“ Brand: E.L.F. / Type: Concealers „
I was browsing the E.L.F (Eyes Lips Face) website during the last ever 50% promotion and decided I may as well try a bit of everything and so I chucked one of these concealers into the basket. They arrived promtly as with everything I have ordered through ELF and I decided to give it a try, even though honestly concealer is not something I use a lot of.
*~* Price and Availability *~*
This is only available from the E.L.F website in the UK, however in America it can be bought from various stores as well as online websites for around the world. It can definately be picked up but just to mention in addition to keep a look out in TKMaxx as sometimes the products can be found there for a little cheaper than online.
The cost of this is an incredibly tiny £1.50, a fabulous price if you ask me. I paid just 75p for mine so an even better deal but I would be more than happy to pay full price for this.
*~* Packaging *~*
This comes as most of the basic E.L.F products do attached to a baby pink card with a transparent plastic cover keeping it attached to the card. The card gives various details such as the colour, size, contact information, ingredients, instructions how to use, company logo etc. Very informative but nothing special.
Inside the plastic covering is the product itself which looks just like a very plain lipgloss tube which is clear allowing for the colour to be seen clearly. The lid is screwed on and easy to attach and detach whilst inside the tube attached to the lid is an applicator again like that of a lipgloss with a spongey end allowing for precise application with not too much being applied at once.
It looks very basic and honestly quite cheap but fot the price you really can't complain and also concealer is not something I take out with me so it's only me that see's it. I do like the application method and the overall design, pretty unique as it's not something I've come across before with this particular type of make up.
*~* The Concealer Itself *~*
This is available in 7 varying shades with ivory being the lightest which is what I opted for having very very pale skin. E.L.F is the only brand I have come across that has a shade that matches me perfectly all other brands are still too dark for me. This is no exception as once again it was a perfect match to my colouring.
On pulling out the wand you are greeted with a medium thickness of the liquid, not too heavy neither too runny so you get the perfect application. I add just a little to the area's required and then blend gently for an even look.
I was very pleased with the results of this, it managed to cover up unsightly red patches and those darned spots that appear which personally I just have to burst making them red and angry a lot of the time. My skin was even and had no reaction which can sometimes be a problem as I do have sensitive skin. It never went patchy or dried out quickly and it lasted all day along with the rest of my make up which I was very pleased about as sometimes I find it can easily rub off.
Removal was also very easy with either just water or by using a make up wipe, I never had to scrub for it to come off it was very gentle and easy again another plus point.
There is a very slight hint of sweetness which is similar to that of the Flawless Foundation which I am a fan of, it doesn't stay on the skin so it's not a problem if you don't like it. It's a very fresh scent with a hint of sweetness so a bit different again.
As E.L.F are against animal testing and also pretty natural with the ingredients so a guilt free option to choose from.
*~* Overall *~*
I cannot recommend E.L.F as a company high enough, in my opinion they are fantastic and I am so happy I was introduced to them. For this product I am also very happy, especially for the miniscule price tag it comes along with. I would say that this is definately a staple piece of any make up case now. I use it on my eyelids as a primer which although it works it doesn't do as good a job but it's not what it's intended for so no problem there. For covering up red patches or spots this is perfect. It is smooth and creamy, easy to apply and remove, has long lasting power, an alternative application, a great price tag and from a great company. In addition this is an excellent match for paler skin tones who struggle to find a shade suitable and is animal cruetly free. Is there anything else you could ask for?
ELF (eyeslipsface.co.uk) recently had their last ever 50% sale (gutted!) so I stocked up on quite a bit of stuff, and I decided to give the correcting concealer a go as I have been interested in trying it for a while due to reading good reviews and at 75p with the discount I couldn't resist!
The packaging for this concealer is very average - it comes in a plastic, transparent 2.3 gram tube, with the liquid concealer visible. The product name and the ELF logo are displayed in black writing. The packaging is quite cheap and bland looking but for the price you can't really expect the packaging to be anything special, and the packaging isn't what matters anyway. I do really like the concealer's applicator though as it is just like a lipgloss applicator - a long wand with a sponge brush at the end which is really gentle on my skin and also spreads the product evenly. It is not a very generous size though so I usually apply mine by dabbing a generous sized blob of it onto my cheeks and forehead (or where ever my blemishes are) via the applicator and then use my kabuki brush to blend, as this way I get more even coverage.
This concealer is available in 7 shades which vary from ivory to beige. I have quite pale skin at the minute as I can't be bothered with fake tan at the minute so I got the lightest shade available - ivory, which is a nice pale skin tone colour and it is well pigmented but a little darker than the swatch on the ELF website which is annoying as I expected it to be lighter than it is. The concealer is very smooth and provides light coverage. The formula of this concealer is very smooth and lightweight, meaning it blends easily. It has quite a wet feeling to it but it's not sticky or greasy and because of how lightweight it is it usually doesn't last for much longer than a few hours before it totally fades. Because of this I apply a generous amount of the concealer onto any of my flaws over the top of my foundation but it can also be used as a primer or on its own if you're more of an 'au naturale' kind of person but like I said it doesn't last for a substantial amount of time.
I also use this as an eye highlighter or on dark circles under my eyes, on spots/blemishes and as a foundation primer. It could also be used as an eyeshadow primer. I was really suprised by the smell of this concealer as it smells really sweet and citrusy. It is a very noticeable smell and I think it makes it a little tacky. As I said before this gives very light coverage so it doesn't really reduce the appearence of spots and redness unless used with a thicker concealer or a foundation which kind of makes it a bit pointless in my opinion. On a plus side the formula doesn't cake and it looks pretty natural in my opinion - it blends so well.
Ingredients wise, they are all very chemical sounding, however ELF are against animal testing so this is a guilt free cosmetic. This is a plus for me as I do not believe in animal testing. Overall, this is a decent concealer but I personally find the coverage to be too weak and the smell makes the product quite tacky in my opinion, however for the price I would definetly say it's a complete bargain so i'd reccomend getting a tube to try out if you like the sound of it.
One of my favourite places to browse online is E.L.F (Eyelipsface.com). I love make up and I love the fact that the prices on here for a whole host of products cost usually about £1.50 (unless you want mineral make up or compacts and the likes). Often I get emails from the site offering me money off and/or free postage on packaging (postage is usually £3.50 no matter the amount of products you order by the way) and the other week I had an offer offering me half price items to which I was simply unable to resist!
I decided to buy all my essentials and this was one I hadn't tried before from this brand. I get the odd spot and blemish that I like to try to cover up and usually pay out alot more on a concealer but decided that instead of paying its usual price of only £1.50 that it had to be worth a go at only 75p for a very decent 2.3g size of it!
The Packaging this concealer comes in is very simple indeed and is sturdy. It is mainly a see-through plastic tube with a longish silver twist on/off lid to the top of it with a white plastic 'wand' of a decent length within it and a smooth smallish white angled sponge to the base of that. Down the side of it and in silver writing we are told that it is Elf , Eyes Lips Face Tone Correcting Concealer and on the base of it that it is indeed an Elf product and the shade is stated. This comes in 7 shades from very light to really dark and on the website is shown. The packaging of this is simple enough and easy enough to open and close etc and doesn't look one bit cheap.
The Concealer Itself:
Well the colour I opted for is the lightest which is Ivory as I really am very pale skinned and rather ghostlike! I found the colour I chose according to the shade I was shown on the website to what arrived to be totally accurate which was pleasing!
You can apply this under or over make-up or wear it alone, me I use it the traditional way and apply it usually before applying my foundation. I apply this to anywhere that I have a little redness like on spots and find that it is a wet consistency and I only need a little of it.
This has no fragrance to it and is a little oily so a bit thin in its consistency. It is light though and I simply apply a dot with the applicator given and gently rub it in with my finger and it dries instantly. The oily feeling it has when it is being applied, its loses instantly thankfully and then that's it...you can choose to wear it alone as it is very natural (providing that you choose the right colour of course!) or continue applying make up as I do.
I find this to be really fantastic for me and my skin. It doesn't agitate my sensitive skin at all, is lightweight and does really light reflect which detracts from problems on the face. It gently covers up what I want not to be noticed in a very natural way indeed and is easy to remove when I want to along with the rest of my make up.
Being such a light formulation I did wonder if this would work but it really does. It reduced the appearance of redness around my spots and the likes all day long and I have a patch of darker skin for some reason on my forehead and it is brilliant at evening out the colour there for me!
None transferable, hard wearing this is really, really worth its full price of £1.50 but if you get it when its 75p like I did...I'd stock up now!
Only available from E.l.f.com
One of my favourite cosmetics companies is E.L.F., which stands for Eyes, Lips, Face. They are an online retailer and their UK web store can be reached at this address http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk. They have several different ranges of make-up, including their Basic, Mineral, and Studio lines. I love wearing make-up and have great fun experimenting with colours and different looks. It's nice to have lots of products to play around with but there are always a few items that become must-haves and form the basis of most of my 'faces'. I think E.L.F. is a great way to try out different products at a low cost, and I'm working my way through their items to see which ones I get on with.
This Tone Correcting Concealer is part of the Basic range and costs just £1.50 for a 2.3g amount of product. There are 7 different shades available to suit varying skin tones. I have this in the "Ivory" colour, which is the palest shade in the range.
Product description: "Multi-tonal silicon treatment masks skin tone imperfections and redness, leaving skin with a healthy glow."
It comes sealed in a cardboard backed blister pack which contains directions and ingredients listings on the back. The Concealer comes in a long plastic tube similar to some lip glosses. It has a screw top lid and there is a sponge tipped applicator wand attached to the inside of the lid.
Directions for use: Use sponge applicator to custom blend and apply makeup. Wear daily.
This Tone Correcting Concealer has an unusual formulation and feels different to other concealer products that I've used before. It has sort of a liquid feel but it is a little bit thicker than I expected and can feel a bit gungy. The concealer does spread easily over the skin and is simple to apply and to blend in. I usually swipe some of this over my problem areas using the sponge applicator, and then use my fingertips to blend it and and get a smooth even finish.
I have this in Ivory shade and it perfectly suits my natural pale skin tone. Unfortunately as well as having nice pale skin, I am also prone to a bit of redness over my nose, occasional blemishes, and permanent dark circles under my eyes. I wanted a versatile product that could deal with all of these areas and was sold by the name of this one, being a "Tone Correcting" Concealer I had high hopes that it would balance out my skin tone. Maybe because the concealer is so pale, or maybe because of the formulation, this does not provide a full enough coverage to mask my blemishes. When I have had spots the concealer does not disguise the redness and I have to layer up on foundation and other concealer instead (I think I have come to the conclusion that I prefer a normal cream concealer). It fares a little better for covering under eye dark circles, and this seems to lighten the area and make my eyes look brighter and less tired.
I don't really like to have to touch up my make-up endlessly through the day, and prefer hard working products that will do the job and last me through a day in the office without requiring maintenance. Annoyingly enough, this concealer may be easy to apply buy it does not cover blemishes properly and it fades away extremely quickly. Within a couple of hours the concealer will have fully disappeared, it seems to just melt away! This is a pain because after spending time and effort getting ready in the morning, it is then all ruined a few hours later. It's also important for a concealer to offer lasting results as this is a key item of make-up and hides all the bits that you want to cover up. It's no good if all the little imperfections are then showing again!
There is 2.3g of product within the tube, and although this doesn't sound like much it was enough to last me for a couple of months. I believe it could have lasted even longer if it were not for the fact that the applicator wand does not reach all the way down to the bottom of the tube. This means that when I was nearing the end of the tube - with still about 1/5 left - I was unable to get the remaining concealer out of the tube. I tried wiggling the applicator around and it still could not reach. I tried leaving the tube tilted so that the concealer could possibly move to another part of the tube where it could then be reached, but it seemed to be stuck to the bottom of the tube and I eventually gave up and threw the rest of it away. This was a bit of a let down, but seeing as it wasn't a very effective concealer anyway I was sort of glad to be rid of it and then try something which I hoped would have better results.
E.L.F.'s budget range has some fantastic items and although this product is a great price and has the perfect shade for my pale skin, I can't recommend it because it just doesn't do the job properly. I wouldn't buy this again as it does not provide a full enough coverage and it wears away far too easily.
E.L.F. are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!
Ingredients: Water, Mineral Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Petrolatum, Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Ceresin Wax, PEG-30, Dipolyhydroxystearate, Mica, Microcrystalline Wax, Propylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Silica, Ascorbyl Palmitate , Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides(CI 77891 , CI 77892 , CI 77899.
E.L.F is a relatively new brand of cosmetics and is a brand new find for me. I spotted an advertisement for E.L.F on a fashion and beauty blog and I was intrigued but thought that their range would be quite expensive as it generally is especially if you buy directly from the manufacturer! E.L.F stands for Eyes, lips and face and they sell everything from foundations to mascaras.
I have so many cosmetics in the pipeline for a review but I thought I'd fast track this one for a review to raise awareness of such a fab brand of cheap cosmetics as I'd have loved for someone to point me in the direction of this brand months ago-it would've saved me a packet!
Concealer is a beauty item I use every day over the top of my foundation. Primarily I use it to hide spots and blemishes that my foundation just isn't thick enough to hide! Concealer can also be used to disguise dark bags beneath the eyes and an uneven skin tone.
This concealer comes in a lip gloss style tube with a lip gloss type applicator, it has a screw top lid which is water tight. In itself the tube is compact and fits perfectly in my cosmetics bag. It is translucent which enables you to see the nude coloured liquid inside. It has the E.L.F logo on it and 'tone correcting concealer' emblazoned on the front of it.
Inside is the concealer which is also like lip gloss in texture it is quite viscous yet soft. To apply the concealer is so easy; all you have to do is lift the lid of the concealer and the brush will come out of the tube coated in concealer. The brush is very soft and has a flat edge which makes it easy to apply especially under the eyes. The 'bottle-neck' top means that some concealer rubs off before the brush is pulled from the tube which is an advantage as it means that the brush has an even amount of the concealer on it and not too much which would be quite messy!
You can dab the brush directly onto the problem areas and either rub it with the brush to blend it in or use your fingers or a makeup brush. I find that the concealer is quite oily so it blends in very well and with apparent ease.
Due to this concealer being of a thicker substance than my usual foundation it does cover up blemishes and spots more easily, the other concealer that I have used is the NYX concealer which comes as a lipstick and after using this E.L.F concealer I do not rate the former at all.
The only disadvantage to this product is that I think it is quite oily so if you have oily skin to begin with this could be an issue! But other than that the colour is deep and creamy and applied like a dream. This is definitely one of the best beauty products I've ever used and here comes the best part-it's only £1.50! A complete bargain for such an amazing product.
I bought this concealer in honey which is not the lightest colour in the range but definitely not the darkest. The colour on my skin looks exactly as it does in the tube and I don't think you can really go wrong when picking the colour of the concealer. Other colours are: Apricot beige, spice, toffee, ivory, light beige, rosy beige.
My skin is prone to spots and blemishes, and because of this I do tend to get through concealers quite quickly, and because of this I do not want to spend too much on them. E.L.F (eyes lips face) are a brand which I have purchased many items from in the past, simply because all products in their basic range only retail for a mere £1.50, and this is one of the main reasons why I brought their tone correcting concealer.
They claim that it is a "multi tonal silicon treatment which masks skin tone imperfections and redness, leaving skin with a healthy glow". This seemed all good to me and I went right ahead and ordered it. It comes as shown in the image above as a liquid concealer as opposed to a stick, and you get 2.3 grams worth of product, and although this is not a great deal, it is fairly decent for the price you are paying. It is only available in seven shades which I suppose is a decent variety for a brand such as this, and I have to admit that they do provide an ivory shade for the paler skinned of us, and they also cater fairly well for those with darker skin tones which is excellent. I purchased mine in light beige, as I am not too pale, however I am not greatly tanned either and this seemed like the perfect shade to me.
One of the first things I noticed upon receiving this concealer is the gorgeous smell to it. It has an orange scent to it, which I find fairly complimentary within make up and definitely beats the awful paint scent many concealers usually have to them. If you have tried out various other E.L.F face products before, you will know the scent and I think it's just lovely.
To use the concealer, you simply have to unscrew the lid, and use the applicator brush to dot around all the areas which you would like to conceal. I personally like to conceal all spots and blemishes and any redness over my face, as well as focusing on the dark circles around my eyes. It was easy to apply by using the brush, and you simply just have to smudge it in a little with your fingers, however I did notice that the brush is made quite cheaply and is a little hard which was not too good. So how were the results?
Unfortunately, I was mortified with the results! The colour came out far too orange for my skin tone, and was nowhere near a light beige, so beware that the swatches are not very accurate on their website! Because of this, it was almost a waste of a product in itself. Even though it looked okay upon application, it had rubbed away within a couple of hours, and if you go out in sunlight it will just melt down your face. I was not impressed with the results at all, it did hardly anything for me, as well as the colour being too far off for my liking.
Because of the poor results, I will have to show this through my rating of two stars. Even for the bargain price you pay for this concealer, I would still rather pay a little more to get a good quality concealer which does actually work! Not something I would recommend at all, sorry. Thanks for reading.
Recently on a small online shopping trip to E.L.F (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk) I decided to buy a concealer, mine was looking a bit worse for wear and I wanted a new one that could tone down any spots and cover dark circles under my eyes. The problem I have with spots is they really stand out on my pale skin and look very unsightly. I'd been using a green concealer followed by a normal one and even that was having trouble covering up the redness so I wasn't expecting miracles from this £1.50 concealer.
The E.L.F concealer comes in a 2.3g tube with a sponge applicator like the lipgloss ones. There are 7 different shades available and I plumped for Ivory. The claim is the concealers have "multi-tonal silicon treatment to mask impefections and redness, leaving skin with a healthy glow." They are all apparently Sugar Orange fragrance which I can't smell at all so can't describe that to you! To use you just pop some on using the sponge applicator then dab with your finger until it's blended in and done the job of concealing the blemish.
I had a couple of spots when this arrived and some rather fetching dark circles under my eyes so I didn't need to wait to try it out. I applied my foundation first then starting dabbng on some concealer. Considering I'd been using one of the green concealers which are aimed at redness I expected this to do a terrible job on my spots and while it didn't cover them completely it did manage to tone them down considerably, probably as much as the green concealer had so I was moderately pleased about that. Onto my dark circles and this concealer is quite liquidy (is that even a word?) and goes on with no pulling at the eye area and blends in very well. It did a very good job with my under eye circles and really brightened that area up. I used powder to set the effects then went about my daily business.
I'm not an athlete, nor am I a cook who works in a kitchen but I found the slightest bit of heat does move this concealer around and I ended up with some in the small creases under the eye and the areas with spots became more apparent. It doesn't stand up to heat very well even if it's only mild heat and where it collects under the eyes is a particular give away! I intend to use this on spots that aren't too bad and perhaps a tiny bit under the eyes if it isn't too warm. For the price it's kind of what I expected and while it's not brilliant it can be helpful at times.
A middle of the road 3 stars for me but it's not one I'll buy again once I've finished it.
At a bargain £1.50, I was excited to use this product. However, I was very disappointed in this product once I tried it out.
The website states that the concealer smells of 'sugar orange'. I thought that this would not be a strong scent, I mean it's a concealer so doesn't particularly need a scent, but this scent is very orangey and can still be smelt when put on the face. Not so good if you have very sensitive skin. There is not a lot of product in the tube either, so it ran out pretty quickly.
On a positive side, there is a wide range of shades to choose from, 7 being in total (at time of this being written). The shade I purchased was in #4005 Ivory. This was very true to colour as shown on the site, and matched my skin quite well.
Unfortunately, the concealer does require a lot of blending and feels sticky on the skin. I also found that this concealer didn't actually stay in place all day and blemishes that were covered at the start of the day were definitely noticeable after about 3 hours.
Overall, I would not recommend this concealer as you cannot get away from the orange scent and if you are after a long lasting and hard wearing concealer, this is definitely not the one for you.
