ELF cosmetics stands for Eyes Lips and Face, they are an online company. I like that you are able to buy their products online because this is a lot easier than having to go to the shops if I am busy. Most items on the website cost £1.50 which is amazing for make up. They have a few other lines on their page which range from £2.50-£3.50. They also have sets of make up and eye lashes which would make great gifts, these are a little more expensive but still very very cheap.
I have used a few products from ELF before and an usually satisfied with the results considering the low price. When I buy from elf online I tend to order a lot and stock up as the products are cheap.
I recently ordered a few items from ELF cosmetics including this lip product. I ordered this in a gorgeous pale pink colour. There are a few different colour choices and they are only £1.50 each! Most of their items are only £1.50 which is amazing.
When I recieved my package I tried this and was really impressed with the results. The application involves twisting the bottle until the product comes out on to the brush. Once it is on the brush you can apply it to your lips like you would a normal lip gloss.
This is not too bold or bright which I like, the subtle colour and shine is really nice. This feels misfiring in my lips which is better than most lip sticks which dry out my lips.
My new favourite cosmetics company is E.L.F., which stands for Eyes, Lips, Face. They are an online retailer and their UK web store can be reached at this address http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk. They have several different ranges of make-up, including their Basic, Mineral, and Studio lines. I love wearing make-up and have great fun experimenting with colours and different looks. It's nice to have lots of products to play around with but there are always a few items that become must-haves and form the basis of most of my 'faces'. I tend to opt for brightly coloured or heavily lined eyes and keep my lips looking natural.
This lip colour is part of the Basic range and comes in a choice of 11 different shades including mainly browns, pinks and reds. It costs just £1.50 for a 1.5g amount of product. You can view the shades by looking at the colour swatches or view supersized images of the finished product. I selected two shades to test out this product, and went for Bark and Cherry Tart.
E.L.F. say: "True colour therapy is here. Intensive hydrating agents along with natural pigments leave lips with Long-lasting colour and moisture. This luscious liquid lipstick creates wearable colour that flatters a multitude of skin tones and looks."
This product has had a slight makeover since it was added to the dooyoo database and now goes under the new title of Luscious Liquid Lipstick. It comes sealed in a cardboard backed blister pack which contains directions and ingredients listings on the back. The lipstick itself comes in a clear plastic tube with a removable lid. The lipstick is unique in that it has a liquid formula, and there is a sponge tipped applicator connected to the tube for you to use.
Directions for use: To activate, twist pen 10-20 times or until colour is seen. Layer on colour. Reapply anytime.
This lipstick is unlike any that I've seen before, and is applied in a way to suit its liquid form. The bottom of the tube has a twist up section which you turn and this will push the product up and out of the tube. The product actually pushes through the sponge applicator and you will see it appear there ready for you to put on. With this innovative solution to the application you are able to get just the right amount of product on the tip and it saves any wastage. This is also really easy to use on the go and it's handy to put in your handbag for top-ups.
The sponge has a slanted tip which gives a smooth and even application, and allows you to sweep the colour evenly over your lips to get a full coverage. This lipstick feels more like a heavy gloss and spreads well. The level of colour you get is even and looks very flattering, although you can't really build up the colour to make it brighter or darker.
After I apply this product I usually get a slight tingling feeling on my lips for up to a minute afterwards, although it does not seem to have any noticeable plumping action. The liquid feel of the lipstick means that it sits on your skin and leaves it feeling moisturised. I wear lip balm constantly thanks to suffering with dry lips, and I normally get chapped and dry lips after wearing a normal lipstick. This liquid lipstick is a great idea as it leaves my lips feeling soft and smooth.
I picked two different colours that I would be suitable for frequent use. Bark is a natural brown shade that is the colour of a milky coffee. Cherry Tart is a gorgeous pink toned red that is bold but wearable even during the day. The shades are gorgeous and flattering to my skin tone. I have to make more of an effort to wear make-up now as I have recently dyed my hair black and it can make my pale complexion look washed out if I don't add make-up to balance my features. The colours do look a little different to the pictures on the website but this could be due to my monitor, I like them anyway so that's quite fortunate! The colours look lovely against my lips and because of the liquid feel you are left with a glossy looking finish that adds a bit of shine.
The lipstick seems to wear away after a few hours and I usually need to re-apply it a couple of times throughout the day to keep the level of colour topped up. Because of the glossy finish I find that I often end up with small crumbs of food stuck to it, and if I step outside in a breeze than my hair clings on to the gloss. This is a bit annoying and can be messy but I usually just wipe it off and start again if this happens. The lipstick does have a bit of a sticky feeling thanks to its glossiness and this becomes worse if you re-apply more lipstick straight over the top of the earlier application.
E.L.F.'s budget range has some fantastic items and this Luscious Liquid Lipstick is an excellent product. There are plenty of colours to choose from, it keeps my lips feeling soft, and I really like the creative way of applying it. For just £1.50 this is a real bargain and I'd happily buy it again.

E.L.F Moisture Care Lip Colour
~About the Company~
Eyes Lips Face (ELF for short) first started in New York in 2004, by American celebrity and beauty professional Scott-Vincent Borba (the man who founded Hard Candy's cosmetics line in 1995 in LA).
ELF provides cosmetics for as little as £1.50 and their mineral makeup up to £3.50
They manage to keep their prices low by not using high prices advertising. Rather they use the Internet for branding and word of mouth.
To say the cosmetics are cheap doesn't mean they skimp on ingredients.
ELF are said to use the best ingredients for their cosmetics.
ELF has been named in many TV shows and magazines including, GMTV, This Morning, Hello Magazine, Marie Claire, Glamour, Grazia, The Times and many more.
ELF came to England on 27th November 2007 and they have not looked back. It is ran by brother and sister Neil Phillips and Jo Westlake, from ELF HQ in Swansea.
~About the Product / What the Product Says To Do~
Theses lipglosses are some of elf's new improved line. They hydrate the lips and provide long lasting colour. High pigment in a range of colours.
This lipgloss has been seen in Closer magazine.
They have colours ranging from nude browns and pinks all the way to dark and bright red.
Unfortunately ELF don't state any ingredients used.
When you first receive this product make sure you twist the bottom of the tube 10-20 times until the product comes out of the sponge applicator, it also states this on the tube itself.
It is easy to apply just screw the bottom of the tube once/twice etc you will see some holes at the top of the sponge, just apply to the lips as usual.
Unfortunately the sponge applicator has a tendency to soak some of the product up of every application so you feel like your losing some gloss all the time, thus using more. But it does give a nice look to the lips without dragging.
This lipgloss isn't as runny as other lipglosses so I feel a lipliner isn't needed and I haven't needed one yet.
The texture isn't as thick as MAC Lipglosses but there not far off, they wont slide off your lips and bleed onto your skin.
Each lipgloss has a different smell, more of a fruity minty smell that isn't overwhelming but just a nice fragrance.
The lipgloss itself comes in a clear tube with a clear screw bottom to get product out. In the middle of the tub it reads "elf Moisture Care Lip Colour". The product itself is small, if you use everyday it wont be long until you need to purchase another one as there is such a little amount.
Even on the packaging and on the actual product it doesn't state how big it is, which I think is misleading to customers.
As the tube is clear you can see how much product you have left.
I bought Bark, which is a light brown nude and Baby Lips, which is a pretty light pink.
I bought this lipgloss when I was buying other elfs products. I bought two colours in Bark and Baby Lips. On the actual site the picture looks bigger and it looks like you are getting a decent amount of product for £1.50 each. Little did I know when I receive it there would be hardly nothing there. Everyday wear would last a few weeks or less and I would have to re purchase costing me more money.
When I applied theses glosses I was actually surprised how lovely they felt on my lips. Not sticky, a lovely fruity smell and nice colour. Like with any other lipgloss though your hair does get stuck to your lips.
When applied to the back of my hand as a swatch and tried to rub away my hand felt a little greasy.
They make the lips look glossy and full, although when drinking and eating this lip gloss will come off, thus applying and wasting more product that you have very little of in the first place.
Unlike other lipglosses this product doesn't dry my lips out, they actually feel smooth and hydrated.
I don't like the way their website makes their products look bigger than they actual are. You think you're getting great value for money and in reality your not. I am not saying this for all their products as some do last a long time but for their lipglosses especially.
~Price and Where to Buy~
You can purchase elf Moisture Care Lip Colour off http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk for £1.50 each.
~Would I Recommend/Purchase Again~
Yes and no.
Yes because their cheap and lovely colours.
No because you're better off buying a tube off another company for more money but at least it will last you more than a few weeks. Costing you less money in the long run.
I bought this lip gloss as part of my effort to cut back on how much I'd been spending on cosmetics, as it only costs £1.50 which is much cheaper than the brands I had previously been using.
It looks surprisingly good quality when you see the packaging, it's a nice clear plastic tube which you can see the colour of the gloss through it, and it does look quite nice. It has a sponge tip applicator where you have to twist the bottom of the tube to get some gloss to come out onto the sponge then just glide the sponge over your lips.
The gloss makes my lips tingle slightly when I apply it, I think this must be because of the vanilla mint flavour of the gloss, but it's not uncomfortable or painful. It feels nice on the lips, is not too sticky, and it does glide on nice and easily and you can get an even coat with no problems at all with the sponge applicator.
There are 8 colours to choose from, the one I have is called Caramel candy, which is a very light brownish colour, which looks really nice on. It gives a sheer wash of colour rather than being bold like a lipstick, and has a shimmer to it which makes your lips look really nice.
It feels very moisturising when I first apply it and for a while afterwards, but I found that after wearing it for a night out it made my lips unbelievably dry and they looked quite disgusting really. I think if you keep reapplying it every half hour then it's ok, but if you leave it for longer between applying it then it just dries out the lips really badly in between. Because of this I don't think i'd buy it again even though it does look really nice on.
Another Elf product, this one I was probably the most impressed with...until the other day. But we'll get to that in a second.
The New Moisture Care Lip Color is what I would describe as a lip stain rather than a gloss, which comes in eight shades, ranging from pale beige/nude, to bright red, to brown. It's "intensive hydrating elements" (which Elf does not list) are supposed to make your lips soft and supple.
So does it work? Yes...but I did encounter a fairly gross problem with the product (read on...)
The product comes in a pen-style tube with a slanted applicator, however instead of being made of the usual synthetic foamy material, it is soft and cottony. At first I thought this was nice as it's softer, although I did notice that a lot of the product seemed to get sucked into that, so it seemed like maybe it was wasting a bit. Not only that but you have to twist the pen about 15 times to activate, so by the time you are ready to use it, there is a lot less product than you would initially anticipate.
I find that each time you use the lip colour, you need to twist the pen. I would advise twisting only once, because even if you can't see any dots of it on the surface, they will appear when you rub the applicator onto your lips.
Now, I have only had this product for around three weeks, and I use it fairly regularly, at least two to three times a week. So imagine my horror when I came to use it and found a small patch of MOULD on the applicator! I suppose this is why other brands don't use cotton applicators. This is also why you should only twist once, so there is not excess lingering on the cotton swab.
I must admit that because I'm so struck on the sheer colour (I chose Cherry Tart, which is pretty bright but I have dark red lips so it looked great), I was incredibly gross and scraped off the mould (there was only a tiny amount..but still), picked off any cotton that might have touched it, and kept using it after a quick rinse, vowing never to twist out too much product again. I mean, I'm not actually INGESTING it, so I guess I'll live.
The fact that I am prepared to use this after such an encounter must tell you something about the product itself - it really does leave my lips feeling nice both while I'm wearing it (not at all sticky) and after, and I love the subtle vanilla-mint taste and smell (exactly like a Murray Mint)!
I will probably buy more. As with all Elf products, they cost £1.50, so it's hardly breaking the bank. Although I am much more careful about how much product I twist out now!
UPDATE - Yes only a day after this review, I went to use the lip colour and it smelled disgusting like mildew. So I've thrown it away. Therefore deducting another star which is such a shame because I loved it! I have contacted Elf and will update as to what happens!
SECOND UPDATE - Elf replied right away and a replacement was on my doorstep the next day, which I've had no troubles with!
