During my recent adventures with E.L.F I bought some mineral face powder which didn't go well and at the same time I bought this face brush. The plan for this brush was to use it with the mineral face powder but as that didn't suit my skin I've since tried it for blending eyeshadow and with normal face powder.

The brush cost £1.50 as most things from E.L.F do and came in a plastic case which you could keep and store it in but I didn't bother. The brush has a fairly thick, round handle about 5 inches long including the silver part and the bristles have some really attractive red strands mixed in with the dark brown ones so it looks very nice. On the handle there is silver writing that reads "elf professional total face brush" so we know what this is and where we bought it from!

The bristles themselves are very soft. I found this made it perfect for applying face powder, which as a face brush I would think it was intended to do just that, but as for blending eyeshadow it was just too soft to make a difference. I have another face brush that I always use for eyeshadow blending and this has much firmer bristles and does the job very well but this one is just so soft it doesn't change the eyeshadow at all. Any lines you want to be rid of at the edge of the eyeshadow are still very evident after using this but I half suspected this would be the case as I was using the brush and could hardly feel it.

I don't often wear blusher, particularly not at this time of year, but I gave it a trial run to see how it fared and it does apply blusher well. Because the bristles are so soft it applies blusher very lightly so it can be built up in layers until you have it how you want it so if you are a blusher fan this will do the job very well without any danger of ending up with eighties style blusher in lines!

But it is best for face powder. I use loose powder alot of the time and this picked up the powder well, I blew it to get rid of the excess then applied lightly over the T-zone and it went on evenly and correctly. I've used it several times and so far none of the bristles have fallen out or become misshapen from use.

The bristles can of course be washed in warm soapy water whenever necessary and then left to dry somewhere in the sun or on top of a radiator. If any powder or blusher gets onto the handle this can be wiped clean easily with a damp cloth.

Overall I'm happy with this brush, it doesn't work for my eyeshadow blending which is a shame because I do that everyday with the other one but it's fine for powder or blusher so it's a handy addition to my brushes.

E.L.F is of course found at www.eyeslipsface.co.uk and alot of their items are £1.50 and most are good quality and work well. If you haven't tried any and want budget cosmetics I recommend giving them a try.
