A cheap buy
I have bought a few cosmetics online recently from various discount retailers, and I always find myself chucking the odd bargain item into my basket before I check out. This particular lip balm was a mere 74p from the retailer I bought it from, reduced from £4.50. I have never seen or heard of this brand of lip balm and I have no idea why this is called Einstein - I am no expert on the great man himself but I am pretty sure he didn't invent lip balm.
Only a little pot
Despite the low cost, the packaging of this is quite cute - it comes in a little pot with a red lid with white lettering and a big plus sign. The balm measures 3.16 grams so compared to a small tin of Vaseline, which measures 20 grams, this may not be as much of a bargain as I had at first thought.
Inside, the balm is a honeyish colour and it is a quite thick balm with a slight gel like consistency. It is nice and easy to apply and goes on smoothly.
Minty fresh, fresh, fresh!
Now it says on the lid of this lip balm that this offers cool relief. And I have to say that this is extremely minty fresh! At first, you just detect a hint of mintiness but after application my lips started to tingle like crazy and the mint becomes almost overpowering! It really does make lips tingle and I have to say that this verges on being unpleasant - it is a little bit too minty for me really. You have to apply this in moderation in order for it not to be too full on.
But mintiness aside this is actually quite a nice lip balm. It does feel nice and pleasant on the lips and feels like it is adding a bit of moisture and smoothing the lips too. I do like this as a balm as it has a nice texture and consistency, and it also gives lips a pretty, subtle sheen. It does need reapplying quite often but no more or less than others I have tried.
In summary ...
This is a nice enough lip balm and it feels smooth on the lips. However it is way too minty for me and actually feels a bit unpleasant when on. Also, when you consider the low quantity, it isn't as cheap as it at first seemed!
