Maybe it is just me, and I don't read the website properly but everything I buy from elf seems to be smaller than expected when arrives. This eyeshadow is no exception - it's tiny ! Here are my thoughts.
One great thing about elf products is that almost everything in a pan comes with a mirror of some form, and this comes with a very handy little one. This doesn't come with a brush but I have a huge brush set anyway so this isn't really required. The packaging is a slim black rectangle with elf written in white on the front e studio line underneath it, there is a plastic window so that we can see the shadow inside. These also come with a small plastic slip on the inside to product the powder, I think this should be thrown away but I keep it. I love this packaging I think it not only looks classy but is sturdy and useful too.
The colour I have is white and I use this as an eyeshadow base after my primer, and it comes off with a slight sparkle. I like this as it isn't too much, just a hint. When taking the shadow from the pan there is some slight ell out but somehow this does not happen when it is being used on the eye.
This is very easy to apply but does not blend quite as well as I would like and is a very bright white, I would rather it didn't stick out so much. This may be better for a more adventurous look as oppose to just everyday makeup. With a good primer this will last all day and although you won't need to, this colour is easily blend able.
Price and Availability
In this country we can only buy this online and it retail for £3.75, but elf do normally have two big sales a year a 50% off a and a 60% so it is best to grab these then. The website tends to be well stocked but there are always a couple items sold out - such as the makeup hold spray.
Great eyeshadow that is a little too bright and the pan a bit smaller than I thought 4 dooyoo stars.
As some of you already know I'm quite a fan of E.L.F products, I've never ventured into their studio range before though. The studio range is a bit more expensive than their normal £1.50 per item products and what caught my eye a while ago in there was the single eyeshadows which sell for £3.50 each. Just for those who don't know E.L.F can be found at www.eyeslips face.co.uk.
The single eyeshadows come in a range of 10 different colours ranging from a very pale almost whilte one, through light colours, browns then to charcoal. I debated between a few of the browns but settled on one called "coffee bean" which is a nice warm dark brown. The information on the site is: "Convenient and easy to apply, just layer the color to achieve the desired intensity. Apply wet or dry for a fabulous look that never creases or fades" and that the product is very soft in texture. I rarely use anything other than lip balm on my lips but being pale with pale green eyes I like to highlight my eyes a bit so I ordered one of these eyeshadows to try.
The eyeshadow arrived quickly, as all E.L.F orders do, and came in a smart black box. Inside the actual product is in a black plastic case with a window that shows the colour of the product so if you buy lots of these you'll be able to see which one is which. Inside there's a nice big slab of actual eyeshadow and a little mirror in the lid but no applicator so if you wanted to take this out with you you'd need to take a brush unless you're a dab hand with your fingertips, I'm not however and needed a brush!
I like really soft powder eyeshadows as they don't pull on the skin as you apply them and blend easily so I used this the very next day. It is lovely and soft and a few strokes from a brush gets plenty on the bristles to apply. It goes on easily and the colour stays true and if you add more you get a more intense look. Using the product wet gives a very dark brown look which I would only use as a liner but I don't very often use this wet. As for creasing, like all eyeshadows it does crease on me over time but it takes longer for it to do so than alot of other eyeshadows. I can get several hours wear out of this before I get any creasing and it isn't severe creasing as some eyeshadows give. It also fades over time but I'd be a bit surprised if it didn't if I'm honest, I think most manufacturers claim ther product doesn't crease or fade but in my experience they all do over time, it just depends how long that time is.
To remove it just takes a swipe with a cotton wool pad and some make up remover, I use baby lotion on my eyes and that removes it fine. Since I bought this I've used it every day and really like it, so much so I intend to buy a few of the other colours from the range. I don't use the mirror as it's tiny and I would like some kind of applicator if I'm honest to make it a more convenient product but I'm happy with it. A 4 star rating from me.
