I bought this in one of many ELF hauls after it was recommended by a few bloggers as one of ELF's better quality products, as they can be a bit hit and miss. I thought for £1.50 if it wasn't up to scratch at least I hadn't wasted much money !
I got it in shade Lilac Petal, which is a light pink colour. It comes in quite a small squeezy tube, much like their tinted moisturiser, with a small nib at the end, so you never squeeze out too much product which is a plus. It has a very sweet smell, but it isn't overpowering and disappears once on the skin.
I generally use this to highlight my cheek bones and just below my eyebrows. ELF claim it can be used on the lips as well but I really don't think that would be a very flattering look ! It's just shimmery and not glittery at all and in my opinion it's a really nice shade, especially if you have paler skin like me. However I do find this quite hard to blend on my cheeks at times and it can rub a bit, so I find it best to apply it with a brush rather than your fingers. I find this to be really good at just brightening up my complexion a bit on days where I don't want to wear much makeup, as it creates quite a nice glow.
I bought the Spotlight version of ELF's Shimmering Facial Whip after reading online that it's a good dupe for Benefit's HighBeam highlighter.
The packaging isn't very exciting; but I suppose the lack of fancy packet helps keep the costs down. To get the product out, you have to squeeze it out of the tube, which can make the amount you get out a little tricky to control.
Once you've got a suitable amount out though, the application is dead easy. I smooth this on, just a tiny bit, as a little really does go a long way, and then blend with my fingers. I find it blends in really easily, and quickly, giving me a subtle highlight without any glitteriness.
The colour is light and pretty, and would suit a good range of skin-tones. It's proving to be long-lasting so far, staying out throughout my day at work.
Is it a dupe for High Beam? Not really, but for the price, it's close enough.
I first thought about buying one of e.l.f's facial whips the first time I visited their website, as it sounded like pretty good product. When I did eventually make my first e.l.f purchases though, I went with one of these shimmering cuties in the hope of brightening up my under eye area. At 1.50 a tube, I wasn't worried about the prospect of hating it as after all, it wouldn't exactly put me out of pocket.
The e.l.f shimmering facial whips come in a variety of colours and are availed from the essentials line. They are designed to be a multi-purpose product in that you can use anywhere on the face to instantly highlight, as a base for eyeshadow, or on the lips. I bought this in the shade Lilac Petals, which is a pale baby pink kind of colour, and has a sweet scent to it. The consistency of the product itself is fairly creamy, and the tube only has a small hole through which the product is dispensed, so you can easily control how much product you use. It is very shimmery, so I wouldn't recommend applying this over makeup, other than on the eyes, not unless you're wanting to go for that overly shimmery look. Whenever I do use this, I usually just apply a small amount to the area under my eyes, to brighten up my dark circles, and then I continue to apply my makeup as normal. Occasionally though, I will also apply it along my brow bone to highlight.
The overall product is a lot smaller than you might expect, although despite its minute size, I only use a tiny amount when I do use it so it will last a long time. I don't use it as much anymore though, as I don't feel I need to. However I do occasionally use it for nights out. I'm not sure whether I will purchase another one, just because it is so shimmery (more than I expected) and I only really use it on my eyes, but I use shimmery eye shadows anyway so this facial whip just becomes an unnecessary step to the routine. BUT if you do feel like your face is in need of a bit of brightening, then these shimmering facial whips are a cheap and easy way to give your makeup a more fresh faced look. The quickest way I've found to do this is to mix a little with my foundation on the back of my hand, and then apply as normal. It does look a little shimmery at first, but a bit of powder easily tones the shimmer down.
Usually I'm a fan of cosmetics/toiletries that have more than one function because I'm bit of a lazy girl at times!!
I've been working my way through E.L.F's products to see what are the hits and what the misses - for around £1.50 per product it's inevitable that there will be some products that don't quite hit the mark.
E.L.F's facial whips can be used as a highligher and as a lip colour and this seemed like a good idea!
Firstly, don't expect much product for your money, it's only £1.50 and therefore perhaps this is understandable. On the positive side it means you'll use it quicker meaning that you won't have cosmetics lingering around for ages becoming unusable. The product itself is in a squeezy type tube and comes out through quite a small hole so it's easy to control how much product you get out of it. The liquid you get smells like oranges - which is on purpose by the way (e.l.f call it 'burnt orange') but i'm not sure how much I like it because it smells very synthetic. There are around 7 facial whip colours in the range and i'm pretty sure you will find a colour to suit everyone.
In terms of a lip colour, for me this is a definite no. It's just way too shiney and shimmery. If you are very young, you could probably get away with it and maybe even on a night out...but as a daytime look it just looks awful (i'm only in my early 30's but I just can't carry it off!).
For a cheek colour/highlighter I do quite like it, but I don't love it. Because of the shimmery-ness I personally only like to use this product in the summer when my whole look is a bit more care free and fun - in the winter when i'm wrapped up under a scarf I don't really want loads of shimmer.
So i'd recommend the product, but avoid if you don't like overly shimmery colours or fragranced cosmetics.
This was among a few other items that I bought from ELF, and it my favourite by far. I love it! On the ELF website everyone was raving about this so I was quite hopeful and I was not disappointed!
It gives a lovely shimmer, not too dark and easily blendable. For the past year I was using Benefit cheek tint which stains as soon as you put on quite a dark colour (the one I got was anyway) and so is really quite difficult to blend. This is such a nice change! The shimmer instantly higlights your cheeks and stays on for a fair few hours. This product is oily, which is similar to the ELF all over cover stick I bought, but on the cheeks oily is not a problem. It glides on, shimmers really nice and subtle but not so subtle that you can't see it. It creates a really natural look, but I do have to disagree with the no greasy after feel description of this product. If you use some sort of face powder (I bought the ELF mineral powder) I find that you have to use the shimmering facial whip AFTER your powder, which is unusual as I have always powdered to finish. I have found that the shimmer is lessened a lot if you use powder after so I'd advise putting this on last.
I also love the smell of this (again it's the orangey scent) and for the price I'd definitely recommend it! I recommended it to my mum after a week! I just wish it came in a bigger tube! But to be fair you only need such a tiny amount on each cheek that it should last you a while. A great buy!
I have recently become aware of elf cosmetics after reading a number of reviews online and as a lover of makeup and beauty I thought it was about time I took a wander over there to see what all the fuss was about. This wander resulted in quite a big haul from elf, one of these items was the shimmering facial whip. I have to say that this is the best £1.50 I have ever spent.
WHAT IS IT?
The shimmering facial whip is basically a high lighting cream that can be used for multiple purposes such as on your cheeks, eyes and lips. Personally I prefer to use this product just on my cheeks.
This product is currently available in 8 different shades on the elf website. These are all fairly neutral pink tones which enable you to blend the colour to your natural skin tone. There is also a peach colour and a whiter shade which I suppose would be used on your eyes.
USING THE PRODUCT
The product comes in a small 9.5 g plastic tube with a screw top lid. The packaging is similar to that of many lip glosses by which you have to squeeze the tube to allow the product to be released. As the spout to release the product is quite thin only a small amount is released at a time which is good as you do not need to use excessive amounts of this product to get results.
As the product is released you will notice that it smells like oranges, this does not smell very natural and quite artificial but when the product is rubbed into your skin the smell quickly disappears.
To use this product I squeeze a small amount onto my finger tips and dab under my eyes and around my cheek bones. This not only makes my eyes look brighter but gives my cheeks a more contoured look.
The product blends easily into my skin and surprisingly does not look layered or leave any residue.
Initially I was expecting my cheeks to look a bit strange with 2 shades but the facial whip does look very natural. The colour I chose was lilac petal which is quite a nude colour.
The effect that this product has on my cheeks is fantastic. It gives a lovely pearl like finish that reflects the light and makes my entire face look brighter.
At only £1.50 I have to say this is an absolute bargain. It has quickly become one of my favourite makeup products and will definitely be a repurchase. Highly recommended.
--also on ciao--
I was browsing the E.L.F (Eyes Lips Face) website during a 50% promotion and decided I may as well try a bit of everything and so I chucked a couple of products into the basket. They arrived promtly as with everything I have ordered through ELF and I decided to give them a try as I was intrigued to know what a facial whip actually was.
*~* Price and Availability *~*
The regular price for this is just £1.50, with regular offers these can often be found a lot cheaper. An excellent bargain if you ask me.
It is only available from the E.L.F website in the UK, however in America it can be bought from various stores as well as online websites for around the world. It can definately be picked up but just to mention in addition to keep a look out in TKMaxx as sometimes the products can be found there for a little cheaper than online.
*~* Packaging *~*
There isn't much packaging to this at all. A piece of cardboard with some plastic attached secures the tube in place. Once opened there is a very small, around 2 inches tall, tube which is transparent allowing you to view the inside product.
A white screw cap allows you to dispense the product easily and I have to say it works very well. Overall i am pleased with the packaging.
*~* The Whip *~*
I thought that being liquid this may be a little runny and not that effective but I was suprised when I first tested it to find that the mixture is not overly thick but not too runny either, it has the sort of texture of a mousse I feel which is actually very nice. It is smooth to touch and has a very subtle glimmer to it. I am glad it isn't exceptionally sparkly and what is included is just enough to give you a little bit of sparkle without overdoing it.
There are a variety of colours and the one I chose is a pale pinkish colour which I know suits me. I was happy with the comparison between the tube in front of me and the image online in the fact they were very similar which I can sometimes find a problem with E.L.F
*~* My Experience *~*
I would personally consider this to be a cheek highlighter rather than the use it is supposedly intended for. When applied to my eyes, although light enough I still felt it a little heavy in comparison to an eyeliner or eyeshadow of some sort. With the colour I found on my eyes it was just shimmery, no pigmentation at all which is a bit of a waste and I just felt I looked silly.
On my lips again I wasn't all too happy. It felt rather gunky and I wasn't a fan, it was almost as if something was stuck there and it was just uncomfortable and I ended up removing it so I can't comment on how long it lasts.
Where I feel this whip does do it's job and does it well is as a blusher/highlighter for cheeks. The first time I used this it was easy to apply, felt lovely and creamy and not at all thick and heavy. It added slight colour and shimmer but not too much. I wouldn't advise a lot of coats as the glitter could get messy, I always find I have to thoroughly wash my hands after use. I haven't noticed any sort of scent apart from that regular powdery make up scent which I don't mind at all, especially considering it doesn't transfer o linger.
I also found this to last a decent amount of time, although I could still feel it there it wasn't uncomfortable and stayed effectively in place until I wished to remove it. The shimmer was possibly a little duller than it had been originally but that's to be expected.
It was gentle on my skin and I experienced absoluteley no problems what so ever from using this product. On removal it is exceptionally easy to just wipe away with just 1 wipe and leaves no marks or soreness behind.
Overall I would say that at £!.50 you should give a go for yourself, it may be I am just not used to the textures but I wasn't a huge fan apart from as a blusher. I would buy this again provided it was on sale.
In the past year I have got something I have always wanted! That was a debit card! I never had one and used to envy people who could late night shop online and stuff like that! Now I can but it costs me an absolute fortune lol.
I have read a lot of reviews on here about E.L.F (Eyeslipsface) and been curious for a while now to make some purchases. I love make-up and when I mooched about online was shocked at alot of make-up only costing £1.50 an item and with lots to choose from too! Also bear in mind that E.L.F often have promotions on and the day I placed my order I was able to get a 32 piece eyeshadow compact (worth £9.00) free if I spent £10.00 and postage and packaging on everything you purchase usually costs £2.95, well unless you spend over £30.00 and then postage and packaging is free. I spent around £12.00 and got 6 items and a freebie and that included postage and packaging so I was delighted.
The first item that I ordered was this shimmering facial whip. I bought it to add a bit of glam to my face for a night out in mind and it is suitable for the eyes lips and the face and I do like multi-purpose little products.
The tube comes on a light peach and white card on that card we are told that it is E.L.F (eyes lips face) Shimmering Facial Whip 'Face' and that it is to 'Highlight cheeks, eyes & lips' and the size is stated (which is 0.3 oz/9.5g) and the colour is stated. On the back of the card other information listed tells me a bit about the product and directions for use are listed as are ingredients used, warnings are given and contact details for the manufacturer are given too. The packaging is nice enough in appearance, the information is well.... informative and understandable and to get to the tube of product you simply pull it away from the card backing and pull off the protective see-through plastic that encases it to said card.
A Bit About The Product According To The information Listed On The Back Of The Card:
Shimmering Facial Whip
Naturally illuminates for a dew finish
Soothes and conditions skin
No sticky, greasy feel
Safe, gentle formula
The Product Itself:
The product comes in a small robust see-through plastic tube that has a white twist on/off lid to the bottom of it concealing a 'snout' (a small length of see-through plastic you squeeze the product through). On the front of the tube we are told that it is Elf Shimmering Facial Whip and on the back ingredients are listed and contact details for the manufacturer are once again given all in silver metallic writing so it all looks smart and sleek and I have found the writing to not come or wear off at all but to stay in good shape!
To use this is very simple indeed and I love everything about it. I simply give the tube a very gentle shake before using it otherwise I find that the actual colour part comes away from a clear liquid and you want all of it of course to be blended.
I dab this on to my lips, I have a light shade so I put this on my eyelids and it acts as an eye brighter or as a cheekbone highlighter. It's a multi tasking little product this is and you only need a very small amount no matter where you apply it to and it can be used alone or over foundation....basically however you please.
This simply glides on and is a light unsticky formulation. I find this slightly harder to blend on my cheeks as it dries reasonably quick but lets talk cheekbones for a second shall we????
This creates a none glittery, simply shimmery look on them. Use it alone and over cheekbones or use it in conjunction with a blusher. This really is amazing and I'm lucky I have cheekbones and this really does highlight them and make them stand out.
Because it isn't a thick and heavy formulation it glides over the eyelids too and gives a soft shimmery look there that lasts all day long and really isn't agitating at all. It doesn't crack or flake over time due to it being such a thin formulation and I didn't buy it to use as an eyeshadow but it really looks brilliant.
I also am not a mad fan of applying things to my lips. However this blends, dries and gently hydrates and you can't feel it at all. The appearance of it once applied is like having the full colour pigmentation of a lipstick with the shimmery look of a gloss that stays put quite a while.
For me this has now become a make-up bag must have and I'm so impressed with it. The quality is excellent, its kind to the skin and so very versatile and has a gorgeous sweetie sort of natural fragrance to it. It stays put on my cheeks and eyes all day and on my lips a good couple of hours which is more than alot of other lip products I use!
I own the lilac petal shade but there 8 shades in total which all appear light shades of pinks and peaches, browns and like a clearish option and personally I am going to buy them all!
Available from Elf.com.
Normally when I purchase a facial highlighter I always go for a powder one to which I would always end up disappointed due to the powder not lasting throughout the day on the cheek area, you can rub it off easily and you're unable to apply it anywhere else on your face without looking like I have sprayed it on my face, so recently I have gone for the liquid kind and have been very happy with the results.
I have heard good things about this product in the past but they only had shades that we're pink or lilac shimmer and I didn't want that so I never bothered, until recently when I went on their website eyeslipsface.co.uk and seen they had a new shade called Spotlight, a beautiful white pearl shade that I have been after for ages. I promptly purchased this product for a purse bursting £1.50.
As always I received my order very quickly and I couldn't wait to try it out. You receive 9.5g of product that comes in a clear plastic tube with a white screw off lid.
Upon opening the lid and squeezing some product out to the back of my hand I am surprised to find the product isn't as runny as I thought it might be, but its not too think either, ELF just have the balance right on this. With cheaper cosmetics you are always left with a horrid smell, fortunately this product smells a lot like oranges to me but once you have took a small amount and rubbed it into your skin the orange smell disappears, which is a relief but I would rather smell of oranges than something fowl. The shade is opaque when squeezed out but when rubbed in the skin it looks so delicate and natural looking.
Like with all other liquid highlighters there are many ways you can apply this fabulous product and my favourite ways are, as a cheek highlighter, this is the main reason why I purchased this product. Now the lovely winter weather has arrived skin can tend to look dull and flat, but remember this product is not just for winter. Simply apply a small amount on the highest point of your cheekbone (above where you apply blush) and gently blend into the skin with dabbing movements, applying a little more if you feel you need it. Straight away you will notice your face seems lifted, alive and bright.
Below your eyebrows and above them, really pulls the face upwards, instant facelift.
A small amount in the inner corners of your eyes makes you look wide awake, a lot of makeup artists use this trick with white eye shadow but I find it hard to blend and this works brilliantly.
Above and below your cupids bow, gives you the most beautiful pout, just remember to use it lightly here.
Mix a small amount with your foundation to give you a all over glow and mix some with your body moisturiser and apply to your legs, this will make your legs look more toned, softer and slimmer.
There are so many ways you can experiment with a liquid highlighter the list is endless.
The best thing I like about this product is it never feels greasy on my skin and I have oily skin. It doesn't cause breakouts and with vitamin B, C and E inside it is also good for your skin.
I found it incredibly easy to blend onto my skin without looking streaking or greasy in anyway what so ever, just simply glides on.
My main thought with this product is it won't last through the day so I carried it around with me when I went out. Of course as the product feels so light and delicate on the skin I forgot it was there until I arrived back home and to my surprise the highlighter was still there on my cheekbones shimmering away. It did however disappear from above and below my cupids bow but I find with any highlighter it always disappears from there anyway.
I have applied this product on bare skin, with liquid foundation and with power foundation on and it never cakes, looks dry or clumpy. It really is a winner in everyway.
Even though ELF Shimmering Facial Whip is shimmery and actually does have fine glitter partials in that are hardly noticeable, you won't look done up, instead you will look natural dewy and glowing.
Less is certainly more with this product, although it is a little tube you need such a small amount it will last you a long time and if you we're to purchase another you know £1.50 won't hurt unlike Benefit Highbeam at £17.50 a bottle.
Since I have had this I have never reached for my powder highlighter and I doubt I ever will, it is that good.
Im guessing not very many of you have heard of e.l.f ....Well this is a fantatsic makeup company that sells high quality , yet very cheap makeup products. I stumbled across this company when I was browsing the web one saturday afternoon looking for bargain makeup products .
I have tried many products from this range including the hypershine lipgloss and the natural radiance blusher . My favourite , however, has to be the shimmering facial whip which I think is a little bit of beauty magic which is yet to be discovered by so many women. This product costs £1.50 and creates a spectacular glow on the cheekbones and all over the face . I wear my facial whip underneath my foundation and then I apply a small amount ot my cheekbones to illuminate.
There are 8 colours avaialable , but I tend to favour 'citrus' as this seems to compliment my peachy skintone perfetcly . However if you take a look at their website (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk ) then you can browse at the different shades to find the one that best suits you.
Each of the facial whips are scented with sugar orange which smells really nice when applying to your face.
The facial whip also contains Vitamin B,C,E which helps soothe the skin and boosts radiance.
If you have read any of my other reveiws you have probably guessed that I love to find a beauty bargain , and I have definately found one here, from e.l.f .
I love this product, I have a few shades and there lovely on the own if you just want to highlight a few key features, I also use it on my lips with a dab of vaseline so it has a bit of movement. It comes in quite a small tube but a small amount goes a long way, for £1.50 I would definately recommend this product to anyone.
I discovered Elf - Eyes Lips Face about 3 or 4 months ago. At first I did not buy anything as I was unsure of the quality as most products retail at between £1.50- £2, so I didn't think they would be any good at all.
Whilst Elf had free postage on, I decided I had not really lost anything if I tried their products and I ordered an eyeliner and the shimmering facial whip after having read many reviews. I'm a bit of a make up junkie and it is even better when it is cheap.
The shimmering facial whip comes in several different shades, I ordered Pink Lemonade. I have to say it is a must multi purpose make up item for anybodys bag. It can be applied to eyes, lips or cheeks.
I am quite pale so I mix it with my foundation to put on my cheeks and it adds a subtle healthy glow. I don't know whether this is down to the added vitamins -vitamin B, C and E or not but they do claim to brighten and soothe skin, which I have to agree with. I have to say it makes a great eye shadow that lasts all day and I really like the colour, unfortunately I find the shade that I use too bright for my lips but I am sure others would disagree.
The only problem I had is that if say I don't use it for a couple of weeks the pproduct goes slightly watery but I don't know whether this is down to where I store it or otherwise.
Definately worth the £1.50
Instantly brighten and soothe skin with no greasy after-feel /
