is sometimes referred to as ELF (eyes lips face). Its main claim / attraction is that (almost) everything is £1.50! In america it is cheaper still at $1 per item!
The ELF company has only been shipping to the UK since November 2007, but is already very popular.
I bought the natural lash kit after it was recommended by a makeup artist on YouTube. There are 3 different false lash effects to choose from on the site - Natural lashes, Dramatic Lashes and Individual lashes. I am a false eyelash virgin, so opted for the natural lashes.
~What the website says~
No mess lash beautification is here! Get those lengthy full lashes for any occasion, any day! Easy application and comfort grip gel allows for multiple uses so you can repeatedly achieve those batty lashes that will make any guy swoon.
Gently remove lash from tray. Pierce the top of the adhesive tube and apply a thin amount of glue along the entire length of the lash strip. Allow glue to sit until tacky, then place lashes as close to the baseline of your own lashes as possible, working from the center out. Hold the lash in place for a few seconds until the lash strip has a chance to hold. Apply mascara if desired.
Set includes: a contour tray, lashes and a tube of lash adhesive gel.
The lashes have a slight amount of glue on them already (holding the lashes all together) so they are stuck to a semi-circle shape in the box. This helps them to stay the right shape for your eyes. You also get a small (very small) tube of glue to stick your lashes to you eyelid.
The first thing I did was to cut my lashes to fit my eyes, they are very long when you get them, so I cut the inner corners by about half a centimetre to fit my lid. There is a left and a right eyelash, so it is important to remember which is which, as the eyelashes curl upwards and the length of the lashes get longer as you reach the outer corner of the eye. So it would be obvious if you got the wrong ones!
I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to apply my lashes, and basically followed those instructions. This process is very fiddly and I suggest you practice until you perfect the technique before you actually wear them outside of your home!
The glue is very watery and hard to apply, after about 1 hour the eyelash started to peel off so I applied more glue and it stuck back on. If you apply alot of glue the lashes are securly in place, but you will get through the tube very quickly. I bought LashGrip adhesive from Ardell for £2.99 and have found it works much better and is easier to apply. The glue dries clear so you dont need to worry if you get splodges here and there :)
The eyelashes in my opinion look VERY natural, they are longer than my own but not by a large amount. The lashes are many different legths which adds to the natural effect. I asked my mum which eye has false lashes on and which didnt and she knew because of the length of the lashes and the fact they were not clumped up with mascara, but said that it could easily pass for a natural eye!
The lashes are black and not too thick, they dont shed at all, and are reuseable, however, I only use each one around 5 times because the glue holding the lashes together starts to deteriorate and it is cheaper to buy a new pair for £1.50.
They are fiddly to clean but I guess all "falsies" are like that. I soak them in alcohol and then water and then makeup remover and then pick out any leftover bits of glue with tweezers.
Love these lashes! Would really recommend them!
EDIT: The rubbishy glue runs out after 2 applications!
