E.L.F Studio Conditioning Lip Balm
Advantages: Price, colour range is lovely, high pigment, not sticky
Disadvantages: Staying power is not great, this will not moisturise your lips alone all day, too much packaging
***Why I want the product***
I love all things lip products, especially when it states it is a lip treatment, balm or moisturising. I have very dry lips all year round, even with my best lip treatments, which I still have and love, my lips can still get dry if I do not keep up with the treatments.
After applying lip treatments I still love the look of colour on the lips, it makes me look polished, like I've made an effort even though I may not have applied a lot of makeup or on no makeup days. A touch of gloss, lip colour always makes a difference and brightens the face.
When E.L.F Cosmetics brought out Studio Lip Conditioning Balms I could not wait to get my hands on one.
***What to E.L.F say?***
This conditioning balm gets your lips treated with a splash of colour that is smooth, soft and none sticky. The balm helps to condition dry, chapped lips with vitamins including A and E and an added benefit of SPF 15 to protect lips against the sun's rays.
***How many shades are available?***
Currently there are six shades in the collection and these range from Nice and Natural, which is the shade I have to pinks and reds.
***Packaging of the product***
I was surprised at how big the product is; although you get 7.5g of product the packaging is something else. Measuring the height it is 1.3 inches and width is 1.4 inches. The packaging is larger than your average lip gloss and seems such a waste of packing when it could have been made so much smaller and better for the environment. If you are a person who takes a tiny handbag out with you then you will be leaving this at home.
After all that the packaging actually looks sleek and more expensive than it really is. The bottom half where the product lie is clear with an 3D affect when you rotate the pot. A small round sticker on the side tells you the shade and expiry time, which is 12 months. The black screw off lid sets off the clear half perfectly with elf Conditioning Lip Balm SPF 15 written at the top in white.
***Tell me all about the product***
Unscrewing the black lid I am greeted with a white plastic cover that sits over the opening to the product. This is something I have not seen before on a balm/gloss and is a nice addition with regards to stop the product from drying out and hygienic reasons.
I have wanted a lovely nude colour for such a long time but I find due to my very pale skin all nude colours wash me out even more. Inside the pot Nice and Natural looks a light brown with pink undertones, I also find the scent very nice and smells of chocolate.
Dipping my finger into the pot I find a little tricky due to the bulky packaging and deep pot. Long finger nailed women will have to scoop a little with their nail.
Scooping a little out with the tip of my finger, which I still found balm under my nail. It is very soft and creamy. It feels thicker than a gloss but lighter than a lipstick.
Applying a small amount to my lips feels lovely and soft and best of all the colour pigment is brilliant. Nice and Natural really is a beautiful coloured nude that suits my pale skin and would go with anything, it is my to go coloured balm. On my lips the balm has a lovely glossy shine to it that is not over done but makes my lips look healthy. It never feels sticky and does not feel heavy on the lips.
Staying power of this balm is not great, because it is not a lipstick you cannot make a stain out of it so transfer onto cups easily leaving you needing to apply more and the same goes with eating and general wear.
I would not rely on this product alone to keep my lips moisturised through the day, I use this more of the colour but I find it is not drying on the lips like some glosses and lipsticks can. If your lips are dry before application this balm does not show them up more.
***Price and availability***
You can purchase these conditioning balms from eyeslipsface.co.uk in the studio category for £3.50
***Would I purchase again?***
Yes and no, no because I have so many lip products but yes because his lip balm from E.L.F is lovely and such a beautiful colour. I want a nice pink shade next.
If you are not a fan of lip products but like a bit of colour and gloss on the lips that look healthy and not over done, this product will be perfect for you.
I have had my Conditioning Lip Balm for a good few months now and I still am nowhere near to running out.
