E.L.F Waterproof Eyeliner Pen

I bought this waterproof eyeliner pen as well as quite a few other products from ELF, an online store that sells makeup products for bargain basement prices. ELF offer a wide range of makeup as well as mineral makeup and their own Studio range based makeup. What really caught my attention was the price, most of all their items cost £1.50 or £3.50 (or some are somewhere in between unless you plan on buying any larger gift sets). Although the prices initially drew me in, unless you get something that you like and would use it can't really be classified as a bargain. To date, I have only placed two orders to ELF online (eyeslipsface.co.uk), but overall I have really been pleased with what I have purchased.

One of the reasons I purchased this was because it was advertised as being a water proof eyeliner, which promises not to budge or smudge. Well on all of those accounts this eyeliner really fails to deliver. It does smudge, it doesn't last all day and it is far from water proof. Unlike some other water proof make up that I own this can easily be removed by just using your normal routine and it doesn't require special eye makeup removal lotion. It does tend to stay pretty much in place but if you do rub or touch your eye it will smudge very easily and by the end of the day this is never as pristine looking as I would prefer.

This pen is a really nice shape to hold and use, I find that it fits nicely into my hand. The nib is also very easy to get good and even results with. The tip as you would suspect is quite fine so you can get a nice light line however, if you use it in a more side on way you can get a thicker more noticeable dark line, perfect for creating day or evening looks.

There isn't that much liquid eyeliner in the pen (1.8 grams) which really doesn't last for that long. However, considering the price and that usually ELF products come in small quantities I was expecting this and I wouldn't say it was much of a problem. For the retail price of £1.50, I think you get enough to justify the price. However, personally I would have rather paid more for more product instead of having an eyeliner pen that runs out quickly and is just more packaging to be thrown into the landfills of the world.

This is available in five different colours, black, ash, midnight, plum and coffee. I have tried and used the black and ash. The ash has been my favourite colour, it is grey but a very dark grey. When this is applied it is hard to tell that it isn't black, but it suits me better because it is a little less harsh and severe than black can look on me.

This eyeliner gets a pretty average three out of five stars from me. Despite it not being waterproof and that it can smudge, I still think it makes for a nice if not very average liquid eyeliner. I prefer quite a few other eyeliners over this one and I would hesitate to recommend it as ELF offer better alternatives at the similar great cheap prices that do look better on. Overall, this is a one of their products that I won't be rushing out to buy again anytime soon.

Summary: A pretty average liquid eye-liner - 3 out of 5 stars
